  1. Great new strips KDog. Awesome to see President Weiss get some attention. I know that gradually the focus will come to more central characters but I'm really glad that the spotlight is on others right now. I laughed at the leather too, that actually came out really well. The Savage Element is a great one-off strip too. I think my favourite part is how it is actually deteriorating with the philosophical talk changing to "Oh No! Not again!" Nice to see the Pirate Lego being used, I like it when you use non-space themes occasionally, what do you think of the new Pirates theme? Anyway, looking forward to the next one! Batbrick Away!
  2. And you're proud of it? Do the people that are actually upset about this news a favour and don't act like a smart alec. Anyway this is a sad day for me, I'll ust have to buy decals from people then to make custom figs. Still, I maintain hope that even if the Batman line ends, future lines will yield good fleshie faces for Batcharacters. Batbrick Away!
  3. I have to say that 2008 has been a wonderful year for Lego. Castle was as brillinat as ever and the Star Wars fans had a lot of fun with the new Clone Wars sets. City really remained strong too and I love the new Agents sets. I hope 2009 can be as good as this year was for us Lego fans. Batbrick Away!
  4. Thanks friend, very much appreciated. You're right, it is a bit like an armoured fridge Thanks, glad the front looks good. Oh shutup you Thanks mate, glad you like the slightly hidden roof hatch. I do agree the sides at the wheels would look better out more but they can't be, otherwise they would be touching the wheels unfortunately. Now hurry up and go watch Heart of Ice again! Batbrick Away!
  5. Thanks man, much appreciated! Now guts just posting to let you know that soon the voting will be over. So if anyone has anything yet to say go ahead, otherwise the choice is pretty much made! Batbrick away1
  6. Good point, but we all love the Commish, and if Riddler, despite his John Glover coolness had succeeded we wouldn't have Gordon in all his Bob Hasting coolness would we? I love those stories. They may be viewed by some as "pointless" because Bats will always continue but I believe it's not about the inevitability but about the character study. It reveals and explores just what Bruce fights for and why he is succeeding despite all the bad happenings. He may have began the freak element but in doing so he helped remove the grip of corruption in Gotham and made the enemy something the public can see as the creatures they are, not a menace that can blend in. What have you opened now? I'll definitely buy them, cause let's face it, the opportunity to own all the Batman and Detective issues in order from the beginning is a temptation no one can resist. There are seven volumes right? Are they still releasing them? I hope so, personally I love that they take a while to read. Though the melodrama is very present, somthing about that old noir feel gives me chills, especially Bill Finger's stories - not that Bob Kane hack who wanted Batman to look like a bird, Joker to look like a Jester and the only character he reated after was The Penguin. Pah! Okay, I'll admit, that is really rich. Especially the "snapping erect" and "in a deadly thrust" Why is Blackbeard even in a Batman comic? I'm surprised she could speak at all and simply not just barf. I wouldn't prance around either frankly though, but atleast it'll be a fun story to tell people in the future - or actually now that I think about it not. Pegg is a legend so that was a given. When is it coming out? I always laugh at the red shirts on Star Trek. Futurama even made fun of this when at a weird Star Trek convention one of the newer members of the team is electrocuted. He wore a red shirt naturally. You suck. Watch them now. Seriously though, you're missing out man, the hilarity hurts my stomach. I forgive you You have been posting more frequently recently, though now I believe I've jinxed it after saying that. Oh and by the way, thanks for commenting on my Freeze truck, glad you liked it. How are your Batmocs going? Oh New Frontier is epic. I gotta say sometimes I love clean line art more than "dirty" or "gritty" art. Scott Beatty also is very good at this. It's still very well drawn and very evocative, especially with Cooke's thick lines and inking. He also draws a cool Selina interpretation. That's awesome, I hope to pick up the other two volumes later next year. Right now on my list are the rarer books: Birth, Bride and Son of the Demon (Demon trilogy), Venom, Sword of Azrael and Prodigal (not likely to get sadly though). Atleast you'll probably be getting Christmas money to spend on some stuff eh? Mind you I was glad to see that sucker get taken straight to hell. saw it coming? Easily. Enjoy it? Hell yeah! :pir-skull: Have you read it yet? I didn't mena he literally died though, hence the itallics, just that there is not a single thing in the story that really comes as a big surprise (apart from a lot of Batgod which I hate) nor would actually make give up being Batman at all. Maybe the "fate worse than death" was the biggest anticlimax in history? I'm finished ages ago. Having fun still though going through the levels, I think the Penguin saga was the funnest, though the Joker levels were very epic, love the Batman 89 references there. Who have you yet to unlock? I'll post pics soon of my Mafia suit. It's funny because all my friends are usually so conservative but we got up on the dance floor all night! Me and my friend were even game enough to dance with a couple of out teachers! Course I'm finished at my school now for good, so I gave my awesome teacher a hug at the end when everyone was shaking his hand. Before that in an assembly we presented him with a present we bought him. Since our class idolises him so much my speech consisted of quotes like "the ONLY man ever" and "Calling him the most awesome person in history would be an understatement and insult to his legacy". I'll miss 'im Also if you ever want links to anything movie, series or comics related just ask. I ca direct you straight to BTAS or The Devil's Advocate in its entirety Batbrick Away!
