LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

While it looks to be an excellent OT wave the fact is most people want the new stuff that corresponds with stuff that came out or is coming out in 2022. Also just cause TLG does one good wave doesn't mean fans can't hope/ask for another. This shouldn't be a be happy with what you get situation cause there's a lot of new stuff that should be made that isn't and so people have every right to mention it. I don't know if BB shuttle will sell well but I think we will get more sets regardless because it's a popular show that will get multiple seasons so it's gotta have some coverage. -

I don't know if this is a fair assessment of the fandom cause a lot of us grew up on TCW, not the prequels so when we think of clones not as background in ROTS but the starts of TCW. Now we want clones armies from the show no matter the legion/color and so white clones just fit in there. The reason the white clone is so popular is because of its versatility with each legion and Jedi. They're perfect for whatever type of moc or build you might wanna make based of the Clone Wars. Therefore regardless of their screentime, of which they still have tons compared to some of the troops Lego has given us, they should be made available in a $15-$30 set to from Bad Batch this year. I think we'll see a similar breakdown as last year. Many OT for the start of the year with two or three non-OT (Microfighter, Palace, Hallway scene) then we'll see maybe 2 Mando, 1 Boba, 1 Kenobi, 2 BB, and 2 OT sets during the summer. Though I would rather they take a break from OT and release only new stuff that kind of wave with some diversity would be great for a summer wave after or while the new D+ shows are streaming. Also after the Republic Tank, and Dark trooper rumors this wave is getting better but to me is still disappointing seeing as Lego will have so much D+ content to go off they shouldn't be releasing only 3 non-OT sets. Visions could have had 1 set this wave and TCW should probably also have one (and I don't give any weight to the Tank rumor cause it feels so fake). However, if the sets look incredible then I'll have to bite my tongue but right now I'm just kind of disappointed. -

I doubt TLG designers watch the gallery episodes on the Mandalorian but yah that'd be cool. I guess this might not be a BP but since Fulcrum called it that I'm gonna say that it's a dumb decision to include Luke in a BP. BP's are for army building and so if I want to build out a squad of 30 dark troopers then I'd need to buy 10 and I'd end up with 10 Luke's I don't want. If the set isn't a BP then this isn't an issue but if it is like the 501st BP then this is another way Lego is squeezing every last dollar out of the stuff fans actually want. (which they have every right to do it just pisses me off) -
Wishlist: Future Star Wars Sets and Minifigures

This list is so good I nearly teared up. After my recent rewatch of Rebels this summer I want every single one of these but I don't know what the likelihood is we might get any. Hopefully, if the Gunship does well TLG will make more prequel UCS sets, which will lead to SWTV UCS which will lead to a legendary UCS Ghost. All we can do is hope. -

I think you hit the nail on the head with "why pick a vehicle that is on the fringes of canon at best". That's just something Lego would do cause they're lego. If it were to happen then I think it would have to be more expensive than $30 and it would end up being 75325, the set without a price tag, and I'd price it at $40-$50. There's no way they would sell 3 clones and Mace for $30 cause they like to be stingy with clone figs and these clones would be flying off shelves. -

Where did you get this info cause none of the popular Instagram leakers have posted about it and falcon said he's not sure if it's legit on his story. If it is true then it's one set I will definitely be buying no matter the price cause the rest of the wave is looking like a pass. Having 187th troopers included is the one thing that makes this rumor so sus but hopefully it's true and we get some quality prequel content. -

This is great work and all your math checks out but you have taken the most expensive set at 159.99 and compared it to a potential CMF at 4.99, however, your argument makes so much sense I thought I'd pose a question. Let's apply the same logic to the Obi-Wan figure from last year that was sold individually. According to the math and the contract, Lego can sell the fig (which they did) and make a sh*t ton of money on it cause it has an excellent profit margin (Less than 15 pieces sold at 5 dollars per bag). So from a business perspective why would we have not already seen a Lego SW polybag minifig line unless Lego didn't want to make the figs available this way. Remember the argument that its breach of contract is mute since it has the extra 5-6 pieces that make it a building toy and the argument that it wouldn't sell well is also gone cause @MSY-MSP proved you wouldn't need as many sales to make absurd amounts of profit. I don't think it's a long con or theory that Lego can make CMFs but won't cause they hate fans but according to the math and what constitutes a building toy (a brick-built stand), they should have already had one. -

