Its funny how dainty the old 4-wides look compared to their 6-wide counterparts.

Is bluish grey the color people refer to as bley?
-
Well I have no doubt ill make the hospital a bit bigger, possibly even turn it into a modular to fit better in my town.
-
Wow, I love the miners and ill be sure to add the hospital to my town. Looks like ill be spending a lot of money on Legos this year. I'm a bit disappointed to see there are no Race sets though. Not that I was expecting any, but it would have been nice to see some.

The front end of the van looks perfect now Strikeman. Great job

My only issue with larger minifig scale cars, other than that they look too big in a traditional town, is that they dwarf the minifig. Sure you can fit two side by side, but they look silly standing next to it. That's one of the reasons I prefer 4-wides, they look more to scale with their drivers. But that's not to take away from these creations. My passion is cars before Lego, and I love what can be accomplished stylisticly in 5+ wides that I could never do with my 4-wides.

I'm thinking the same thing! I love the idea of gifting Legos like this, and a kitchen would be perfect for my girlfriend. Maybe ill surprise her for our anniversary. I love the colors you used, the walls are the same color as my mother's kitchen and I always liked the atmosphere it creates in the room. The features are great, I particularly like the stove and the vent above the oven, simple but effective. The Kitchen Aid mixer is awesome, is that a black screwdriver you used?

Awesome 'cuda! The details are great and I'm glad you went with Plum Crazy and not Hemi Orange or Sublime.

Thank you very much for the comments, guys. I often worry that my cars don't stand up to the more detailed 5 and 7 wides that you see so it makes me happy to see that people do like these. Edit: I'm not sure if it's out of line to ask, but could an admin please index these?

I absolutely love that police car. I've tried 7-wide before but I can never manage to complete it. I always get stuck and wind up needing the pieces for other projects. I would very much like to see the LDD file for this. A 7-wide would look out of place in my town, but I'd love to have one on my shelf next to my F430 Spider.

I showed my 10-year-old sister some of these sets yesterday to guage her opinion on it and she said she hated the new Friends mini figure. She said she much prefers the classic minifig, but I suspect that is because she is already more familiar with them. She had Polly Pocket when she was younger and she used to love them so I'm fairly certain if these had been around when she was a bit younger she would have enjoyed these too. Now she's a bit more mature and less into typical girly things and more interested in horses and dragons. That said, a lot of girls I knew growing up liked horses so I would be sure to include some horse sets in the Friends theme if I were TLG. Personally, like basically all of the AFOLs here, I like the Friends sets for the colors and pieces. If I do end up getting any, ill toss the figs aside. I don't hate TLG for making new figures. As long as they don't replace the old minifig, you don't have to use the new ones. As for all the controversy, its clear that Lego is currently more aimed at boys. Aside from a few City sets, there isn't much for girls. In my honest opinion, Harry Potter is the only uni-sex line they have, owing more to the huge popularity of HP with boys and girls. A quick visit to the Lego home page even proves that they are more biased towards boys, with only male minifigs appearing on the screen. It only makes sense that TLG wants to capture the girl market and it only makes sense that to do so the sets need to be feminine. Is it right that toy companies in general play into this sexism? Possibly not, but proper parenting is what determines a child's development, not whether their toys are pink or blue. In this politically correct world we live in, it saddens me that we have to have any controversy over this at all. It's as if these various special interest groups just want attention.

This is a pretty easy one, but anyone care to guess what it is?

First off, happy birthday! Great rally cars, I particularly like the green and white one. You definitely captured the look of last year's C-segment WRC cars, if not this year's smaller B-segment cars. I may end up copying these eventually. Perhaps on a slightly smaller scale. It is unfortunate that there haven't been any City race sets. It seems racing is limited to the Cars, Ferrari, World Racers and Racers themes. That seems like a lot, but none are minifig scale except the World Racers, and those are too childish.