  7. Missed a few! Sorry KDog! Love the recent ones, Gunbar was hilarious, for some reason I never noticed his coincidental name. Naturally I was amused by Officer Masoch, he's always a riot, the joke at the end took a while to sink in and then I was just as repulsed as DACTA was! Very interesting to see Jenny here though, wow was I happy to see this thread turn back up. Really nice to see some subtle hints but at the same time a lot kept secret. I also laughed at the end with the "Why can't I have a hot girl stalking me!" considering her head tends to turn to a skull in your dreams. Anyway thanks a heap for doing this KDog, it may be hard work but know we're really appreciating this advent calender, I think it's my favourite ever Christmas countdown. Look forward to the next one! Batbrick Away!
  8. My brain just exploded! Seriously mate this is hilarious stuff, this picture completely took me by surprise, I hadn't guessed you'd go THAT far! Your mini-girl-you-moc is great, love the addition of those flowers and rubberbands, actually a very clever idea. Buuuuut....yeah, still creeped out. Batbrick Away!
  9. Haha! Love the profile job. As I suspected it is done in comic job. Continuing to love the fourth wall breaks and the whiny remarks from Verwaand. But the real chuckle came from the Breasts comment. That was gold Batbrick Away!
  10. I actually like that Batman cheated. goes to show that while the Riddler may be a far more effective problem solving and lateral thinking mind, Bats always finds a loophole to "cheat" his way out of the situation. A blurring of two different kinds of smarts. I Am The Night is fantastic I agree, nice to see Babs yet again too. Also good as a heavy focus on the importance of both Batman and Gordon, and their relationship. Good job, I wouldn't have the patience to do something like that. Though I do with my chocolate advent calender. Keep me updated please! Plus it was hilarious to hear Brains yell "Yippee!" in the background at the end. I just didn't see him ever uttering something like that Okay, you've got me there. Which Chronicles volume is this? Because despite their faults there are some truly good stories there. I assume you've already gone past the Batman-holds-a-gun period and the first Joker confrontation? That's just awesome. I'm afraid to now, but I'll post in there soon. I laughed at your moc version of it though, surprisingly spot on It does look very good. I'm admittingly not a huge Star Trek fan but I am very interested. Though the heavy emphasis on a very young crew and even more feminine Spock scare me. Of course it has Simon Pegg in it which equals instant win, have you seen Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz with him in it? Finished ages ago because you take so long to post nowadays ( ). Ego is very, very good. Dawryn Cooke is a very good writer and I love his art style. His remake of Night of the Stalker is a brilliantly moody update of the classic tale. Ego itself was quite short but another great story, I absolutely adore the appearance of Cooke's Joker and Two-Face. There is a surprising amount of TAS influence (though not so surprising once you find out he is good friend to Bruce Timm who even contributes to a story here. The largest tale here is Selina's Big Score which is a four part adventure focusing on Selina not Catwoman, which is great and very fun. So overall I'd very much recommend it to you. Black and White was also very good, some of the tales here a very classic Batman. My favourites are the ones where Batman's more passive and caring side are shown. Cause let's face it, all anger and no love makes Bats a dull boy. Of course Two of a Kind makes the entire collection a must have regardless of the other stories. Also picked up No Man's Land vol 4 and Batman: Gothic today. The former is very good with Two-Face's finest hour during NML with him cross examining himself in court which was crazy psychological. Bane makes a return which is also very neat, and Leslie continues to show Batman that violence is only an answer for temporary peace, as she even manages to touch Zsasz for a few seconds. Overall I loved tihs volume though I want to fill in the gaps and read the bits I missed out on before. Are you acquainted with the arc? Gothic was recommended over at SHH boards. I read it and lied it, didn't seem like typical pretentious writing of Morrison. It was never truly scary, moody or compelling though. No regrets on the purchase though as it trumps anything Morrison is doing these days. Plus, it was a Legends of the Dark Knight story so I have to have it. Batman RIP is awful. I read it recently and trust me there is not a single shocking revelation at all. We don't even get a proper "death" for Batman. Tell me what you think of it when you read it though. Also, how are you going on the Lego Batman game? Also-Also, Leaver's dinner tomorrow, so I might post a pic of my snazzy pinstripe look (Hey, it beats your dress!) Batbrick Away!
