  1. I might have an inkling on why there's so much in the Burrow for not as huge a price as that size set could have. You'll notice every photo is taken at an angle. This hides two things: The building's interior is one of the sides. The interior also sticks out quite a bit. And the sloped roof sections (which would be like a square-based pyramid) only have two slopes. This makes it more easily accessible but also means that the exterior will potentially only look good from the angle they've shown on the box. I'm not sure I've been clear but I think that makes sense!
  2. Although press release was also wrong which is weird
  3. I completely agree with everything you said. I really don't understand how these can be considered worse than 2018. But what is this UCS Dobby's Sock and where did it come from lol
  4. I agree with you on everything, except, I quite like the Grawp, but I could see why you would want him to look different. I think they had two routes they could go here and they are vastly different so naturally some people will be pleased some will be disappointed. and the Hedwig - while it doesn't appeal to me, I don't think they failed at all! What they've done with the clockwork is really clever, and the design is something very unique to Lego but very realistic-looking. I feel like you need to look at pics from multiple angles to picture in your head how it looks better though, as some angles make it look a bit weird. How do you think they failed? Sorry, press release said August but seems from the conversation and Lego S@H it is indeed July.
  5. I just realised, we were all bashing AshnFlash yesterday, and turns out we were both right - August in the US and June elsewhere
  6. I really couldn't disagree more. Most of your complaints seem to be about the interiors. All the interiors aren't great in Hogwarts sets. The Mirror of Erised room is literally a 1x4 plate for goodness sake! The Great Hall is obviously a good interior - but that's like the main part of the set. And your complaint about them theming it around Slughorn's dinner party - surely most people aren't buying the Clock Tower for the Yule Ball, no, they're buying it for the impressive awesome clock tower! Same here - people will buy this for an amazing Astronomy Tower. They had to choose a theme because they like to choose some theme, and they went with this. I understand your argument they should've themed it around Dumbledore's death, arguably the most iconic thing that happened in the Astronomy Tower - yes this would be awesome (regardless of Lego not liking death scenes), but I don't understand what you're proprosing this scene would contain, apart from different minifigures? And different minifigures you could easily set up yourself using existing characters! Meanwhile Slughorn's dinner party has food, a table, decorations... All your suggestions are (mostly existing) minifigures and accessories, apart from the vanishing cabinet. If you want minifigures that's what CMFs and Bricklink's for. If you want an amazing tower, then you buy this. Again, you're saying you're disappointed - but all you've mentioned being bad are the minifigures? "The design is disappointing." What does that mean? And anyone not expecting large wall pieces and archways coming into this from 2018/19 isn't thinking logically. to both of you: sorry, I didn’t mean to go on such a rant. Of course you’re entitled to your opinions, I just really can’t see where you’re coming from. I came across in a completely “you are wrong I am right” way and I apologise though.
  7. Maybe it's these weird angles that are making us think the set's not very deep - I wonder if it's actually deeper than it appears.
  8. Well there's plenty of sections of wall in both Clock Tower and Whomping Willow. These can probably be removed, or made to go round the side/the back. You could also rotate some of the technic bricks so that a big part goes sideways but still connects.
  9. Most if not all of these will be here until at least this time in 2022. Even the 2018 ones show no signs of slowing down or retiring yet - only the FB sets and Aragog's Lair have retired. There will likely be another wave next year though so if you want to get those as well, you can think of having 1 year to spread these purchases out. Of course, there's also potentially another set or two releasing later on this year, and also Diagon Alley (which will maybe be around even longer). By the way, this wave is no more expensive than 2018. So I wouldn't panic :)
  10. @Crookshanks You'll notice both the Clock Tower and the Great Hall in the background of Astronomy Tower - safe to say, I think you'll be safe being able to get Great Hall for a while as yet Me too, I love how it's not just the RoR but is a collection of lots of little references to OotP
  11. It is, it's just been put in the wrong place. Search "Harry Potter" in search bar. Yes, they are. Last year anything below $30 was the same number in £, so it's nice to get a little reduction in the smaller sets. Price of Burrow and AT were expected from previous years'. Maybe Privet Drive could've been a little cheaper but it ain't too bad. May have to break my 30% rule I was going on about to you for some of these
  12. They seem to be putting the item there before the images as they've been slowly building up. I expect the Burrow is just accidentally in the wrong place.
  13. We don't get them in the UK Aha, For some reason it's not listed under the HP theme yet, just search "Harry Potter" and it'll come up.
  14. UK prices: 4 Privet Drive £64.99 Astronomy Tower £89.99 Hedwig £34.99 Room of Requirement £17.99 Forbidden Forest £24.99 Burrow £89.99 It is now
  15. I think this (below) shows why they look different. They're clearly using some different sort of CGI that's making the colours a lot brighter. I wonder if that's deliberate since the films are darker and so they want to make the bright colours appeal to kids even if the film events don't?
  16. I cant speak for others, but I like it, but would rather spend my money on the other sets.
  17. It looks like it splits into multiple sections so maybe they'll do that.
  18. That's true. I guess if none of the sets are consistent in that regard then is there any inconstsency at all, if you get what I mean. I totally agree, they seem... different, somehow. I'm not sure how to describe it. I don't know if it could just be the slightly shiny look of these presumably early renders? It could also be that both Clock Tower and Great Hall had very front-facing grey roofs, whereas the AT is more just tan-front.
  19. Just noticed the colour of the cone holding the ski pole has changed from grey to green for the Astronomy Tower, grr
  20. Room of Requirement: I like that they packed features into the wall! It's clever how they made it so it's not just the room, it's also the educational decrees, and the sliding wall is super cool. It's nice that it connects and has a fireplace. However I can't help but feel a little disappointed there's not many "objects" in the room but I understand it's a small set. Forbidden Forest: I actually really like the Grawp approach. It's nice to get a much taller tree. The centaurs look fantastic! Although I feel it could've done with a small shrubbery build just to bulk it out a little personally. Privet Drive: wow, this is fantastic! It's super compact lol and only has the necessary rooms, but that makes it clear they were trying to keep the price as low as possible which I respect, and it prevents pointless stuff. The build is beautiful outside and the details and colours inside are great. The texture on the roof is amazing. And it's just asking for people to buy two and put it on hinges to open up lol. Astronomy Tower: wow, this is amazing! They've captured the shape SO well, and there's so much going on inside! I like that they've added that other structure as well (not sure what it's called - I was worried they were gonna just add walls. And the greenhouse is super cute. I'm in love, best Hogwarts set yet! Buildable Hedwig: I'll probably pass. It looks a little weird to me but I think it's well designed and the play feature is cool. But I'd just rathe spend my money on other sets. The Burrow: WOW. It's beautiful! So colourful, so detailed inside and out, I don't think we could've asked for more. Amazing! Now for this to get lost amongst everyone else's thoughts lol
  21. I love the box arts, they are so pretty!
  22. As I've said before though, you don't have to buy them all at once as they'll be around 2 years (although of course there'll presumably be more next year), and if you're patient you can get most of them for a decent discount.
