  1. I also have 2 akro-mils type drawer systems for specific items, but generally the mainstay of my loose parts are in here. (for aussies, these drawers are at Masters, Kmart and Target at $8-15 each depending on stores)
  2. I had to move rooms around this week, and the lego layout had to moved as well. It was a big job. midway, all of the modulars were on the kitchen table... well, the upper floors were. Im sharing some pics to show the masses in another angle just how small the PR is in comparison to the older modulars. Now the base of the PR is very close to the same as older modulars. This is what im worried about in the now and the future. Are skinnier, slimmer modulars here to stay? I think TLG are reducing the modulars by size and grandeur.
  3. it looks fantastic, the colours and detail are terrific I remember when modulars were 3 stories tall
  4. well done mate! i think you are onto something
  5. Is the DO going to be stackable? (add additional levels by replicating the middle floor)???
  6. smaller modulars are here to stay by the looks of things. Comparing it to the PR on the back of it's box they are similar in height. (I recall the designer saying in the PR release video that size took a hit for interiors this time round). 20% sized reduced modulars are the new norm.
  7. I'd like to see a dutch/amsterdam styled place next... a newer version of Market st perhaps. Instead of the Blue, dark browns and whites.
  8. first impressions: it blows most of the previous modulars out of the water. I want more like this, less like PR... two will be coming home with me of course
  9. It's nasty. I have no interest in every acquiring it or BL'ing in it's true design form. I have designed a modern version on LDD i'd rather create.
  10. to conclude our drift of being off topic: The museum is beautiful but will never be in lego ideas due to the price point and size. Look at Cuusoo/Ideas range from the start to now, all of them are ~$50 price mark with a max of 508 parts. They appear to be aiming this at a price point. now back on topic: as for the next modular, do we expect it to be of the same size as PR?
  11. what's your (the forum readers) take on switching Dark red roof on a CC for black? Im contemplating the switch because i have a tonne of black slope bricks, and the price of dark red is crazy... but........
  12. All I have seen the last couple of months is a couple of buffoons create hype and hysteria (with unreliable sources) = causing everybody to panic and speculate... which seems to actually be having an impact on sales (maybe because this is one of the world's most pivotal discussion areas about modulars). It's quite funny how many people act like white sheep and follow the herd... (maybe this is how religions get started.......)
  13. Lego city was originally denmark, then the greater europe area, now it's firmly in 'Murica.
  14. there seems to be a lot of BS stocked in this topic....
  15. I believe the artificial speculation has caused a panic/rush on both GE and TH and supplies have been dried up. (although GE retirement is plausible). "out of stock" without a date IMO means the factories are running at capacity , and dont have a time when production on another batch will be planned. Exo-suit didnt have a planned production run for a while if I recall..... IMO... it's all UFO conspiracy theories on TH, and a panic has occurred. Mind you, TH is the biggest modular out there, and they are probably not getting much $$ return on producing such a large set.
  16. On another note, surely we are due for another Custom modular competition by now?
  17. I know exactly what you are talking about! they are two completely different problems
  18. that's not my pic guys, i just found that for reference... where's the love?
  19. It's not about quality.... it's about quantity. They are in everything.
  20. and we think the Ebola Virus is spreading rapidly.... In 2011, TLG unleashed a new brick Seperator. It was an experiment designed the help mankind with the universal problem of sticky bricks, and allowing for happy hours of building. - these seperators were placed in many large sets of significance, and rapidly covered the planet. - they were designed with one thing in mind - TLG planned to spread them out so that every human on this earth had an orange seperator within an arms reach, ready to assist you...... ....... /dramatics OK Lego, It was great getting a new brick seperator in my large lego sets. The new orange (and green) version is great It was great the first time, the 45th time i received one it's kind of getting a bit too much. The very first one still does the job well, the other 44 were not necessary. It's time to turn it down a notch. they are rapidly taking over the planet. I dont think they need to be in every set I purchase.
  21. Im starting to think most of us here could swap lego with marbles or coloured beads, and we'd still feel fulfilled with sorting.
  22. I've camped in the lair this weekend to revise/update/tweak my sorting system. The method I put into place is working, but just some of it needs refining as the collection of loose grows and grows. Some things i have decided to merge, other things have been separated or re-arranged. I swear half of this hobby is sorting... to fulfil the OCD within all of us
  23. it wasnt my first lego, but this was the first set my Dad bought me to have personally. I remember i was 5yrs old. I was in hospital for my birthday and he brought this into the hospital. It sat on the chair next to my bed.
  24. i consider this the greatest lego farm i've ever seen https://www.flickr.com/photos/60207751@N04/8410318588/
