It seems logical if the sum of Castle themes win, they would make a Castle theme, but I don't know really. For example, I like some Castle sets more than others, but I wouldn't really mind any of them. Are there people that think different, e. g. that would for sure buy Forestmen but no way they would buy Black Falcons?

Me and everyone else I know whose country doesn't exist according to Lego and you can't open a VIP account? ☺ -
I'd buy any of these: Imperials Forestmen Pirates Black Knights Lion Knights Wolfpack Black Falcons Arctic Classic Castle M-Tron Blacktron Space Police Classic Space Possibly these too: Aquazone Rock Raiders Ice Planet So with my luck it's def gonna be something other than that :)

I don't think so? I counted them in excel.

I understand what you're saying but if: 1. lego puts bionice for vote 2. bionicle racks by far the most votes 3. bionicle mysteriously loses 4. everyone goes insane chanting "stop the steal" Isn't that worse than: 1. lego doesn't put bionicle for vote 2. everyone kinda disappointed but hey I guess they just think it woulnt' sell
-
Why would they offer the choice then? They had every right not to, as some other themes are clearly missing. What's going on with aquazone?
-
Well, if the recent votes are anything to go by, this is turning out quite predictable... A few votes here and there for Aquazone, Black Falcons and Dragon Knights. Some more for Black Knights, Blacktron, Classic Space, Forestmen and Imperials. Yet a tad more for Adventurers and Pirates. And about a gazzilion votes for Bionicle.

I like it. The minifigures clinched the deal for me. Light brick sounds interesting, never had one of those. But basically I'm just starved for Castle sets.

I am not in any way freaking out over it, but the lack of accessibility is disappointing. Obviously, it's a toy so it doesn't have a million things that a real city should, but none of them are needed for the illusion of the city on a superficial toy-like level. Accessibility is, since even while we were still building stuff in the sand pit "how they gonna get there" played a big role. Also, critique does not in any way undermine the work put in and can only make future work better if it reaches the right ears or perhaps makes enough people realize that something was missing that they weren't even aware that they were missing. Things are allowed and more than welcome to be 90% amazing and 10% shitty. Without a critical mindset, we might as well throw our hands in the air and accept whatever low quality sets Lego would theoretically throw at us because, hey, we might not be getting anything at all and should be grateful for what we have, since it's technically the truth. -
Or the whole cowboys VS Indians thing doesn't sit well with today's culture.

So... would older themes be at a disadvantage here, on the account less fans have been alive to have fond memories of them?

True, if they can only be connected in that way. If Gardens can, for example, connect straight onto the city, then you've just wasted bricks. -

As a non-fan, the new sets look really nice. Well, it would look like overkill if there were two lifts so close to each other (City/Gardens). -

I'm curious as to what can be done with it since it really does feel like "what is this now". Furthermore, it's odd to see a high tower next to a presumably old temple since this rarely happens and when it does it's not in this scenario. If something is meant to be viewed from the corner on, adding anything else to it wouldn't help either as you can't look at multiple corners at once :) Unlike the City, Docks look great from both sides. In fact, I keep changing the orientation of both making my display always looking fresh. Docks are why Lego keeps going bigger, flashier, more expensive. They're at least as well designed as the City, probably a bit better, and fit perfectly architecturally creating an organic feel of a real city (in Lego terms, of course), really emphasizing the contrast of old vs new, quaint vs bold, and thus flattering both themselves and the City itself, yet the buyers seem to be in the category of people that want to blow up a death star for the fourth time in a row. -

I've noticed with time, probably due to more complex builds, smaller pieces and new connections, Lego has more issues with grip on some pieces. In fact, appropriate for the topic, the green tower on my Ninjago City is pretty loose. The connection size and type is not enough for the weight of the whole thing. -

What are some of the examples of this alleged decline in quality? -

It makes most sense to show it that way. But do you think that's the only possible way? City+Docks can connect in two official ways and at least two unofficial ones that still look ok. -
Love it!

It will be funny if after getting Docks and City I don't get Gardens at all since Lego doesn't deliver to my country... lol -

The shrine addon confuses me, given how different it is from the Gardens themselves. Maybe it gives some extra opportunities for different connections with older sets. -

The ordering of City-Docks-Gardens seems only logical to me for promo shots. Gardens have to be in the fore, and the height variation adds some interest as Docks would look kinda sad hanging there in the background with the dense City and Gardens lumped together. Also, Gardens look like they're in a lot of ways inspired by City, so those might even be a tad too similar together. Btw I've just been shuffling my City+Docks around. Has anyone noticed how easy it's to fit them together in ways besides the "official" ones? -

Spring Lantern Festival is kind of what I partially expected from Gardens, only even better. Someone should mod that to fit with the rest of the city :) -

City can connect either to the left or to the right of the Docks. I'm sure they made Gardens in such a way that it won't be a problem connecting it as you please.
