  1. Hi i share your thoughts about the existing TIE Interceptors, one is blue, the other one bulky. So i see really improvementin your beautyful MOC. It looks very slim and lean like the real thing. I also like that you do not use licensed parts like the canopy (except the printed tile). Your brick build (hose build ;) ) canopy fits to the lean design to the rest. Very well done. I would love to have one of those on display. Dino
  2. Hi i really think the 10188 Death Staris going to discontinue this year, having from September a truely follower in the Ewok Village set. Both are huge playsets with 20+ minifigs. I heard 10188 although its a 5 year old set is still in production, or at least had many different production runs ovwr the years. So i heard too, some, many, all? figs have new, newer, or the latests heads. Can anyone please confirm that having purchased the Death Star in the last few weeks? Would be nice to see if and if yes how Lego changed their sets. Dino
  3. Hi that is a good discusion comming up. I see that e.g. normal creator or city sets are more made for building experience than role playing. You do not know much about the "excavator driver". Star Wars figures and licensed figures in general add a whole background story for each figure. More complex and deeper roleplaying is possible. Secondly rare and unique and printed parts make each set more valuable, especially for collectors than sets with general bricks. The most unique and most detailed part on a Star Wars set are the figs. One good example: I bought recently a brand new in seal bags 7965 Millenium Falcon, without figs. The MRSP is 149€, 129€ is the average low price in internet stores. I got 98% of this set for 70€, just one bag opened where the figs have been. Funily i will get all figs (charcters) of this set when i buy the Death Star - my next purchase this year :) Dino
  4. Hi First of all, i hate the description "photoshopped". There are many many other programs out and used that can be used to modify images - not only Adobe Photoshop. Second: I am a photographer and many things normal people call "photoshopping" is photography, mostly correct lightning. With correct light settings and the right angle to the objct you can avoid heavy mold-marks. Third: Photo (image) manipulation, mostly pixel per pixel manipulation, this is what PS and other programs do. They modify things that are already present (exept dust removal). They make whits whiter, yellows more shiny, things like that. Again: many of those effect can be done to 90% with lightning, software just perfects the image. Fourth: Rendering. This is generates something new, like bent legs or arms. This is something i personally do not like much. I agree with you Lego should not show things that are not possible or missleading. Regarding mold marks: i am sure you can sort your bricks and find some that domnot have any of those marks. Lego could do that too, but correct lightning and mark removalnvia software is easier. Dino
  5. Hi Rufus, i have to say it is fun to read every of your well written and most entertaining reviews. I think your reviews become reference for effort somebody put into them and how entertaining and easy readablemit is at the end, even it is a small or less intersting set. I also like how you are balqncing your reviews. You really discover a sets strengths and weaknesses - no simple applauding like many other reviewers do. Sometimes i wonder why we have a 1-10 rating per section if a "5" is really bad. Thanks! Dino
  6. Hi i think "money making" can mean different things. Selling of sets you do not like anymore or your are just out of shelf space with a little plus is one thing. That is what i am doing, i am sure sets i buy will not lose their value over time, even i play with them. Thats for sure for most Star Wars and exclusive sets like modulars. Making money to get out real money or even live from that income is a diffrent thing. That means buying lots of bulk sets, store them up to the ideal timepoint AND: Never play with them. I do not do this whil i thing Lego sets should be opend and played with, even i just buy MISB sets. Dino
  7. Hi i suggest to change 1-3 pieces that covering the outsidenof the model to some that have a hinge element on the outside. There you can fix the fishing line. You do not have to take care about scratches in the element, its only there to provide porper hanging. If you or someone else want to play with, just change the part(s) again to the originals. Benefit: You will not see that parts are vhanged because they are localised on the top side of the model that can not be seen from the bottom. Dino
  8. Hi firstly, we have to be care since now about GRogall and what he is telling us. From this point now he could lie and predict sets that never been happen we would believe it right from the scatch. Once again he have been a very good source for news. About this set: It cool, well designed, with lots of playablity. I think it will replace the DS. I donot worry muc about the price, those 17 figures are worth 50-70% of the whole set. That makes a brown and tan eldorado for just 100€£$. I would say: Buying that set a least means just to rent it. No way this set will be cheaper on the resale market after it discontinued. So why waiting? It's still not September! :( Dino
  9. Hi well, to combine Legos "play" intention and your "investment" intention i found for myself this way: Purchase exclusive sets instead of normal ones if possible. For exaple i have the modular Fire-Department instead of the System one, i have the Maersk train instead if the normal cargo train. Both are fun to play with but also an investment into the future. You can sell them even not MISB very well in the future, for sure without loss. Even if you are not into trains, the Maersk train will be a great source for anybody of rare Maersk blue. I do not "invest" in sets that are 100% useless for me if i will not be able to sell them. So no LOTR or Friends for me even they will probably sell great in the future. I only buy things i like today. Dino
