  1. Sweet little vignette Captain Blackmoor, your warhammer (that's gotta be a reference) is a wonderful design, the use of orc helmets is inspired. The use of that hood piece does well to make a non-warrior troll too. Batbrick Away!
  2. A wonderfully original setup here SLyOwl, I love all the medieval details and bents on the classis Fair conventions. My favourite is the carousel, I adore the dragons and horses on it. The Ferris Wheel also looks great, though I think it needs more colour as it seems more bare than other parts. Little details like the dodgem car flying into the crowd, the hammer game and kid not tall enough to ride really make the moc. Though I think there should be one more dodgem car as that area there looks a little plain. Fantastic stuff overall, the chamber below really puts a sadistic quality to it, albeit in a comedic way. The best part fro me is the troll in the running wheel Batbrick Away!

  4. Ha, hypocritical humour; I love the self-confessed irony of a big Star Wars fan thinking Star Trek is nerdy Personally, I think Firefly is better than both of them. Batbrick Away!
  5. See, I think I understand that oyu just didn't voice yourself very well before. Instead of saying "In my opinion Star trek is awful" you must have really meant "I can't watch Star Trek", since by your own admission your opinion is based on preference as opposed to objective assessment which I thought you were employing by calling Star Trek "awful". If this is true my apologies, as I thought you were attacking a show for the sole reason of not measuring up to another with different appeals, when (atleast I think) you meant that it was unwatchable to you by matter of Star Wars being more "your thing", hence why comparisons with other sci-fi shows/films was unnecessary. Boy I hope this was true or I'm gonna feel quite embarrassed. Batbrick Away!
  6. Are these the same people who think that boat-sinking waves are an unnatural phenomena? Batbrick Away!
  7. Fantastic set up here SlyOwl, love the concept and it is very...dare I say it...cute The knoight on the horse is an especially nice touch, and the whole thing has the wonderfully surreal, fantasy touch that I love. That said, I don't think some of the parts on the ground are, I could just tell the wheat field, but the pipe piece is a mystery to me. Batbrick Away!
  8. True, but maybe it'd be better to encompass a bot of Marvel and spidey in the same topic, rather than making an entirely new one? In keeping with that proposal, if TLC were to somehow get the Spidey license back, I'd love to see Hob Goblin, Venom, Mysterio and Tombstone. The last of which has piqued my interest since Spectacular Spiderman, and Mysterio is just made of all kinds of awesome, especially the show's running gag that every single time they take him in it's another robot copy. Batbrick Away!
  9. Brilliant Oky! This certainly far exceeded what I thought oyu would build, and I had a pretty high margin too! Absolutely love the way you've done the black and orange colour scheme, the front of the train is fabulous, and I love the vilainous details such as the cannons and laser - which is wonderfully melodramatic touch by the by. The fact that the engine is powered by pure evil made me laugh The mech-carrying carriage is a great idea and you've certainly done it justice even if there isn't much actual detail on the carriage. The use of the squatting position for them ech and chains is very neat, as are the crates packed with weaponry. My only gripe is that it feels as if the back is missing, I think it just needs a final carriage in the same vein as the front, though I can understand that you might be low on required bricks. That said an amazing and hilariously over-the-top job, I think Inferno has made a good choice with this one! Batbrick Away!
  10. Totally committing this to memory Me? I voted the "like to see fantasy creatures" option, as I think they are very useful but also normal factions are great too. However, I always regret trying to army build even with the awesome trolls, as now I have an army of them that I don't know what to do with. I'd make them all Poison Ivy's plant people, but then I don't know what to do with the torsos! Arrgh! Batbrick Away!
  11. I was thinking more; "That's a Smith and Wesson, and you've had your six" Trust me, I've built way more complicated things off of pics than this, it's not that hard it just requires ducking back to the computer a lot. And that is a compliment btw, I am seriously considering putting together one. Batbrick Away!
  12. I had a good laugh at just how much they tore apart Lego Space right there "probably knocked them up" Looking forward to the real comic returning unless you want me to have a seizure KDog, though this was an entertaining sidetrack. Batbrick Away!
  13. Fantastic job AlienCat as always, I love the way you've done the red colour for the Castle, it gives it a slightly sinister quality that I love, whether or not this was intentional. The little details are great, I especially like the curved wall section and how you've positioned the figs on it. I wish you the best of luck in the competition! Batbrick Away!
  14. Another great point. Indeed the Indy figs are up with the Batman figs as some of the best ever produced. I shall be sad to see them go, as I was hoping to get Thuggee figs in a smaller set. However as I've said before, the PoP figs will be great for Indy still; can anyone say Staff Indy? Batbrick Away!
  15. You make a great point, not to mention the variety of animals would really be appealing to Lego fans. That said, I think the Tank scene would be utter perfection; we would get a camel or two, a flippin' tank, some neat German soldiers with General Vogel, Donovan, Sallah and of course Indy riding a horse! Batbrick Away!
  16. Since when did the X-Men have an SR-71 Blackbird? Never mind that this would be enormously impractable, stupid and money wasting, because it is so cool! Batbrick Away!
  17. I'd say personally that epicness is a pretty poor scaling system. Firefly is considered on of the best sci-fi anything out there, and the only epicness it has is in the movie, and even then it doesn't reach the scale of Star Wars. If you're going for epicness the recent Doctor Who finale had the destruction of all reality imminent, but the story was a mess, deus ex machinas were present everywhere, characters appeared for no reason, plotholes abound and bad characterisation was at a critical level. Blade Runner is another movie that is considered a sci-fi classic, even a masterpiece, there's not much "epicness" in that either. And total agreement Tereglith, I could rant on for centuries about all the archetypes Star Wars used. Even Vader, considered one of the greatest villains of all time, is pretty standard as a character, and the prequel trilogy fails to develop him. And although all those other things were much like Star Wars, I would very much argue against the planet destroying ship and blasters, they're both staples of science fiction that existed before and after Star Wars, it'd be like claiming Mission Impossible was a ripoff of James Bond because they both had top secret spy missions and pistols. Batbrick Away!
  18. I think you underestimate just how pulpy StarWars is. For one, it is one of the most unoriginal movies there is in terms of story and characters, even for its time. It has some awkward dialogue in places, and don't get me started on that Leia twist, yeah right Lucas, I'm sure you had that planned all along. Not to mention the massive amount of coincidences. I'm not bashing Star Wars, I love it, it's so good because it does all the retro style and all the cliches so well, it is almost the perfect pulp film. All I'm saying is that while Star Wars may be great, let's not look at it through rose-tinted glasses here, it's not entirely original. Batbrick Away!
  19. Aww, this is nice NewRight, I love that you haven't done the typical or even cliche route but instead come up with a creation that is both simple and even a bit moving. Batbrick Away!
  20. This is awesome. You're awesome Basiliscus! Though I wouldn't call Alien or The Thing "soft" horror, I'd say they are more classic horror that don't conform to ridiculous Hollywood horror cliches. Having just recently shown my family The Thing, one of my favourite movies, this is a great moc to me. That atmosphere you have evoked is brilliant, the simple colour scheme really works. The placement of the objects is fantastic, doesn't give a feeling of claustrophobia so much as being wide open for an attack. The grilled floor is great too. Also, totally agreed on the "best horror is that which you don't see" principle, it's why I love the HP Lovecraft mythos so much. Batbrick Away!

