  1. Eh, that's not how I read it. Otherwise Supergirl, Man-Bat, Mad Hatter, Zatanna, Swamp Thing, and Ocean Master wouldn't be important enough to be in the main game. There are always a few characters who are exclusive to the DLC as a selling point, or because they would otherwise be too repetitious to include twice. Personally I don't think Savage is very obscure (not on the same level as any of the other Arrowverse DLC villains). I'd probably put him on the same level as Cheetah or Solomon Grundy, his design is just less eye-catching since he's normally a bearded guy in a suit. But I suppose what characters are "obscure" has a lot to do with what media one has been exposed to.
  2. Not straight from the horse's mouth, but like I said, word on the street. We do know Hulk is coming in November. Are we really so jazzed for information that we are going to jump on people for using a number they pulled out of the sky or get a little overzealous in their speculation? Use the report button or PM a mod if you think it's that big of an issue.
  3. Word on the street is (I think) that a Marvel wave is going to release in October, including the Hulk Helicopter. That might be why the Marvel stuff is more finalized.
  4. And back in 2014 (?) they decided that Batman couldn't catch the Riddler without Flash, and a couple years later that Blue Beetle was a good match for Killer Moth. This isn't anything new. Who knows why they didn't make sets for Shazam. One of the DCEU's mistakes is relying on the status of its characters as pop culture icons, which Shazam hasn't been since the forties. Aquaman was probably a riskier choice than Shazam all things considered, but that movie's budget was much larger. It probably has more to do with how WB wants to promote their properties: they are merchandising partners. Who knows what actually goes on in those meetings. Yes, their strategy for this year was a heavy focus on Batman (and I suggested that has a lot to do with special anniversaries he is celebrating and TLM2), but this license also just released its first video game which used general DC branding rather than Batman. Sure, Joker and Harley were front and center, but Lex Luthor, the New Gods, Gorilla Grodd, Black Adam, Livewire, Sinestro, and Flash's villains all featured pretty prominently too. Obviously there is a trend that says Marvel gets the movie sets and DC gets comic sets, but it's just that: a trend, not a rule. There were comic-based Marvel sets this year, and the last time we got comicbook Avengers sets was in 2017, the last year when an Avengers movie wasn't in theaters. LEGO didn't cancel the Aquaman set when the Justice League sets flopped (apparently, but nobody actually knows for certain how well any of them did, or if they were actually overproduced), but instead released it the same way they released the Wonder Woman set and went further to make a loose tie-in with Ocean Master (and yes, Batman, but like with the JL Black Manta set which also included Batman and Robin the thrust of the conflict was on Aquaman). They aren't beyond cancelling DC sets on a fairly short notice. DCSHG was supposed to get a few more sets last year but those got cut. Either way, though I did speculate about more comicbook Avengers sets, my point in bringing up Marvel really didn't have anything to do with the source material, just that the Marvel line has already indicated that the new box designs have more to do with the franchise featured than the direction of the line: that has stayed the same. I'm just going to leave this here. It's really not worth arguing about until we see one way or the other.
  5. People have pretty much been doomsaying the DC theme since the beginning. Maybe y'all'll be right this time, but I'm not convinced. It's really only been one wave (two winter sets hardly counts for much), and I think that the Bat-centricity has more to do with the character's 80th anniversary or the prominence of Will Arnett's Batman in the LEGO movies than the fear of other DC characters. Marvel switched to the Spider-Man branding, but then introduced a similar-ish branding for the Endgame and Captain Marvel sets. I don't see why the Batman branding would indicate that DC is locked out of doing something similar. Sure, I guess that only the winter Spider-Man sets were comics based while the rest were movies, but there are rumors of comic Avengers sets coming along with the Hulk set, and given the way Endgame concluded Iron Man and Captain America's stories, I wouldn't be surprised at all if LEGO begins producing comic Avengers sets. I guess that's speculation about the future of the Marvel line, but I don't think it is any crazier than the Batman-forever doomsaying. But I guess time will tell.
  6. (I really hope we see a Superman or JL set at comic-con so that this speculation that we are only ever going to get Batman sets from here on could be put to an end.)
  7. Isn't it supposed to be R-rated anyway? I'd really love it if they could sneak Huntress into a Batman set though....
  8. Per tradition, we should be seeing a 2020 DC set revealed very soon though! Edit: Does anyone remember what the reveal for the 2018 wave was at SDCC 2017? Was it Mighty Micros that year? I don't remember any of the Justice League sets being revealed. Edit 2: Ah, looks like it was all three of the winter JL sets. I doubt we'll be that lucky again.
  9. So when people talk about CMF parts not being able to be reused, aren't there plenty of exceptions? Like the S1 skater and cheerleader in the Brick calendar from 2011, Homer and Krusty in Dimensions (plus I think Bart and Marge in the Kwik-E-Mart), or Donald Duck in the Disney Castle? The LEGO Movie CMF series have also had plenty of prints which maybe weren't "reused" but were released in normal sets alongside the CMF series (looking especially at TLNM). Brickset even records the S8 Santa being reused for several years (including three City advent calendars) after he was released as a blind bag.
  10. Huh. Okay. I definitely still see more of this costume, but maybe she isn't wearing her full armor in the poster.
  11. Interesting. Definitely drawing from the Post-Convergence look, which I never liked at all. Can't say that I like this much either, but we'll see how it works in the movie. I am glad that they don't feel too beholden to Wondy's more traditional costumes though; it took a very long time before DC let her lose the star-spangled undies. Really I think it just looks wrong without her tiara....
