Ideas for new Lego themes! (Non-licensed)
zeeverse replied to The lego fan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Oh that's the new one, the brontosaurus type build. The 2025 Dreamzzz sets had some good parts sets in there for me, but 2026 isn't looking too good so far. Plus the minifigures of 2025 Dream zzzwere very interesting. Last year, I was getting good deals on older Dreamzzz and Vidiyo sets, which had some great parts options and some really useful minifigures. -

which dinosaur? There are two releases now, as I recall in Dreamzzz I did buy several of the 2025 Matteo and Zblob set. The parts in that were extremely useful, plus I haven't seen Lego release a set with that many builds in quite a long time. So, I am now converting my Matteos for more Space Oriented Stuff. I'm going to have a few of his weird dreams faces in my pile of Minifigure Heads, that is for certain! haha -

It'd be nice to have something, Agents, Aquaforce, Xtreme Team, but....nooooo.... I wonder how long Dreamzzz will really last? I think you can only sustain a story-verse like that for only so long. Ninjago has seemingly become Lego's Crutch. They seem to throw everything into Ninjago including the Mars Mission/Galaxy Squad crazy designs. I'm just not one for Ninjas. They have too much gold in the sets and I am not a fan of gold generally speaking. And their sets are hard to use for parts more lately. Every new year with lego, it seems like I lose more parts sets opportunities due to the broader color palette. -

In my nation, those that govern the literary works have strict guidelines on what defines modern literary genres of Hard Science Fiction, Science Fiction and Scifi. There is no F in my nation. This forum topic is to allow me to state my opinion on what new themes I'd like to see from Lego. Since stating them, I have entertained a barrage of negativity towards my personal opinion from multiple posters. I've maintained my candor and I still am. But at this point, I would like to make something clear. No one will change my mind. No one can win an argument against me. The best one can hope for is a stalemate. Let's leave it at that, please. There's plenty of other things to discuss and post about on Eurobricks than this one topic. -

I've been a fan of scifi for over 30 years. I'm a STEM graduate, and I know the genre pretty well. Where I live our Lego show has a very large Galaxy Squad display, and there's a waiting list for Galaxy Squad sets in the local used Lego store. There's an even longer waiting list for Space Police III sets at the same store. I've never seen a Mars Mission Set at the used Lego store. So, how does that mean that these themes are bad? Because per my experience, flops sit on used store shelves and there's plenty of Creator, City, Town, Technic and a constant Turnover of Star Wars, but plenty of it in the store at all times.... But you won't find any Space Police III, Galaxy Squad, Mars Mission and even lots of Alien Conquest sitting in that store. I'm old enough to be a Classic Space Fan when it was on the store shelves brand new. So, I saw all of those above mentioned releases in the stores and those shelves were never full. It's just that back then, I was into Technic and Bionicle (the first five years or so). Now, we may live in two different nations so there could be different societal norms as to what are active things. But where I live, anything Lego Space up to Galaxy Squad is hot stuff... Even the older City Space is good and warm, but never hot. -

I'm on Bricklink, Brickset and Rebrickable (but that one is getting questionable) So I have seen them all. I've been doing the Lego hobby for 26 years now. haha! FWIW, I am a little league Lego Fan. I own only 785 sets, and Rebrickable says I have just over 106,000 parts, but that doesn't count my bulk lego which is right at 80lbs. I have seen all of them, and I do not like any of them. Here's why: I was insulted that the 2024 City Space theme was treating alien life as "everything in the universe is dumber than us". For the City Space Lunar Release: I prefer clear or brown transparent windscreens in my world which is why I passed on the City Space Lunar Release. All the windows were that horrid aqua blue tint. I have no idea why they did that, but it was a message to me to skip this one, please, which I did. The Lego City Mars Mission release, I did buy the starter set and the people pack for the minifigures. Everything else did not connect with me as a pseudo realistic City Space theme since there were no active shuttle programs when it released which kind of left me scratching my head. The rover just looked....like something I was not going to buy. I did buy Mr Oz's Space car for the parts and Mr Oz, who I intend to change for my home space build. -

Also Respectfully, I've been a fan of Science Fiction, and Scifi my whole life, and I am old enough to be a fan of classic space when it was brand new. To call the 2024 releases as scifi is a very long stretch. Thanks for not wanting to rehash this, because I can counter equally every point you try to make. So, we will agree to disagree and that's fine. I still got my say on this subject and no one can prove me wrong yet. That's fair enough to me. Hopefully, I'll run into you on a subject that we are not on opposing sides. -

I contend that most Star Wars Fans would probably not be Lego Space Fans, and I have seen plenty of Lego Space Fans say they are not interested in Star Wars. So... I'm not sure "which" Lego Fan Faber is referring to, to be quite honest. -