I think I understand what you're saying but then why was Lego able to sell the Obi-Wan figure from 2019 last year. I'm not saying Lego is lying but they never actually said they couldn't make CMF's but people just theorized. IMO lego probably could always release CMF's but didn't see the point in selling a product for $5 that they could sell in a $30-$160 set and also no point in fighting with Hasbro. They have every right to sell whatever they want but the action figure theory just seems a little convoluted. -

1. I too want a Home One. It would be one of two OT vehicles that I desperately want. 2. I hope you're right about BB but given the squad (and the ship) has been around since CW-7 we'd get something new that actually showed up in the show. Ya, along with nearly the entire ROS line except for the Falcon. This leads me to believe that there won't be a downscaled falcon until at least 2023 cause there needs to be at least one on shelves. (not counting UCS cause that's $800) Visions semi spoilers below: -

I believe the helmet sets are meant to come out in April but are being moved up to make the wave more robust. Also Covid production issues are now more behind us so more lego in Jan and no mini-march wave. However the fact theirs 3 sets left and none rumored areBad Batch does not bode well for the D+ shows this year. I'm holding out hope but it does not seem to be following the mandalorian run of sets. Also the chances of Kotor sets is not all gone since lego gaming is now a thing and it would fit under that theme as well as SW. -

I doubt it cause the scene with Yoda isn't really training but more of a prank by Yoda that somehow made it into TLG. And given the circumstances around that film, I doubt we get a set from such an obscure scene. You can have your opinion on him but stop shifting the goalposts. When he leaked stuff he got hate and now that he has the info but won't leak he's getting off on "holding it over us". Personally, I think he and the other lego YTers know the info but won't leak cause Lego's holding the threat of striking their channels; which they can do cause of YT's rules. I'm not sure if the same is true for Instagram but it seems like that's why they don't break news anymore. Honestly same. If we're only gonna get OT for the 1st half of 2022 then they might as well be different. The detention center idea seems to good to be true but I guess we can hope. -

The design team for Lego makes excellent sets and are (IMO) the best Lego design team however, it would be nice if some of them cared a little more about the SW side of the lego and not just the designs. I think that's one too many for it to just be a coincidence so he definitely has the list but isn't realizing it so he doesn't receive the hate that he surely will if he does. I really hope this means his accessory pack video is based on leaks and we're getting a Hower figure. I really enjoyed him in BB and want to see his fig. Also, Cody would be great and would fit great here. The palace set will probably be the only set that I actually want from this wave. However, since there are only 2-3 sets left in the wave this means the Bad Batch is getting no love and that really pisses me off. Please tell us your knowledge. -

Then my question is what is it. In this forum, the Lego SW market is sometimes adults and OT fans or sometimes young kids depending on the discussion or rumor of the day. IMO the market is kids for smaller sets priced at $15-$160, while the UCS/MBS models are meant for adult collectors and some young adults. While he doesn't have millions of views Mandr gets more views per SW video than his Lego counterparts and this IMO is representative of the younger generation of Lego SW fans. From being on this forum for a while I'm gonna guess I'm one of the younger people here and so I have experienced the internet very differently from most. Most people my age (college/HS) were introduced to the internet through Youtube so for example Lego fans like myself will have similar opinions to the other people in the YT Lego SW community. My opinions on PT and CW sets will be reflected in YT videos like Mandr's or BrickWiz's. Youtube is immensely popular with young kids and they are getting online at higher rates so I think the people in YT communities are more representative of the collective than any forum ever could be. Also, this isn't an endorsement of Mandr and his fans before someone quotes me. I can't speak on buying for someone younger cause I buy for me but I'll take your word for it when it comes to gifting however I don't think the parents are making all the decisions on which sets to get. While parents are making the purchases I'd guess kids would make choices so if they recognize Captain Rex or Ahsoka from their favorite show then they're gonna wanna buy that set from CW and not the one from ANH that their parents think is iconic. Also in this scenario where $30 is the sweet spot, I don't see how the Lanspeeder is selling well at all-cause kids (who grew up w/clones and CW) would rather have a bunch of clones and battle droid in a BP rather than Luke, 3-PO and a speeder. Anyway, I didn't mean to stray somewhat off topic but my larger point is still that PT sets are getting more and more recognizable and need more rep in Lego SW. Was typing when this was edited. Disregard my response to you. -

