Jurassic World 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
sebastian666 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
A leak of what appears to be Dennis Nedry’s minifig head has popped up on Instagram. This is most unexpected... what do folks think it could mean?! If we get some surprise JP sets I will be over the moon. Imagine if we got Nedry with a JP JEEP and a juvenile Dilophosaurus! EDIT: False alarm! Sorry - it looks like it’s the same actor but for a Seinfeld set... -

Oops - I keep forgetting that one is a Juniors set! In that case, I agree the Stygi set probably won’t be Camp Cretaceous but I still think the other three will be. This would be a dream come true - and I think it would sell like hot cakes. It’s an instantly recognizable location for JP fans, includes a JW hero dino, and a diverse cast of kids from a popular show. I am praying to the LEGO gods that you are right. -

Season 3 of Camp Cretaceous was awesome. I’m now convinced that several (if not ALL) of the sets that @lego_guyon02 leaked a few weeks back will be based on the show. The T-Rex Fossil set will probably just feature the T-Rex skull along with a new, more-accurately colored Blue velociraptor from the iconic scene in season 3. The Baryonyx Boat Attack set will probably feature Tiff and Mitch’s boat (and an otherwise made up attack scene). The Carnotaurus Chase set I’m sure will also be based on CC and feature a Carno (maybe with some minor mold updates) and a Toro paint application. The only head scratcher is the Stygi set, which will probably be a random scene but I’m sure they will use it to give us an exclusive minifig of the seven Campers so we have to buy it to have the whole Camp Cretaceous crew. I’m dying to see some leaks now... I really hope LEGO takes advantage of this great content and doesn’t just give us made up sets again. -

The official Jurassic World account just shared a sneak peek of an upcoming Target exclusive toy set by Mattel featuring (finally!) the iconic Jurassic Park Ford Explorer along with Rexy and Tim. This is incredibly exciting news because, if I’m not mistaken, the reason we never got the JP Ford Explorer as a LEGO set was because Ford hadn’t released toy rights for this vehicle. It looks like Ford has released the toy rights now, so we could have a JP Ford Explorer set in LEGO form soon! If anyone has more info about the JP vehicles, please share. -

Exactly. I don’t understand all the hate over the Chocolate Frog Cards. They are beautifully designed prints and I can’t wait to get my hands on them. And LEGO is not trying to get parents to buy multiple sets just for these tiny tiles as some kind of cash grab. Kids are going to trade them with each other just like with real cards. It makes the whole anniversary series feel so special and interactive. -

I think the difference here is that Mr. Borgin was technically never in a scene that played out in the movies. He was cut from the final film and only appears in deleted scenes. So, other than Harry’s floo powder scene, Borgin and Burke’s as a set location is best known for the scenes where Draco and the Death Eaters are using the Vanishing Cabinet. And the fact that the shopkeepers for QQS, F&B, and Scribulus were omitted from the D2C Diagon Alley means there is a precedent for releasing sets without shop owners. I wonder if the random witch and wizard are perhaps intended to be used as shopkeepers for QQS, F&B, or Scribulus? -

Absolutely. Mr. Borgin is not necessarily a minifig that would be featured in a Diagon Alley expansion that included Borgin & Burke’s. I imagine a Borgin & Burke’s set would instead feature Draco Malfoy, Narcissa Malfoy, and maybe Fenrir Grayback. The focus could be on the Vanishing Cabinet scene, which would be a great play feature. I guess we will have to wait and see... -

This is an excellent point. If I’m not mistaken, the Great Hall box art actually featured a prominent silhouette of the Clock Tower. Then the next year when the Clock Tower was released that box art featured a prominent silhouette of the Astronomy Tower. So that’s two instances in the Harry Potter line alone where the box art teased an upcoming release. I don’t think the inclusion of Borgin and Burke’s in the box art of the Accessory Pack is accidental. -

This just further bolstered my hopes for a Diagon Alley expansion. I have a feeling we will all be surprised with the D2C... It’s also worth noting that the background art of the Accessory Pack features Borgin & Burke’s - not Ollivander’s as some assumed or any other Diagon Alley location. Also, there was a leaker late last year (I believe it was @bevinsbricks) who said he had info that we would be getting multiple Diagon Alley sets in late 2021. Gringott’s and another smaller set or two as expansions to the 2020 D2C Diagon Alley. The guy could be totally wrong, but I am not ready to give up hope yet. As has already been noted, the info this year has been confused and confusing and there is a precedent for major surprises in the D2C. Fingers crossed... -