  11. Great new strip KDog! I laughed a heap at the last part, very much in character for Ronald to be a Momma's boy, and to be afraid of her leaving! That joke was definitely the coup de gras, also liked the "You bet!" at the end. As for the profile idea, great! I'm really looking forward to this, are they going to be done in comic format? The DACTA bit introducing this was also awesome, I'm a sucker for explained 4th wall breaks and chocaltey entrails. Batbrick Away!
  12. I'm of this opinion as well, though I'll still buy it. Being a primarily minifigs-first guy, the Young Gordon face and mechanic torso are good enough to buy. As for the wing I like it, but it isn't as good as it should be for such a good scene, I'd love to mod it though. The fuel truck is another disappointment, so many reductions from the original design. Still, thanks for the review, I'll still look forward to getting the set. Batbrick Away!
  13. This minifig is made of so much win right now. Love the helmet choice and use of custom claws, the robotic arms serve their purpose here well. Can you please post a pic of him from behind? I'd like to see how that back parts are attached. Batbrick Away!
  14. That's the funniest thing I've read in ages! For a second I thought you said "it looks like that other random guy is getting some" Thanks mate! I don't like the blue a whole lot either but I didn't want to paint it. The angling thing was the hardest part, you're right, I did try to balance it out with more browns and blacks. The barbed loops are some of my favourite pieces. I agree I wish I had thought about storing the explosives better, now that I think about it a small safe cabin at the front would've been perfect. Oh well though. Thanks a heap again and the first part will most likely not be as delayed! Thanks, what movie was it? Thankyou very much, feel free to come up with your own theme, it is very fun to create your own little Lego universe I like this TGIAIB! Great minds think alike on the boat hull I guess, do your own original if you wish I'd love to see it. Batbrick Away!
  15. No it doesn't. Why should it? Batbrick Away!
  16. Awesome, thanks for that update. Glad ot see more characters are getting the spotlight. Just remember to wrap up some storylines before starting others, I know form my Interactive Apocalypse that it's tempting to begin before you finish. So my advice (tohugh you may not need it) is to try not to make it too much like Lost with too much overeaching plots This was a great part! Love how Mikey was hitting on his brother's wife, and him actually liking the future! Can't wait for the next part, the mat and background here actually worked really well. Batbrick Away!
  17. Awesome mech LuxorV, I love the orange/grey colour scheme mixing, certainly fits in with the cyborg aspect of the inferno team. Love the "robot" robot arm, those things are hard to dp, I know as I did one for iamded's mech, and you've succeeded very well here. Love the leg design it is very ingenious. My only criticism is the back which looks a little bare and undetailed, I'd love to see a little more on it. All in all though a great creation! Batbrick Away!
  18. Awesome little ship Oky! I love the green colour scheme and the use of the old style cockpit, really makes it feel like an old school space fighter. I for one love the green box at the back, sure it isn't streamlined but I love a little boxiness in ships. Hope to see more space creations from you in the future! Batbrick Away!
