I would love a castle section based on PoA! They could fit in a structure like the bell towers but made of the new modular system: Lupin’s office, Divination room, DADA classroom with candles, megaphone, the dragon skeleton and Mirror wardrobe, add the dark tower as side build? I recognise there would be a lot of repeats of existing figures however. -
[REVIEW] Fun with 2021 Modular Hogwarts
Bugbot20082 replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Great reviews! Thanks for posting this in-depth analysis it was fun to read. I’m looking forward to what you can come up with when you get hold of the flying lesson set. Can you try and make an approximation of the Bell Towers? Use the great hall as a base, then remove the end roof parts and use Lockheart’s office and the balcony room as towers, then finish off with the green cone tops.- 11 replies

Harry Potter 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

The AC is interesting, loads of new prints and two chocolate frog cards! I’m pleased also that we don’t have the token ‘presents’ build like every one before. I think this set will sell better than the 2020 AC also because of the superior packaging, you have lots more characters on the box and the artwork is more exciting and fills the space better. How many new and exclusive prints are there here?: Privet Drive signpost, Leaky Cauldron sign, train platform sign, cake top, train ticket, new torso shared between 3 figures, spinner top. That must be a new record! I also expect that lamp on the bank desk is glow in-the-dark -

The wolf Minifigure tail in brown is available from bricks & pieces right now, would it fit on the Cat-Hermione figure? I wonder if it would clash with the hairpiece or be too long for the shorts legs the other way up... -

Mr Borgin is a very odd choice, it would have made sense as said above to save him for a set of his shop. And the other two characters are nameless? It would have suited everyone better I think I’d it was Mundungus Fletcher instead in this pack, as he would be at home in DA and doesn’t fit well in any other potential set (imo), and not worthy of CMF. He is easy to create ourselves actually with either Wormtail’s or the ollivander torso and a simple head with stubble such as 6033436 :) The pack is still great and I’m going to get at least 2 to populate Hogsmeade etc more owls always welcome -

I love this idea too!, the station to go with the Hogsmeade set would make a lot of sense; it differentiates it more from the 2018 version and makes it an add-on to the 2021 line. It could also include Zonko’s joke shop which was missing from the Hogsmeade set. -

Something else which we aught to consider I think is the business sense of the set; the contents of a big expensive set like UCSs and D2Cs are always massive builds (Hogwarts castle, big StarWars ships) or big collections of builds (UCS Hoth base) which are supposed to work better (and therefore more sellable) together than they would be if the same contents were sold separately. The complete set needs to be worthy of the large price and status not just by sheer brick count... the complete ‘set’ needs to be grander than the sum of its parts I mean. One long street block of ‘Diagon Alley shops’ is much more impressive and marketable than the 4 modules would be if sold separately I think. It’s going to occupy a page or even the front cover of the magazine, and be on display in LEGO store front windows, I needs to have ‘wow’ factor.. This principal for me makes it unlikely that the D2C set is a collection of assorted but otherwise unconnected brick-built Wizarding world merchandise: otherwise why not sell such items separately like the MBoM and Hedwig etc. A new Harry Potter artefact every season as a give away would be better for sales I think. So I’m leaning on the idea that the ‘icons’ is a tag like ‘moments’ and the set is something minifigure scale (I hope), bank & shops, pirate ship, game pitch, a Hogwarts expansion, motorised train etc That being said this year has been full of surprises and my analytical way of thinking has been of little help with this new line so who knows... -

I’m hoping for a wave of ‘moments’ sets of the common rooms. I think it would suit the format well: various furniture, lots for sticker details, the entrances like the fat lady portrait being on a fold-out wall etc. Sirius’s face would be a great inclusion too! -

For those who may be interested, Fudge’s head (& hat) and the body of Amelia Earhart are available to purchase on Bricks & pieces now (UK), Great for customs! (You could make a Fudge out of Rufus from the pack for the Hogsmeade set, and I’m going to use Amelia’s body for Grubbly Plank! -

Im warming up to the pack the more I think about it. The figures have a variety of good parts for making custom figures with the 2nd purchase. I can see myself adding beards and swapping hats/hair to make random Hogsmeade inhabitants, knight but passengers etc. The brown Owl seals the deal for me. I personally had Rufus penned in for a future CMF series, coming with a printed tile of the will, but this is fine for now. I’m expecting a ‘Diagon alley’ shopping list to be one of the exclusive prints in the AC, since we have had an exclusive 2x3 printed tile in the past 2 so far. -

My firsts thoughts were ‘looks great!...What is it?’ I don’t have DA as I don’t have the space, but I do have the knight bus and these would be great passengers to fill it up with -