I see I see. I've never seen that piece before. I looked up the instructions to see how its built. Did you follow the instructions exactly on that one? If so, there is a black 1x2 brick on the front of the chassis that could maybe be subbed out for the 1x1 bricks with the outward facing studs. Not sure of the exact name of the piece, and it may need to be raised or lowered a plate to make it line up, but it should work. I'll need to place a bricklink order before I could start on the rally racer trucks, and money is tight with Christmas coming up so this probably Wong be until after the holidays. I'd also like to attempt a 6 wide version of the small pickup truck from mainstreet.
-
Well, I'm not sure how you have it secured on there, but perhaps if it measured 3x6 rather than 4x6 and you eliminated the second row of red, moving up the two rows of yellow? It wouldn't line up perfectly with the red, but it might look better. The black truck looks great too. This is all making me want to rebuild my old 1821 Rally Racers

I don't have any trains yet but I like the topic so... I work 7:30-5 every week day, so my Lego time is limited to after work and weekends. The problem with that is that time is also the only time I get with my girlfriend. We don't officially live together(we're still young, I'm only 20) but we spend basically all our free time together. Now that she is working too I have more time to myself to build without worrying about taking time away from her, but I do occasionally get her mad by getting lost in my legos while I'm supposed to be hanging out with her. Occasionally she will sit down and help me build. The bank I'm working on was partly built by her and she wants to help rebuild our house when I get around to it. I find what's more prohibitive than time is money. Making only $9.50 and hour makes it difficult to justify buying the more expensive sets that I want. $150 for a modular is a real commitment when its half of your weekly salary. But I've always been a bit of an impulse buyer so I still manage to get some of the sets I want. Collecting different themes is nearly impossible for me though. I would love to expand my Star Wars collection further but I'm more concerned with building the lego city I always wanted. When I eventually have children I'd obviously like to get them interested in Legos. They brought me so much joy as a child and even now, I want my kids to experience them too. I have a younger brother who likes legos and wants me to include his building in my town layout, but he has a bit of a stealing problem when it comes to my Legos so I'm afraid to give him too much freedom with MY legos. You develop an emotional connection to them and I hate to see pieces go missing.

Toothpaste you say? I tried oxyclean, nail polish remover, and a Mr clean magic eraser but none seemed to work. Anyway nice house, I like how it fits with your other building.
-
I love the flexibility of this design and how it can be reconfigured to fit different needs. That seems to be the case with many concept cars these days. I would love to see one in a dark green or brown.
-
These are brilliant updates, I really look forward to seeing more. My only issue is on the dump truck how the colors in the fascia don't line up with the colors of the body, though it seems you could easily fix that.
-
That's one massive hood and front overhang. It gives the impression of front wheel drive and something like a v12 under the hood. Good attempt, but the proportions are a bit off.
-
My only issue is that they are massive compared to my classic style cars. And there were a few minor design issues that I had to fix. I'll make a thread on that when I have some spare time. Tonight we're doing the Christmas tree I love the new forrest ranger uniform though, I think I may get the new police station and give my small city a forrest theme.
-
Got two new additions yesterday. Now that they're in stores(well, at TRU anyway) I'm going to get a different one every week. I was thinking since they're so drastically different from my 4-wide Bolts that I would badge these as Octans.
-
So, this is my first attempt at a 7-wide and it's alot harder than I thought it would be. I'm happy with the front end so far, I need to find the other half of the black stripe, but I'm stumped on how to do the bumper and lower valance. As for the rear, I'm beyond stumped. I'm not sure how I'm going to get the shape of the b-pillar right, but I'm thinking I may have to lose the doors. I was going to make the greenhouse 6 wide so I could use regular wind screens, but now I'm wondering if I should just skip having real windows. And I have to get black mudguards, I think that will look much better. I'm also wondering if I should have gone American. It would be easy to turn this into a Mustang, or even a Mopar muscle car. C&C is much needed! Edit:

I showed this to my girlfriend last night, she got a real kick out of it. She likes Emily's work out outfit.

We have a a modular fire station, how about a modular police station. I'm running really low on bricks and I really need a police station haha