  19. Thanks SCG! I'm glad too Mr Freeze is getting mocs recently, I agree he is a fantastic villain and sadly underrated. Thanks mate, I love that literal gate-crashing scene, perhaps I'll do a moc of it one day? Actually these guys are normal blue, I don't have dark blue torsos. Thanks for the compliments though, great to see another Freeze fan! Thankyou very much! I'm really glad the truck turned out that good Thanks, I also feel the arches look good as fenders. Sadly I have none of those pieces left now... Thanks as always Oky friend, glad to see another BTAS fan. Yes, that one did have a rounder hood and also a dome not hatch on top, but still I'm happy with it. Oh, and I love that Subzero part! I had forgotten the truck was there as well! Great idea with the clone guns, I don't yet have any but next year I'll get a couple of those Clone battlepacks for the pieces and make it his gun. Thanks for the idea. Oh, and I love that compilation, thanks for posting. Thanks Righteous Squid, I love your Freeze work too, thanks for posting. Batbrick Away!
  20. I respectfully disagree, this moc shows all kind of traits present from the animated portrayals to the 60's styled Mr.Freeze. I think the story and revenge part are merely satire, a humourous interpretation, nothing to be taken literally or seriously. Yes, his true name is Victor Fries, though as I mentioned the 60's feeling hearkens back to the days when his name was ,you guessed it: Victor Freeze Anyway, great Bat-work again Righteous Squid! You are really giving my Mr Freeze Truck a run for its cooling equipment with this baby. Absolutely love the capsule for his wife and the main testing tube, I'd love to make something similar. Also great is the DNA testing bit with snow rock. The entrance is also very cool, I love the design, looking like half ice cave, half tech base. And of course that little weapon station and coffe table make it all worth it. Really looking forward to the Mr Freeze three wheeler! It really is a Mr Freeze week! Batbrick Away!
  21. Congratulations Brendan Powell Smith! Your work is very good and it is nice to see it get some recognition. Keep up the good work! Batbrick Away!
  22. Hello all, I've been meaning to post this for a while as part of the next Bat Mocs'N'Mods Treat but realised this armoured truck was too big and detailed to not get its own thread. By now you have realised there is no free scone and that my true plan was to lure you here! This vehicle is heavily based off the BTAS animated Freeze truck which he used to steal various parts for his giant freeze ray (the episode was called Heart of Ice and is still one of the finest Batman tales ever): One difference is the lack of side door which was too hard to incorporate, instead I put a rear door: It may look small in there but trust me, this thing is way bigger than normal TLC van type trucks, and can fit five people in it: The printed piece I've now found another of so it is on both sides now, it is meant to represent some of the cooling technology integrated within: Like in the animated series the side panel opens to allow for gunfire or freeze ray mayhem: The top also opens up like in the episode to allow for Mr Freeze to fire his ice beams: Here he is firing the freeze ray with a henchman below taking sideshots: Side shot of the scenario: Open sesame! Final shot of the gang: Thanks for looking and compliments are not just appreciated, they are mandatory! Oh, and here's my favourite scene from Heart of Ice. Batbrick Today!
