LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion
Portal Out replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Metal Gear would also be my personal dream Lego IP (I’ve got a Metal Gear Rex MOC sitting on my shelf as I write this). Kojima even used Lego to model out the levels for MGS 1 and 2 and there’s a ton of vehicles and scenes that would make cool 18+ display sets. The only thing is that Metal Gear definitely falls under the umbrella of modern military stuff, which seems to be one of the only lines Lego won’t cross these days. -

Somewhat of a weird choice to kick off this theme but I’m all for it and I look forward to seeing how the set comes out. Also, if we don’t get an Aloy minifigure we riot, agreed? -
LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion

Wow, I can’t believe this set is actually real. We’ve known about it for over two years at this point and I think everyone assumed it got canned. Honestly this is like finding out Bigfoot is real or something. But between all the Activision Blizzard stuff and the fact the Overwatch is even less popular than when they did sets last time, I’d be shocked if this wasn’t on the clearance shelf by spring. -
Do you guys think a Mario Movie tie-in CMF series could be on the tables for next year? I haven't been following the recent CMF rumors, but isn't it usually around this time that we start learning what they're gonna be?
-
Yeah, a buildable Mario Kart that you can stick the Mario Digifig in seems like a no-brainer, I don't know how they haven't done that yet. And if they wanted to do something Sunshine related, they could probably reuse that new Luigi Overalls piece with the extra button on it for F.L.U.D.D. That Luigi's mansion subtheme has honestly gotten me interested in this theme again for the first time in a while and has opened so many doors for sets based on specific games (which I really hope is the direction they take this theme if they keep the course building system).

Promobricks released the set numbers for the summer wave today, looks like we’ll be getting six of them.

Lego has worked with both companies before, it's far from impossible. -
LEGO Videogame Tie-Ins - Rumors & Discussion

There are rumblings again about Lego Overwatch coming back (possibly as soon as November). I feel like rumors of a reboot of the theme come back every six months or so, and that one list of sets that got canceled back in 2020 always seem to resurface. However, with Lego Games confirmed to be a new theme coming in the not too distant future and Overwatch 2 launching for the e-sports in April, the odds of a comeback are definitely higher than they have been in the past. But what do you guys think? It's hard for me to get too excited for anything Activision/Blizzard related these days and I'd feel pretty bad supporting them, but a revival of this theme would definitely be an interesting surprise (even if it's still pretty unlikely despite all the mounting evidence). This might just be the fan in me talking, but a revival of the Overwatch theme could also pave the way for a revival of some of the other shelved gaming themes from over the years like Portal 2 or Midway Arcade. -
Ok real talk.. is there something up with Mario minifigures? Like it's been a discussion point since day one, and here we are a year later and we're no closer to getting them. Some stipulation with Nintendo on the license perhaps? Maybe they wanted them to debut in a cmf series first, but Lego had already filled up all the 2020-21 spots? Maybe it took them an extra year and a half to decided whether or not Mario should get a printed nose?

Yep, I got my expectations to high. I mean it's pretty good, just not $170 good. At the very least, I'm happy that we're finally getting peach in some capacity and that it's themed after a specific game and not just generic Mario. I'm definitely excited to see it in more detail tomorrow and hopeful that there's even more that it's hiding. Unfortunately though, minifigures probably would've been the deal breaker for me in buying or passing on this one.

I thought the same thing when I saw this At this point, I’m not even totally convinced that Peach’s castle exists anymore. Two rumored release dates have come and gone, none of the credible leakers can seem to nail down whether it’s micro scale or not, we only have an approximate piece count, and now there’s confirmation that there will be a different white listened micro scale castle on the market during the same timeframe. At the very least, a Mickey minifigure being included probably raises the likelihood of us getting mini figs with Peach’s Castle if it does end up being real. Hopefully? Please?

The Tumbler, a November 1st D2C release, just got officially revealed. If we're getting Peach's Castle this year, we're probably a few weeks away or less from a reveal. Also, has anybody else been noticing that Lego has been doing a much better job at keeping the series 3 blind bags stocked? I totally missed out on most of series 2 because they disappeared from all my local stores real quick, while I'm seeing series 3 basically everywhere.

So exciting! I know this probably won’t happen, but I really hope they use something different than the black 18+ boxes for this set. That would be a really bad fit.

Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
Portal Out replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
If I remember correctly, they were pretty standard in around 2012-2013 in both Marvel and DC. After that, they disappeared for a few waves, then they started appearing again, but only in the back of the manuals I think? -

I know that this line has been overused to heck and back, but Avatar and Lego are seriously the perfect fit. I can’t think of another IP that has as much appeal to both kids and adults, it’s massively popular, and totally aligns with the values of the Lego brand (not like that’s terribly important anymore though). I’m super interested why they haven’t approved any of the Avatar projects yet. I can only imagine that a rival has the Nickelodeon license or something, they had to have at least tried. -
Yeah, since I was dead certain it was an August release initially, that “any day now” feeling has just been prolonged. There’s barely news to discuss, but I constantly find myself coming back here just to make pointless speculation lol
-
First September D2C got an official reveal today, could Peach's castle could possibly be next? D2Cs releasing in the same month usually all get revealed around the same time, so we could be pretty close if the castle is in fact a September release.
-
Haha thanks!

A little over a week ago, I was dead certain that we were going to get either a leak or an official reveal within a few days. Clearly I was wrong, and as of now we're all still pretty much in the dark. It's looking like a September release date is going to be more likely, but even that's speculation. The only concrete information we have right now is that the 1x2 masonry bricks in white are now in circulation, which MIGHT hint that the set is MAYBE in production? Even that could be reaching though, someone feel free to jump in if I got anything wrong.

If I had a nickel for every time Lego used the wrong color on Vision’s stone, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice. -

Oh man, I hope not. That would look really weird, but you very well could be right. -

Really satisfied with the white vision fig, but I hope he comes with a good accessory. The fig alone seems a bit light for $5, even if the printing is real high quality. Not sure what the accessory could even be though. The guy just sort of showed up right at the end and didn’t do a whole lot outside of his fight with regular vision. Not exactly a ton to work with. -

Yeah, you raise an interesting point. It would make sense if a license holder wanted their characters represented in a certain way (.ie. they don’t want their heroes scowling or making angry faces), but the fact that this is Lego-wide is what’s weird. Maybe kids don’t like their characters looking angry? I’m sure there’s gotta be some focus group shenanigans going on. also someone stop us if we’re getting too off topic -

Yeah, out of place smiling expressions have been happening so much recently that I’m starting to wonder if there’s something going on behind the scenes. Usually anytime there’s some weird creative choice that’s consistently made by Lego, it’s because there’s some weird policy the designers have to follow. I wonder if that’s the case here too. -
Hey, September is not so bad. You're probably right though. I totally forgot about that queer eye set.
