Caterpillar 740 Ejector
Darth Dino replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi that is a 99% perfect Dumpster plus a 1% Hampster ;) Dino -
@Nicolas the TGV "La Poste" of the french poszal service is using full yellow trains just for postal cargo. They are that fast with that solution, that airmail is not necessary anymore. There are directions where no planes are used but TGVs. It is the first and only time i heard high speed trains are exlusevly used for cargo! Yellow supertrains: http://www.google.de/search?q=tgv+poste&oe=UTF-8&hl=de&client=safari&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&ei=BexpUNW2OYSL4gTOzoHoDw&biw=768&bih=928&sei=k-1pUJEDi9HhBIyjgbAI Dino

MOC: The Real Ghostbusters Firehouse
Darth Dino replied to Hobbestimus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hi that is the first ever nice usage of the bubbles in the lightsword blades. They make look the beam more dynamic :) I like the traps too! Dino -
Hi this one is a TGV Duplex. The enginge is different and the cars has two floors. But yes, is looks lie an ICE 2 or 3 too ;) Dino

Hi Wow. Beside the 26 Microfigs i found (two in yellow or just one?) i had to say it is impressive with nice color sheme. But a real organ looks less symetric because there are typical no double pipes (there are hugh orchestral organs that have forma single tone more than one pipe, but mostly they are realised in different pipe types, wooden and metallic). Your pipe length are looking to similiar to simulate the different pipetypes. Of cause we do not have different diameters for the pipes, so they "had to differ in the length. If you hav a lot of 2x2 round bricks, maybe you check them as basspipe? Dino

Hi very cool. As someone who do not own any trains and usally even did not plan to start with them this might change everything. The parts are so usefull for e.g. car MOCs, it is a shame not to get them. Lego seems to hear AFOLs crying for uncommon colors: sandgreen HH and now this train in orange.... Dino

Helms Deep for 106 Euros and free shipping in Germany
Darth Dino replied to Wardancer's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Hi thank you! I did not know Thalia even had Lego... I am still not sure now to start or never to start with LOTR. But this offer for one of the most desireable sets... Hmmm :) Dino -
Hi what is the brick issue? Misscoloring? Dino
-
Hi Bah! That Are bad news. Ralph, i always loved your MOCs even i am not a military fan in general. Nevertheless we will miss you unique building style. I see why you did sou feel at home here, there is no "fitting" subforum for your MOCs, unless you count "special themes". I hoe you will not delete your account and probably come back if you what the rest of the AFOL world let knw about your latest MOCs. Dino

Hi here in Germany i got the VIO mail too, that i will get the cottage early when i order it now, but i will get double VIP points if not and order in Oktober... I do not get the sense of this offer, who is that keen on this set not to wait until Oktober? It would be more meaningful if early orders are getting double VIP points... Dino

Review: 10228 Haunted House
Darth Dino replied to mostlytechnic's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Hi what do you mean? Do you dislike sandgreen in general, or are you asking if somebody has miscolored sandgreen parts. If it is the first, i have to tell you sandgreen is the most reason many people buy this set. If it is the later, i found even miscolored parts on the box images! I like it, if parts varey slightly in the colortone. I makes buildings more used looking. Dino -
Hi very nice. This is exactly why i am going to buy the HH: To use it as base for a modular. @TO: What bricks your are missing that a 32 stude wide house is not possible? Do you need more sandgreen? If so, i will also order some sandgreen via bricklink too. Dino

Hi with a photobox as mentioned above you will get even and homogenius illumination. But as dalylight with clouds this illumination is not very interesting. If you need direct spots on the figs, you will also have to scale down your lightsources. For example: The difuse light will come from a white dome around the object. If you cover the object now with a second black smaller dome (cardboard or paper) you can drill three holes in it: One and two for two "lightsources" from the sides (make them 4 and 8 o'clock fromtopview) and the third a bit larger for the camera. Photographer like me call this "gripper illumination" (direct translated from german). It is mostly used for intense and contrastful illumination just from the sides. http://pixxel-blog.de/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/HeikeHerden3.jpg This link goes to a good example for that kind of illumination. The holes for the light should not be bigger than the object of interest e.g minifig head. To get thebest effect on thehead, you will have tomove the fig to find the right crossing point of the two (or more) lightsources. I would expect very long exposure times, because to should be dark except the light comming through the holes. Dino