    City 2010

Yeah...even though I've moved away from City is recent years I normally buy at least one or two or three sets, but this year has been so disappointing for me; another big wave of construction vehicles, fifteen thousand tractors. Next year doesn't look all that spectacular either, with the exception of the pigs, which I won't be getting anyway simply because I'm trying to save money and the set isn't really necessary to what I hope to be building. Now if we got a post office or a bank, I'd be all over that. What a missed opportunity that 2007 postal theme was. Batbrick Away!
  22. I think someone is missing out on a great deal of jokes, try reading his webcomic before bashing it like a baby harp seal. That said, should the comic end, that is EVER end, I promise you I will eat a kitten! :skull: Batbrick Away!
  23. Damn that is cool, I've been wanting to see Miyazaki films for ages but keep forgetting to hunt them down all the time... Y'know, looking at that, I think I'd rather have intelligent rock monsters with their own bases and vehicles. That way there would be more potential for the line with different colour schemes as well. Batbrick Away!
  24. Err, yeah, I've really got nothing for what else the trianglewheelymcbob could be used for, perhaps an Indiana Jones treasure? Heck, anything's better than those boring skulls! Oh and Belloq, please don't post pics that big, I'm trying to save downloads on my computer as they're running out, kill it with fire! Batbrick Away!
  25. This is more beautiful than words can express DNL, this is the best creation I've seen from you! Love the rock effect across the castle, some mocs don't get it right but this is sheer perfection. The little village outside complete with mini-forest is fantastic, I love that a lot of your mocs are not limited to just a castle. However, of course, the castle here is the main attraction and the best bit, the enormous towers that jut up higher are wonderful, my favourite part of them is the arches. The buildings wedged between really work too. The front lower section of the castle is not quite as impressive, but still built very, very well. Of course the fact that this is so good and the fact that this is only your first for the competition makes me practically give up as a mocer Batbrick Away!
