  1. Hogsmeade as a set boils down to being a couple of shops with a wintery theme. The scene in question isn't scary, and probably won't come to mind to casual fans. They'll probably remember how picturesque Hogsmeade is and associate that feeling with the set. Yeah I'll give you the Chamber of Secrets. I'm just saying on the whole, the theme has been shying away from darker sections of the story. I just think the evidence is there that Lego have a demographic in mind and they're sticking to it.
  2. All I can think of is that they want to hit a slightly younger demographic with their HP sets. Thinking on last year with no references at hand, pretty much all I remember is sets with younger students, all based around the magic of the castle, the various lessons etc. Perhaps this is the direction they want to keep Harry Potter going in, for the most part. I think the last truly dark set we got was the rise of voldemort and that was a while ago. The villains rarely show up in sets. It is frustrating that they'll go darker with their other themes, but it's clearly what they're trying to achieve :( I don't hold much hope for this year being any different.
  3. As you're talking about completionism, I hope you know that there is a Hermione keychain! :)
  4. The Moments sets have lots of nice prints and things. Tbh I know I'm going to crack and end up with both of those when they release. Moody's coat looks so much better in that darker orange, pops out from his hair a bit more. Would have appreciated a scared/crying Trelawney face or a different hairpiece (CMF Ginny recoloured perhaps) but it's great for those who weren't around for the CMF in 2018! Least we got a new print for the body. Speaking of the CMF, a local WHSmith had the Series 1 CMF in a huge bargain bin at £1.50 each the other day. Almost bought a bunch but resisted! The Clock Tower set I can take or leave, tbh thinking this may be a set where I pick up the minifigs and exclusive prints. Not a fan of the new modular style. Madam Pomfrey is the highlight
  5. I sort of agree, but there's some obvious minifigs they haven't made yet ie Order of the Phoenix Tonks and Sirius, Rita Skeeter etc.. but these are all set sellers in their own right so I can understand why a CMF may not happen. Like @Flixter said you could literally make a FB CMF all on its own just from Crimes of Grindelwald never mind SoD. Newt, Jacob, Queenie, Tina, Credence, Grindelwald, Dumbledore, Nagini, Yusuf, Flamel, Theseus and Leta. Just can't see this one happening tbh as much as it could knock out every minifigure needed from that film series with one CMF. I liked it. Loved the Platform 9 3/4 signage, the birthday cake and the story it told. Sounds silly but the shapes on the game board left me guessing, wondering what could be coming next! I thought some of the builds were really boring i.e. the station trolley, the first half of the vault, but you can't win them all with the AC's, and it still beats building yet another arbitrary christmas tree. Pretty sure I'm getting the Chamber of Secrets from Santa tomorrow Would have enjoyed having the Clock Tower to include too tbh as I don't see this Hogwarts system being a build I keep up for very long.
  6. Come to think of it @krimimimi, in 3 advent calendars, they have covered PS twice and GoF once. Wonder how they would cover the other films. Prisoner of Azkaban is an obvious one, centre it around Hogsmeade and the snowball fight with Dracos gang. Yule Ball is covered off unless they want to make a Neville and Ginny. Order of the Phoenix like you said - Grimmauld Place. Centred around Harry, Sirius and the Weasleys? Half Blood Prince is well covered too thanks to the Astronomy set and the CMF throwing us Ginny. Deathly Hallows - why bother mentioning it. This years theme was from a scene set in September though, so who knows what they will cook up next year. They might even give up on a narrative for next year and just chuck random festive builds at us. Hope not!
  7. He's got a good track record. Obviously there's always going to be room for error but I wouldn't get your hopes up that this list is false. It will most likely be a good indicator of what we actually get.
  8. For those in the UK, I suggest pre-ordering now. Amazon won't take the money until release day and if the price goes down at all it's protected by pre-order price guarantee. Managed to get £60 quid off a boxset of manga this way, insane. They may do similar schemes in other territories.
