  1. wasnt really arguing so much in favor if that video, lol. I just said they guy has a point, which he clearly has. doesnt mean he is right on everything or that I agreed with everything he said. why do you come up with zero female knights? thats a bold assumption (or maybe you were joking). People really need to stop throwing people into categories, just because somebody doesn't like a huge army of lion knight females doesn't automatically mean he ir she doesn't want any female knights or assume they don't want any women in their lego sets, lmao
  2. when you use those words, bigoted amd serious, you pretty much tell the audience who is good and who is evil. its a simple technique. meaning, if somebody complains about female knights he is bigoted and cannot be taken serious, and its better to cancel.those people, thats how it works. I have never heard anyone saying they didn't want women in their lego, where did you get that from? Ofc there isnt any evidence, thats why I said MAYBE. we got woke movements all over the place, its fashionable to be woke these days and I honestly would be surprised if the largest toy company in the world wouldnt get pressure by woke groups to become more woke.
  3. Doesn't like satire to me. I mean, he has a point. Personally I don't look too much into it, and should I end up buying the castle I will simply replace the 'knights' heads. I think this set might also hint at why we didn't get too much castle in recent years. Maybe some woke people complained to lego about the old gender roles and lego didnt wanna upset them further. ehhh, controversy bigoted? serious-minded reviewer? is this some sort of a good vs. evil kind of thing where you get cancelled out if you don't pick the right opinion?
  4. I seriously doubt gender representation is the issue here. Its about role assignment imo. They want to steer away from traditional gender roles, aka men defending the defenseless princess and some such. NGL this one here feels very tacked on.
  5. haha, if she can live with inferior brick quality and the total lack of minifigs...
  6. I am not too familiar with the friends line, but aren't male characters underrepresented? I mean the friends are just girls, right? for what its worth, lego should have added two sets of heads, giving people the choice how they can set up their army, without having to resort to buying extra heads
  7. NGL, it shouldn't be that hard for castle MOCers to swap headpieces. Tbh, its way easier and much less expensive than to for example swap the dark tree for a brown tree.
  8. hehe, nice! ngl, that would be waaaay too expensive for me. even knights arent fighting all the time. tbh, the castle isn't believeable in the first place...
  9. I like female warriors, maybe not in heavy armor tho :). Its a playset for boys and girls we are talking about and lego does not want to promote females being subservient to men. Hence no king but a lady of the castle, I guess. The roles of men and women arent that clearcut anymore. Personally I would swap the heads as I opt for moderate historical accuracy. This would certainly not be a reason for me not buy the set.
  10. true that! :) tbh, although I am a purist I don't judge if other people buy non-lego. Cobi for example does good quality work (dont like the figs tho), they only use prints and design their own elements. Chinese clone brands are a big no-no imo, I don't wanna help them get rich by blatantly copying other people's designs.
  11. nothing wrong! I was just nitpicking. adults point of view, trying to justify the expense or talk my way out of it, haha. Tbh I don't really care about the playability of a set, more interested in design and displayability. Btw, what do they need a drawbridge and portcullis for if the enemies can jump right into the castle via the watermill - jk
  12. tbh the dollhouse rooms seem to have just abou 4-5 studs depth. And while relatively detailed there is simply not much room. Not really saying it should have been blacksmith style, that would be have been overkill (pricewise, lol), but the more I look at it the more it seems to be a jack of all trades master of none kinda thing. The dollhouse part doesn't seem to great to be displayed, and the fascade is at the end of the day jusy a fascade.
  13. Another awesome build!!!
  14. You gotta check the options in the country you live in. Generally, buying lego sets from legos website is a bad deal, VIP points give you a 5% discount, 10% when its 2x vip points (obviously). But then there is ofc the GWP which adds some value and its mostly if not always lego exclusive. In general most sets can be purchased at 20% discount soonish after release. 30% can be a bit tougher to find and those deals don't last very long (understandably).
  15. Its prolly nostalgia but as somebody else already pointed out, lego designers chose colors based on what was available at any given time and with new colors being introduced designs changed, for example yellow was used for sand in pirates sets but was replaced with tan later. And if more colors had been available back in the day, they would have most likely chosen those instead of black for a tree. And I very much doubt there would have been an outcry over a (dark)brown tree in the forestmens gwp or the new castle set. Although IIRC during lego con they mentioned they designed the set based on what they (the designers) and fans liked best about castle, so maybe I am wrong and black is indeed everyones favorite tree color.
  16. I really hope so... imo shields and stickers don't go well together. Guess we will find out soon.
  17. I think people are nitpicking because of the price point.
  18. thats the image peepos were talking about on FB. lets hope it really is fake news or false impression this would be aweful! just thinking about the price to amass a lion knights army. think battle packs arent coming, welp
  19. huh? wdym? obviously from the retailer, xD I mean, I got the blacksmith shop from lego.com, thought its an exclusive, only to see it at 30% off a couple months later online.
  20. Thats true, all castles that came before where nowhere near this size and detail. Hard to make a fair comparison.
  21. just saw a post on facebook, apparently there are stickers on the shields, smh.
  22. Imo this is the by far the greatest castle lego has ever released, in both size and quality. Tbh, I don't think anyone expected this to be on a MOC level of detail. Lego does not design MOCs. They design sets which follow certain rules, the lego system. There is lots of great MOCs out there but they either bend the rules or are very fragile. That being said I have a few gripes myself. The bland bley walls feel a bit boring, a bit dark bley here and there would have spiced things up. I don't know how to feel about the ramp. The minifigs could have been better, while I like the lion knights, reusing the bard and the blackmith torsos feels a bit uninspired. The magician is was designed with nostalgia in mind, but I prefer the one I got from BAM recently. I already disliked the forestment gwp design, I mean, why use black when you could use dark brown? Prolly nostalgia... But its been done again here, another black tree. Overall this is still a castle I would like to own. I really hope its gonna be available in retail stores, then I will grab it at 20-30% discount.
