  1. I'm so excited they finally made a P2 Cody and it'll round out my clone commanders model so I'm overjoyed with the AT-TE. Also, the exclusion of Obi-Wan is perfect cause that means I can pick up 2 AT-TE's launch day and only have one repeat named fig. I'm very interested in what PB means by revamped clone gunner cause I don't see how you could build on the previous one without dual molding or adding a piece for the breastplate. Also, the new P2 helmets that all the troops have is great and hopefully stick for all clones going forward. I guess this means Cody didn't need a new mold just holes in the side of the head so I don't get why it took so long. Nevertheless, it's great that he's coming and all of the other sets sound fantastic, especially the inquisitor ship, I'm looking forward to getting the fifth brother cause it's a fig that I missed out on during my dark ages. I don't think it's that much of a stretch to say this might be the one of greatest Summer SW waves of all time and depending on how some of these look it could be #1. We Won
  2. While I agree with you compelety on fig-price correlation. The 2nd selection is absolutely goated.
  3. Fairs. I didn't know promobricks had confirmed I thought it was one of those insta rumors.
  4. But since it was never confirmed that there was a Kaminoan in the starfighter set could it not be an Interceptor. The rumored Kaminoan could then show up in the justifier instead and the reason for the rumor is there was a simple numbers mix up on the part of leakers. I think it makes too much sense to have an EP 3 Obi-Wan Interceptor and an EP 3 AT-TE with the same Obi-Wan on shelves so there won't be an overproduction of the fig cause it can go in both sets. It'd be a very Lego thing to do. Space Jesus Theory: A theory I think is more fun is that Lego and Lucasfilm are going absolutely all out for the Kenobi Show and they have planned a crap ton of Obi-Wan sets from both the show (the Inquisitor ship + versus set) and prequels (EP 2 fighter + EP 3 AT-TE). That way there can be multiple generations of Obi-Wan on shelves all at the same time and so as the show gains popularity over the summer buyers of all ages can grab their new favorite character in all of his glorious appearances. Also Anyway, the chances that this is true are very low but as someone who loves Space Jesus, I hope it is.
  5. I think the Lars Homestead looks fantastic and I'm stoked it's the promo though the price criteria seems a little "Star Wars's up" if you know what I mean. It's sad they didn't do something special for the 20th anniversary of AOTC but fingers are crossed for a Genesis arena this fall. Also for the record, while I would have preferred that the May 4th promo fig wasn't OT, Aunt Beru is long overdue and nobody can complain about getting her especially since she's a part of that laundry list of SW characters who have no love from LSW (Beru, Shmi, All the Kaminoans, All the Clone Commanders/Commandos, Dexter, Wat Tambor, Captain Typho, Nien Nub, etc...)
  6. Enough with the bootlicking unless you're being paid to do spin for Lego this is a ridiculously long reply; But then again I'm complaining about toys on a forum at 10 AM and I got nothing better to do today so what the hell. Point 1 the designers design a variety of sets and have many models ready many years prior to their release so to say they have no way of choosing what gets made is not only wrong but makes you misinformed. Point 2 I don't think it's unreasonable to say that the Chamber sold poorly compared to the CW and Mando sets because as you pointed out with the Mando fighter it too has gone on sale. Nonetheless, I don't have any sales figures in front of me so I don't know for sure; but you don't either so the point's mute. However, in that statement, I was responding to @MKJoshA about the general fan feeling towards the dioramas and chamber set versus designers' comments so in that way I'd say I'm right in saying the average lego fan is not thrilled with the recent promos. I don't think it's a stretch to say fans would prefer figures to micro-scale dioramas and THUS I said TLG don't listen to fan complaints. That's my bad on the wording though. Point 3 The 501st BP is one set that was asked for and delivered at a higher price point to reap as much money off fans as possible (I gotta respect it but still rather rude from Lego). You can't keep going back to that one set as proof that Lego listens to fans. We'd have a lot more if Lego consistently listened to fans. Point 4 The price of sets has not only risen because of inflation but also because TLG knows people like you will buy the set regardless and will defend their unreasonable price hikes no matter what. The most recent dioramas are ridiculously small when compared to the price and don't talk to me about PPP cause that's a horrible way of judging a set's value. Maybe to you, the sets aren't overpriced and that's great for you but for the rest of us normal people $59.99 dollars for what is a bonified May the 4th promo is ridiculous. Now to the crux of my point, these "adult" sets are a gold mine for TLG cause by adding a black border and a quote piece they can slap an extra $30 dollars to the price point of each of these sets and somehow fans are still gonna buy it and it will be made into the new normal.
