  1. 4 October, 2023 The set has been officially named LEGO® 40597 Scary Pirate Island. The new LEGO Creator set will be available from LEGO.com between October 13-22 with purchases (estimated) over US$100, although purchase thresholds and regional dates have not yet been officially confirmed. ------------------------------ 16 September, 2023 A couple of hours ago a source named @exabrickslegogo_ posted a leak about the upcoming LEGO Creator Pirates GWP 40597 set which is gonna hit the shelves in October He's also posted a pic of the set's box in his leaks channel which everyone can find in the description of his Insta page. Feel free to check it all out & share your thoughts, mateys EDIT: here's a picture of the box I've mentioned earlier posted by @greekbricks_
  2. TYSM for your time & effort, mate, such a wonderful and heartwarming Pirates tribute right there
  3. Nope, in fact the FAQ section of the rules states as follows: So yup, the promotion of entries on various social medias is allowed for the creators of said entires. Then again, there's nothing in the rules stating it's forbidden for others to promote someone else's entries, which could also be taken as a legal loophole
  4. No problems, mate, nothing wrong with what you've suggested It's just that while talking about the concept of having juries in general I feel like we should focus more around the fact that for a majority of contest's duration there was basically little to no control over the actual compliance with the rules as well as the rules themselves were not detailed & thought through enough to prevent some troubles we're dealing with from happening. We're yet to see how the voting was affected by these issues in fact, I'm sure we all are about to have a deep convo on it later, cuz some of the points I'm about to bring up, imo, are definitely worth being mentioned & payed attention to — such as, let's say, "copyright" stuff, which is there in the rules for Creative Critiques, but is nowhere to be found in the rules of a contest itself. And even tho it's mentioned for Creative Critiques — I don't think it was actually closely followed by most of participants themselves, as well as, again, there was no actual control over the compliance & all. So yeah, I'd say the feedback on the event is going to be quite meaningful for the future contests.
  5. I'd say jury are only needed to ensure the compliance of MOCs with the established rules as well as to ensure the voting rules are being strictly followed. Overall, some of the troubles occurred during the contest are a direct consequence of the fact that rules were created in a hurry, which allowed for quite a number of loopholes. That's a wide topic, tbh, all I have to say is we, as a community, are about to dive into a big discussion after the conclusion of this event.
  6. I'll mention here again that MyFirstMOC has an Insta account with a solid audience where he posts regularly & where he has been promoting his entries too — hence this is where some of the aforementioned guys might have come from. I know Classic Pirates mods are aware of that as well, cuz CP Insta acc has left a comment under MyFirstMOC's promotional post on September 2nd, I believe. All I'm saying is let the admins cook
  7. It'd be truly awesome for the market if that's gonna be the case, keeping fingers crossed🤞🤞
  8. There's a little nuance to all of it tho... ...but I'll talk about it in detail in the coming weeks within the post-contest discussion
  9. Awesome, cuz I definitely want to say a thing or two about the whole event & I see I'm not the only one having such a desire That'll be a healthy and engaging way to put focus on some of the nuances which need to be tweaked or fixed for the future contests.
  10. I really feel like the post-contest discussion, some sort of a public recap & convo around it would be appreciated, mate I'd happily take a part in it & share my thoughts as well.
  11. He does know, trust me. This guy has promised to put me in ignore & failed to stick to it literally 6 times at this point (he even gives it away here by saying "will go back to ignoring"). He's once even jumped straight into my DMs to try and troll me I guess some kitties just can't live a life without bothering the dawgs, lol I rly hope this time dude keeps his word finally, cuz God knows I'm already tired of this circus, jeez
  12. MyFirstMOC has nothing to do with you quitting the contest, it was Danny_Boy4's "Enchanted Island" that caused some drama
  13. Sir, do yourself a favour — seek a professional help. The sooner — the better
  14. Which at this point was brought up many times by numerous set owners, so I'm not gonna discuss it all over again for a 10th time. Unfortunately, the torso printing quality in 10320 is atrocious. Case is closed.
