[MOC] Precious stones for elven friends
BrynnOfCastlegate replied to T-86(swebrickLUG)'s topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This is nice. I love the pack-goats! -
By the way, did I miss seeing the winners for the random draw amongst those who voted? I cannot find them listed anywhere.

[POLL] Why did you (or didn't you) vote?
BrynnOfCastlegate replied to Horation's topic in LEGO Pirates
I liked the bonus points system, as it takes away the question of whether to vote for yourself or not. Last year, I got busy and did not vote right away. Then I realised my entry was in the top three, so all voting options became too tactical, which seemed a bit artificial to do, so I ended up not voting. That's why I made sure to vote right away this time. I agree that all the rules got a bit complicated this time, though. -
I like this sort of random useless moving thing. I particularly like the Stop sign.

Congratulations to all the winners!

After staring at too many old set boxes during the Pirates contest last year, I believe the black in all classic Pirates sets is intended to be wood. Note the dock in the Rock Island Refuge is black as well, as are the docks in the Eldorado Fortress, Lagoon Lock-up and Imperial Trading Post. All rafts are based in black with only accessories like barrels in brown. (As @Mister Phes pointed out, brown was only used for a limited selection of elements.) All ship masts are black. All these items would have been wood in real life. This is further indicated by the last wave of classic Pirates in 1997. The new brown wood-effect bricks from the Western theme are freely mixed with black bricks, because the black was always meant to be wood. The same is seen in Pirates Perilous Pitfall: Note the dock is still black. The only exception to this seems to be the bizarre grey docks in Skull Island and Imperial Outpost from 1995. Not sure what's up with them. So, it appears to me that Rock Island Refuge is intended to be a wooden structure with stone reinforcing as indicated by the print on the black panels.

Have you ever found Lego pieces outdoors?
BrynnOfCastlegate replied to SpacePolice89's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I was helping a friend vacuum out her van once, and she let me keep all the LEGO elements we found. There were a bunch of pieces, but the only one I remember was a nice Friends figure. -

I was a volunteer at the Olympic Village in Paris, and I found that outside the Denmark house they had a LEGO DOTS style mosaic set up. People could add designs to the display as they went by.

[POLL] Which Prizes Do You Find Most Enticing?
BrynnOfCastlegate replied to Mister Phes's topic in LEGO Pirates
Do these challenges cut off when entries close? Unfortunately, I was not able to follow this second round closely, as I was rather busy putting on that big international sporting event. Looking forward to the voting, however! -
[ENTRY][SMALL] International Society of Steve
BrynnOfCastlegate replied to BrynnOfCastlegate's topic in Pirate MOCs
Yes, I was going for a torchlit night time feel. I actually didn't edit the colour, the effect is just from mis-setting the white balance on the camera. I'm glad you like it! A green bottle might look good, but I haven't got one. -
[M4-24 - The Phantom Menace] Droideka Introduction
BrynnOfCastlegate replied to Sylyphics's topic in Watto's Junkyard
"They generate their own deflector shields." Those shields are really clever, going below the floor to hide the rest of the sphere. -

Congratulations Sydney on winning the first to 25! -
[ENTRY][SMALL] International Society of Steve
BrynnOfCastlegate replied to BrynnOfCastlegate's topic in Pirate MOCs
Like I said in the other topic, I was trying to post both here and in the Mini Imperial Trading Post at the same moment, but the forum software foiled me. You may choose whichever you like to be the first to 25!
