Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

Wow, I wish I had known this before. I've had so many problems with stickers. The ones the main Lego retailers here use are too sticky. Thanks! -
REVIEW: 8804 LEGO Minifigures Series 4
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That is completely suprising to me... If I remember correctly, before it was released, it was one of the most anticipated series, and it was the favorite one of many. I remember I bought these for approximately $50 (without including shipping). Alas, I didn't expect this would happen. Or maybe Lego made just too much... Or maybe the market is beginning to wear out... -
Police Sets-Your Opinions
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to President of Brick Town's topic in LEGO Town
I don't mind about Lego releasing regular Police sets. I think that town is one of those themes that can live forever. And is a town complete without police? No. And although the designs can get repetitive from time to time, it never gets old for kids, and quite frankly it helps to keep the theme updated. I don't collect Lego city, but I still like almost all the sets and I'm a fan of Lego police. And I wouldn't mind if they didn't mix it up a bit, at all. -
REVIEW: 10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to dr_spock's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Wow. I know many will probably want to kill me for what I'm going to say, but when the first pics of this model were shown, I wasn't drooling for it. But now... Wow... I'm just impressed at the great amount of detail this set has. I would love to buy one, but I'll probably won't be able to do so. Thanks for the review, and I hope you enjoy the set! -
I always wanted to see a Lego Transformer, and this is the first one I see. I must say that I'm very impressed, far above my expectactions. The model looks very natural both as a truck and as a robot! Thanks for sharing this with us, and I hope that you make more of this. Cheers!

REVIEW: 8803 LEGO Minifigures Series 3
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think that Lego should have been more responsible with that. When I got the figure, I wasn't sure if I was simply having a problem or if the figure was supposed to end up like that. I can imagine a few kids damaging the piece because of trying to get it too far. They should consider that if they're releasing more figures with this piece, in my opinion. -
I grew up on the PT and was a late 90s kid. You would think that I love more the PTs than the OTs, but no. I think that even us, the younger ones, like the OT ships better. There are a few iconic vehicles from the PT that I'd like to see in UCS: namely, the Jedi Starfighter I already mentioned, and Anakin's Podracer. Other than that, maybe a few podracers, but the problem with the PT seems, to me, that you don't have vehicles that appear as consistently in the three movies as the Millenium Falcon, the Star Destroyers, and the X-Wings, just to name a few. Even the ones I named only appear in single films. And although I do enjoy watching the Clone Wars series from time to time (but you could argue that that belongs to the generation that comes after mine), I don't find the ships to be more interesting at all. Anyways, it'll be interesting to see what happens. I wonder if SW will ever wear out, and I also wonder how many more Lego SW years there are left.

Anyone here who knows Spanish and likes Latin American music? One of my favorite songs.

LEGO in legal battle with BanBao
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to JopieK's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I really hope Lego wins this battle. First of all, I think that we can all agree that the minifigure is an original creation from Lego. They do have the exclusive rights to sell it as such. Would you like somebody copying your designs and then selling them? And if clone brands ever forced Lego to lower its prices, this could also mean lower quality. Of course, I think that quality is one of the reasons why Lego has such a strong position on the market. However, if the company was forced to drop its prices, I think that it would also be forced to drop its quality controls, for the dismay of us all. -
Nice to see another of your Neo Blacktron creations! Thanks for sharing with us. I like this new Assault Rider. But please, replace that Megablocks piece ASAP! I like the color scheme on this one, although here's a few suggestions you might like to consider: -Adding a bit of green to the legs -Making the legs look sturdier -Giving the figs in the two front sets a trans cockpit. (Something like this perhaps?) I hope you'll keep sharing these cool Blacktron revival creations with us! Blacktron lives!

I don't know if this generational shift you are speaking about will be as strong, for a few reasons: -Most fans of the PT tend to be fans of the OT. The converse is what doesn't seem to hold. -Although the impact that SW had on newer generations with its PT films, does it really match up to the impact the OT had on the oldet generations? That being said, I grew up with all these new films, and there's practically no ship that I love from the PT, except for the episode III Jedi Starfighters, which would look awesome in an UCS set. I find the OT ships to be more iconic. I know I might be wrong, but I think that there is no ship as iconic to the PT as the X-wing, the Millenium Falcon, and the Star Destroyer are to the OT, to name a few. If they tried something else, such as character sculptures, that could be a different story. But this is what I think regarding ships.

Bricklink.com, ebay.com, amazon.com... They're very abundant. You can find them almost anywhere. -
The torsos are glued to the legs, right? Doesn't this affect the way in which it can connect to other legs? I would think that the glue residues could make it harder to attach other legs. Still, I just plain prefer buying loose figs on Bricklink.

I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I liked the old system better though. It seems to me that we had a wider variety of space sets at any given time. Right now, although we do have SW and city space, I feel that we don't have that same variety in space sets. Did they change that custom for any particular reason? Perhaps the cost of designing that much themes is much higher?

A few methods have been suggested, but there is none that leaves the minifigure intact. Of course, it depends on your interests. I, for one, don't want a minifig with damaged legs in my collection at all.

Awesome! Would love to try it! спасибо

I don't know if many think the way I do, but I've always felt that Lego videogames have always been among the best. I have four Lego games (which I'll admit I don't play with anymore ) and I have a tough time thinking which is my favorite. I think that my top two, in no specific order, would be: Lego Racers: Great variety of tracks from different themes, and the ability to build your own racing car! Island Xtreme Stunts: Always loved the freedom one had in th is game. So what are your favorite ones? Unfortunately I don't know that much Lego videogames, but which do you think is the best?

MOC UK Style suburban semi detached house c1940s
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to snaillad's topic in LEGO Town
Such a great amount of details. It's a cozy plastic house. The curved bay window is very well done. Thanks for sharing your creation with us! -
GLUED TO THE BASE!? Pity. Anyways, they do make some nice magnets. Thanks for sharing the pics.

This is a great idea! I love the way it works with a miniifig body. My only question is, does the minifigure body support the weight of the head? Have you done any tests with that? Thanks for sharing! Although I emphatically reject that "technic figures" are the best figures!

I agree that it's very wide, but considering SW is a licensed theme, I do think that there's an empty space right now. Of course, I think that it is only natural for Lego not to release another space theme at this time for the reasons that you people have pointed out. But the fact that I understand that doesn't mean that it doesn't bother me, on a personal leve. Are you sure of that? The Brickset info is based on release dates, and sets are not only sold in their release dates. Besides, I remember seeing many space themes in one single Lego catalog. If I'm not mistaken, I remember seeing Exploriens and UFO in the same one. I always thought that this meant that the themes were sold at the same time. Wasn't that the case?
-
I do hope that it's not that they think that AQ fulfills what fans what at this time from space, and that they don't release other space themes because of logistics. You do make a lot of fair points, and one of the things that comforts me is that this theme won't be around forever. But still, what is it that has changed that doesn't allow Lego to have multiple space themes as before? Is it the licensed themes?

Great model! Love the big wheels. Thanks for sharing! This was such a great show. It brings me many fond memories. It's great to see aliens in the Star Command uniform. If only we had had this with Space Police III. Oh well, we never know what the future is going to bring.