  12. That piece is a meme :P
  13. Doesn't the calendar Hermione have a torso from the CMF series?
  14. Well, this removes any pressure I felt to get the Batwing. :P I was planning on Bricklinking Shazam anyway--I hope this is wide-release, maybe a GWP for when the D2C is released. It would be a pretty odd one given that this figure comes in a set, but hey, whatever....
  15. I'm kind of mixed on these... Batcycle Battle is sort of neat. The vehicle might turn out decent once reviews come out and Mr. Freeze's sledge gets the job done. I'm not a big fan of this version of Mr. Freeze at all though, and the bubble helmet really looks wrong to me. I'll stick with the custom one I've got using parts from TLBM and the old Juniors set. The Batmobile looks like a good build! It might be a little longer than I'd like, but I'd consider picking this one up. The Joker figure is kind of meh though. I'm not one to clamor for leg printing but I feel like he needs something going on with his legs to balance the design better. I honestly wouldn't be miffed if this just included Batman though, so I guess he's a bit of a bonus. The Batwing set, however, is kind of a hodgepodge. I like the police car, but I keep going back and forth on whether or not I like the Batwing. Either way, I think I actually prefer the one from the OMAC set last year. We'll see about this one. I'm not really sold on the Riddler figure (though I defended the face earlier, I think the mask really ought to be colored) and don't really need another Gordon. Shazam is nice though.... The Batcave is also a mixed bag. While I like the general aesthetic, it seems way too similar to the 2012 version for me to consider buying; the basic layout is pretty much the same. Clayface is terrible, and I was really hoping that "Batwoman" would turn out to be a new Batgirl figure. Anyway, the new Catwoman figure is gorgeous and a Rebirth Two-Face is welcome after being stuck with the orange/purple one for so long. I might see about just Bricklinking those two, and maybe Robin. The Juniors Asylum might actually be my favorite here. I still probably won't get it because I wouldn't know what to do with the pieces, but I really love the colorscheme and some of those accessories, plus another guard. I do want to see about getting Harley Quinn's hairpiece at some point, but I kind of expect that that will show up next year with Harley in full costume. The Riddler set is fine for what it is I guess but easily passable.
  16. I actually sort of like this face. I wish the mask were purple, but I think the facial hair gives him a little more character when placed against Batman's other Rogues. It wouldn't surprise me if a more traditional figure shows up in the Juniors set to satiate the rest of y'all though.
  17. Oh, okay! Is s/he a reliable source? I'd actually be pretty happy about that colorscheme myself; I like the dipped ends from the Arkham games/Suicide Squad movie, but I've never been big on the half and half look of the New 52 version. If she's in the set with Joker, I hope that the Batmobile is good....
  18. Ah, just as soon as I think I'm out, they draw me back in! Catwoman's head looks superb; I've been waiting for them to redo her since LB3 came out. Now if they'd just do the same thing with Two-Face.... I'm also looking forward to Batman's soft redesign. The darker torso and head sock with paler skin tone are both good calls. Robin's torso and Gordon's head look good as well, but I'm not yet convinced I need another Joker, Riddler, Mr. Freeze, or Clayface. Did Harley's hairpiece leak too?
  19. I don't know about any of the other DCSV designs, but I'm at least going to speculate that Superman and Riddler will show up in the summer. It's puzzling as to why there are two similar versions of Superman in the game, the one from the Lobo set and then one with printed trunks and boots. My guess is that the Lobo design was originally going to be used in the game but was substituted when TT received the more detailed design from LEGO. I think something similar happened with Riddler, who has his racer variation designated as "classic" in-game. I think aside from these two characters everyone in the game seems to have no-non DLC/transformation variants (except Poison Ivy, who I think was a similar case to these two, except her base design in game was going to be the non-physical New 52 version before the official design from the Bat-mech set came in). This is all guesswork though....
  20. Thanks everyone! Thanks! I've fixed it now. Those are pretty straight part swaps. I probably borrowed Black Lightning for someone here, but can't remember to credit them.
  21. Please forgive me if somebody has started a 2019 topic. I can't seem to find one.... Is Mia's hair getting recolored to a brighter shade of red next year? That's what it looks like in official pictures, but it's kind of hard to be certain.
  22. Has anyone with the new Overwatch sets tried pairing Tracer's head with the 2012 (or I guess Mighty Micros) Catwoman? The face might be a bit too friendly, but some orange goggles might make it worth it.... Edit: Oh, and while I'm at it, here are a few shots of some figures I've done, though none of them are as exciting as some of the ideas others here have had. A lot of them are just remixes of old characters with TLBM and regular Super Heroes parts. Sorry I couldn't embed them; I think the pictures are too big. Apologies for the low quality as well.... Red Hood, Man-Bat, Killer Croc, Riddler Firefly, Ventriloquist & Scarface, Solomon Grundy, Hush Black Lightning, Robin, Nightwing, Green Arrow White tux Joker, Circe, easy head swap Joker Batgirl, Hawkgirl, Huntress, (and TLBM Black Canary) Supergirl, Lois Lane, Superman, Jimmy Olsen (and Krypto) Riddler, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, Bane Oh, and uh...ignore that E.L. James book. I've been doing research....