  23. No! Not on the backburner! Great job on getting the set though, isn't Harley just wubbable? How's the Calender? I ended up skipping on that. Well done on the missions too, the new sharks are some of my favourite new things from TLC. Look forward to seeing mods. Don't mock my mirror me! He's scary! No, I meant that he plainly gives his name away to people calling for International Rescue. Huh, never saw the "Bondson" bit, nice notice. Anyway, one new episode watched, Day of Disaster. I quite liked this one as a kid and still do, what with the ridiculously big Rocket transporter over the bridge. Of course the totally unnecessary but hilarious part where Jeff Tracy swallows a transmitter is great. The fact that he's telling grown men to "go to your room!" is so funny! To be honest, TB has gone on the backburner too recently to make way for a load of anime my friend recommended. I know you haven't seen them as you aren't one for anime style, but Cowboy Bebop is absolutely flipping fantastic I'm going to buy the box set sometime. So yeah, add that to your list of things to look up Sorry sir but dibs doesn't work that way. Also, its either her or Babs. As any self respecting supervillain would say: "You can only save one frined, so who will it be: The girl, or the, er, other girl?" Tell me about Jekyll and Hyde when you read it then, I've heard it's a good out-of-continuity tale. I frankly love Golden Age, say what you want but barely any Joker stories have beaten Batman #1 and #2. Not to mention those early Mad Monk and Huge Strange stories which were spectacular. Frankly I think Dustin Ngyuen is getting even with Tim Sale for me! Seriously, his depiction of the Batcave in Heart of Hush is my favourite Batcave ever, and his Hush is great. Plus he draws a hot Ventriloquist (Peyton not Wesker, but I guess his Wesker ain't to bad if that's your thing ) I agree with you too on the "unusual" artists that have a unique style as well, I love those styles. Particularly aforemention Tim Sale and Dustin Nguyen, as well as Dawryn Cooke, David McKean, Matt Wagner. Yes, I really want one. Heck, just ot cement myself as a hardcore comic geek I'd love to have a "cinema" rack of Riddler, Two-Face, Joker etc costumes to take to the movies. .........Ha. Seriously, I was balling my eyes out laughing at this. Do send pics if you can, and make a moc, because this is simply TOO hilarious! Cool, tell me when you send more! Thanks, and I did. Went to Hobart and talked for over two hours to the owner of Area 52 about Batman, Superman, Frank Miller (so many whore jokes), writers, artists, Star Trek upcoming movie, Watchmen and on and one forever. You name a Geek thing and we talked about it! I've never felt so truly happy Anyway I bought Batman: Ego and other Tails and Batman: Black and White volume 1 which they conveniently had there. I loved them both. I don't know if you've read Ego but it truly is a great book, especially the remake of "Night of the Stalker" story and Selina's Big Score. Luckily also the seller of the issue said we can return it which was nice of them. Also bought No Man's Land volume 2 at Birchalls. Gotta say I love No Man's Land despite being annoyed Volume 1 wasn't there. Penguin is at his finest hour here profiting majorly from the disaster, and Two-Face is the biggest warlord. Also Death and the City arrived. Love Dini's writing and the new Ventriloquist, and the non-Dini stories Triage (featuring the Terrible Trio no less!)and the bomber Vox one were great, particularly the latter. Thanks for recommending a lot. Thanks man, I just really love talking comics to someone after not being able to do so for so long, so I do ramble quite a bit! Funny with your sister (again how old is she?), though I myself and off in dadaland most of the time, constantly replaying possible scenarios - best and worst case -, as well as replaying music, movie scenes and figuring out problems. So my family slip right past me without my knowing and the next moment I'm all alone! Cool, tell me when things kick up. Batman #681 is out tomorrow so hopefully it'll live up to expectations, which are quite low seeing how much I despise this arc but oh well, might as well look forward to it right? Batbrick Away!
  24. Thankyou everyone! Thanks WhiteFang! Much appreciated! Thanks a heap Hollisbrick and thanks too for keeping interest. I'm glad you like the ship and monkey. Thanks. Yeah, that happened to a few characters which I decided on changing prior to closeup pics. Just ignore that little mistake Thanks. I agree the rock pieces should've had a bit more construction and detail too, so thanks for that little note. Thanks LuxorV, I'm glad to finally post it. Thanks, I don't plan on revealing what The Cataclysm exactly was, but oyu are right in saying that this gives it more scale. Thanks evil lord and master Dragonator as usual I"m really happy you like it, the person standing next to Sondra is generic random #47, AKA just a new recruit. Trust me too, the deck on slant was one of the most annoying things I've ever built and as you can see in that last link propping it up sometimes resulted in catastrophic failure! The windows are from the Spiderman Dock Ock set and are stickers, but very very good ones. Thanks a heap! Thanks Oky! Glad the wait was worth it, I'm promising myself to be quicker next time. Thanks for commenting on the slanted ship idea, I'm really happy how it came out and fits well with my other unique creations. Great catch on the pirates month too, I hadn't even thought of that! Thanks again! Thanks Inertia friend. Dragonator does have the advantage yes, but this coming plotline does have a unique twist in it. Yes again I'm ashamed at the face changes, just ignore that, I changed them a bit after ship photography. Looking forward to your own AI mocs! Please do post them soon and inform me when you do! Batbrick Away!
