LEGO Superheroes 2012 Rumours & Discussion

Well, they might be being a little paranoid, but rivals stealing designs isn't the only problem. There is also the idea that if we save up money from the excitement generated, they aren't getting it now. Chances are, they will get it then, but for whatever reason, they would rather have it now. It doesn't make too much sense to me, I read it somewhere, but it is probably more sensible from a buisness standpoint. Yes, there are a lot of sets that change and aren't final in preliminary images, but they don't normally change too much. Figures are often changed and the final set is a lot prettier, but it's usually very rare that a set is changed extensivley, one of the few exceptions is The Riddler and Bane's Hideout. If you haven't seen preliminary images of that set, it really changed a lot and I'd suggest you do. Personally, I hate when people don't notice the big letters reading PRELIMINARY. LEGO aren't the ones who put them online. The images do come from them of course, but it isn't really because of them, not directly at least. Retailers just show the catalogue to people who they shouldn't who take pictures and upload them the Flickr or YouTube or whatever. LEGO does normally have a lot of products out at a time and they want them to sell, they don't necesarrily want us saving our money for something that isn't out yet, because they need to clear shelf space, and I'm very certain that they'd rather it is sold and not put in the back of a warehouse. Oh, that does make sense from a buisness standpoint, I just noticed how. I wouldn't be surprised if Thor was in the Quinjet, but I am expecting him in the helicarrier as the rumor name was "Hulk and Thor". So far, the rumor names have been accurate-all of DC ones had the correct figures suggested by titles and "Iron Man" and "The X-men" were the preliminary names for 6866 and 6867. Did you post your post? I've forgotten to do that before. -

Thanks for saying that. I don't think that LEGO would do that. Sure they do treat us once in a while, but that wouldn't be smart from a buisness standpoint since it's easy for rivals to steal designs that way. Plus, the only people who really care are TFOLs and AFOLs. KFOLs do too probably, but you know, I can't really explain On another note, my Batcave finally arrived! Hoping none of the figs are misprinted... -

I personally find this Banner debate much more interesting than the one about Batman's cape/wings I read that FBTB is going, and Brickset usually does. I'm sure that we'll get some good information, though I recall last year that Huw only vaguely remembered some things. Most of which were somewhat accurate, but caused speculation that was really ridiculous (Madame Maxime in the Forbidden Forest? ) We don't normally get good photos until the New York Toy Fair though, which is on Feb 14th, so then at the earliest, possibly 15th. Of course we might be lucky to get some from Nuremburg, but I don't think that images from there are too common. -

Seems plausible. When I said even though, I didn't expect it right down to the amount of minifigures included per set. Should be interesting to see once images come around. -

When you think of Batcave, you may also think of Alfred who isn't included. And I'm not talking about play features, so I don't think that the Helicarrier will have one. I'm still sure that at least one of the Marvel sets will have a really nice play feature though (other than just missiles and exploding windows). Also don't have Clark Kent in the Superman set, Harleen Quinzel in the Funhouse, or Tim Drake in the Batcave (as just a couple examples). True, I don't mean completley even though. I mean more like number of figs worth mentioning (who would of really gotten that excited if they read something like "The LEGO DC Universe collection includes such memorable characters such as Superman, Henchman, Security Guard, and The Joker."?" But both press releases did mention thirteen named figures and as of now, they have the same number of sets. Sure, nothing will be perfect, I'm sure piece count will be off and in some countries it seems as though the X-men and Cosmic Cube are the same price. And then of course, there are play features which are not going to be identical (just felt like I had to put that in here). I guess it does rely on how important Banner is, but I still don't think we are getting him, not this wave at least. -

I meant number of named characters, I'm not going by loyalty (good or evil) and I'm not counting generic figs, only named ones. -

I mean keeping things even. I mean that if DC has 3 sets, Marvel will have 3 sets. If DC has 10 named figures, Marvel will have 10 named figures. I don't necesarrily mean in design, so no, I don't mean a Hulk transformation thing (even though that would be nice, I don't see it happening). LEGO is a toy first, but it's also a collectors' item, espceially with licensed themes. Giving you a second chance at all of the fiures in a wave in the same wave doesn't happen too often, if at all (recently). Sure, big-name characters like Captain America and Iron Man might appear in two different sets, but that's usually to sell a set. And I don't see exactly how Batman appearing in so many sets helps this theory, if anything it contradicts it because sure, there were a lot of Batman figures and other options for getting Robin and Joker, but Superman and Wonder Woman were still exclusive. As was Two-Face, who is also pretty well known. -
LEGO Superheroes 2012 Rumours & Discussion
SoupOrFishOil replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Licensed
The main playability of Super Heroes are normally the old good vs. evil idea. Though that's the same for other licenses/franchises like Star Wars, it's even more true for Super Heroes because for the most part they don't have a whole lot of vehicles (Batman being an exception, but we've seen plenty of him already this year). Star Wars does sell ships separatley, but they normally have a match up or two so that you need to purchase another $50 set to have a battle. So far, this hasn't really happend for Super Heroes, and it didn't happen in the Batman and Spider-man themes, there has always been at least one hero pitted against at least one villain. I guess that Captain America doesn't need a villain included in his set, but then I hardly see the point. Where's the playability with him and Fury (or whoever)? I suppose that this could be the first set to go in the Star Wars route of needing another set for any real playability (other than shooting missiles and launching escape pods), but chances are that this is going to be the small set of the wave, like Batman/Catwoman set. So, I'm thinking that there will be Captain America on his motorcycle pitted against Loki or a >see below< and possibly some scenery, pretty much like a battle pack with less minifigures. Plus, this is gearing up to be the small set of the wave, I can't think of a time LEGO made small sets for Star Wars which are meant to be pitted against each other, except for the battle packs, but as you pointed out LEGO has changed their tactics on that. And yeah, if DC has it, I'm almost certain Marvel will to. I've said this before but it really is amazing that they could get the two together (though I'm sure it's because they have good relations with WB and Disney), and I really wouldn't think that they'd easily want one to one-up the other. Looking at the press releases, they each even had thirteen named characters and they both have a store exclusive (Funhouse and Spider-man seems to be one). The only thing I can see that could mess this up is the Batman video game, but there could easily be a Marvel one next year. The Star Wars battle packs are a great example of the good vs. evil thing too. It increases playability. As much as I'd personally like characters like Nick Fury and Black Widow in a small set, unless Captain America is also a villain's code name, there wouldn't be any playability, and might look boring to kids on a box. The venomari shrine does have only one good guy figure, but there are also a couple green snake minions to launch at him. I suppose the same could be done for this, but if a kid would be more interested in Batman chasing Catwoman, or if they hav a few extra dollars, Wolverine Chopper, Superman vs. Power Armore Lex, or Loki's Cosmic Cube. Sorry if this was too long, there were a lot of thoughts I had that went along with your post. If they have a default form, I think they could be generic enough. -

