  1. Wow! Lovely shape! I mean, everything about this. Beautiful.
  2. In minifig themes? Hmm. I'm going to say no, until proven wrong.
  3. I have two of those to build! Thanks for reminding me. Reminds me of the old Chima set but with a denser build and more finished look. Stickers! 😡🤜
  4. Corporations aren't going to, like, pay someone to check submissions. It's all done by algorithms and AI. They make some random megablocks decision based on the name and we humans are left to wonder what went wrong. Don't worry, there's not going to be any logic to it. I think you guys have figured it out though: edit and re-submit until approved.
  5. Holy smokes! https://brickset.com/article/90825/2023-speed-champions-new-elements New 1x3 and 1x4 rounded plates with hollow studs! I hope the studs are truly hollow all the way through and not just open. If so, I already have plans for them! Also, the wedged slopes are rad. And of course the new rounded 1x1x2/3 with hollow stud, already known but still worth mentioning.
  6. Nice! I always like those big girder/support pieces used in spaceships. And the usage of trans red in the tail fins here is much more inspired than just slapping on trans red tiles like they did in the official remake. And how cool are those |4| printed racing slopes? Futuron is scared because Invaders 1 through 3 must be around somewhere!
  7. That is freaking cool! NPU everywhere.
  8. Oh I definitely want them to "steal" techniques if it makes Lego sets better. I also hope that Ideas influences what kinds of sets and what aesthetics Lego uses in sets, since I generally like how AFOL MOCs tend to look. And I assume that has happened over the last few years.
  9. Sculpting is superb! Per your usual. Man I really gotta buy a bunch of those gray shield pieces. I have all sorts of ideas for those!
  10. I really like this. The overall shape, the main cockpit shape, the improved SP2 color scheme, and especially the engines. I always thought the SP2 color scheme was messy but I think your color blocking here fixes that. Making black primary and keeping the red as little pops of color really works. And the engines, love how the trans green is used there.
  11. Dang. Really nailed that Masami Obari aesthetic. About as badass as a mecha can look, really.
  12. Inject this into my veins!
  13. I see what you're saying. I'm not a lawyer so I can only guess. So there are two main disagreements here I think. What makes a Lego set obvious/unsurprising vs a set that probably would have only happened due to an Ideas submission. And what should Lego do to make everyone feel better if there is a perception from enough fans that the latter kind of sets are being made often. I can give an example of a something that IMO would definitely qualify as a coincidence: if Lego made a Knight Rider car set. We know 80s cars are popular. Ecto-1, BttF Delorean, Optimus Prime, etc etc. A Knight Rider car would follow in those footsteps and shouldn't surprise anyone. If you submitted that idea to Ideas, well, honestly it wasn't very original anyway (unless it was submitted a long time ago).
  14. I don't really have much of a dog in the ideas plagiarism debate but I think people are really ignoring some simple truths here. One, the agreement you sign when submitting something for ideas is supposed to cover coincidences. It's right in the language of the contract. When Lego releases a set pretty soon after a the same set idea is submitted and rejected, is that really a coincidence? Not just something from the same IP, but the exact same object/location in the same style and scale as the one submitted? If you expected a Snow White Lego set, it would not be even close to what was just leaked. You would expect a set focusing on, you know, Snow freaking White and the Castle. Not the seven dwarves. Not a side location. And you'd expect a set that matches the design of other Disney Princess sets. Something with minidolls. And you know what? They did release that set and it looks nothing like the leaked Dwarves Cottage set. That's a Juniors set. Here's another non-Juniors set related to Disney Princess. You get princess minidolls and a Castle. You know, the standard things you would expect. If someone put a set like that on Ideas, yeah, it would be a coincidence if Lego then made a similar set because those are the kinds of sets Lego typically makes. Focusing on princesses and castles. But just compare the Ideas set to the recent leak. The scale, style, the roof and chimney detailing. It's about as close as any Ideas set is to the original submission. Not a coincidence. Another thing people seem to be missing. Signing away your rights to Lego doesn't mean they can't give you recognition. Maybe you don't get the Ideas prize. Tough luck. But they could say "So and so made this popular and essentially gave us the idea." And another thing people have missed. Most fans who really want this set to happen are Castle/Fantasy fans. Those people couldn't stop talking about this set. They see it as another medieval/fantasy cottage. Nothing about it looks like it's specifically a Snow White, Disney set. But that's not something that you find out until you build the set in that style and put it on Ideas and see who reacts and how. That's an accident. That's info Lego benefits from only because of the Ideas experiment. Lego wouldn't have planned that set without the happy accident of the original submission. So, maybe they don't even release the dwarve's cottage. Or maybe they do and they actually do give some credit to the Ideas submission. I don't know. But the leaked set definitely would never have been planned/considered if it weren't for the original submission.
