  1. Technically the Tower recycles the Quinjet Minifigs (with the exceptions of Hulk and Hawkeye). I think that there may be a difference between making a character that dies at some point, and making a set depicting the scene wherein said character dies.
  2. The original post by @JeanGreyForever is fine, but when @Amanda_Okane quoted it, they added a link to a gambling website at the end.
  3. Either that or the SPACE branding will be used across multiple themes and sets (Icons spaceship, CMF, etc). I am hoping that it is a new City subtheme, though! Right! And Space has gotten more off-brand content than any of the other classic or ‘90’s-‘00’s themes, considering how inherently sci-fi LEGO’s in-house themes are (Friends and City are the only themes not to have gotten mechs, and City is actually getting one next year!). TL;DR, blame Ninjago for the “death” of Space, not Star Wars. For me, Alien Conquest is the only Space theme that I feel exists in a weird grey area; it has aliens and spaceships, but it also takes place entirely on Earth. I would probably categorise it as an action theme (like Power Miners or Atlantis), despite the fact that it is basically SP3 with the roles reversed! I always assumed that there was some kind of force-field on the lower part of their visors (especially since they wore airtanks, so the atmosphere was clearly not breathable!), similar to Classic Space helmets - Is anyone saying that they were on a planet with a breathable atmosphere? Agreed! My personal least favourite “rule” is when people complain that the presence of conflict makes a theme not a “true” Space theme - Ignoring the OG designers’ own comments that the “antennas” and “lights” on classic Space vehicles/ships were absolutely intended to be weapons! Good point; once other sets leak, we will have a better idea of what the banner means long-term. True, but I get the feeling that those were an experiment that did not sell well (based on how discounted they are!); had they sold better, the subsubtheme could have continued as Stuntz did.
  4. People complained that SP3 was not a "true" Space theme??
  5. I was not; all that I did was draw a distinction (that I personally see) between the 2015 sets and the upcoming ones.
  6. You didn't see that coming?
  7. Do you think that this counts as a Space set? The space branding is even bigger than the City logo, since it covers an entire side of the box!
  8. The station uses trans-clear, but the rover seems to have trans-black (though given the image quality, it could be trans-brown); I think that trans-black (if used) could actually look really good, since it has a bluish tint that would accentuate the sand blue parts.
  9. Is this a space set? I am not sure that this is in Earth's solar system, considering the floating rocks in the background, pinkish-purple atmosphere, and large plant in the bottom right corner.
  10. The only "evidence" for that theory is extremely tenuous and has an absurd number of exceptions (e.g. Ninjago and Monkie Kid jets that look like spaceships); more likely LEGO has just put their focus elsewhere (remember that we have not gotten an underwater theme or mining theme since Atlantis and Power Miners retired). We now are getting Space sets, but they (along with Castle and Pirates) are primarily AFOL-targeted nostalgic remakes. No obvious lasers or transparent dishes, but I would not say that the colour-scheme is particularly "realistic"; at least, not any more so than classic themes that used white as their base colour (late Classic Space, Futuron, Exploriens). Some of that, but also that this set is for an exploratory faction (which typically have had white as their main colour; exceptions being SP3 and Galaxy Squad), and because the model was designed in 2023 instead of 1983 or 1993 (so there are more curved parts available to make the rover look sleeker). IMO, it really just needs a trans-orange canopy (though if it is using the new trans-black, that could look cool as well); a Blacktron III Battrax recolour would be awesome, though!
  11. Early 2024 we would know about; my bet would be 2HY 2024. Thought so.
  12. Space Port (a term that I am using broadly to include Town’s Launch Command subtheme, the Space Port theme, and the various pre-2024 City space subthemes) is a fairly realistic depiction of space exploration; most technology is either current or already outdated (See post-2011 space shuttles), though 2019 and 2022 dipped into some speculative near-future designs as well. Space, conversely, is straight up sci-fi; the designs are sometimes inspired by real tech, but the vehicles, ships, bases, etc, are very fanciful and unlike anything that we might have in the near future, if ever.
  13. Did he say whether these sets are the aforementioned BrickHeadz?
  14. 2015 was Space Port; this is Space.
