  1. I think some people assumed its cancelled cause the other rumored September set (advent calendar) was announced and we haven't heard anything else about the forge. I don't doubt its coming this year but I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a Target/Walmart retail exclusive released later in the fall not necessarily the rumored September.
  2. I think the 75303 and 75369 sets could be D2C (via Comic-Con and SW Celebration) online US-only exclusives like Bespin. The only reason I think this is the case is because the Bespin Duel from last year was a US-only online exclusive cause the event was canceled and this year I believe the events are online only (CC) or moved to next year (SW Cele). The GWP theory is valid but I thought the GWP for the ATAT was a mini Imp Star Destroyer and was set #40483.
  3. That was probably a lose/lose for Lego; If they didn't change anything about the fig then they'd get even more complaints like "They reused a figure for a UCS Set" so I think adding a bit of color and changing the torso print is ok.
  4. I know mini-fig misprints don't sell well but the "exclusivity" is what is valued in this case. I think since it will be such a limited run the imperial box versions will be a sort of collectors item for some SW and lego fans. I know the resistance bomber is a different situation but the exclusivity of that version is what give it more value in my eyes.
  5. I'd guess the Gunship for the imperial logo mistake but from the play-scale sets I think the Mando Fighter and Shuttle will sell out by the end of release day because the figs are really cool and the BB finale should be on the 13th of August leading to more focus on the toys (IMO). Also I think the Duel set figs and price could help it sell out but not on release day.
  6. That's just not true. While AOTC and TPM are horrible and only there for the memes, ROTS is a fantastic movie that stands up over 15 years later. Blind hatred of the first two is what makes alot of people believe all the prequels are bad. The prequel love doesn't just come from memes because while they did help a little, the majority was TCW success and younger kids who are now adults giving the movies a chance AFTER the watching the cartoon. For example, the fist SW media I ever watched was the Clone Wars Movie. I then went back to watch the rest of the saga and watched TCW as a I grew up. The fandom for TCW is evidence enough that people love the prequel era and people asking for things like CW7, Kenobi, the Ahsoka Show shows that prequel era characters and movies are widely loved (Not as much as OT but still appreciated by the Ogs). On another note, After the relative success of the BB do we think TLG will have to change the P2 helmet to give Crosshair and other special clones rangefinders. At least IMO his rangefinder is used extensively in every episode he is in and is his go to "perk". I would think they'd watch the show and take that into account and make a change. I was disappointed it wasn't there to begin with but I guess TLG wouldn't have know how important it was since they were going of concept arts. I just think for future clones in the series and SW it would be cool to get a helmet like the original p1.
  7. The TCW sets are play sets not UCS and as I said before there is no anti prequel agenda across the board but rather an unwillingness to make UCS prequel sets. My evidence for which is the UCS releases the last 11 years and one vote in 11 years where the options are two OT ships and 1 PT ship isn't the change fans are looking for. TLG should take a chance and not need a fan vote to tell them to make a prequel UCS set. Fans shouldn't have to tell them through a vote and comment sections that the sales of a set from 2010 should not dictate what they release in 2021. Even some people in this forum should understand that times are different now and fans of the prequels are now old enough to have a job and disposable income to buy expensive UCS sets of their favorite prequel ships. Things like the Venator, CIS Dreadnoughts, or the Arc-170 should be made cause they're iconic to SW and not just the oh so widely hated prequels.
  8. You hit all the main characters in the scene so my lineup wasn't going to be drastically different. I thought the 4 bikes were perfect since they reflect the earlier scene with Leia and Luke and the scouts. I know Galaxy of Adventures isn't canon but in Rebels Sabine says Rex participated in the assault on Endor and Disney has made various changes in canon this is one of them. Plus that's just one of thing for the set that would make it worth it for me if we ever get an Endor bunker. I think it'd be cool to see a little white and blue arm-printing and its not like lego has never broken canon with their mini-fig design. Rex fig could look like this. On the topic of Jabba Palace MBS I think it could work well but I'd don't know how or even if they would include the rancor pit without jeopardizing the structural integrity of the palace portion; anyways it'd be cool to see either way but I'd prefer a UCS barge rather than a MBS version of Jabba's palace.
