  1. Thanks @jtooker! The GoH lore and storytelling is what drew me here in the first place, so very happy to make some small contributions to its growth. Thanks @socalbricks, much appreciated. Designing the mushrooms was a lot of fun. I had quite a few more as table scraps but didn't want to overwhelm the build. I'm sure some more will resurface elsewhere. The ones on the left with the minifig hands are intended to be the Pixies' chalices mentioned early on. Boab, he warms my heart, too. I've kept that build aside to re-use for another day. Thanks @Aurore too. Insightful comment about the composition. I deliberately chose not to add any foliage to the standing stones, but I hadn't thought about the contrasting look you identified. Just lucky! Yes, please do add to the guide. In case you want to add any parts notes, most should be obvious but the puffball caps might be so: Clikits!
  2. Thanks both! I really appreciate the comments. Using so many of those large modified headpieces posed challenges for a figbarf category as many of the torsos are covered. I may take a pic of the backs as well, as Tassie at least has some nice detail there. The poem wasn't in my original plan, but it evolved and the figs and their accessories evolved with it. The detail I am most proud of? The blue tongue in Fang's jar! And what a nasty hook to obtain it...
  3. I'm reposting my entry for Brickscalibur here, the Monarchic Minifigures category - photo, text and reading! The build: The story: Were-beast hierarchies were notoriously fickle; leaders changed with the moon phase: wax, wane or sickle. The Wulf-Tang Clan was one such curious case; led by Matriarch Wulf, firm grip on the royal mace. Rip, Fang and Wrinkle, her loyal sons three; keeping them in line? Certainly not free: Pay for the damage when Rip fought in bars; Pay off the victims whose tongues Fang kept in jars; Pay for the tools as Wrinkle read the moon and stars. A change in the guard, though, when the harvest moon come: as Runt took over as leader of the pack, with his running mate Ocker watching his back. Sweet Lily, too, had ambition for the peak; Trice already she’d eliminated the weak. A lick of charm, males ate from her mitten; Runt, especially, reduced to a kitten. What she couldn’t obtain with just feminine wiles, Lily removed with a drop from her poisoned vials. Regardless of whoever was leader day-by-day, everybeast knew don’t cross were-coon Fay. As den-mother, her power was wide; Get on her wrong side? Your tail was fried! But one thing was true across all the moon’s phases, the bottom of the heap was reserved for tree grazers; Were-beaver serfs – they might not be free, but leaders beware … they could still fell the family tree. The poet's reading: If you like to hear the bard's own reading of this story, there is a sound file available on the Brickscalibur Discord server here. I don't think I can upload to here directly (or to Flickr). Build notes:
  4. Love the boat, will try and reverse engineer it.
  5. Nice crate. Maybe a future calendar day should be an old map forger/faker. 😄
  6. As others have said, the roof is excellent. I especially like the use of that triangular piece in the centre. Tricky to use. Was it the seed part for your build? I wasn’t familiarise with the backstory but like this concept. Get the centaurs involved!
  7. Alrune’s comment about fashion absolutely skewers the dungeoneer. Excellent social commentary and I look forward to more. The fig itself is very well executed, of course.
  8. 1 point each for: 13. Ayrlego 16. Henjin Quilones 18. Aurore
  9. 1 point each for: 5. KaiNRG 8. Aurore 11. Kahir88
  10. Nice work @Sympatik Brick. The figures on the roof are very dynamically poised. I like the technique for the golden window and as mentioned elsewhere the bubbling spring works well.
  11. Nice profiles, especially following the recent conspiracy collab. I like Marsilia - no rush to bail out her husband - and the torso for Mirco is great.
  12. The build: Hot pools on the hunt The story: A steep mountain range ran through the heart of the Enchanted Forest, dividing the very ancient forests in the northwest with the merely ancient forests in the southeast. The range went by many names to the peoples of the forests: the Wizard’s Spine, Titan’s Jaw, or merely “the range”. One particularly tall peak had, in times past, been volcanically active; now, geothermal vents still peppered its southern flank. If you knew where to look, some of these vents emerged in thermal hot pools, providing a steamy respite from the surrounding snow and ice. The Varana sisters, Ooru and Gudoo, used the thermal pools as waypoints on their hunting expeditions. Despite the sulphurous emissions, the pools were the perfect spot to remove their snow shoes, warm up, dry out their sodden fur cloaks, and brew a little tea. On this expedition, the siblings had a special target: the elusive giant snow bear. It would be a challenging hunt – to even find a bear; let alone kill it. Snow bears had long, white fur, which provided almost perfect camouflage against the snow and the ice. If you were skilled enough to track one down, you then had to content with their sharp claws, almost as long as a Varana head. Still, Ooro and Gudoo were excited by the hunt: Not only would it challenge their skills but when you were paid upfront with a gold bracelet – with the promise of a second on completion – how could you not be excited! Build notes: C&C welcome.