Right and Galaxy Squad is HORRIBLE for humanity! I mean look at it! It's obviously a ploy to lure people into being entomologists, or pest control specialists, or the wife's bug crushing hero. ---Oh how humanity will suffer from this horrible theme! -

You are taking what I said out of context: I refer to Lego City Space as Lego City Space. I refer to Galaxy Squad, Space Police, Mars Mission, and Alien Conquest as Scifi Space. Those are not the same terms and as such, all you are stating your post is what I think Lego City Space should be. And as such Scifi Space should be a separate thing, which is always how I have viewed and also how I presented it in my original post. But since you are starting us down this road: Whether one wishes to hope for peace, or make plans to defend, in a Universe full of unknowns, neither position should be disregarded, or downplayed, until the Human Race has verified everything in the known universe--and that is going to take an unbelievably long time. -
I can respect your position on that. I suppose what really annoys me about the "swappable" vehicle/mech parts is using those very thin clips to support the whole connection of the system. WIth my experience and Lego, that's something that will probably need regular replacement to maintain the model over the years. But to be honest, I do mostly MOCs now, so the modular system is not something I will have to rely on in a build, for vehicles and mechs. And I do buy most sets for parts, but as someone experienced in engineering, I am concerned that it may misinform young builders that may go on to do STEM that those types of connections are suitable for real world design, when they are absolutely not. I dunno... Time will tell, I suppose?

What loads of scifi that had solid themes on par with Space Police, Galaxy Squad, Alien Conquest, or Mars Mission...cause I perused all through the 2024-2025 stuff...and I didn't see anything close to that? Where was it? Where were the battle tanks like Mars Mission, and Galaxy Squad? Where were the huge aliens like Galaxy Squad? Where were the bad guys with their cool bad spaceships like Mars Mission and Space Police III? Where were the big guns and or energy cannons like Space Police, and Galaxy Squad? Where were the aliens with their own weapons, like Space Police III and Galaxy Squad? Do you have the set numbers for the modern versions of the above mentioned things in the 2024-2025 release? Because what I described up above is what scifi has been for over 30 years. A flop? Where I live our Lego show has a very large Galaxy Squad display, and there's a waiting list for sets in the local used Lego store. There's an even longer waiting list for Space Police III sets at the same store. I've never seen a Mars Mission Set at the used Lego store. So, how does that mean that these themes are flops? Because per my experience, flops sit on used store shelves and there's plenty of Creator, City, Town, Technic and a constant Turnover of Star Wars, but plenty of it in the store at all times.... But you won't find any Space Police III, Galaxy Squad, Mars Mission and even lots of Alien Conquest sitting in that store. So, per what I see, there isn't any flops there... I don't know what happened 10 years ago, but I ain't buying what I hear online at all. I'm old enough to be a Classic Space Fan when it was on the store shelves brand new. So, I saw all of those above mentioned releases in the stores and those shelves were never full. It's just that back then, I was into Technic and Bionicle (the first five years or so). I'd really like to see Lego release a new Space Scifi theme to alternate with the Lego City Space so us space fans don't have to wait years for another release. They could totally reboot Galaxy Squad, and Space Police, or something new in scifi. and when I say Space Scifi I mean: Cool Heros in cool armors with cool weapons, Cool villains with cool weapons, and both sides having tought spaceshipes, mechs, ground vehicles that all follow ridiculous, but really cool unorthodox design ideas. You know, vehicles that make a 10 year old go: WOW! We haven't had a Lego Space Scifi release since 2013. Why not? Why do the Space Fans have to wait years for another release? Lego doesn't skip years with Ninjago, or Monkey Kid, or Hidden Side or Dreamzzz. So.......why can't Lego do that with a Space Scifi Theme??? -
For me, I am not really impressed with this new modular build trend being implemented. I think it might be okay for buildings, but I bought Lego Dreamzzz Set 71497 for parts, but I always build the model out of respect for the designer, and they used modular building on the mech and the vehicle. I have training in engineering, and that is not how vehicles are designed, or built, so I don't see the merit in the use of modular building in anything but buildings and maybe streets. For mechs, Hero Factory, Bionicle, and Lego's Racheted Joint system is already modular, and much closer to how one could treat a mech as a modular build. But to me, a modular component means a functional group of different units connected together, and that is not what a mech is at all. The components can be thought of as modules, but they don't perform any useful function until the entire system is built. I dunno, call me crazy, but I think modular for buildings is great, for vehicles and mechs, it makes zero sense to me.