  9. I got "disdain" from the way the designers talked about the Gunship and prequel sets in their interviews past and present. I don't think its an anti prequel agenda but rather a company unwillinging to try something new or make any effort to change. Also everyone keeps saying prequels don't sell well but the last prequel UCS set was released over 11 years ago. If you're telling me that the "basic economics" of Lego SW in 2021 apply in the same way to the Obi Wan Starfighter's sales from 11 years ago then I don't think you understand how differently today's consumers view the prequels or you choose not to.
  10. While I agree that is there sentiment the anniversary only comes once so I think it makes too much sense not to do at least one special AOTC D2C set. The Genosioan Arena has never been done (to my knowledge) and is the perfect set for the anniversary and would offer more figure variety than another OT based D2C. Then again with their distain for prequel D2C and its reliance on Gunship sales I fear we'll have to wait another 11 years till at-least 2032.
  11. IMO the MBS Endor Bunker would have to go above and beyond with figures for it to be worth it because as @ArrowBricks point out we've seen most of the figs possible already. WE'd need to see exclusive figs, arm printing, maybe a new mold or two to make it worth it. At the 350 dollar price tag: A very detailed bunker with many rooms and exclusive imperial molds for crates and other stuff inside the bunker, Midi Scale AT-ST with space for driver, Ewok Launchers, a tree or two for ambiance, functionality to open and close bunker (Similar to Cantina) Strike Team: Trench Coat Han (w/arm-printing), Endor Leia (w/speeder bike), Chewie, Luke Skywalker (w/speeder bike), C-3PO, R2-D2, Wicket, Logray, Paploo, Teebo, 2x Rebel Commandos, Endor Rex (w/arm-printing that indicates his clone armor) - 13 Rebels Imperials: 2x Stormtroopers, 2x Scout Troopers (w/bikes), AT-ST Driver, 2x Imperial Navy Troopers, and a Lieutenant Renz (w/arm-printing) - 8 Imperials
  12. While I'd love an Endor Bunker I really hope they do a Kamino or Genosian themed MBS set cause it is the 20th anniversary of AOTC. It feels like the perfect time since we've seen more of Kamino in the BB and Clones are still so popular. Also after the discourse around the Gunship and designers and everthing else I don't even want to touch the subject in fear of being called a Mandr backup account but did anyone else think it was weird they gave the reveal to Solid Brix. I feel like the set would have been better as a non-live video done with designers and some type of spokesperson/fans since it was a fan vote. I like David but youtubers aren't cutout to reveal sets and so when I watched the stream it didn't feel like a billion dollar company revealing their new design but rather a high school presentation where the teacher doesn't know how to use his tech. Also Mandr wouldn't have been good for a reveal cause he'd ask awful questions and make it about him.
  13. If you don't care that's fine you don't have to but some of us would like a bit of accuracy and tact from designers. Also nobody said he should be fired cause he's probably the best designer they have, (see UCS millenium Falcon and Star Destroyer) some of us would just like him to watch a movie or two for the Lego theme he's in charge of. Also maybe we should stop with the generalizing and taking snipes at people/groups in this thread.
  14. I understand where you're coming from but fans shouldn't have to be held to ransom to get UCS sets from a different era of SW. I will buy a UCS Gunship and many other people will too but one set shouldn't dictate TLG UCS choices as they aren't representative of the whole. Also the designers/creators not giving a sh*t about the more intricate but still important details of SW is something I've come to take as a given. They don't realize how popular SW is and taking a chance on more prequel UCS/MBS should not be as a big a deal as those pompous designers make it out to be.