  15. What you told was TLG may have had some "unwashed uniforms" concept in mind while f'cking up the prints, lol, and I'm saying they've simply cut the costs & cheapened out on the paint quality. It ain't the same, cut that cringe already. The argument about the quality of torso printing is long past its relevancy as pretty much all of the major reviewers along with their audiences have agreed that it's just bad. Move on, lad.
  16. Yesterday a couple of accs were registered within a difference of an hour & have posted their votes on this forum literally 30 minutes apart from each other 6 hours ago another fresh Eurobricks acc was created & immediately went straight to voting. I should also mention the fact that all of these suspicious accounts have stated Hungary as their home country — by a coincidence, MyFirstMOC is also Hungarian. It makes me wonder if these are his fellows or Insta followers, or... IYKYK Gotta see if @Akdouble has anything to say about it
  17. U might wanna post this in the official voting topic, mate NGL, already starting to get some sus vibes about the activity around Hun's entries, but if ya want your voice to be heard — you better place your votes where the actual voting is ongoing, lad
  18. Long story short, "IDEAS" > "ICONS". "IDEAS" theme recently delivers the quality that stands head & shoulders above the "ICONS" line (apart from 10316 Rivendell I guess, tho minifigs are mostly a downgrade compared to their 2011-2013 counterparts), to the point I feel like some shifts in designers team of the latter are needed, lol Talking about the sets you've mentioned in particular, well, they both have their highs and lows, but VV is $100 cheaper & is a better designed product overall. It only has a couple hundred pieces less, but at the same time it's obvious that EF piece count is artificially inflated, so in the end it's not that big of a difference. 4 less minifigs for VV as well, but all of them have an original leg printing (none of it is present in EF for the higher asking price), a couple of vikings have an original torso printing too (same with EF, but the quality of those is strikingly worse). The only obvious flaw here is horned helmets (gotta love the options foreign outsources are going for while designing sets eventually made by Danish company, which still to this day has a proper viking helmet available in PAB, kek), but EF also has such a thing as non-printed shakos, so it's kind of a draw here in my eyes All in all, I really consider VV a solid offer for its asking price, while EF IMO could've rivaled it only if priced at around $180 mark — at its current position on the market EF is honestly an overpriced BS in comparison.
  19. This contest has turned summer-2023 into a grand Pirates celebration These were not exactly the easiest of choices to make, given the striking amount of magnificent & competitive entries, but at last here are 10 of my personal favourites from both Categories: Main Building Category 1. Cutless Reach by LetsBrick 2. 6269 Islander Palace by BrynnOfCastlegate 3. 6260/6257 Pirates - Shipwreck Island/Castaway's Raft Remake by _R_R_ 4. Cross Bone Clipper Remake UPDATED! by Elephant Knight 5. Short Pork Island by Yoggington Mini Set Building Category 1. Hidden Cache by LetsBrick 2. 6235 Buried Treasure Remake by Janhansson 3. Fortune Idol by Oky 4. 1802 Tidy Treasure - Remake by Dr3w 5. Sloop Windy by Marooned Marin
  20. Banger Tho I guess a paddle is needed for the scallywag to steer it
  21. Well, the actual part usage in 6273 highly indicates the idea of an abandoned fortress (talking about all the black corner wall panels with scattered stones pattern, panels with windows, 1x2 bricks placed in such a way as to simulate the defensive wall structure, all the lattice fences and so on). So one would expect the remake to, let's say, "follow the script" when it comes to its appearance
  22. Hilarious Such a cool gimmick right there, nice work
  23. I mean yeah, the original set was kind of a take on representing the long-abandoned ruins of a fortress which were appropriated by Redbeard's scallywags. Barely getting these sorta vibes from the entry here, tbh
  24. Looks SO-O-O lovely in its physical form Fits the PoBB style spotlessly, magnificent work there, mate Plz do Looks like a wonderful lil' expansion to "Ray the Castaway" GWP in a setting of Islanders, I'm pumped to see it in details
  25. @Mister Phes I believe this entry is missing in the Building Entries Index topic