  7. I think this is down to designers loving their work and wanting to support it regardless of success. From what fans on here and all over the internet have said I'd bet my life that the Chamber did not sell well last summer and was definitely beaten out by CW and Mando sets but they are for SW and lego fans while these dioramas are for older OT SW fans who have disposable income that they can burn. I'm sure the new dioramas will be hailed as a success by Lego even if regular fans won't buy cause there will always be a market for these overpriced collectors models. Also, TLG rarely listens to fan complaints; if they did we wouldn't have as many overpriced sets.
  8. To be clear I don't care that the Gunship didn't have good/exclusive figs. I bought the model because it looks fantastic on display and that's why I've bought every UCS set I have but I don't understand why the same rules can't apply to all UCS models. Also, I don't give a crap about prequel fans vs TLG, that's a dumb conspiracy drummed up by people who don't understand the difference between real vs internet However to address your second point of figs being exclusive for a while and then made widely available that's not something I'm opposed to BUT now that I've had time to actually look at the fighter tank picture Mace seems to have dual molded arms. If that is the case then it's an absolute slap in the face to the Gunship model and entire mini-figure controversy from last year and shows TLG is incredibly tone-deaf.
  9. I guess that's fair but then why not do a special pilot or a "more detailed" Windu variant if the stance is variants are ok but exclusives aren't. I don't think thats a fair characterization but to each his own. I'd much rather "play the victim" and point out simple facts/trends then lick Lego's boot from heel to toe. On another note, the fighter tank looks great, a bit small but that's fine. The purple troops look fantastic too and its refreshing to see that different clone legions are being given love by Lego. Hopefully, if this sells well we'll see a yearly clone set with a different legion (I'm praying for 104th).
  10. Even if Mace doesn't come out in another set it's still hypocritical from Lego to releases such an awesome figure with the UCS landspeeder when they said the reason for not including any cool/exclusive figs in the Gunship was to not gatekeep through price. It's a slap in the face to prequel and Gunship fans to be THIS hypocritical. I totally get the pay wall argument and I think its smart to make cool figs more accessible but they've just walked that back for an original trilogy UCS set cause they know it's gonna be unpopular if they don't put this type of effort into the figures that are supposed to be "a bonus and not the reason for purchase."
  11. I guess I get the mould cost argument but I still think ppp shouldn't heavily weigh into a set's "value" cause while Dagobah and the trench run have great ppp ratios I still don't think they're worth their prices and I'll wait for a sale.
  12. I don't really get the whole price per piece thing cause even if the ratio is good but the size of the pieces is incredibly small compared to larger-scale playsets pieces then it makes no difference. I don't really see the point of more pieces being better if all the pieces are smaller; For example, it's not like ten 1x1 tiles took any more plastic to make than one 2x5 but according to PPP the 2x5 would be worse cause its only one lego piece. I'd love to know if there's another reason for price per piece being used in the AFOL community but that's how I think of it in my head. Are we sure it comes with Tuan We cause it was never confirmed to be an Episode 2 fighter and the way leaks and numbers have been changing constantly and fake rumors have spread this year I'm not sure if we will see Tuan We. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a giant curveball and we get a Kaminon in a Bad Batch set like Cad Bane's ship or something like it.
  13. Both sets look absolutely fantastic and would have been day one purchases for me until I saw the price tags. $60 and $80 dollars for a beefed-up May the 4th promo and black-box Yoda's hut is outrageous and indicates what the Darth Vader Meditation Chamber discussion last year alluded to. I remember people in this forum saying it was over-priced then but still a fair deal because it was something incredibly unique and "adult". I didn't think a black box and a specific type of box art should warrant an additional $20-$30 back then and I don't now. A new/exclusive figure like a force ghost Obi-Wan or a larger model for the trench run might have made these two sets more unique and befitting those prices but right now the trench run is an easy pass and the hut is 20-30% sale buy.