  15. I do agree that Mandr's video encapsulated how many fans feel about this set in particular and why they're frustrated with the team but UCS sets are for the builds not the figures so they can't be the focal point of this set. Where I agree with him is the interview with the designers and the continued lack of care from TLG here and there. Everything from the inaccurate logo on the box, calling it the LSW The Clone Wars Republic Gunship, saying a yellow clone = a pilot all to me say these guys don't really give a crap about SW side of the product. They're deifinitely great designers and make great sets but when it comes to knowing the difference between a clone pilot and commander in SW they're clueless which hurts the set. Also the argument that its a kids toy and kids won't notice doesn't work here cause no 6-14 year old kid is buying the 18+, $350, UCS Gunship; only people with a vested interest in SW will buy it, usually adults. Also whats up with the video quality from the interview. They're literally a multi billion dollar corporation how can they not afford a better camera. Edit: Since so many people keep bring up the "locked behind a expensive set" point what is the acceptable price point for a desirable figure? I would think putting a character like Cody in the UCS Gunship would be adding value to the expensive set to incentivize a purchase cause at the end of the day that't what purchasing Lego is about. If you like what you see and you can afford or think the item is worth the price you buy it. If a person is willing to pay why can't they have something special like a cool exclusive minifg. That's one of the reason I got the Cantina cause it had some really cool exclusive minifgs and the new imperial spy. (Also this isn't me endorsing Cody or anyone special in UCS sets just asking the question of what price is acceptable)
  16. That's just not what I said. My point is that they don't perceive prequel sets to do well thus they will use poor gunship sales as evidence from a biz side that they shouldn't make PT UCS. Not as as an agenda for liking OT but just as a tried and true method. It's my belief that that's not a fair way of measuring success since the ship is more expensive than other recent OT models (A Wing, Y Wing, R2). and instead should revert to OT. Again, that's not me saying they have an agenda but rather me saying they don't care to take a chance on more prequel UCS content. Also no need to get so defensive of the OT, we all love it, some of us would just love to not see the X-Wing for a while even if they sell incredibly well every time.
  17. IMO the pricing is Lego doing the same thing that they did with the 501st BP. The demand was for a $15 set that was an army builder but Lego decided to make a $30 set to capitalize and while they did make incredible sales the first few months, sales have trailed off and thus the price is now $24. It's still a super popular set but could have been more so. The same pattern will happen to the Gunship and Lego will use it as an excuse as to why PT sets don't sell and make another F***KING X-WING. Now this is just a theory and it may be be cynical but I think it may be true. Also it makes a lot of sense from a marketing standpoint to see the demand and then milk it for all its worth even if you screw over some people whose budgets go up to $200 (which is what I thought the price should have been and what people who voted might have thought I'd be). I'm still buying it but yah just my two cents.
  18. Why is it that there is always someone in this thread who attacks him no matter what. No matter what the news is or whether he is right or wrong the same people in this forum that know he is on here attack him. Just block/mute/don't watch him if he offends you so much and move on with your life. Regarding the minifigs, Since they're a bonus and don't matter for UCS I don't care but what the designer said during the live stream struck me as tone deaf and really dumb. He said that all people remember about the Gunship was a "yellow clone" and thus they chose this clone commander. I don't know if the designers are fans but I pretty sure they watched AOTC or at least looked at some pictures prior to designing this set so to make the decision to not have a pilot and then stand by that with the response of "yellow clone" doesn't make any sense to me. For the record, I think he's a great designer (he did a great job with the UCS Falcon) but whoever wrote his lines for the interview with Solid Brix should be let go. Also I worked out the numbers behind the vote using the info released and approximations fro bomber/nebulon support: Gunship 30k - 58% Nebulon 19.1k - 37% Bomber 2.5 - 5% Using these numbers I think its reasonable that there is a real demand for the Nebulon and I would go as far as to say more people that voted would purchase one because more older people purchase the UCS sets and the Nebulon is OT. I hope we see this and the bomber in the next couple of years as they must have designed them already.