The Devil's Snare is worse than the original from a decade ago, it could have been in a room the same footprint as the floor above I think, and include a more dynamic ‘trap’ mechanism. At least the set is not expensive, it feels like a much bigger set than Grawp and in the UK at least is about the same price I plan to modify it with the dark vines from the stranger things house and add a light-brick feature to represent Hermione’s spell! On a plus though I like the harp build, I was expecting a new mould but they managed to pull it off with existing parts in a creative way -

There are too many comments to go through right now so I’ll just post this quick as it just happened: I sent Marcos Bessa some compliments on his work and he replied to one of my questions so I’ll share it here: Me: Did you want to include a tail for Hermione? What was the reason for not including one? Marcos: About the tail, the space in the toilet cabin was very small and the tail would make it impossible for her to fit in... it also simplifies the transformation for kids to play it out by simply swapping heads/wigs... Please guys don’t spam his inbox for further questions 😅 -

Ah this is a nice question, and I have thought about it for my wish/speculation list. The version I would most want to see of the trio in the next CMF is from DH1 when the Minister of Magic reads Dumbledore’s will and hands out their items: The outfits are useful for customs and are not exactly the same to a potential Wedding set but more importantly the accessories they could have would give us a lot of the items involved in the story of that movie, and the other bonus is that they don’t need new moulds so the rest of the figures of the series would be better overall for that too: The Deluminator for Ron (the duel-moulded friends pen in silver etc would be ideal). https://images.app.goo.gl/DjCmyg6bEvwzBucq8 The Story book for Hermione (new prints front cover and internal page with the DH symbol next to the text). They could also give her her magical bead bag. The snitch again for Harry. They could also give him the broken piece of mirror from DH2 (just a printed triangle tile will do). In the same CMF Rufus Scrimgeour could also take up a slot with a suitcase and the will itself as a printed tile. I think collecting these 4 figures together would be a fun addition to the Burrow set. My nightmare trio would be Herbology versions: tolerable only if they all came with something other than Mandrakes: books or a new Venomous Tentacula plant mould and pot with an internal stud to secure things to. -

Moulds wise I think we have an amazing collection now from the reboot: I love the new wands, candles and small flame, lantern, Sword of Gryffindor, Snitch, Buckbeak, Fawkes and Nagini, Thestral and the centaur body, and we even got a moulded Sorting Hat which I personally did not think was necessary. There are several new moulds I would like to see get done to make a specific character ‘right’ such as new wigs for Rita, Narcissa, and a mop of Dreadlocks for Lee Jordan... But for the general ‘Harry Potter universe’ I really want to have: Fang the dog Padfoot (Sirius Black as a dog) Slughorn’s Hourglass Ravenclaw’s Diadem Small pointy hat/hair combo (Arthur, Percy Weasley) I wouldn’t mind a specific mould for the Nimbus 2000/ Firebolt if they had budget left over to spend -

This. The existing cat shape is fine for McGonagall but I do not see Crookshanks when I look at the official one. Dogs have got so many new moulds for different breeds but cats only have 2(?) in use right now -

Bugbot20082 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
It seems to be the trend... series 21 had at least 1 new mould for each figure except for 3, and those 3 have either large, high value parts (dolphin and centaur body), or at least a lot of parts (10 total for the space police man). Granted looking back series 20 was very good by the same measure too :/ Looney toons has I count 14 new moulds across the figures, most with elaborate printing/duel moulding like the Simpson’s heads but most have a lot more accessories compared to that line and past similar figures from the un-licensed even if they are just bricks in existing colours. Taz has 3 things and even a tail by the looks of it (compare that to chip & dale) we got 3 bits of cheese with Speedy (they could easily just have done 1), Road Runner has a bowl of food even though he can’t hold it (compare that to the similar chicken suit guy from series 9) and look at the number of parts going into the other side builds (mallet, anvil etc). Side note I’m so glad they didn’t made a new anvil mould that would have been annoying 😅 -

So with Looney Toons revealed as a 12 figure line up it confirms then that even licensed CMFs will go with the new reduced amount. I’m disappointed with that but can live with it if it means more parts for each character and increased budget for new mould’s etc for each series overall. I’ll expect 12 figures then for Disney series 3 and HP series 3. Going by the table of characters I made a while back I Hope it means that there will be no more compulsory Neville, Luna and Dumbledore slots https://flic.kr/p/2konoQL -

It would be awesome if the chess pieces were made from Minifigure parts. I guess if they were unpainted then that maybe more achievable budget wise. From my maths I get about 16 parts max for each one on average. If they each have a round 4x4 base made from 6 parts (2 round plates and 4 cut corner bricks) then that leaves only 12 parts for the figures themselves, not a lot for the complex shape of the horses and all the shields, helmets swards I really wish the bishops use Bo Peeps crook!