  15. I am not really sure where you are seeing Elon Musk in this; it looks very sleek and futuristic, as the classic themes’ rovers often tried to be with the parts available at the time (the design is similar to SP1’s Spy-Trak I). No more sterile than Futuron, IMO; additionally, M;Tron had tow trucks and a helicopter, so classic Space themes absolutely drew from real-world vehicles. @danth: Thoughts?
  16. I wonder if that banner will be present across multiple themes/sets, since 2024 is supposed to be the “year of Space”? 🤔 It just looks like a plant or flower stem piece attached via a 1x1 round with hole, to me. Mars Mission was my first thought as well! Maybe; I certainly hope so!! Power Miners and Mars Mission both had energy crystals powering their vehicles, and Rock Raiders were mining energy crystals to power the LMS Explorer, so there is precedent. It looks more like the new trans-black than trans-clear to me; I hope that it is, since trans-black has a bit of a bluish tint that makes it look less boring than trans-clear, trans-brown, or trans-light blue. Agreed; I wonder if this is as big as this species gets, or if we will get adult versions as well (maybe using something like Ursula’s lower body piece?).
  17. I wonder if LEGO made the hair dark orange to match with the pith helmet piece that we all use for Pippin Reed updates? 🤔
  18. I really like this; it looks far more like something from Mars Mission than anything that we have gotten from City before! The astronaut in the background obviously has the torso and legs that leaked with the alien heads, but the driver might have a different design (dark blue instead of bright green). 🤔
  19. That is not a new colour or print, BTW.
  20. I think that they will at some point soon (via the Icons Moments subtheme), considering that they know how popular the theme is with AFOLs. Do people really want some big 18+ extra detailed Castle or Space or Pirates set? (Yes, the answer is yes! Very much so!) I think that a Sphinx Secret Surprise remake (with a few extra vehicles) would be the perfect choice for an Icons Adventurers set!
  21. I am hesitant to expect Emma Frost to be included, since most of her costumes are NSFW! That said, her ‘97 series appearance is as revealing as Wonder Woman’s costumes, so I suppose that version would be OK. I am not convinced of Deadpool, but this is also LEGO’s only opportunity to make him; I would say 50/50 on him. Mr. Sinister, however, is quite unlikely. I am expecting the set to include core ‘97 and movie characters, along with a few popular minor characters; Mr. Sinister is neither, and he has a greater chance than some others of being included in a future ‘97 set. IMO, supporting characters are more likely to show up in the Mansion than they are in future sets, since LEGO tends to focus on the most popular/well-known characters in regular sets.
  22. IMO, including characters who have appeared in the MCU like Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver would be a waste of Minifig slots; I would much prefer that we get characters who have not appeared in LEGO form yet and that are unlikely to show up in other sets. Scarlet Witch already has gotten a few sets, and Quicksilver is an easy addition to an AoU set. Ah, OK - Good call on Psylocke; she would be an excellent addition, she has a ‘97/Jim Lee design, and we have a transparent pink katana piece thanks to MABS and Ninjago Crystalized! My guesses for the Mansion, in light of the known characters in the X-Jet and number of Minifigs in Avengers Tower: Professor X (reused pieces), Cyclops (reuse), Wolverine (reuse), Beast (lab coat, reused CMF head and hair), Storm (CMF reuse, but with long hair), Jean, Gambit, Jubilee, Colossus (Na’vi torso and legs), Psylocke (maybe), Kitty Pryde (maybe), Bishop (maybe), Magneto (reuse), Mystique, Sabertooth, Deadpool. A Juggernaut bigfig would be great, but I am not counting on it; also, I am expecting Rogue to stay exclusive to the X-Jet in order to provide incentive to buy it. This would be 16-17 characters at most (between the Sanctum and the Tower, which is where I expect the set to fall), with six being partial or complete reuses.
  23. Deadpool as a bonus figure would draw more attention to him, though; just integrating him into the lineup like Daredevil, Punisher, and Blade were in the Bugle seems more likely. True, but what else would it be based on? The ‘97 designs are taken directly from the comics, and none of the movies have particularly good designs (especially in LEGO form!).
