9397 Technic Logging Truck
Kronos replied to paul_delahaye's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I agree, Paul. There is less friction noise with the tan/black combo. Maybe the tan ones, in order to get the color correct, are a slightly different compound? Or maybe the tan color added MAKES them a slightly different compound? Or maybe... I have no idea what I'm talking about?...... -

The instructions look AWESOME! Great job. Everything you did worked great. I agree with above, very unique techniques in this build. I learned alot just reading them. The build stalled because I am waiting on parts, too. -
Toys R Us ripping us off?
Kronos replied to DarkShadow73's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I won't shop @ TRU anymore. If I want something I'll get it through LEGO S@H. I might consider it if they run a GREAT sale, otherwise I'll just order it and wait. -
Broken 3L universal couplings

The cable tie would still have the "female" end still attached, correct? Would that possibly interfere with anything? How about fishline, wrapped several times around, then knotted? -

The parts list comes w/purchase. I would know. I would wait to post it on Rebrickable until hearing directly from Paul. Professional courtesy and all. Paul's a great guy, and probably won't mind, someday, but he may want to wait. He and Eric put a LOT of time into this whole thing. -

Mine was the same way.?? I was surprised when people said the new triangles were in theirs. I actually checked my parts bin to make sure! Oh well, maybe the next one I buy will have the new triangles. -

efferman, that truck is amazing. When I first say this model, that is what I thought it should look like. Awesome job, as usual. -

The 2011 Wrap-up Topic
Kronos replied to captainmib's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
What a year!! This year saw the end of my 20+yr dark age from LEGO. Boy did I go crazy!! I have Crowkiller's Gallardo, Jovel's Black Dragon, Nico-71's Jeep and Pro-Truck, Erik Leppen's Pagani, Nathaniel Kuiper's Concept car, Jurgen Krooshoop's Little Devil and Sunbeam, and Skyliners Countach all on display. Not to mention I bought 2-8070's, 3-8081's, 3-8041's, 8071, 8069, 8068, 8048, 8051, 8052, 8262, 8272, 8273, 8282, 8289, 8291, 8445, 8465, and my favorite, 8428 Concept Car. This set was responsible for my dark age ending. I'm worknig on my first fullsize MOC right now. All of this was in addition to about 50lbs of mixed bulk LEGO I purchased for my kids. I want to say thanks to all the designers out there, Crowkillers, Jurgen, Kuipers, Grazi, Jovel, Erik Leppen, Nico-71, Sheepo, Blakbird, and any others that inspired me, and made available their designs throughout the year. I look foward to many more years of LEGO and Eurobricks. Thanks to everyone, Mike -
1h 2012 models
Kronos replied to JunkstyleGio's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I bought the 9395. Pretty nice model. It has it's flaws, (V4 engine, ect...) but I like it. Already took it apart for other projects. The 9397 crane arm does look weak, but overall, the model looks good. I'm looking foward to the new black panels it offers. Again, I'll most likely build it once, the tear it down for parts. Probably buy a second for the same thing. The RC and Helicopter are on the list, but the heli is most likely for parts, too. -
From a collector stand point, the 8458. From a MOC builder stand point, the 8466. However, if you MOC more "supercars", you might consider the 8458 instead. Personally, 8458. Look at them both side by side. Which one jumps at you. I've seen more 8458 for sale than 8466.

RC Controller
Kronos replied to Kronos's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks everyone. The small remote it is...or maybe a couple of them. When (IF) I ever finish my own MOC I'll let everyone know. Thanks again. -
Is the 8879 or the 8886 better? Does it matter? I'm going to use it for cars mostly.

Just thought everyone would like to see Paul's newest project. Hope I'm not stepping on anyone's "toes" here... http://www.crowkillers.com/id41.html

The 8428 Concept Car. Not only was the build enjoyable, the end result was awesome. This set ended my 20+yr dark age, and began my OBSESSION with all things super car. The NK Concept, Little Devil, Ferrari 559, Ferrari Enzo, and a MODed Nitro Menace are all on display. Up next, the Sunbeam, then the NK Silver Sportscar.... Someone stop me...