  14. I take back everything bad I've ever said about TLG. They're the greatest company to ever exist ever. They've finally answered the prayers for more clones from different legions.
  15. TBOBF pilot was kinda mid but it was still cool and there are a lot of sets I could see coming out of the very first episode.
  16. Not sure if that's a fair characterization since the CW set is a brickhaed and was voted by the fans, the prequel set isn't a UCS tie-in since the Gunship isn't minifig scale/the fig is reused, and the Mandalorian set is a micro fighter. Also, the gripes about the 1H of 2022 being OT were because in addition to the 3 OT Jan sets we're also getting 3 OT diorama style sets, an OT UCS set, and an OT helmet (adding up to a total of 8). All while the Bad Batch gets 0, TBOBF gets 2, and Mando gets 3 (MF, helmet, and Death troopers). The ratio doesn't make any sense considering the latter 3 are popular shows from 2021-2022 and the OT is nearly 45 years old and the locations/ships being made aren't in new media. I get it sells and all but some people want something new for a change, and before you type your special I already see the replies saying we drag the same discussion every couple of days but when you say stuff like "I also find it funny that this wave has been accused of being so OT" without giving context you will end up seeing the same thread. Now from your statement, I'm guessing you're cool with that type of breakdown but I'm genuinely wondering if other people like the OT majority 1h year waves we've been getting as of late and if you want new stuff represented or more OT? I guess I've always just assumed people want new things cause I do since so many people keep defending Lego's set choices I feel like I should ask and no longer assume.
  17. I'm on my knees begging that 75331 is an absolutely massive MBS Endor with the bunker, village AT-ST, and all the Ewoks. Also since 75331 is the only set over $200 (save 75339) I think that means we only get 2 UCS/MBS sets in 2022(if the Landspeeder rumor is true).
  18. I'm pretty sure LEGO thinks of LAN as advertising and a marketing move to grow their presence online. What they fail to do is quell the number of leaks that come from this "network" and take advantage of what their influencers could offer (interviews, panels, etc.) When they kick people like Mandr for being critical of TLG and for reporting on leaks but you don't kick others for leaking you make it "ok" to leak without repercussions. I know Mandr is hated on here but unlike other LAN creators like Brickwiz and Solid Bricks he criticizes and critiques Lego's actions. Thus he seems like he's more genuine and is actually honest. I personally don't trust LAN member opinions cause most of them will end up getting the Mandr treatment if they give critical reviews and I think a lot of people feel the same way. I can see why LAN was started and can be good but when you have rampant leaks combined with tainted reviews(again that's my opinion but I think a lot of people would agree) I don't see how it's a good thing for Lego. I think its shows that most people didn't really care for rumor about p1 variants cause we/they wanted p2 versions of Rex and Cody instead. Also, I personally wanted army building from the accessory packs so I'm happy (even though commander isn't ideal its still cool).
  19. Honestly, Rex and Cody were too good to be true for TLG in 2022. At this rate, we'll probably have to wait till 2030 for either variation. However, the two accessory packs look really cool if you disregard the rumors. I especially like the Hoth one though the female trooper looks identical to the AT-ST one so I wish they had chosen a different head. Also, Ahsoka's brickheadz looks great and will be my only day 1 purchase on Jan 1st.
  20. Yeah, I think X-wings both are made more because their iconic and deserve to be made more precisely because of that popularity. While I would argue that Lucasfilm has a say Lego "wears the pants" in set decisions cause in the past even though Lucasfilm has made requests for certain ships to be made Lego has overridden them and chosen what they prefer. The example that comes to mind is the Krennic Shuttle and Zeta Class Cargo Shuttle; Lucasfilm/Disney wanted the shuttle but Lego made the Krennic Shuttle instead (IMO it was the right choice) Also as someone who owns the cantina, it's easily one of my T3 favorite sets so I love that designer and I don't mean to call out designers but rather posing the theory that they are designers first and fans second. Also, I hope I'm not coming off like a crybaby/nitpicker but I think on a $350 set there should be no errors on things as simple as box art and designer videos. Obviously, that's already past so it doesn't matter anymore but it's just one of those things that irked me. However, the fact that we are getting Rex and Cody makes me think were shifting towards newer stuff and Lego is open to listening to fans. I criticize Lego a lot on this forum cause I think they should be held accountable but when Lego does new things and listens to their fans I have to give them credit as it points to more positives in the future. Also since we're getting p1 variants of Rex and Cody which only appeared in animation there's NO REASON NOT TO BRING BACK THE GHOST AND ITS CREW. TLG I know you got people on here reading our comments I'm on my knees right now begging for a new ghost please make it happen. I think his helmet's a bit different and the leg color is lighter brown but that could just be lighting.