  9. Expecting at least two more modular add-ons, a couple of weird 'Adult' sets like the Hogwarts Icons, maybe 1 or 2 classic sets i.e. Shrieking Shack, maybe a remake ie Hogwarts Express and a buildable creature perhaps the Niffler to take advantage of FB3. That big set though... god only knows. Can I take a scale diorama of Hogwarts + Grounds please? (I know, it won't happen).
  10. Is there an RRP? According to Brick Fanatics the new book is 80 pages. The Tom Riddle exclusive book is 96 pages and is currently going for £15 new on Amazon, I paid £13.99 when it came out. Expensive? Yeah, if you're not interested in the book. But to be honest I'd rather a new minifig than a repeat any day. And some of the 2021 sets have been so subjectively rubbish that I feel like I'm paying a premium just for new minifigs anyway. Will be picking this up asap, excited for the Prefect robe. This will be a case of keeping the book on my wishlist and waiting for the price to go down to get multiples, so I can have a Prefect Ron and Hermione as well. Not a big fan of the headpiece for Percy unless it's double-sided, but thankfully I have several stern ginger faces for my custom Percys. The hair may look better in person, I prefer him with the hair from the LEGO video games, not as movie accurate but feels more 'Percy'.
  11. Yeah I know, just theoretical wishful thinking sadly. I have no doubt we're stuck with what we have for now lol.
  12. I hope if they do do a Series 3, they really aim for some of the obscure characters (Bill, Rita, Narcissa, Kreacher) that we're not going to get unless they change their plans for the forthcoming waves. Personally I'm checking out of the entire sets too this year - going to be a BL heavy 2022 for me too. My love is with the minifigs and new prints etc. So I may pick up the Divination and DADA books for the stickers, but the other sets will be a BrickLink for me. The only thing that could bring me back around is a Gryffindor Common Room that's more in the style of the sitcom sets, or a return to the older style with focus on OoTP+
  13. My christmas "bonus" from work is an Amazon gift voucher lol, 6 more Cedric's are coming my way! I feel that if they do release more Quidditch minifigs they might change the torso anyway so I'm just gonna go for a complete set of 28 based on the players from the Quidditch World Cup game! (One of the better HP Video Games if you ask me)
  14. Finally got the Fawkes build for my birthday. Made the same mistake I did with Hedwig and the wings don't flap! Whoops.
  15. There should be a second wave of sets in the later part of the year. Nobody knows anything about it though.
  16. Yeah, or even do HBP with Draco, Harry and Luna. Could even maaaaybe stretch the set to include the gates of Hogwarts and Filch's guard duty.
  17. Thanks for the heads up on the Mundungus head @Bugbot20082. Just picked that up - so much cheaper than on BrickLink where it seems that you have to buy the whole figure. Also picked up the Honeydukes torso. I was looking at Harry from Home Alone's torso as a base for Mundungus Fletcher too. But again too expensive on BL and doesn't appear on B&P just yet.
  18. This from LEGO' s Facebook page: London with the special treatment again Wonder what it is. Probably a minifigure, polybag or a buildable Snitch. For the record I think this is the third exclusive freebie London has got recently. Visitors to the Cursed Child got a Yule Ball Harry minifig on their seat I think for a couple of shows, the other week the "find the Ford Anglia challenge" had the car literally located in London and now this. It's all just fluffy stuff that I don't need but it's still somewhat annoying to get your hopes up each time you see a new post
  19. For those in the UK, Argos has a 20% sale on LEGO Harry Potter. Limited stock of Knight Bus and Hagrids Hut left, probably depends on location too. Quite a few other older sets on there too. Regarding the new release date of the sets, not letting it affect me because next year I won't be buying anything until/if the GWP drops. Not making the same mistake as I did this year
  20. Fingers crossed!! Just got round to building the Chess set. Harry and Hermione in their jumpers are gosh darn adorable, love them. Harry in particular is one of my fav minifigures from this year. From Fluffys encounter, the GWP and now this, I have 8 of the 16 chocolate frog cards and 1 double of Flamel, not bad but expecting my luck to change when I get the remainder of the sets from this year. The chess pieces are great how they capture the look of the pieces from the films. The queen grasping the sword is my fav. It's a nice set and looks better in person, however a few gripes. Wish the base was slightly larger and heavier, personal preference though. The pieces slip around a bit too, but having jumper plates would probably mess up the smooth aesthetic of the chess board. I really wish each tile was maybe a stud or two larger each way, I was inadvertently knocking over other pieces when leaning over the board. But then the board would be really big. So yeah, "gripes" but I can see why they were designed the way they were. Really minor gripes though. Makes a good display piece and I've learned how to play chess! Result!
