LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
If my calculations are correct, 80 won't make that much of a difference. The probability of getting a complete set out of 60 completely random bags is around 1.7% With 80, it's approximately 4.9% If the bags were completely random, you would need to buy at least 347 to get a chance greater than 50% to get a complete set! For anyone interested, according to my calculations, the probability of getting at least one complete set in a random set of n bags of collectible minifigs is [(n-1)!*n!]/[(n-16)!*(n+15)!]. This is a function that grows very slowly for our purposes Edit: by the way, to get a more complete picture, the probability of hitting all 16 figs just by buying 16 is something like 3.3*10^(-7)%. -
Tired of licensed sets
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to happymark's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I know that many Lego fans will want to kill me for saying this, and will probably think that I'm not a real Lego fan. However, I like licensed sets for the minifigs we get. That's practically all I care about. Still, figs are getting too pricey. -
Can one ask more from Lego? All of our dream licenses are coming to life!

Discussion Should LEGO make a Military Theme?

No. And none of your governments should have armies by the way. -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Really? I would do the exact opposite! Anyways, here's what I don't understand. If there is a character who can't point his eyes in any direction, it is 3PO. Then why are they making his eyes point anywhere in the first place? -

My last hopes for C-3PO to be actually good-looking have just been obliterated. -

This R2 might be the first sculpture whose temptation to buy I can't resist. -

The Evolution of Star Wars Minifigs
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
To tell you the truth, I always believed that 3PO was missing his exposed cables. However, something looks wrong with the one in this pic. It could be the light, but the orange chest lines are too light, and the torso detailing calls for leg detailing to match the body. -
Indeed, I was thrilled to see this possible future. What we normally see is either dystopias or utopias, but not a mix of them, as far as I know. I also liked the evolution of human beings into two separate species based on work conditions.

Awesome. I've always wanted to build one of these.

Agree on that. I also liked Wells' concept of time travel. It's very different from what we usually see in today's media, e.g. all the wormhole stuff.

The Evolution of Star Wars Minifigs
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Just my two cents. I love the classic figs, simply because they are classic. I didn't own much, but I plan to buy a couple of yellow classic SW characters that I never got. However, I liked the change and the new details. I welcomed the greater accuracy. Now, with the more detailed figs, I'm not complaining. I think that the details are well done, so I find no reason to complain about it. Sure, compatibility is an issue, but I wouldn't keep that from making me enjoy the new figs. -