  10. Hi your folder is not punlic yet. Welcome to EB. Dino
  11. Hi thank you very much for the links, they are very helpful. I think i will go for the Vader with white pupils, a detail that i did not know to care about. This little detail will make him fit as best to my existing figs. (and its yet another reason to save up for the MF) :) Dino
  12. Hi i do not own a set with Darth Vader but i have a huge desire for this fig. Most figs i own are OT and new, at least fleshies. Which Vader fig from which set do you prefer? Its a fig to play with, not a display or MISB fig like the chrome black Vader. If you suberb Mods know setnumbers i would be happy if someone edit my post and ads a poll. I do not know any of the figs and if and how they differ. I would like to have a "good head", fitting to the OT style of actual sets. Would be nice if some of you die hard fig collectors that have any Vader produced make a picture and post this here. Thanks Dino
  13. Hi nice one: A polish guy posting in the Technic forum = really phat stuff :) I do not know why but most impressive technic builds i like are from polish MOCers. May most of the are huge plus detailed. Dino
  14. Hi OOOOUUH :) Thanks for trying my sugguestion! Indeed he looks angrier now. It is also very hard to get him because he had very small eyes in the movies. Maybe this is a TCWish version kf Darth Maul :) I also like that his temples have now a slightly angle. Dino
  15. Hi i do not own a MF yet, but i want to. I know 3 System-Scale/Size (i do not want to have a "there is no scale" discussion please) Millenium Falcons so far. One with those 90 degree round hugh UFO parts and two where the disk section is made in many segments those can flip to open. I do not like both ways, both gave me a feeling the MF is a thick ship, but its a flat one. In the UCS version there seems the disk secion much flatter and better fitting to the mandibles. Are there any MOCs that are System Scale but designed like the UCS version? I did not fould any. Dino
  16. Hi just like you i am new in buying Star Wars sets. As many othersnat my age (born '76) i am mostl into OT, then PT. I recentöy started watching TCW to give them a try (do not reget this at the moment). I started with X, Tie and A. Also EP1 Darth Mauls Inceptor, becuase i really like him. Got a 9500 for parts (99€ MRSP, discounted down to 38€, a steal). Now i have too a Lukes Landspeeder and the lecond last Slave 1 6209 which i like more because of the many sandgreen parts. I got this for 75€ MISB on eBay. I think you can START with Lego SW but not JUST spending 100-120 bucks on that theme. If you have them once you want them all. So my next thing will be the Y-Wing. Around Xmas i will go for a MF ;) Dino
  17. Hi any re-release is an evidence of lack of creativity. It is just like that. A new X-Wing HAVE to look like that because there is the studio model. But no modular has to have an original to follow. Lego is one of the most creative companies - they sell ideas for creativity. So i do not expect any real re-release. Dino
  18. Hi i like sou building style. It is great to avoid the exclusive and expensive licensed parts, e.g. the canopies. Both fit well to each other, regarding style, build technic and size. Dino
  19. Hi i agree with you - although parting them out us my intention. i am not into trains or city, mstly SW and technic. If i would jump on that theme, i would do it the right way: Many trains, nany tracks and many train releated ciry buildings. Having just one train or just a few tracks is a bit sad. Dino
  20. Hi i found a toy store still having two 10219 for 119€ each, german MRSP. I am not into trains but realise those sets are a great source for Maersk blue. I am wondering buying one of those as investment (resale) and one for parts. I am asking you train guys what do you think? I my unexperienced eyes this is a prtty nice set, close to the Santa Fe but with more unsuable parts. Is it both a set for parts and a set that works on the resale side? Dino
  21. Hi transparent sticker backgrounds are more sensitive to UV light. They get faster brownish and also have the tendency to get stiff and get breaks/ruptures. Dino
  22. Hi @JVD: I did not know that the MRSP was that high, 90€ or something. I guessed is was in the öine ith Y-Wing and X-Wing, 50-70€. I also have an eye now on the 6209 which looks good with a lot of sandgreen. Dino
  23. Hi Packing: Get cardbord boxes that are dedicated for moving. Tape your drawers, tape them together and then put into a cardbord box. Value: That is simple: Take the value that will not make you cry if everything is lost. Lets say the worth is 5k€ then take 4k€. For that you could rebuy most of it excluding the things you do not really need. On the other hand: The more you do not cry kn case of lost, the more will you cry for the insurance cost ;) Dino
  24. Hi hmm it seems i will have to wait. It is not detailed enough for me to spent MRSP twice. Its iconic yes, but no UCS. So Brickadeer analysed mm situation right ;) May i ask what is the different between Boba and jamgos S1? Its the same ship. Is the color sheme different? Dino
  25. Hi i know most of Anios MOCs - but i do not have the parts, not a single one (maybe some grey plates) :) I also do not want to know how much th parts are, i quess more than 100€, significant more. E.g. the canopy is the one used in the 8097?! Does anybody know the time where X-Wing and Slave 1 are produced, discontinued and rereleased? So like 3 years in production, 2 years absence, than again. Dino