  21. I just bought her CMF head on BrickLink and added it to the Burrow Bellatrix. I also managed to pick up the 2010 skirt piece by itself, for some reason someone was selling it seperate for marginally less! Quidditch activity book with Cedric Diggory is officially out in the UK, Amazon just dropped off my order. It's... Cedric on the Hufflepuff quidditch body! Nothing new here, really. The book itself is fine, lots of random Hogwarts Quidditch players made up of various heads and hairpieces. Ron has a page about him with Lavender cheering him on, his design is from the 2018 Quidditch set so it's not been updated or anything like that. Ginny shows up with the same design too. Cheap way to pick up Hufflepuff quidditch torsos, I've got the book on my Amazon and will wait for it to inevitably sink in price and pick up another six to flesh out my team.
  22. Yeah if I was on the hunt physically, I hope it's a better experience! I only imagine the Golden Snitch stuff is a repeat of the promo that's been doing the rounds where you can go and build the Snitch in-store. I don't understand why LEGO wouldn't align their promos to when their sets release, and even with the other promos? Like, it would have been really fun to do this hunt, go in store and redeem your code for the pieces of the Golden Snitch to build, pick up the Hermione polybag, buy the new sets that just released and grab your Gryffindor Dorm GWP. I suppose some lucky people are getting to do all this today and having a great time, and it's genuinely fun for them and that makes me happy! But a large segment of people will have bought the sets when they released, and loads more would have gone to get the GWP in the first few days it released. Not to mention only people in London are actually going to get the full benefit of this thing by being able to go and see the Anglia. Guess they're trying to ride the wave a little longer before Christmas
  23. I tapped it and it said "You've found the LEGO Ford Anglia car! Why not go see it in real life? Here is the address that it can be found at: The National Maritime Museum Gardens, London, SE10 9NF" Then a button to enter the competition to win tickets. Then something else about building a Golden Snitch in store but I tapped before it loaded and the whole thing restarted. Then I found the FAQ that lets you enter the competiton seemingly an unlimited amount of times. And then I got the same message that you got about claiming your reward. Nice one LEGO! Cba clearing my cache to do the whole thing again. Imagine going out for the day in Edinburgh and Cardiff to find out the actual car is in London. I'd be pretty annoyed, kind of glad they just left my county out of it low-effort crap For those not doing the comp, you get the chance to unlock 'exclusive content' and win tickets to the Studio Tour, the Harry Potter Photographic Exhibition and a bundle of LEGO Harry Potter prizes. The at home experience is AR based (think Pokemon Go). Spell trails zoomed around my bedroom and I had to answer basic questions about Harry Potter. Then the whole thing glitched at the end. Don't think anyone playtested this.
  24. The Magical Mystery Hunt starts tomorrow in the UK. Annoyingly I am going to be in a city with a LEGO Store, but not one of the three that LEGO are doing the promotion in. Fantastic
  25. I think waiting to buy sets is the way forward tbh. I got the Chamber of Secrets stupidly cheap earlier in the year, something like £40 off if I remember it rightly. And the smaller sets always seem to plummet in price around Christmas time. There seems to be a sweet spot where a set will discount before becoming hard to find, going to try and keep this in mind next year. Not to mention the GWP that may inevitably hit. Had to scramble this year! We know we're getting Clock Tower which first showed up in Prisoner of Azkaban. I'm hoping for a Shrieking Shack or some more Triwizard stuff personally. I was thinking maybe the Dana Barrett/Madam Rosmerta hairpiece but it's not fully accurate tbh. I think the faceprint is just as important. Really, Hermione has golden brown hair in the films, really noticeable in that scene. Perhaps a new colour somewhere in between Dark Tan and Reddish Brown would suit.
