Harry Potter 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
sebastian666 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I hesitate to even share this here, but there is a new “leaker” on Instagram who claims he has “evidence to support” his predictions for the August wave. Has anyone else seen this? What are your thoughts? He is saying: 76391 - $250 Micro Ministry of Magic 76392 - $60 Malfoy Manor 76393 - $120 Diagon Alley Expansion 76394 - $40 Quidditch Pitch 76395 - $30 Harry / Voldy Final Duel UPDATE - I’ve asked him to share what “evidence” he has to support this and will share what I hear if/when he gets back to me -
Harry Potter 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

The biggest question I am currently grappling with: who does LEGO think is the target audience for these sets? The 2018-2020 sets seemed to be designed for young adult fans of Harry Potter who enjoyed the films as children and maybe now had a renewed interest in the franchise due to Fantastic Beasts. They also clearly had a target on young women and girls, focusing on fancy dress balls and dinner parties and horse drawn carriages and adventure themes and much less on action themes and big bloody battle scenes. These new sets do not seem targeted to the same audience as the 2018-2020 set. My assumption is that LEGO believes the young adults they originally targeted with the 2018 reboot may now have children of their own and they can relive some of their nostalgia by building sets similar to ones they may have had 20 years ago with their kids. And these sets definitely feel more action (targeting boys) than adventure (targeting girls). But this seems like a big risk to take for a line that was already doing so well. If it’s not broke, why fix it? Overall, I don’t hate the new sets and will probably buy every single one as usual. Looking through the blurry pics again with the beautiful green roofs, they do make me feel nostalgic and a bit heart achey for a simpler time... Maybe LEGO is giving us what we need in 2021 and not what we want. But my biggest hope is that the empty translucent bar coming off the Grand Staircase Tower is intended for a yet to be revealed open-winged Fawkes the Phoenix. Fingers crossed. -

If I had to wager a guess from the info @Guyon2002 has been generous enough to share and from the timing of @Falconfan1414’s recent comment (right after a thread about Gringott’s being the D2C) - we sadly won’t be getting a big beautiful D2C Gringott’s this year. I think this was the biggest assumption and expectation among LEGO Harry Potter fans for the 2021 wave and would, therefore, lead to the biggest disappointment. Maybe LEGO is holding off until 2022 for the big Gringott’s and in the meantime we will get a reimagined little 20th Anniversary Gringott’s mine cart set like the one from 2002: -

I will second @Clone OPatra and remind folks that what is disappointing or underwhelming to one LEGO Harry Potter fan, may be incredibly exciting to another. We all have different tastes and opinions. What I appreciate about the info @Guyon2002 shared is that he didn’t say the second wave is going to be good or bad - he just said lower expectations. In my mind, lowering expectations means don’t hold your breath for lots of new characters, molds, and prints and don’t get hung up on all of the remaining sets fitting into a predetermined theme that you were expecting (in this case Deathly Hallows) based on previous releases. In my opinion, the most important set that we are missing right now is Gringott’s - so if I’m lowering my expectations on that I’d say there is still a good possibility it is the $250 set, but maybe there is no dragon that comes with it and just a handful of meh minifigs like Diagon Alley. I would also be disappointed with a big Quidditch set or a bunch of other Harry, Ron, Hermione repacks like a Forrest of Dean tent. I guess time will tell... -

This carried me away Thank you for giving me a much needed laugh today. You are a great creative writer and I could not agree more with your point about the silly debate over exclusive minifigs. Very well put. I keep re-reading and laughing -

I am also looking forward to some nice recolors in this new LEGO Jurassic wave. I don’t know how realistic it would be but it would be cool to finally see a LEGO Velociraptor that looks like the one that is described in the Jurassic Park novel - yellowish skin with reddish tiger stripes. Similarly, I’d love to see a LEGO Dilophosaurus with the novel color palette - yellow and black leopard spots and a red frill. I think @Guyon2002’s friend Lucca did mock-ups of these recolors but I can’t seem to find them. Thanks for catching that! -

I’m re-sharing the only “confirmed” info that we have right now, courtesy of @Guyon2002. If I’m not mistaken, the prices are $30, $40, $50, and $80 for these sets respectively. We have been advised to keep our expectations pretty low in terms of new content for these sets. I think we will be lucky if we get a recolored Carno as Toro from Camp Cretaceous in the $80 set. Hopefully, this info will help get our conversation back on track. -

Very well put. I personally don’t have much interest in a $120 Durmstrang ship either (though the minifig selection could be great), but as @RogueTwo outlined above - this is where it looks like all signs are pointing right now. I’d also much rather have a $120 Shrieking Shack (or Malfoy Manor or Ministry of Magic or Hogwarts Bell Towers). I guess we will find out soon enough. -

I agree that $250 will almost certainly be the Gringott’s / Diagon Alley expansion. But I am still sticking to my original prediction that the $120 set will be the Durmstrang ship. Maybe I will be proven wrong - but I seriously doubt that we will get another Hogwarts set this year in addition to the three new Hogwarts sets that are already “confirmed.” -

