  1. Ha! I was just looking here (https://bricknerd.com/home/everything-you-want-to-know-about-lego-pirates-6-8-21) and it mentions you discussing the comic on eurobricks! Thanks for the link, I'll take a read!
  2. Can you point me to this comic? Was this a thing not in every market? I admit, I had very few pirates sets growing up, and now I have a lot, but lore is always good to know!
  3. I don't know who this is, but they are so dorky about it and I love it. This is basically how I would be if Lego sent me one of those. Maybe I need a youtube channel...
  4. There are 5 torsos on PAB that can be turned into pirates at the moment. Red/white stripes with bare arms Blue/white stripes with bare arms Red/white stripes with blue vest Blue jacket with brown belt crossed across the torso. This feels most appropriate for the cargo ship captain. Robin Loot, which is green with white sleeves and some buttons on the front. This might also work for the ship captain. Sadly it doesn't appear they have the tricornes with attached hair, but the regular black tricorne and admirals hats can be purchased, along with brown muskets, dark grey flintlock pistols, and the classic sword. Dual molded legs are brutally expensive, so trying to make boots-ed up figures is going to be pricey. Anyways, in my infinite desire for random pieces to add details, that's $70 in my PAB cart so far...
  5. It also had just over 500 pieces. Yes, a lot were bigger (baseplate, walls, jail, etc), but this is 5x as many pieces. Same minifigs. Way more ship, and printed cloth sails. In the USA, it says $66 MSRP which is $161 now. I honestly feel like with the extra details and ship, it's easily worth the extra amount. Plus, not gonna lie, the crane on my original is by far the thing that falls apart the most.
  6. Rumors are of a remake of Majisto's Workshop, similar to how they did the Forestmen GWP.
  7. YES to the red epaulettes. I never have enough of them, gonna order about 40 when I can. And maybe more muskets in brown, backpacks, shakos, whatever good castle stuff there is these days, and probably a bunch of minifigs because I have zero impulse control. Good to know, I guess I'll have to consider a modular or something in September. I don't think I can wait on this...
  8. I would totally buy another to build something akin to 6277, especially if it goes on 20% sale. Plus, a second batch of figs is always welcome. Any source on the Majisto stuff?
  9. Ah yes, I have a few of those if I feel like they need it. Maybe I should put one of those and one of the red imperial flags in a chest on it, all the better to sail the seas without getting raided... Perhaps I need to check my Lego store, I do like the boots legs. I haven't done a PAB order in a while, and maybe if the BAM has anything I can turn into sailors, that would be excellent.
  10. Ah so you mean having the pennants be blue and white instead of yellow and red? That seems like an easy fix, but I realize I may have an entire drawer of pennants to choose from. As well as a few spare small imperial flags, so easy enough to add that to it. One thing I don't think I've noticed in the comments...it has ladders! It looks like you can get to all of the higher platforms now!
  11. Is there any info on the expected Majisto GWP? That is the only thing that might hold me back from a day 1 purchase, since the Boutique Hotel had the Vintage Car GWP but not for the first few weeks. Getting two nostalgia hits in one go is a major win. Colored flags? Like small Imperial flags? It would have been nice to get some merchants, but I feel like if you use the old blue torsos with the yellow cross-ties, and the blue and white mariniere shirts with proper hats and no eyepatches, it can look pretty good. Sailors don't need uniforms as much as soldiers do.
  12. Oh this makes me so happy. Given that I have two trading posts with ships already, this means I have a solid fleet of the same design of ship. I already have a clipper and custom bigger flapship clipper, so I'm honestly not concerned about that. I have so many Harbour Sentries and Bounty Boats that I can easily have a few rowing around the perimeter. Pirates now have ships and bases to attack, and of course, it's fun to have a remake to compare against the original. It may not be as original as PoBB, but I'll be damned if this isn't basically exactly what I predicted and wanted. The little pirate flag is 100% getting replaced though...gotta have the classic design. Same! Just what we were talking about the other day. I have my original up, but I haven't built PoBB yet. It's in the backlog but suffering from a lack of space to display it. So I'm not really sure how I'm going to handle this...
  13. Immediate buy. I love everything about it. The ship is perfect, it's what I have wanted for so long to go with with trading post ships. Lego f****** NAILED IT.
  14. OMG hahahaha a remake of 6020 would be hilarious. The wailing and crying would be epic. Given the Forestmen remake, I'd be really surprised if they did. Do we "know" it's a remake, or could it be some combination of the Workshop/Tower/Magic Shop?