  21. Again that's fair but we've never had two different versions of a named character from CW out at the same time so I'm not sure why everyone is saying it will happen. Lucasfilm doesn't make decisions on what sets Lego makes that Lego's higher-ups. I didn't mean to say they chose the sets but rather to reinforce the point that X-wings are shown more love than clones. Also, comments and mistakes from this year's gunship release lowkey make me think they genuinely don't care as much about any of the SW specifics and facts. I know their job is to design and not know SW but it'd be pretty cool if they didn't say stuff like Pilot=yellow clone and got the right logo on their boxes.
  22. I'd argue the X-Wings are so popular and loved by TLG designers that they are open to making multiples from different eras but clones aren't. Therefore again IMO, the likelihood of us seeing both is low. Also, I don't think customers buying = pro-consumer. By campaigning so much for a set the demand was always gonna be there and it was going to sell out because of how popular the trooper and movement was. Making the set $30 when the movement and demand were for a $15 BP is what makes it anti-consumer. Making the set double what it would have cost originally for the expressed purpose of taking advantage of that demand is both great marketing and bad for the consumer.
  23. That's my mistake then. I was under the impression accessory packs included new molds but I guess Lego is really pinching pennies nowadays. I think you've put the situation really well but IMO the new setup seems to just eek out as many dollars as possible from consumers. The increased price of regular BP's with no added value (even with inflation) is insane but would be ok if accessory packs took the place of army builders. The fact that they don't means the price of army building has gone up 33% with no new alternative. I've said it before in this forum but the 501st BP being $30 was TLG taking advantage of established demand (which is fair) and their way of changing the status quo for army-building and BPs. It's an incredible marketing maneuver and I commend their marketing team for turning what was a negative into a major positive and nearly doubling their profits. HOWEVER, what I don't get is why so many people in this forum are ok with the drastic increase in prices and religiously defend Lego and their decisions. Even with inflation, the price hike is insane and so ant-consumer that the bootlicking doesn't make sense to me. Now I hope I don't sound too based when I say this but you do not have to religiously defend corporations for doing anti-consumer things cause I think fans are disappointed because instead of p2 variants we're getting p1 variants of two popular characters and we've also lost the only prequel (movie) set of the wave. In addition, we can't army build with the set anymore since there will be named characters and this confirms that BPs will be our only army builders and those are also more expensive. I'm still happy with the set but those are the reasons why people are still complaining.
  24. I missed a whole lot but I think it's really cool we get Rex and Cody even if it's p1. I definitely would prefer p2 but getting two new figs is awesome as long as they are done right. If they don't have custom face prints I will be really disappointed but that's my only worry for this set. I don't understand why they would do p1 versions instead of p2 versions since there less popular/relevant to modern media, nor are they more requested (not to say they aren't requested but def not as much as p2). IMO the choice further exemplifies the feeling that Lego is taking half-measures instead of going all the way with their SW products, I know new molds are expensive but accessory packs are supposed to have new molds and pieces so it would be the perfect place to have p2 variants. Nevertheless, I'll buy one cause it's cooler than the other rumored stuff coming this year and I love Rex and Cody no matter their variant. P1 troopers are 100% less desirable to P2 variants I'd bet the house on that. Also, I don't know what you mean by "more likely that we get both in the near future" the fact that we're getting P1 variants means we probably won't see P2 Rex and Cody for another 2-3 years cause there's no way they let both versions be on shelves at the same time. That's probably another reason some fans will be upset about getting p1 versions.