Now THIS is how you make a prediction list. Thank you @vstat05 for showing the kids how it’s done. No shade on some of the other folks making predictions and wish lists - I just appreciate realistic predictions based in facts and previous release trends. I agree with this list 💯 and am most excited about the $80 set which could include Toro the new Carno. @Guyon2002 can you weigh in (however vaguely) on the accuracy of this prediction list? If not totally understandable. -

No reason the “board game” feature couldn’t be the Chessboard Challenge as we suggested. My guess is that there is going to be some connection between this feature and Wizard’s Chess / the Chessboard Challenge -

I was just about to make the same comment. I think the “board game” comment got lost in translation from the original leak. I imagine it means we are going to get a few wizard chess piece builds to recreate the Chessboard Challenge scene in Sorcerer’s Stone. -

I agree 💯. I am praying this a sign of things to come for LEGO Jurassic. And the Camp Cretaceous content really lends itself well to some nature builds like this. Hopefully they take advantage of it. -

LEGO’s official Instagram account just posted a 2018 video of a beautiful fan-made build of 12 Grimmauld Place. Curious that LEGO only now chose to promote this video from 3 years ago... Could it be a clue of what’s to come this year? I would kill for an official LEGO set of 12 Grimmauld Place... https://www.instagram.com/p/CK6i9LODDVe/?igshid=9aoqoakn1d9u -

I agree with @Guyon2002 and @Balrogofmorgoth. This forum has devolved into an echo chamber of one or two members’ endless wishlists - none of which are based in facts or reality. It’s selfish and frankly inconsiderate to the rest of us who come here to discuss leaks or to speculate based on legit information. I get it - we all love Jurassic Park and we all love LEGO - but there are rules to help these forums run smoothly. Please respect them. Could someone please remind me of what facts we actually do know about the upcoming LEGO Jurassic sets? I’ve totally lost that info amidst all the other jibber jabber. How many sets are we expecting this year (vs next year - I seem to remember a delay of one wave)? Do we know when they will be released, piece counts, etc.? I think I even saw a set name somewhere... TRex and Triceratops Escape? Thanks! -

This is AMAZING! I didn’t know about Extinct Bricks. Thanks so much for sharing. I really hope the shift of focus onto BioSyn means we will get some new, scientifically accurate species like this. It would be so badass to see the InGen “monsters” like Rexy and Blue, etc. going head-to-head with “real” dinosaurs. I don’t want to set myself up for disappointment but I am so hyped for this new movie and next year’s LEGO sets that will accompany it. -

I’m just going to toss in my two cents on the Spinosaurus debate. For all the reasons that @Guyon2002 mentioned, I agree that there is no chance that the Spino from JPIII will be returning. However, I don’t think that means we won’t get a Spino in JW Dominion... It is one of the most popular and elusive dinosaurs in paleontology and, in just the last few years, scientists have completely revised their theories on the physicality and the behavior of the Spino. Wouldn’t it be smart for the JW Dominion producers to build off that Spino momentum (all the recent TV specials, Nat Geo articles, etc) and give us the most badass representation of this leviathan ever seen? They could make it a BioSyn creation and have it feature all the new anatomically correct features that we now know the Spinosaurus to have (e.g. the massive tadpole tail). @Guyon2002 has your friend Lucca done a mock-up of a scientifically accurate LEGO Spinosaurus? I would pay money just to see his design of that. Spino is hands down my favorite dino of all time. -

To wink.leakz‘s credit, he has now publicly acknowledged that @Falconfan1414 and @Guyon2002 confirmed the list he published was incorrect and he has apologized for it. It would appear that he is a member of this forum so if he is reading this - thank you for correcting the misinformation. I had a feeling the info was bad the minute I saw it because the lineup didn’t fit into LEGO’s marketing model for Harry Potter (which has been much discussed and debated here): these sets are ultimately designed with a female audience in mind. That being said, I am offering a few predictions below that I think better fit the marketing model of 2018-2020 76386 - $19.99 - The Forest of Dean (small lake and tree build with Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the Doe patronus) 76387 - $39.99 - Bill & Fleur’s Wedding (an addition to the Burrow set featuring the wedding tent and some quirky minifigs as guests that can also populate Diagon Alley) 76388 - $79.99 - The Battle of Hogwarts (featuring the viaduct bridge or the courtyard and McGonagall’s knights) 76389 - $129.99 - The Durmstrang Ship (which will include a small second task build with some mermaids) 76391 - $249.99 - Gringott’s Bank (D2C Diagon Alley scale expansion featuring the Ukrainian Ironbelly dragon) 76392 - $59.99 - The Ministry of Magic (a build similar to the Rise of Voldemort set where the focus is the golden statues) 76394 - $39.99 - Advent Calendar (A Weasley Christmas) -

I loved watching @Ashnflash’s reviews of the new Hogwarts Moments sets. These look so much better than I expected and that McGonagall minifig is probably my new favorite next to the CMF Dumbledore with Fawkes. But, at the risk of sounding like Hermione, I die a little inside every time Ash says “Levgardium Leviosa.” He does it in every one of the review videos! It’s “WINgardium LeviOsa”, Ash! Not “LEVgardium LeviosA”! -

Could someone please clarify - are these school crest art sets supposed to be part of the winter wave or are we already getting leaks from the summer wave? These will be the first four HP sets I skip since 2018, but I am excited for the summer 2022 leaks to start popping up! Thanks.