2 points here: 1. The Landspeeder is not more iconic than a Venator or Gunship. That was true from 1977-2010 but it is not anymore. 2. An average person on the street isn't buying Lego, a young SW fan or adult collector is. If I ask a child what their fav SW vehicles are the answers would be X-wing, Tie Fighter, Falcon, Gunship, and Razorcrest. We are not in 2010 anymore, the world doesn't hate prequels as much and fans are watching the new stuff far more than the old. The Gunship's appearance in animated shows and the Razorcrests' in the Mandalorian have catapulted them in popularity with younger audiences who are Lego's primary consumer base. If you think from the point of view of a 35-40-year-old then yeah the Landspeder and Walker are more iconic but if you have the point of view of a 9/14-year-old then you realize they probably want clones and Baby Yoda. I don't like to site Mandr in this forum cause that brings him hate but I think his videos and comment sections are an accurate representation of how children and young adults feel about Lego SW as of late. Young kids who grew up and still watch the CW era/ Mando era material want more of those sets rather than a new TIE or walker. Yeah, they might whine and complain but that's how the average fans of any fanbase popular on the interwebs acts. -

If you genuinely think Rebels, Solo, and R1 are prequel era then you need to rewatch the saga cause they all take place over 10 years after the ending of the prequel era (ROTS). The different eras aren't corresponding solely with the films but rather the ruling faction and story at that moment. The Prequel Era is the High Republic and the Fall of the Jedi. The Original Trilogy Era is the Reign of the Empire and Age of Rebellion. The Sequel Trilogy Era is the New Republic and Rise of the First Order. That's the official Disney breakdown from the start of this year so there's no arguing that. Now that that's established, the fact they weren't counted as OT for the graph is dumb cause they are all effectively imperial era shows just how absurdly high the OT era sets have been represented in Lego over the last 5 years. Many vehicles that probably didn't need remakes so soon after the movie version got remakes like the AT-ST after next year we'll have had 3 in 4 years, or the Tie Fighter which will have 5 (one being first order) in 6 years. The point is fans have a right to be annoyed as more of the 2022 rumors look bleak and overly OT. -

You're right about the CW dominating for a stretch but ever since TFA, outside of movie releases, the sets have been overwhelmingly OT compared to PT. X-Wings and Tie fighters are iconic so they're a given/must but we've had more variations on Luke's Landspeeder than the MTT, ARC-170, Venator, V-Wing, CW Y-Wing, Turbo Tank, AT-TE, and Gunship. That's dumbfounding if you actually think about it. I know the land speeder has about 5-10 minutes of screentime in ANH and the republic ships only have 2-3 minutes each but it's still ridiculous given the circumstance. We're not asking for one every few years but maybe do one every 5 instead of every 8 years. Now on top of that the Landspeeder is getting a UCS set before all of those PT ships which is the ultimate meme. I really hope the Landspeeder looks good and is done well cause I like collecting all the UCS models but that doesn't change the fact that the over saturation of OT sets over the last 5-6 years is dumb. Also the Venator might have only been 3-4 years old back then but it isn't now. It has possibly the most screentime of any PT ship, save the Gunship, across all media making it a prime candidate for a UCS version. Anyways, I hope the new wave isn't entirely Hoth and if it is I hope we get Home 1 or one of the Rebel Cruiser type ships. We've never got one of those before so that'd be nice addition. I hadn't read this when I posted the earlier bit but I guess the data proves OT is more than over-represented by Lego. -

Anyways, I don't think the theory holds water cause if he had a list or some sort of leak he would make a video as he did for the summer wave last year. However, there's also no need to hate someone in this forum for watching Mandr, or off yourself in emoji form just cause someone pointed out a fair coincidence, that's a bit of an overreaction. Also since Mandr's no longer a LAN member and more of the big content creators like just2good have left LAN I would expect them to cover any rumors they personally received no matter how much evidence cause they don't need concrete evidence and those videos will do better if they leak first. -

The assumption that the average fan hasn't watched CW is, IMO, outdated and wrong. With how accessible the SW TV shows are now and how mainstream CW Season 7 was the average SW fan has most definitely watched portions if not all the CW. It's not 2008 anymore so the Venator and Arc have gotten a lot more screentime and out of a crowd, I guarantee they're more recognizable as SW than a Landspeeder. Also, I have a question about displaying the Gunship. Has anyone attempted to remove one wing since it's so large cause I can't seem to work out how without it affecting the cannons in some way. Also, sorry mod if this is the wrong place to ask this so here we are. -

