  1. Great work on this! I love the color-scheme, a nice "wooden" look.
  2. I really do love this thread, so much stunning work that looks amazing!
  3. Thanks Evancelt! Yes, especially for landscape I love non-lego terrain, and the combination of lego and non-lego terrain. In many of the old lego catalogs or posters from the 90s they combined lego sets with non-lego terrain, for example for castle or pirates, and I always really enjoyed that. Thanks for the info about the Creative QT baseplate, that's amazing!
  4. Thank you Mister Phes! I've been watching some tutorial videos for terrain making and hope I'll be able to do the painting well. I've built a couple but I'll definately build more. I recently ordered a bunch or parts for trees :-) Thanks :-) It's still a work in progress, I'll add paint, grassy areas and sand.
  5. Ahoy! The stop-motion series Being Pirates will get it's second season As is often the case with projects like this, it's ending up being alot more work than I originally anticipated, so it'll be quite a while before a trailer or the first episode of season 2 is released. I would like to give you a little update or teaser every now and then in this thread. I've mainly been working on creating MOCs as film sets in the last months, as well as fleshing out the script. I've tried to make it funny like the first season, although this time it won't be quite as dialog-heavy and have more action and adventure. One of these settings is a large harbour town in a caribbean style. It's a work in progress and the arrangement of the various buildings might change, and there's still alot of work to be done, but here's a sneek peak: Harbour Town I'm working on making a base for the town as well as for an imperial fortress on a cliff edge. For this I'm trying out terrain building using polystyrene, plaster and paint. Church Let me know what you think!
  6. Looks incredible! A ship Pirates should definitely avoid getting near.
  7. Thank you @Marooned Marin! It's great and motivating to know people are looking forward to more Thanks Feuer Zug! Hipster Pirates That's a great Idea, I think I'll post a new topic with teasers, behind the scenes pictures and work in progress pictures.
  8. Thanks NOD! Thanks! Great question, I hadn't reflected on the process myself, and actually, it's a bit of both. I started off with buying Barracuda Bay and getting my old childhood lego back out from which I built the imperial ship Unsinkable II to go along with Barracuda Bay. Those two inspired me to start the Being Pirates series, I wrote the screenplay for season 1 and then went on to build MOCs for it according to what I needed. For Season 2 I knew I wanted to build a large harbour town (which is yet to be completed, quite a big project), so that setting inspired quite a bit of the screenplay. I then wrote most of the story and am now building more MOCs as the screenplay requires.
  9. Thanks @Jack Sassy! Ha ha, I wonder why . He's going to be a new character in Being Pirates 2, a mysterious character telling fantastical stories. Thanks @Mister Phes! I don't want to get into too much detail yet, but it'll be a new adventure involving old and new characters, a Kraken, a fort and a harbour town and lot's of treasure. I can't help but think I've overdone it a bit with the amount of work that'll be needed till it'll come out but I'm so deep into it I don't want to give up, but don't expect any new episodes soon.
  10. Incredible ship once again @NOD! I love the shaping work, especially towards the back of the ship, giving it that early galleon look! Great work!
  11. Arrrr, pass me the rum, matey! The Captain's Daughter is the Tavern of Barracuda Bay. In the set it is very small and unsuitable for filming, so I reimagined and enlarged the interior as a film set for the upcoming Being Pirates 2. It is still set inside the hull of a wrecked ship, as you can see from the angled sides and the gun ports formerly for canons. As the pirates in Being Pirates are not your typical pirates, it has a bit of a hipster cafe vibe to it. The bar area I took from the Lego set Central Perk, and modified it only slightly. Watch Being Pirates on my youtube channel if you like: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCda2zDIAOyvTXsep8JcXefQ
  12. Great build! Love the shape and design of the whole thing!
  13. Wow, this is phenomenal! Smaller ships are comparatively rare and I love this one! Beautiful shape and color scheme.
  14. I edited all of season 1 together, changed a few things and made it into one short film:
  15. And the season finale is out. Let me know what you think :-)
  16. Wow, great job on this! There is so much to like here! The building design, the colour scheme and colour distribution, all the plants and details. If it came out as a set I'd buy it right away, and I'd say it's good enough to be an official set. Altough it's not a huge build, it just seems complete and full of life.
  17. I love this! I'd like to live there right away! Love the trees and vegetation and all the little details you added like the pig pen.
  18. This is superb! I love how you used tiles for parts of the hull so that it looks like it was built with wooden planks. That is an extra element that I haven't seen included in many custom built hulls and I love it. The shaping is extraordinary throughout the build. Great Work!
  19. Wow, great job on this! That brick built hull looks amazing! I'm wondering how you achieved the wonderful curve at the bow of the ship? The part with mainly 1x2 tiles.
  20. I am so impressed with your photography! The lighting in this shot is absolutely amazing, such an intriguing mood!
  21. She's a beauty! Very well done!
  22. Thanks Professor! Thanks you! I can see how it would also look good with a bigger island.
  23. Wow, I'm very impressed! Very beautiful ship and I'm in love with the interior!
  24. Thanks! Ha ha, rum never runs out at Aye Rock! Thanks! To me it has a kind of baroque style and time wise that would fit into the golden age of piracy. Thanks Jan! Thanks! The next episode will be the season finale to season 1. And then look out for season 2
