  1. You're right and very few actual LEGO parts do not have any markings But these mould numbers are simply too subtle for most LEGO buyers AND sellers, hence the very danger of non-LEGO Technic parts entering Bricklink This is true HOWEVER.. LEGO bricks are made with a (maximum during production) 0,001mm precision and that means if you make a thousand towers with each a thousand 2x2 bricks SOME are bound to be one millimeter higher or lower than some of the other towers So nothing like in that picture
  2. That is not a very nice response I merely pointed out that swearing has been around on EB as long as the forum has existed. And that it in many cases do not get deleted/reprimanded etc. Hence the google links And that maybe swearing may not be as bad as some suggest as well Where I get my kicks is none of your megablock business, but I can assure you it's not on EB How you twist your own knickers are none of my business either
  3. Do you think it's a different kind of plastic? I'm sure TLG got a lot of flack for those new formula trans parts Feels different, sounds different, clutch etc?
  4. However, many studies have shown that swearing is good - and healthy A nice summery here : https://www.healthline.com/health-news/dont-watch-your-mouth-swearing-can-actually-be-good-for-your-health Also, naughty words have been around EB since the beginning (and even comming from some of the founders) Just type this into google : site:eurobricks.com BAD WORD Replace BAD WORD with you know what, like fvck and sh1t, properly spelled Sure kids are looking at this site (and posting, sigh), but if they get offended (trust me they don't - their parents might), the right question is NOT to ban naughty words but to ask those parents to, you know parent, and keep their kids of EB Cheers, Ole
  5. Like I said, lack of charm
  6. Those stickers are bleedin' awfull! Third party mfgs can make something much better, not acceptable TLG! In the future I expect these Creator cars to be made with tiled bodies like this one, but unfortunally it just highlights the fact that tiles are a tiny bit smaller and have rounded edges which do not create a cohesive look that bricks do (or plates, but no-one wants a set like this with studs all over!) Better than the orginal? Not sure, the first one had more charm imho, but a terrible front with those hoses and thick A-beams + terrible front windshield It would be nice if the review had some pictures of the actual real vehicle as well
  7. Hmm, there is some doubt that the article and pictures themselves are fake (read the comment section) : http://www.brickfinder.net/2020/08/30/fake-lego-imprinted-bricks-found-china/ Brickfinder has a couple of other interesting articles : http://www.brickfinder.net/2019/05/12/toy-store-found-using-lego-stickers-brick-sets/ http://www.brickfinder.net/2017/01/25/spot-fake-minifigure-just-looking/
  8. The irony is that TLG is currently selling clone parts through Bricklink Edit : Here are some recent discussions on Bricklink about fake part : https://www.bricklink.com/messageList.asp?v=c&max=100&q=fake
  9. Not only do those parts often not have any LEGO markings, several clone companies produce them (often as good as TLG and sometimes with better colour consistency) AND those clone parts seem to be embraced by quite a lot of Technic builders Interesting ... Thank you
  10. The black 3749 really is an oddball. Only used in two space sets from the mid 80's and while they do look good on 6950 they're pointless on the 6871 And other places where they could be used like the four Futuron sets (uses light grey in all black/white/trans-blue vehilces) or modern trains (uses very ugly tan pins) they're not used in black Luckily I scored loads of them years ago
  11. That's simply too pessimistic. A reputable seller (+1000 positive feedbacks) would get booted of BL rather quickly, especially since TLG owns BL now While there a number of parts that do not have "LEGO" on the studs (mostly because the parts do not have studs), I would not worry The proper sellers (and to some degree, the proper buyers) on BL are some of the MOST hardcore LEGO users on this planet. And have been for two decades. Fake LEGO (mostly fake prints) get shut down pretty quickly If the shop/sale/part seems to be good to be true, it's just that. Use your common sense While you can buy directly from TLG, there's a major ton of parts they do not have and never will. You simply have to buy from BL or much worse, secondhand sales sources like eBay, carboot sales etc I'd like a link to that article, please Nothing in life is 100%, not even death. Don't sweat it However, there IS a rather large elephant in the room and that is studless Technic Cheers, Ole
  12. Buses here either have a steerable backaxle or are articulated
  13. Jeebus, how do you even drive (and turn!) that last one on normal roads? Thanx weavil for the vids, will check 'em out during the weekend. If you got any more, please post the links Cheers, Ole
  14. Technic always had specialty parts, heck the entire theme is "specialty LEGO parts". That first part is actually not single use, it's been used for quite a number of other things (motorcycles and in some on the Universal sets) Back when I build studless Technic that other part was often used for steering and it always bugged me to see that unused pin at the bottom. I wondered if TLG one day would make a part with just the two pins above the pinhole and an axle hole at the other end. There was a part much like that but could only be fitted into another special part
  15. Sure, and we are probably going to see every liftarm produced with alternating holes (if the geometry allows). It's just a natural progression of this whole idea But first, these parts are going to turn up in odd colours and weird sets so we have something to complain about
  16. Odd survey ... I'd asked a bunch of other questions, imho
  17. No point in replacing common liftarms if the alternating holes are not used. Also, they're bound to be more costly to produce simply because they're new and in so few sets But that might change, afterall liftarms are cheaper to make than proper bricks
  18. It's very hard to see. Could also be BASIC heads : https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?M=4224c02&name=Basic Figure Finger Puppet Male (bfp002)&category=[Basic]#T=S&O={"ss":"DK","iconly":0} Those castle walls are also very interesting! Standard 4444 pattern but they're 8W with a rim and about 10-11 bricks tall. Could be a proto, TLG have made tons af proto parts that never came in sets (just look at the Prohibition set) Cheers, Ole Edit : I see a ton of proto pics in Mariann's Flickr stream (she's a member here but hasn't been active in a long time), so yes, it's from that presentation. I've send her a message .. Also, all the proto pics have been posted here (some of them in much better quality) and discussed in length, but that one must have slipped through the cracks I don't see any other proto pics I haven't seen before 'cept the mountain with lava flowing ...
  19. Cool! Is that from the Jamie Berard presentation where a lot of prototype stuff was reveiled?
  20. I know it's a private company, and i know the difference between a a private and a public company, but none of you answered my question "run like a public company" What exactly does that entail?
  21. There's no technical reason for TLG not to make ANY set/part going all the way back to wooden toys, 'cept you know it wouldn't make any sense to TLG
  22. I too, once got as high as that
  23. What do mean by that? What is a "public run company"? TLG is owned by the heirs of the original founder through a network of companies
  24. But the cylinder have studs, the orientation machine should be able to grap that. Dome heads don't. But neither do torsos and they do those just fine Yeah, it's more about volume than precision ...