Hi Ralph, what can i say the other did not say already? Two things: Your B52 is that big, it swooshes you, not you swooshing the model. I did not know there are dark blueish grey wedges. It seems, if there have been some dbg wedges, there are not available anymore. You purchased them all! Realy great mocing. Now i look ashamed to my passenger plane i build for my so that uses a single piece nose... Dino

Hi how is that looking if you add 2x 1x1 or 1x 2x1 plates as platform shes? ;) Its only because i like smaller women more than taler ones (i am 30cm or a foot taler than my wife) :) Maybe in white (on black legs) as gaiters/spats ;) Dino
-
Hi very nice and unique MOC! I like that it is "only" manual driven. People can stop it to see what is happening and why. It is so cool how the square stands pass by so close while rotating whithout touching! Both females are taler than their guys... Do they like small men, or have both high heels? :) Dino

Hi it is always fun to read that in times where many people (i do not say you) have many illegal copied files like music and or movies without feeling bad. I am a photographer and there are many ways to protect your work. Watermarking is just one way to do so, but not the only one. I prefere to make my images unique - lightning, background, style and illumination. If the steal is so obvious, it will protect the images from being stolen. At the end, i had to say in Germany you are able to send the person that used your work a bill for the images. And it is unimportant how much the lot get on ebay - it only important how much your work is worth (for yourself). E.g. a stolen picture in a very small local newspaper can be easily 1000-3000€.... But at first you will have to know where to send your bill - so you have to ask and inform ebay. Dino

Hi same here. I am just going o buy this set to use it as base for a modular. I think many will buy it because they like the modulars - and without beeing the the monsters theme. Maybe we all could start some kind of "alternate building contest of the Haunted House": Designing "modular" MOCs just out of the 10228 parts. :) Dino

8466 worth getting?
Darth Dino replied to RideFire's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi to answer your question fast: yes, the 8466 is worth to get. There are five main reasons to get the set: The tires, the tires, the tires, the tires and the metallic green panels ;) If you care about the look and the design of a MOC, the biggest Lego wheels ever made are a must have. But as allanp already said, they are difficult to handle in working MOCs. If you care more on functional and working MOCs, you better take different tires. Dino -
Hi do not search for stores in London. It is a waste of time, you betterenjoy this great city than looking for something that is hard to find (in volumes). I was there a week and got home without a single fig. I bought 60 of them easily online. Dino
-
Hi if you are asking for the name.. It wings looks very close to the klingon "Bird of Prey" Class ships from Star Trek ;) Dino
-
Hi many thanky to Dervish and Johnlewis, too! While i spent hours in London and even did not get a single fig, i was now able to get 60 for the regular price, 1,99 plus 7,50£ shipping, easily with online shopping... What a waste of time to search for shops with Team GB figs in London. My box was opened too but just for counting. No bag seemed to be touched or sorted. Dino

Hi i really like your building style. Unlike many other huge sets (e.g. the Star Wars Super Star Destroyer) you build massive and in layers. I dislike that hollowbuilding style, where you just have a frame as interior and outside an exoskeleton. You nailed the original design very well! Dino

Tumblers and a Bat!
Darth Dino replied to mahjqa's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi beside the great MOCs as photographer i have to appreciate your great camera machines. This really makes me think of an own small camera that could fit into RC "cars". I also love the idea of the flying batwing "car". Next step could be some programmable Lego Mindstorms to repeat multiple scenes with same mavements: Real motion control filming! Very well photography with very unique "hardware" and ideas. Dino
