Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
glendo replied to Darth_Legois's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
there's a seller on gumtree that has great lego sets/prices... only the big sets. he only does local pickup in the northern suburbs. his prices look to be competitive. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-seller-other-ads.html?userId=1000236274 -
i bricklinked a GG 6 weeks ago. i took a couple of months from the idea to the finished result. http://aussielegofan...ar-green-grocer

i would love to have a layout like that. well done on getting the right sets when they were available.

do you really need the moderator to approve it? if you just want to run a competition (unofficially and without prizes and glory, or a front page) should it not be as easy as running a builder's comp in this topic, and keep it in the town forum????? seems harmless, and a bit of fun to watch really.

what are you selling? you have a potential buyer here -
i cannot better any praise that has been said, but i will say thank you.... for letting us see this masterpiece. question: piece count? (estimated)

i think you can stop calling these set names by the vehicles from now on, and start calling them by the minifigs within the sets. ie: Jabba and crew with barge, Luke Skywalker in Hoth with accessories.. etc etc if TLG keeps this new tactic going forward (more figs>less bricks>smaller vehicles>higher prices>segmented releases) the next X-wing they release (by ~2015) will have 7 minifigs, a ship made out of 12 bricks, that will be spread over 3 set releases (part 1 will be the wings, part 2 the fuselage and part 3 for the cockpit) and will be 20% more expensive than it is today. i'd rather by sets (vehicles, spaceships) without minifigs, than a horde minifigs within small, terrible sets. if minifigs are the cause of this shift, IMO ditch them and go back to what it was. i buy star wars for spacehips, not for dolls/minifigs

my personal favourite: the new B wing but best improvement of the year was jabba's palace hands down. i hope they do a lot of 'reboots' in this calibre of quality.

since seeing your brilliant work, i've decided to plan a farm for my city. well done

im curious to see if we get stung with the standard AUD$300 in Australia. if the set is USD$150, typical lego markup would probably make it AUD$250 down here... mind you, with our currency we could buy it in the US for about USD$145... will be watching closely. if the rip-off occurs, it will be my first Modular set bought online

So are people don't like these beautiful Modular because it doesnt look American enough??? it's a homage to the Chinese theatre in LA... you can not get more american than that. IMO the Modulars are European, with the exception of the FB and now the new one..

i wish TLG would release 1 almighty minifig set.. like a movie release with every main character in it... then they could go back to making great spacecraft and vehicles. some of us collect spaceships, some of us collect figs. as i have said before i believe spacecraft are being sacrificed for figs. just make a 20 fig collectors pack for each movie and be done with it. ..or better yet SW CMF series!.. one series for each movie 16 figures from each... army builders win, fig collectors win, and SW set collectors win (because TLG will hopefully go back to making great spacecraft/vehicles/scenes with more clout)

i like it a lot. it has a homage to the Cafe Corner with the high tower in the middle (which could make a street block somewhat symmetrical if they are on either side), and introduces yet another style/era of architecture. It is obviously inspired by the chinese theatre in hollywood. im getting this ASAP. the roof 1x1 circles reminds me of one of the features at the new LL Malaysia. (shown below) they used 1000's of them to make roofs, to resemble a fantastic array of textures and give it a worn look.

im a little concerned with the path the SW sets are going. i can tell the difference from 2012 they are going with lots of minifigs, but less in the way of the vehicles, brick count, size etc. im thinking the golden age for great vehicles and scenes is over... it's now all about recycling the past. the golden age of SW appears to be behind us 2013 is underwhelming so far but you get lots of minifigs! /sarcasm

i hope it's not like that, for some reason i dont like that one.

this town is truly awe-inspiring. i plan to have a city layout like yours in the next couple of years, and i will look to yours as inspiration. thank you.

i came out of my dark ages in 2011, so that year was the year of awakening and enjoyment, 2012 was my true year of discovery. i know so much more about this Lego universe now than what i did 12months ago. I have also had the privilege of going to 2 Legoland parks this year. 2013 will be my Lego year of maturity... i know what i want to do, and so far i know what i want to get. i started being a star wars collector and have ended up buying Modulars and City lego... 2013: spend wisely, build more, enjoy what you have

i was being resourceful.. i had yellow windows and wheel rims laying around so i used them instead of another colour. i have an idea to tweak the corner mid section but it will wait a while. black slopes are abundant out there and were easier to acquire. i would love an original CC, but im not going to pay the prices demanded for one, and the prices for some of the parts/colours.

i did this myself last month, with a colour variation to make it cheaper for me.