  19. For the record I don't want a P2 Cody in this set and you're right I have no clue what minifig won the vote but IMO it makes a lot of sense to put a AOTC pilot in this set regardless of the votes outcome cause it makes more sense as a complement to the ship then Mace or Ponds. According to lego's post the Gunship got 30,000 votes and I never thought they would actually release that info but if they were to release all the vote outcomes that would be great cause then we wouldn’t speculate on whether the figure choice was reflective of the vote. Also I think the reason nobody thinks "____________ figures are in this set, so perhaps those are the figures that got the most votes." is because Mace Windu isn't a character I think of when I think Gunship and neither is Commander Ponds.
  20. The set looks fantastic and is a day one purchase for me. Since I've never had a gunship before I'm really excited to get my hand on it and fill it with the 501st regardless of scale. I know UCS is for the builds and I have never had an issue with any of the fig choices (exclusive or not) in other UCS models but for this set specifically I think figs are kind of important. To reiterate, I understand UCS is for display not figs but considering it is $350 and a fan voted set IMO its ok to at least ask the question of why there was a section of the vote to pick a figure if those desires were never going to be considered. Just my opinion. Anyway I'm still gonna pick this up and am delighted we finally get a prequel UCS set and that I have the ability to buy one.
  21. Since college was online I got a job and the majority of my purchases are Tech/Lego plus I don't pay rent so I'm pretty lucky that way. However in general more younger people in high school and college have jobs nowadays just to get more pocket money which is why I think more people my age are spending more.
  22. Yah, myself and many of my friends fall into this boat which why I'm pretty confident when I say prequel UCS will sell well cause we all have jobs/college and have the buying power to do so. I would prefer more wholistic prequel content then just TCW but I'd also like to see some characters that were in TCW like, Cham, Saw, or one of the many clones we never got. Edit: Does anyone know if Mandr is a trusted leak. I know he's got stuff right in the past but in his tweet he says the imperial logo is on the box and that the clone is yellow but I thought we already confirmed a red clone from someone else. I think it would be a really really idiotic decision to put the wrong logo on the box and so I don't believe him fro that reason.
  23. I meant the version in the pic not the CW version. I'm pretty sure we've never had this one without the fin. I think you might have missed my point. I wasn't trying to say that PT fans are a majority but rather that you can't know for sure either way and trends indicate that when kids grow up and start to spend money the things they grew up with influence their purchasing patterns (Ex. Me with CW and every Ahsoka and Rex minifig). Also the OT will always be dominant because they are the most iconic so TLG would be dumb to not always have x-wings on shelves. However the fact remains that if they wanted to make even more money they'd make more prequel/clone related sets because even though the consensus in this forum might be that prequel fans don't make up a majority their are many pieces of evidence that suggests that's what SW Lego fans want. Everything from the 501st BP movement, to the many Lego clone customs available, and the most telling, the prices for clones on Bricklink and other third party sites. The demand is there and doesn't seem to want to be filled by TLG. Also, the success of CW Black Series should be an indicator to Lego that SW fans of all ages, not just little kids or serious Lego collectors, will buy SW stuff if it's well made. But then again that's just my opinion and what do I know.
  24. While I agree the community is not "overwhelmingly prequel fans" you can't deny that things like Mandr's influecene and support lends credence to the theory that a majority of LSW fans are younger and prefer the prequel sets more. That's not to say they will buy the set and sure they might have voted with the aim of supporting the prequels but you don't know that for a fact just the same way nobody knows who really won the set vote. Just cause a few people in this thread voted with no intention of purchasing doesn't mean that all the people who voted for a different first-choice set would buy that one. Also the simple fact that certain fans in specific areas can't/couldn't get prequel/CW sets that they wanted (AAT for me) shows the demand is there even of the vote was lampooned by prequel fans. I'll be playing along with the bingo card the first insta post reaction I see cause its gonna be a moan fest however, I'm still curious about the mini-fig vote and why Lego did one if they weren't going to make any of the figs requested (That's not to say p2 cody was most requested or that mace windu and a Clone commander weren't). I personally wanted a p1 pilot cause we've never got one and they're prominent in the Gunship scenes from ATOC.