  15. Not where I am; I've gotten part of a Clipper twice, and one lot had a complete one, which is now on my display. Granted, I don't do this with the same vigor that you do, I'm just trying to get the old sets I always wanted but never got. I have found that with some care, it's easy to make a profit (in cash, if not in time) when you are selective. I spent $175 on a lot recently, mostly early 90s, and I've got a Renegade Runner completed waiting to be posted, and Sabre Island, some Bounty Boats, King Kahuka, as well as a variety of Space (SP2, Ice Planet, Exploriens, UFO) and some Aquazone, then Western. I'm planning to keep all the Castle stuff; the big scores were Black Knight's Castle and Fire Breathing Fortress, which aren't complete but close enough. A BL order or two will sort them out easily. The rest gets sold to refund my purchase price and hopefully make a few bucks above and beyond. If the minifigs make it into PAB or BAM, even better. A bit of mix and match allows you to build out the world pretty easily.
  16. I never had much in the way of pirate sets as a child, so that has been one thing I've aimed for. I also look specifically for certain pieces that I know are rare and came in a few sets, and that typically ends up with the era being very much what I want. My goal is often to get a good deal on the lot, and then complete and sell off stuff I either already have or don't care about to help cover my costs. I've only got one complete Clipper, and the Red Beard Runner and Renegade Runner. Ships are pretty rare, I don't know that I've ever seen Barracuda. I saw part of a Schooner once, and I'm still a bit salty that I was too late to get it for cheap. I've somehow managed to get two Trading Posts, which will get combined into a larger dock and loading area, with more complete buildings. Gotta have a place for all those Harbour Sentries to hang out, you know. :P Honestly, a big throwback set every third year would be fine for my wallet.
  17. Oh wow! I can see 5 red rowboats on display right now and I know there are a lot more somewhere. Maybe they weren't as common in the UK? Granted, I am very picky about which I try to buy, but still, I've ended up with a lot. No Barracudas or Schooners yet though, I did get a Red Beard Runner which I'd like to sell once I get a better big pirate ship. And I have a clipper and a custom version that I made from some spare parts I got, so I'm pretty well set there. 10210 would be a dream though...
  18. Aside from the immediate sinking you'd get from putting a cannon of that size in a 3-person rowboat, it would be amusing to watch it fire. This and the redcoats Bounty Boat both make excellent army builders. Sentry has the wrong epaulettes and hat, but eh, getting another boat, cannon, and flag make up for it. Easy to use to outfit the Clipper with full guns and an escape boat, plus more soldiers. Bounty is great, you get a civilian or pirate and two soldiers, plus treasure, weapons, and a boat. Easy way to bulk up your redcoats and whoever else needs another man on their side. If you ever buy vintage hauls from the late 80s or early 90s, you're almost guaranteed to get one or both. That must explain the exceptionally large number of red rowboats I've acquired over the years...
  19. I'm torn on this. Eldorado is one of my favorites from back in the day, even if I didn't get it until a few years ago. It occupies a permanent spot on my display shelves due to this. But if they only remake the fort and there's no ship of decent size, it feels like the pirates have the upper hand, in firepower and set "interestingness." I don't think they will do a convertible thing like PoBB has, so it'll have to be a separate ship like the Clipper, which I am honestly fine with. But the Imperial Trading Post would be incredible with bluecoats. It's both a fort and a civilian area, which the pirates need in order to be pirates. Attacking other nations military ships is just war. Both originals are fantastic sets, but the trading ship is one of my favorites ever. It's such a wonderful mid-sized ship. I get the feeling it will be Eldorado, and honestly, I won't complain. I have a Clipper and custom flagship that I can use to battle PoBB. But it would just be so cool if there was a civilian ship for pirates to go after (and recruit from) and some bluecoats to fight back. I wish they would do a GWP remake of Harbour Sentry. It's so silly and amazing. I think I have half a dozen of them paddling around the docks of the trading post...
  20. While I would prefer a remake of Majisto's Tower due to its rarity and excellent parts, I think the workshop can be reused in many many ways, which is awesome. Civilian buildings, here we come! In 2023, I've been working on some of the Dragon Masters sets. I have to buy at least a few printed and roof parts for the Fire Breathing Fortress, but that's going to be built soon. I love having the dragons and fun helmets and plumes to go along with it!
  21. Brickset has an article about a deal on the castle, though it appears to be limited to certain countries. Check your VIP rewards centre to see if it's available for you.
  22. Oh I have one of those, got some parts from BFF but not nearly enough to complete it. That little black spire does look nice. It's only like $6, not like the BF flag that's over 20.
  23. Is that an original flag from Guarded Inn though? Overall, looks fantastic! The detailing is great, the little window shutters, the half timbers, the ladder to get to the top. That scythe too!