  15. Unironically, this. Who the heck was clamoring for a Snow White Cottage before the Ideas entry? Nobody in the world, that's who. All the trains and motorcycles they could have made but happened to pick the same models from popular Ideas entries? Probably not a coincidence.
  16. I agree but that doesn't diminish what @Lego David said about Lego stealing Ideas entries.
  17. Just built 60393. A perfect set. Cute truck, cool minifig, cute side build, an animal mold, prints no stickers. Bam. Also built 71780. Nice looking off-road ninja car. Can always use more chunky wheels and red parts. Not a fan of the stickers; esp. since the red doesn't match the red of the plastic. And finally 71784. Bought it because it was cheap and had blue parts, but it's not very nice looking. The windscreen is just silly. Should have been enclosed. Also there are no thrusters to speak of so how does it fly? The rear/underside is unfinished. There are a couple nice printed tiles though! And strangely, it has only two parts (curved slopes) in dark blue, even though the same curved slopes are in the set in regular blue. Weird. Also the "Evo" gimmick is pretty lame. Like, you don't build the full set. Then you do. That's "Evo"? Okay...🤣
  18. Nice color schemes! I always knew yellow & trans blue looked pretty good. But white & trans-neon green? That also looks good! I never knew... Looks nice with the purple as well.
  19. I hope that's true. I haven't given up hope on the Trans-Neon colors. I mean, they had better be coming back! However, if you've ever even mentioned your preference for printed bricks, you will have been swarmed by Lego's self appointed PR spokespeople to assure you that printed bricks are all but impossible due to logistical reasons of "too many boxes". You see, all Lego pieces are in a death match, and if a new piece or new color is created, others must go, lest Lego have to track a few more boxes. So, yeah, I don't know how new colors don't have an opportunity cost. Something else has to go. Unless the Lego clergy has been lying to me... Good point!
  20. Not to harp on the color thing but my mind was just blown. I just built 60393 and 71784. Only after building both did I realize that the yellows are different. I thought both were the "new" vibrant yellow. But one is creamier and looks more like that "glow in the dark" plastic color. But I could only tell them apart because I had both sets next to each other. Like...no. Both colors should not exist. It's madness.
  21. Nice! Those must be prints I see, then. Cool bridge! I forgot to mention the Rocket Mech Armor 76243 set has one printed piece. It looks pretty reusable too. I did not even think to look there! That subforum's description is "All the chit-chat and fun that belongs nowhere else :-)" What you just built definitely seems like it's a general Lego thing. But then again so are some of the threads there. Looks like that subforum is a bit of a ghost town though (like you said).
  22. The box pic makes it look like they're laughing at the guy while going to help his bike. 🤣
  23. Another very recent build for me: the new Boba Fett's Starship 75312. I'm technically supposed to be boycotting Lego Star Wars sets because the recent movies are terrible and SW sets are absolutely the reason for the death of Space themes. But...this set is so good and so cheap. I can't believe how they nailed the shape in such a small set. I was a little put off by the windscreen choice for some reason, but objectively, the visible part of the windscreen does match the shape and size of the ship's windscreen at that scale. So it works. The stickers for the most part can be ignored. However, the sticker for the carbonite piece is unforgivable. That should have been a print or just a molded piece. I feel the same way about the most recent Tie fighter, 75300. It was too good and too cheap to pass up. BTW I got both 75312 and 75300 for like $40 at Target. I think they were just cheaper there, for a long time, not sure why. The head on that goat is great! Better than a print IMO.
  24. I can't believe we don't have a thread for this. Seems like the most important thread you would have on a Lego forum. I didn't find an existing thread. I'm not sure it makes sense to hunt down a specific thread on a specific sub-forum just to talk about recent set builds by theme. Anyway. I just built Rocket Mech Armor 76243. I'm not really into Marvel, but I like mechs, and I like raccoons. The color scheme is cool. I'm sort of on board with the new arm/leg pieces. I'm not totally sold though. It's a big part but it looks okay. It's less poseable than the old mech legs with the knee ball joint, but less fiddly too. I'm curious if the parts line up if you put like 5 or six of them end to end. Do they form a hexagon or something? I'm mainly excited for the new black modified plate with two tow balls. It's not a godsend or anything but I have ideas for it. The new finger pieces are...kindy creepy. They look like spider legs! 😱 I prefer the Exo-force Robot Arm pieces as fingers. Maybe these new fingers will grow on me though. They are slimmer meaning you can fit three of them side by side on this piece. Anyway, the set looks pretty good and I'm not convinced I need knee/elbow joints on something its size. I wonder if click joints for elbows/knees would be a good middle ground between poseability and non-fiddliness.