Where is all this "data" that OT UCS sets sell well? Whenever I have gone to my local Ledo store or onto the shop at the home site the UCS A-Wing, Star Destroyer, and now R2 is always available and never sell out. I didn't want the Y-Wing but before that retired it too was never sold out. The only UCS sets that have been true sell-outs are the Falcon and Slave 1 which I could never find in store or at shop at home. The notion that OT sets sell incredibly well is not backed by any actual evidence but rather a theory that middle-aged men across the globe are buying up all the stock with their disposable incomes. Don't get me wrong OT UCS will definitely be more popular with that crowd than prequels but there's no actual quantitative data to point to that proves these sales. If you want to make the assumption that OT is popular cause TLG keeps making them I suggest you look at shop at home and see that the super popular sets are still readily available. Of course, none of this really matters cause TLG can do whatever they like, and just cause some fans don't want a meme UCS set doesn't mean they're gonna stop and suddenly make a Venator. However I have had enough of people in this forum constantly saying "prequels don't sell, OT does" there's quite literally zero proof of that, in fact, that there's more proof that the recent UCS models haven't sold well. Note: Reading this back I sound a little "hostile," didn't mean to come off that way. -

I'd say CW and Mando haven't got as many sets as they should have considering the Winter stuff from this year was almost entirely OT. Endor deserves more sets but it's a nearly 40-year old movie and isn't as iconic as its predecessor so it won't get as many as it's neither as iconic nor new media. I was just pointing out the irony in defending Lego using exaggerations and then being pissed at others for many exaggerations when critiquing TLG. I've never bought a minifig pack but I assume it would work well for clone battalions and different SW factions and maybe even better than CMF's since it's multiple figs per. However I'd still love to see a CMF cause there's a lot of characters from the prequels, OT, and CW that I would love to see but wouldn't in normal sets or multi-fig pack. I believe one of the designers said there was going to be a new licensed CMF in 2022 and if he wasn't talking about the Muppets leak then there's hope for SW. I know OT sets sell well so making UCS versions is always a good idea for Lego but how can u justify making a Landspeeder and not more prequels UCS sets. There are far more iconic vehicles with more screentime and far more relevancy like an ARC-170 or Venator. If the Gunship sales are the reason for no prequel sets until 2023 then shouldn't the same process be applied to OT UCS? NO, because one sets of sales shouldn't dictate whether 3 films worth of content get UCS treatment. -

This is really tone-deaf cause it's not like ROTJ came out last year and Lego's not making sets; it's nearly 40 years old. CW, Mandalorian, and BB all came out relatively recently and haven't gotten nearly as much love as OT sets. Also, I really like Hoth so I'm incredibly happy with this wave but the release window it's happening in is bad cause we've had so much new SW media that going back to ESB is illogical. Also, now exaggeration is allowed but not aimed at Lego because the multi-billion dollar corporation and its designers who don't read or care about this forum will be fired. I promise you Lego will not fire anyone cause user671829828 said he was upset over a Lego leak in a youtube comment section; so no need to constantly defend them and take everything literally. -

Lego is in love with Hoth and I know it sells well but holy crap they really love it. 50% of the leaked sets have been Hoth and considering all the new content on the way and releasing this year I'm starting to believe in the Lego is stuck in the past theory. I love Hoth but with over 6 new SW projects from 2020-22, I feel like half a wave for Hoth sets is a bit much. -

It's a problem but speaks to a larger one that you don't seem to understand. The carlessness for this set is what pisses me off and what will affect sales. Also even though they fixed it the fact is that it should never have happened. The designer shouldn't have equated a commander to a pilot and then reiterated it a month later in that designer video. From your responses, I'm going to guess that you don't care about all the mistakes and carelessness that TLG has done over the years but just cause you to feel that way doesn't mean everyone else has to. Some of us care a little more and would like TLG to listen to fans and not make as many errors. Also, on youtube and Reddit there is a lack of accountability, unlike here, and so people can say whatever they want. Those kinds of mobs exist with every franchise and every product and I think you already know that so equating them with me isn't accurate. Also, it's not just the "certain" YouTuber that thinks it's an issue, alot of the YouTubers made videos about it and I think Brick Wiz summarised it best and most professionally. Watch his video and then get back to me. Also for the record, I only care about the PR stuff cause it's going to affect whether or not more prequel UCS stuff is made. MOst of the people who don't care and think its no big deal probably don't care for prequels UCS sets and that's completely fine but it doesn't mean the rest of us can't