I think that’s a bit much... The LEGO HP team does not need to be shamed. They were given directions by company execs to produce a profitable anniversary line. In the process, the LEGO HP team managed to reinvent the entire Hogwarts lineup in a way that is both nostalgic and collectible, and both playable and displayable. I am incredibly impressed with this new lineup. The LEGO HP team should be proud. What I am not impressed with is the rumored D2C set... I continue to hold out hope that some wires got crossed and we will not be getting a “Hogwarts Icons” set of giant buildable objects, but that a Diagon Alley expansion is on the way. I think it is a bad business move - again, not the fault of the LEGO HP team - to not produce a D2C Gringott’s after the enormous success of the D2C Diagon Alley and build off the momentum of that set. The recent leak of the Diagon Alley Accessory Pack has rekindled some hope in me that we may yet be surprised with a Diagon Alley expansion, but I am doubtful... Has there ever been a big set like this that was a total surprise before? Where the rumored name of the set was wrong and it ended up being something totally different? Or additional sets came out later in the year that we were not anticipating? -

Same. Other than Cormac McClaggen in his Goalkeeper uniform, I actually don’t have any additional Hogwarts quidditch minifigures on my list at all. I have at least one Quidditch uniform from each House now, and if I really wanted more I can BrickLink a bunch and customize them. I would, however, be okay with some new non-Hogwarts Quidditch minifigs - like Krum in his Bulgarian seeker uniform, an Irish player, maybe even a Chudley Cannons player in their iconic orange robes. There are just so many more fascinating characters with interesting designs that we are still waiting for! I really can’t wrap my head around how someone would prefer a pack of four minifigs we already have to a pack of three brand new characters that we may never have seen in sets. -

Agreed. Just took a closer look at the building... that’s not Ollivander’s. It’s Borgin and Burke’s! I wonder what this could mean... -

But... It’s not a character pack. That’s not even a thing. It’s an “Accessory Pack”. And these figures are the perfect accessories to the Diagon Alley set. They aren’t “extras” by the way. They are the very first witch and wizard Harry meets in the Wizarding World and the Minister of Magic himself. In other news - the packaging for the Accessory Pack has just leaked. It definitely looks like Diagon Alley in the background. I think that’s supposed to be Ollivander’s shop. Can’t make out the words to see if the minifig names are confirmed... -

This is exactly what I was thinking. Even had the same idea about the housekeeping witch minifig and the Crookshanks mold suggestion. Spooky. Maybe we are clairvoyant and this is a set currently being designed... This accessory pack would be the perfect way to turn a Leaky Cauldron set from Prisoner of Azkaban to Sorcerer’s Stone. -

One of the biggest complaints about the D2C Diagon Alley was the lack of minifigs - especially of random wizards and witches to populate the set. I wouldn’t say no one cares about these characters. And I don’t think their inclusion in this expansion pack means we won’t be getting a Leaky Cauldron set at some point. In fact, I think this means we are more likely to get a leaky Cauldron set now... I guess we’ll see. -

Yes! I knew it! For the folks who have been on here since last year and remember my musings about the D2C Diagon Alley set, you will understand my joy and excitement at seeing DEDALUS DIGGLE and DORIS CROCKFORD in the new Diagon Alley minifig accessory pack! These were the top two minifigs I was hoping for in the D2C Diagon Alley set. The first witch and wizard Harry meets inside the Leaky Cauldron. These characters and their lines are so random yet so iconic to me when I think of our very first taste of the magic and mystery of the Wizarding World that we first experience in Diagon Alley. The minifigs and the entire accessory pack looks amazing. What a wonderful surprise. And thank God we didn’t get more Quidditch stuff! This little taste of Diagon Alley gives me hope that LEGO may yet surprise us with Gringott’s this year after all... -

A new image of Nearly Headless Nick showing his Glow In The Dark features just leaked. Looks great. I guess it’s not technically a leak since the sets have been revealed. Here it is: https://www.instagram.com/p/COSV0MHpJ6I/?igshid=h5ci5nql702z -

That would make the most sense but the word looks nothing like “Bezoar.” It definitely starts with an “A”. The list of potions ingredients that start with “A” include: Armotentia, Asphodel, Aconite (aka Wolfsbane), Acromantula Venom, and I’m sure there are others but that’s all I can think of. -

You could be on to something. I also agree that the T Rex fossil set could be based on the image of the Velociraptor standing on the T Rex skull in the Visitors Center from the Camp Cretaceous Netflix page. It just wouldn’t make sense to me if LEGO opted to make up random sets again rather than take advantage of the incredibly popular new Jurassic World kids series. They have three seasons of content to work with now. And the whole point of creating a Jurassic kids show is to sell more toys. -

@lego_guyon02 I could kiss you right now. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am going to try to keep my expectations low, but man these set names are promising... Even at $29.99 a possible representation from the climax of Jurassic Park would be amazing. I’m also hype for the Carnotaurus set. Fingers crossed it’s got the Toro paint scheme and a new mold. Can’t wait until we start seeing some leaks! -
