LEGO IDEAS - Vincent van Gogh: The Starry Night
CastleRail replied to JintaiZ's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The bristles are blue, it is new in that colour -
Whereas my order for 6 minifigures arrived a couple of days ago and had each exactly correct and even an extra unrelated accessory. No complaints at all.

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
CastleRail replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
A soft rail section? Has this been through so sort of auto-translate or is it something new? 16 straights would be nice, I was half expecting 20 of them to be flexi sections -
Help with identifying parts/sets!
CastleRail replied to WhiteFang's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I would imagine that it isn't a sticker from a set - I don't recall seeing (c) Lego on a sticker before. Perhaps from a sticker sheet in related media - a Lego magazine or similar? -
Awesome, congratulations :-)

Train stuff on Ideas getting approved? Forget it!

What's the story here? That would have been in my dark ages -
Does anyone know why this has disappeared from the Lego online shop? Direct links result in a 404 error and search results only return the mini 40517

Looks very nice. Same blue as the recoloured Fiat it looks like.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
CastleRail replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
The new horse is £10.00 in the UK. That's an absolutely awful price White male lion is up to £9.52 and elephant head is £7.00 vs body (unavailable) at £6.77 so prices don't update until an item is in stock. 8x16 tile has gone from £1.46 to £1.67 and the cannon £1.78 to £2.54. Plant limbs are down to £0.23 and £0.16 respectively and lots of bricks that I've checked are down a penny or two. Overall it does seem to favour bulk lots of common pieces with the larger/specialised prices jumping significantly. You need to buy an awful lot of bricks at a few pennies cheaper to balance the increase in other prices for the same final order cost. I'm disappointed but not surprised. -

Isn't it supposed to be in the summer farm wave? It wasn't available on LUGBulk this year, not sure if that is a good sign or not.

Okay. Go to Bricks & Pieces. Look up part number 3024. Note the colours available Look up part number 28554. Note the colours available What do you see? They're all 1x1 plates, we treat the all as 3024. The plates say 3024. Lego does not treat them the same because they're different moulds for different materials. The same goes for the stag. 51493 is the mould for the Christmas one, 51538 is the mould for the HP transparent one. Lunar New Year penguin? Friends solid colour penguin is 14733, trans blue penguin is 68940. Different moulds for different materials. Although the penguin is dual-moulded too so bad example.

Bricklink indicates white by a wide margin: Colour Guide Edit: Sorry, misunderstood, thought you were asking the most common colour
-
The issue there I believe is that the moulds for transparent versions of parts are different to those used for solid colours due to different material shrinkage properties. So a trans-blue otter mould can not be used for a solid colour without causing issues with connection/clutch

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

The BrickHunter extension was doing it for me live on the order details up until fairly recently. Now it doesn't so not much use I know... -

Mine look the same at the moment, I would imagine this is part of the rollout of the system changing ready for the changes to B&P and PAB. I see they've finally improved the way to get discount codes, making it much clearer if you're doing online or in store vouchers. -
Good / well executed (city) helicopter features
CastleRail replied to Pizzasemmel's topic in LEGO Town
The winch also features in helicopters in 4995, 60010 and 7738. 7738 is the only one I have and has what seems like the best usage - the winch arm swings inside the body to allow the door to close, giving the model a full chopper body. -
I adore most animals but the monkey doesn't do anything for me. The pose just feels wrong. I'm going to stick to the classic monkey, regardless of scale. Maybe if the new one could swing from the rigging with a banana and a bottle of grog like the old ones I'd be more tempted...

Help required to identify pantograph parts
CastleRail replied to idlemarvel's topic in LEGO Train Tech
You're right, they're part of the range of 2&3 finger hinges that've been out of production for about 20 years. They're attached to part 2452 at the top and either the same or 4275 at the bottom. -
I found with the fishing boat that parts in bags didn't quite match up to the instructions - the end of one bag containing the first step of the next bag in the instructions for instance. I was convinced I was missing multiple chains too since the first pair were in the numbered bag but the ones a few steps later were not - they later turned out to be in the un-nunbered bag of large parts. The bags for the sides of the hull were a little oddly ordered too, the first containing one hull side and a pile of parts for bow and stern but the instructions wanted the other hull side first which was in the next bag. These issues all seem to be down to how Lego decided which parts go in each bag, either that or there were some last minute changes to the instruction order after production had started. That aside though the instructions were clear and well put together and building it was good fun. It's a lovely model too.