No, of course they don't all have to be good vs. bad, but so far that's what the playability of this line is, so I'd be surprised if there wasn't a bad guy included, not even a generic one. -
Thank you. That would be great, I only need the front right now. If you could clean it up and change the black lines on the black side to gray so that they are a little more noticable, that should be perfect.

They downsize vehicles all the time in Star Wars. The only "vehicle" set I remember which was a few rooms in a vehicle and not the vehcile itself was the Mon Calarmi Star Cruiser (or whatever). I don't think that this will be like that, that was more of a collector's item whereas this line is aimed more at kids who would probably prefer to play with vehicles. Plus, LEGO loves to make vehilce vs. vehicle conflict sets, just look at DC. Only the Funhouse really wasn't, and to an extent, the Power Armor wasn't either. But even then, the Power Armor is a vehicle. -
Hi! I have a request I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone ask for yet. I'd like torso and hip decals like the new Two-Face's, but with the old black/white colorscheme please. So like the torso and hips here. I would also like the back printing and if you could make a decal for the back of the hips, that would be nice. So all of that, just with these colors. I hope that this isn't too much to ask.

Except this is a vehicle, which is what makes it difficult And actually, I think that the helicarrier might be in the size range of Batmobile/Two-Face, but that's only going by set numbers, so we can't be sure especially after DC's. But if it is, that sounds like a lot of bigger pieces. -

I'd just like to say that if it does turn out that there is a Banner figure included and/or a transformation device (though if there is a transforming device, of course Banner would be included), remind me, and you can have bragging rights. -
Great work there, even if it is just a MOD. Crime Alley looks great, as do some of you customs. I'm really going to have to resist copying your Firefly. And is it just me, or does Damian remind anyone else of Lloyd Garmadon And you too!

It does. There's Hulk for one thing. Black Widow would make sense to. There will need to be a villain/enemy or two. Capatain American, Iron Man, and Fury are all possibilities too. But again, Hulk is big. A transformation feature for him would make the 400 piece (a little less, I think) vehicle blocky and waste too many parts. -

He wouldn't necesarrily need to transform to breakout, again, what if he already was transformed? And plus, the way that you are putting it it sounds like there should be a telephone booth and a Clark Kent minifigure included in 6862. And why stop there? Why not include Bruce Wayne in every Batman set? Or Selina Kyle in 6858? Or an alternate outfit for Iron Man so Tony Stark is wearing normal clothes? -

Fury doesn't have to be included in the CA set though. He could be included in almost any of the sets (except for the Chopper and Cube, we already have the figures for those). What if he doesn't transform in that scene? And plus, it's a vehicle, and Hulk is HUGE. It would be pretty hard to make a transforming feature for him, much less in a vehicle included in a 389 piece set. -
As good of an idea (and ironic) it would be for him to have a snake on his back, I'd think it would be pretty funny if his symbol was

I doubt Fury is in the CA set, I think that there is going to be Good vs. Evil in every set, so either Loki or Red Skull, possibly just a Skrull though. Again, I doubt a transformation thing, so no Bruce Banner. I do think that you are correct about Widow and Thor though. Again, not too sure about Fury. For the Quinjet, no idea. I'd expect at least Loki though, and probably Fury, if he isn't in the above Spider-man-though the Fury not being with the X-men showed that the press release wasn't so accurate, I'm not really expecting Mary Jane or Peter Parker. But if Mary Jane is in it, I'll probably try to get it. She and Doc Ock together would probably give some great figure parts -

It wasn't packaged separatly, but I'll check the item number. I really don't care about that China stuff too much though, as long as it isn't all of the minifigures. It's what keeps them all detailed I think. Of course, you risk smudged printing, like some users have reported, but I think those parts are made in Denmark or Mexico. Edit: Has a normal part number, no letters in the front of the ID like Chinese pieces supposedly do. -
