  1. Love this thread! This is some excellent stuff!
  2. Thank you! I intend to use these buildings which are inspired by Havana in a larger port layout, which I will include in future episodes. It'll be a while until that is completed, however, and it won't be part of the stop-motion series until a couple episodes down the line.
  3. This is beautiful! I love the parts that make it look a bit run-down: the crumbling brick segments and also at the top the different ways to build the bannister. Very nice!
  4. This is very impressive! I also really like that it's life-size.
  5. Thanks Elusys Ra Arwal! I actually prefer many of those brick-built cannon builds to the official cannon mould. :-)
  6. Thanks Fraunces. That game really did suck me in :-) Thanks! Would love to see what you're building! Thanks! It's getting bigger :-) I've completed another building, a baroque palacio: And because I'm in an art mood:
  7. Wow, love this! I'm into art big-time and this is a wonderful combination of art and lego!
  8. I'm a bit late to the party but this is absolutely phenomenal! Makes me want to be a pirate and live there! Fantastic! And Elusys Ra Arwal, I've been using your cannon designs as inspiration, I hope that's ok!
  9. Wow, very creative! I especially love the stairs!
  10. Thanks everyone! I'm glad you like it. The "ground" is polystyrene, painted with some layers of very watered down acrylic paints, so that the paint concentrates in the gaps and cracks of the polystyrene, giving it a bit of a rocky cobblestone look. Jan, I recently found your incredible pirate pictures on Flickr, so it made me smile to see you comment on my moc here. Thanks!
  11. Thanks! When I set out to build a port town in the carribean I thought I would need mainly grey and white, which I always seem to have too little of. When I then researched inspiration I found alot of colour is quite fitting, and I actually love using a lot of colour. Thanks! Thank you Jack. I'm not planning on actually having the historical Havana in the series but rather a large fictional port town set in the mediterranean, including a fort. It'll be a couple episodes before they arrive there though, and I'm still in the beginning stages of building the whole diorama.
  12. I present to you Havana 1717: I took inspiration from the Havana of the PC Game Assasins Creed Black Flag, set in the Golden Age of Piracy. For the blue building in the centre I disassembled my 10252 VW Beetle and used many of the parts to achieve the rounding of the building. I plan on using these buildings as part of a much larger port town layout for future episodes of my stop-motion animation series Being Pirates, So look out for more. Let me know what you think! Check out a current episode of Being Pirates if you like:
  13. Thanks Caiman0367, PXChris, Brickander, JeffBuilds and Supersick_! I'm glad you're enjoying it!
  14. Next Joke: Q: Where's the captain? A: On the POOP deck. That's where he's taken his BOOTY hilarious and well executed moc! thanks for sharing! Very creative too!
  15. I've uploaded episode 2! Had alot of fun with this one. Let me know what you think!
  16. Thanks for the info about your setup for pictures. It sure sounds like alot of work, but it definately seems to be worth it, the end result is perfect! I really appreciate that the background is completely white.
  17. Wow, those new pictures with the crew are wonderful. Especially the one where they are making her ready for prepares, it's really sucking me into that world. The pictures you are shooting are great! What are you using as a white backdrop? I'm imagining it has to be quite large for such a large ship to fit nicely in front of it!
  18. I am very impressed! I love the detailed rigging, the colours and the swivel-guns. A very complete model!
  19. Incredible ship! I especially love the version with the completed hull!
  20. I am very impressed! I love how it retains the colour scheme and style of the black seas barracuda set! The brick-built canons are very well designed!
  21. This is a really well made video! So many great pictures, super well edited and narrated! And it sure gave me a trip down memory lane! I'm lucky enough to have some of the old pirate sets from when I was a kid.
  22. Thanks so much JeffBuilds! If you do ever get around to doing something similar I'd love to see it! Ha ha, Hee-Haw sounds great, playing with pirate lego as a kid are very fond memories for me! There'll be a two-hook pirate in a future episode, as well as one with 2 hooks, 2 peg-legs and two eyepatches. SOOOO piraty! yeah, it is quite dialogue-rich, although the whole season will have a nice story arc with plenty of adventure, a sea battle etc.
  23. Hello everyone! I've updated the first post with Episode 1. Enjoy and let me know what you think!
  24. Thanks everyone! I'll post again when I've released the first episode. The imperial ship is actually not a digital version but a ship I've built. I haven't fully completed it yet but it was enough to put together the quick shot for the trailer. I'll post some pictures when the time comes!
  25. You can now watch all of season 1 of Being Pirates as one short film. I changed some things and added new music. Enjoy! It took me a while, but here it is, the season finale: Episode 6: Vane Indeed. I hope you enjoy and stick around for the after credits scene: And here is episode 5: Episode 4 is up: I've completed Episode 3: Battle at Sea: Episode 2 is online! UPDATE: Episode 1 is online. So if you're up for a swashbuckling adventure filled to the brim with humor, bantering pirates, and pirates being very piraty, then watch Being Pirates! If you like it, feel free to subscribe on youtube and you'll be notified when there's a new episode. Also let me know what you think! Hello There! The formidable Barracuda Bay got me out of my dark ages last march and reignited my Lego fever, especially for lego pirates. I'm new here, but actually many years ago I was a regular Eurobricks visitor, and it was great to discover this site is still up and well. Lockdown was also helpful in resurrecting an old hobby: making lego stop-motion films. I'm working hard on a pirate series called Being Pirates. Here's the trailer: The first episode is coming soon. If you like the trailer, consider subscribing. Thanks!
