I think to a good extent, Lego is trying to ride on the wave of Rings of Power, or at least how much it references the LOTR/ Hobbit movies. I can't imagine Lego missing out on the opportunity as ROP continues with its other seasons.

Bought from the US web site. Ordered a day prior to it going on 'backorder.' It has been two or three days for me and it is also not dispatched. I just received an email from Lego stating that my order is confirmed and cannot be canceled anymore. It mentions that they are dealing a large number of orders. I wonder how much of these are actual Rivendell sets or other sets that went online March 1.

That "backorder" but still order-able seems to happen pretty frequently on most items (except the tragic UCS Hulkbuster and the table football LOL), but the next step would be for it to be "temporarily unavailable." Meaning it really sold out with a pending return date. I do agree that the price point is hampering quicker sales, but this one is just so well-made that I really think it is worth it! I do not mind Lego making another masterpiece of the same price. Of course, I would not mind, and actually would want, smaller items too!

I think that Snow White cottage will happen when the movie releases, or at least close to when it does. If that Maleficent dragon diorama does not happen this year, what might be the reason to release it next year and not this year? Perhaps as a complement to a Sleeping Beauty castle set? Really rooting for that castle!

Did you mean taking out the whole council, to reveal the "eye" hidden underneath, then placing the whole council in front and outside of the whole build??? Which brand bookcase is this? I am building a Lego room so I would like to know... Is it the Swedish low-cost ones? Or were you referring to the expensive fancy plastic/ LED ones made in Singapore? I'd like to protect it from dust, so I will likely encase it in a clear 'box' made by a Lego-associate company from Europe. So I will need a pretty deep cabinet.

Apart from the "Philip fighting the (Maleficent) Dragon", they could possibly do an "Aurora sleeping, and being tucked in by the fairies." She could feature inside the castle while Mickey and friends wave from the outside. LOL. For Briar Rose, they would have to have here "dancing with her animal friends". Hmmm... On the CMF, they glittered her pink dress I guess to differentiate her from Princess Peach! LOL I know there are versions of Aurora with those sparkles but it does not seem to be the most common one. She gets weirder and weirder the more I look at it. (I'm probably still gonna get her though for the same of completing the lineup for my display.) By the way, which Princesses, especially those made into minidolls, are still unaccounted for as minifigs? Snow White - she has to be featured in a rumored Snow White Cottage Rapunzel - ??? Cinderella - ??? Belle/ Beauty - will she be featured with Beast??? Merida - at least she made it as a Bricheadz. LOL Those are still pretty big gaps... anyone else missing?

I would typically buy complete sets from this particular eBay seller, and he used to give me discounts for being a repeat customer, and for the occasional multiple set order. But now, he said no more discounts! I think he is smelling the demand for this. His excuse is that he has to hire staff to feel the blind bags, because he ordered 100+ cases. Sigh. I will have to scout around for another seller. Some minifigure display frame sellers out there also sell CMF sets. Might try them.

Going to buy this on day 1...but I am still quite worried that I don't have any furniture at home to set it on! LOL I measured my bookcase, shelves and console tables and it seems 14-16 inches is thereabouts of standard depth. The only furniture I have that could accommodate this is my buffet!!! LOL But if I decide to encase it in a WickedBrick case, it probably would overhang! Perhaps the best way is to detach that garden/ gazebo section. That way the great hall/ fellowship section can easily fit on top of a standard console table or shelf. I decked my Lego room with mostly IKEA furniture. (I am kind of curious where Lego got the furnitures/ consoles featured on their publicity photos).

Yes, Briar Rose goes with that owl, and Blue-dress Aurora goes well with either Prince Philip or featured as the sleeping version. This CMF therefore looks like a mishmash! LOL But I think ultimately they may have based it on promotional materials where she is shown with Maleficent. I am hoping we eventually get the blue dress version with the Prince or with the three fairies... The designer of this CMF may have confused Sleeping Beauty with Princess Peach! LOL But anyway, Disney will have to make several Sleeping Beauty sets to correct this...

Weakest of the lot is Baymax. Really looks emaciated. Something is not right with Cruella - the overcoat is not quite right. Great headpiece though. Stitch is nice but I still maintain he is a waste of a slot here. They could have just given that slot to Lilo, or to a character from Fantasia like the Hippo ballerina.

When are the birthday train and Up house supposed to come out? May as well? Or June?

Just thinking about it, when the CMF goes on sale, it will be pretty close to the whole SW "May the 4th..." It would be interesting how the Lego web site copes up with that. Lego and Disney are probably both keeping the lid tight on further leaks after that survey photo leaked a few weeks ago. LOL

Two years ago, I set about collecting all those LOTR lego sets that I missed out on. Very painful on my wallet. I never got around to opening and building them though because I quit my job and was moving places for the past two years. Finally, I am getting settled, and looking forward to getting this Rivendell set! However, just realizing how much those unopened sets may now be worth, makes me have so much second thought at actually opening and building them! LOL

Now, are we getting this as part of the Disney 100? LOL Fantastic job! This is truly amazing work!

I’m hoping that if this D2C is indeed a building or vehicle, that it is comic-based. That’s the only way I will buy it.

Oh right, there were actually 3x Marvel d2c’s last year but the two were garbage! That’s why I didn’t remember. Lol Hope Lego learned it’s lesson.

Semi-off-topic... Did Lego roll out this many expensive D2Cs last year? We're now having LOTR, DC, Marvel, SW... It's going to be an expensive year for me - definitely getting the LOTR and DC. I am yet to purchase the modular.

Because I have always wanted a complete set, I have almost always pre-ordered mine from an online retailer.

I would really really like to hear a review from a true Tolkien fan, if not a Tolkien-/ LOTR- scholar about their opinion regarding this Lego set. As much as I am a LOTR fan, I am not really a scholar. Just like you, I can never seem to be influenced by these YouTubers and influencers - I usually have pre-formed opinions of my own and would usually watch or read some of these reviews to verify certain details. I noticed that as much as these are reviews, if I get a penny every time they said they "liked" something in these sets, or that Lego "did a good job" I would be a millionaire by now. LOL

What vehicles have we not gotten so frequently before? Batcopter? Batboat?

Lego has to realize that an expensive set can only be justified by: 1) good build 2) concept (something people have been wanting for so long) and 3) minifig quantity and quality.

Villains? I want the Suicide Squad! Lol I am hoping this is not only a cave build, but would allow for a modular building to be placed on top.
