42054 - Claas Xerion 5000 Trac VC
Henkl replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hello Max, that is not a similar crane as the lego model. The lego model crane is a single crane. In the video you see a crane mounted on a chipper. -
Grum's Shed
Henkl replied to grum64's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Grum, bad news. I like to read all your progresses and hope you recover soon. My excuses to everybody but I don't like the 8880 and would recomment the Arocs 42043 or the crane truck 8258. I have got the 8880 when I got out of my dark ages because everybody said that that a great set was but I only use some parts. Maybe it is because I am a studless builder? Anyway good luck. -
42053 - Volvo EW160E
Henkl replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I don't know if i like or hate the machine. What i know is that i will buy this set and that there are some changes i will made. We have to remember that it is a set with a license of Volvo. If they want it to be in this price range and this amount of parts then Lego has to make something to fit those remants. I even think that Volvo is paying Lego to make this set look like a Volvo. -
It was 8421 crane that my wife bought for me and the second one she bought for me was the towtruck 8285. I was making Italery and Revell trucks for a while but could not find any more space in the house to display them so she thought that if i would use Lego i could use the parts more then one time. We now have more then 50 large Technic sets and some of them two or three the same. The Lego curse stroke hard but that does not matter.

Steering for Trailer Wheels?
Henkl replied to cemus's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I made a 3 axl lowloader for my Arocs slt. Made the steering in a flashlight just like the Arocs. This is a simple way. Didn't want to use any motors and the neck is detacheble so links wound't work eighter. -

Hey man, love your truck. It is looking great. I really would like to use your leavesprings under my Straumann Giga Vitesse with the 2 axl steering tridem i am building for the Claas Xerion. Your chassis looks simple but effective and that is what you need.- 59 replies

42054 - Claas Xerion 5000 Trac VC
Henkl replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Then the only way is the wheelbase of 3600mm but that is difficult to count in studs on the pictures that we have. We probably have to wait until august. That is a shame because i wanted to make a Srautmann Giga Vitesse for it. -

Henkl replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
O no, just discovered that the outside black beam is wider then the staircase. Tractor could also be 19 x 8mm = 152mm 2500 : 152 = 16.45 Scale could be 1:16.5 Then we have to check the tires for the right scale -

Nice work Barry, great search. I have studied the youtube articles today. The Xerion is 21 studs in width. The fenders are 6 studs, 4 green and 2 black beames, and between the fenders are 9 studs. This is the minimum width of the tractor at the stairs and the original folder says the minimum width is 2500mm. 21 studs x 8mm = 168mm 2500 : 168 = 14,88 The scale of the Xerion is almost 1:15 -

Xerion
Henkl replied to JBTechnic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
That is much better. It was the angle of the camera. Maybe you could use the small short cilinders. Then the up position now could be the down position. -
Xerion
Henkl replied to JBTechnic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The cabin is nice and overall it is a great model but i think that the back axl is mounted 1 stud to low. That is why the tractor standing higher at the back and lower at the front. The ladder to clime in to the cab is for that reason not in a upright position. The other thing that is not right are the cilinders of the 3 point hook, they are to long. -

The tractordata site is not accurate. It says that the Xerion uses a Caterpillar engine but this is not true. It is a Mercedes Benz 6 zylinder engine. -

@1974 all new tractors from every brand above the 100 hbp has suspension on the front axl. Even the ford, it is almost 20 years now New Holland, and the John Deere tractors you are speaking off. John Deere uses a live axl until the 250 bhp and above that the same kind of axl as the Claas with two swing arms. -

Suspension is not rare on a tractor. Most new tractors have it. Even Claas tractors. For example the Claas Arion and the Claas Axion range. The tread on the tires is the right way but what is the right way. This way the most power is deliverd on the ground but when you turn the wheels around, the chevrons the other way, you will have less tire wear on the road. It depends what work you are doing with the tractor. -

I am curieus how they done the turning of the cab. He switches it on, yhe cab turns and at the end he has not to turn it off. It has an automatic stop. Love this thing more and more. A shame that they never present the b models. -

That massive exhaustpipe is on the latest xerion models replaced to an other place. So this is made after the specs of the latest model. I would have loved to see the beatifull pipe so that is the first mod. Wheels are great. I want at least 2 tractors. -
After a couple of years when my son was young i couldn't make the time for modding. With the release of the Arocs 42043 set it is time to start again. I am building an Mercedes Benz Arocs 4163 SLT. My example is the truck from Brunner transport from Littau who's pictures i found on the website Ditzj.de. What have i got. Instaid of my example i am building an 8x4 and not an 8x6. That's wy my chassis is shorter. The first axl has a spring suspension and the other 3 airsuspension with a smaĺl air cilinder. This means thst i can adjust the ride hide of the back and that the 2e axl lifteble is. The airsuspension is for unlocking the gooseneck of the lowloader i have to build when the truck is readdy. The truck has an airpump by hand because i am not using any motors. The wide of the truck is 19 studs, the wide of the cab is 17 studs. This because Brunner has an Arocs with a small cab. In this topic you follow my wip. Who can help me adding my brickshelf pictures?

I wish the best for all in 2016. That it may be a healthy, romantic, brickfull and technical year. -
Nice crane Efferman. Saw him yesterday already on dr brick. Can't wait to see someone build it on the Arocs. Can't do it myself because my Arocs, both of them, are under construction. I am building an Arocs slt with a lowloader. Build a lot today but came to the conclusion that the chassis is 1 or 2 stud to short. First axl has a spring, the other 3 axls are air suspended by the use of 6 small cilinders, 2 per axl. This way the 2e axl is lifteble and ride hide can be lowered. I am using a truck from Brunner as a example. This is as slt with a small cabin. This way I can use the wide of the original Arocs and make the bumper wider. Cabin 17 studs, bumper and fenders 19 studs. It is still a wip. Pictures soon.