  13. Cool entry. I like Wudugog, especially with that alien part for the shoulders. Where are the other green orc tops from? Doradraic could be straight out of a Warhammer book! Also great to see some more stag cavalry.
  14. A magical ending with those glittering pillars. So Ilazio lives to fight another day?
  15. Excellent contribution to the story. That Rego must have nerves of steel. I like the interplay with the assassin brothers... now you know we can get you...
  16. I love this glimpse into the world of the Kolgari. As a new member, I haven't seen any other builds in this setting before so this is especially cool. The colour palette of the trees works well - the dark blue and lilac. I was also intruged by how you did the pillars but have since learned those piece for superheroes to stand on jauty angles come in light bluish grey. As Kai said, the octagonal base is impressive.
  17. Nice build! The bright colours are a refreshing contrast to the previous parts of the story. I like how you've used the small windows to create the trellis on the balcony. The technic pin holes above the windows are a neat detail too. The story brings together the two sides well; nice work.
  18. I've just re-read this. To tie the story and build together from the start, I think it would have been helpful to describe Råiden’s mask early on.
  19. Part II! As others have said, the build nicely captures a dense corner of the city. My eyes were drawn to the detailed cobblestones. It is a nice bit of continuity to use the same street lamp design from your earlier build. On the inside, I like that technique for the tiled floor. I may have to try and replicate that. Well done with the story too. With the first murder, it definitely raises the stakes of the conspiracy. One thing: I found the transition between the two parts to the story a bit abrupt - i.e., the switch to the son's perspective. I guess it was indicated in the Italian title but I skipped past that given I don't speak the language. I was also confused by the reference to the snake-like nose. Is Amara not human?
  20. First of all, I love the idea of the multi-builder collaboration. It is such a great way to continue building the GOH community and make more epic stories than would be possible alone. The tiger is very impressive. I appreciate the stripes from the different shades of grey and the clips used to represent bristles. The sculpting is very dynamic. Congratulations! The moonlight image is superb editing. The building is also neat. I think it would have been great to have a second tower on the other side of the tiger to give a greater sense of it being integrated into the building, but I realise that is easier said than done. One thing I can't work out is the white pattern on the right-hand ground level. Is it stickered? In terms of the story, I can only say "Accidenti!" (after looking the word up ) It sets up the rest of the collab very well. One plot question, why did Moccenigo seek out Råiden as his ally? Is it meant to be because he heard their plot against Råiden? Or just a happy coincidence for the story? The smattering of Italian generally works well with the meaning implicit from the context. There is a part at the start where it was a bit too thick and fast for me to follow and I had to look up a few words. Onto the next part...
  21. What a nice, clean build! Who would have guessed this would be the first build in such an epic collaboration to come? I particularly like the tan technic crosspins in the white bricks. A really nice look. Excellent "gaudily dressed" servant. Where is the torso from?
  22. Thanks @W Navarre! Yes, the figbarf has attracted the most attention on Flickr. I just love those Groot minifigures. I only own the baby Groot in Ravagers uniform so actually borrowed the one out of uniform from a friend for the final build. The vegetation was a fun learning curve for me. Getting it suitably organic is obviously quite the challenge. You are right about the tan but it came down to brick availability. What can you do? (Apart from run off to BL!) Thanks @Kai NRG, yes I love a bit of NPU for vegetation - I'm slowly raiding my coral reef build for parts. Cheers @Grover, high praise indeed for the minifigs. I'm going to keep Boab built for a while as it was a fun challenge to build, especially the leaf sash around the front. Should be a couple more builds and stories on the way soon.
  23. 🙏 much appreciated.
  24. I think Kars is actually how I discovered this forum. It was featured on TBB right? It looked so fantastic I had to check out the community from which it came!