Am the only guy here with limited fictional media taste?
zeeverse replied to StudWorks's topic in Culture & Multimedia
My reading Interests are very specific. I tend to read Hard Science Fiction, and Science Fiction, but I don't care for Scifi in the written form). However, I don't mind anime Scifi at all. The last decent US Scifi that I thought was okay was Farscape. When I was young, I used to read some supehero comics, etc, but in the 6th grade a small group of us was allowed to read JRR Tolkien's The Hobbit. In 7th Grade, we were allowed to read The Lord of the Rings. I would later buy the Simarrillion and other books of his. I tried to read fantasy after that, but nothing pulled at me hard like Tolkien's Work. Other than that, I read Textbooks and Journal Articles and that's about it.- 5 replies

Post about Cartoons and Anime you like
zeeverse replied to Peppermint_M's topic in Culture & Multimedia
To date, I own over 300 anime titles on DVD. A mix of series, shorts, and OAVs. They are all great, but if I had to list some standouts, they would be: Macross (anything Macross) Escaflowne Scrapped Princess Full Metal Panic Brain Powerd Zoids NC/0, Chaotic Century, Fuzors, and Genesis (Zoids are my other hobby besides Lego). Bubblegum Crisis (both releases) -

Hello, I started an account here a good while ago and mostly lurked. And I have no memories of how to use the site, so I am back to testing things out again. Okay, figured the image part out, again. -
Hello Fellow Lego Fans. Recently I designed a unique MOC, a classic Lego Street Sweeper that has modern features, but still give homage to the classic Lego Street Sweeper Sets including the 6645, 6649 and 7242. I researched each set, and noticed that their availability was becoming lower. So, I thought it might not be a bad idea to do an updated Street Sweeper version for Town and City builders as a possible release. Having to consider modern design aspects, I did try to "build-into" the MOC an easy conversion of the model for those wanting a more "true" town look. Likewise, in a Vintage City Theme, some design elements might not be correct for the time period. So, this design affords the ability of each interested parties to have the ability to "remove" far more than they might need to "add" to the design to make it fit their layouts. I would not consider this idea a "universal" approach as much as an "adaptable" approach. Following all of these considerations, features, and potential applications of the MOC as a kit, I also had to find a unique design that was believable, kept the parts count under control, and served as a believable "next generation" version to Set 7242. A new feature in this MOC is the use of the Lego 2441 vehicle base, which saved parts, fits modern design efforts and shows that with creativity large scale designs can be implemented on the 2441 chassis. It was an interesting challenge to try and incorporate all of these aspects into the design and still make it visually appealing. Currently, my MOC can be found here on Lego Ideas: https://ideas.lego.com/content/project/link/678e85c3-5563-4062-8537-ac26c4761d8e Thanks for allowing me to post. And if any one here likes it, I'll hope they'll drop by Lego Ideas and give it a vote. Happy Building! --Zeeverse

Hi, I am new so I am not sure who to ask. I searched the LDraw Topic Thread of files (which was amazing!). I noticed that Lego Kit 7242 (Lego City Street Sweeper 2005 release) was not showing up in the index, or searches. So, I am a Linux user, and run LeoCAD, I am eventually getting around to trying LDCad, but one hurdle at a time. So, I made an LDR file of the 7242 using LeoCAD. I did some quick screenshots below. Who do I ask about where to and how to submit to the KEY topic area? I don't want to interrupt the threading with a silly post, so I thought I would ask here. Any help would be appreciated. Here's the model as show in LDraw. Any help would be appreciated. Zeeverse

Thanks for the welcomes. I didn't want to say too much or too little. I use LeoCAD, and I noticed you guys have an amazing file selection. I was wanting to build the 7242 off of BL, and figured I would make a 3D file. I also noticed that it doesn't seem to show up in the ldr section. So...who would I talk with about contributing the forum and building the 7242 in my LeoCAD and generating an ldr for the site? Or am I not finding the 7242 because my searches are off? Has anyone done an ldr for the 7242?

Hi Everyone! So, a little about me? I'll be 50 in a few months. I finally bought fully into Lego again with the Technic 8290. I own three to this day. Love that design and that kit. Made my first Bricklink order around 2008. Made my last order last week. I'm a Lego VIP (yahoo!) Favorite Lego Technic Sets: 8263 Technic Snow Groomer any Technic small scale construction set (I own them all in studless since the 8290 including tracking down an 8270 before the prices skyrocketed), and the 8047 because the B model fits the small scale theme 42008 Service Truck 42035 B Model (which set my sights on the 42069) 42069 Extreme Adventure (saving this build for maximum enjoyment!) 42077 Rally Car (I like it, but I don't think I can leave it alone....bricklink is my friend) In Lego system 1, I buy sporadically, sometimes for the design, and many times for MOC parts. Favorite Lego System 1 Theme is 2014 Arctic. Love most of the kits, and own them except the ship and the airplane. Have plans for the Arctic Theme down the road. Bought all of the 2018 Arctic Release to incorporate parts into the 2014 version. Lego Themes I wish I had all of: Tiny Turbos. Could not afford all of what I was buying at the time. One of the Lego Space Themes....it's hard to pick as there are so many good things about each release. Things I plan to change in my Lego experiences: I am going to be buying, or building, a few Town vehicles--maybe as a reimagined MOC. Some of those later town kits are so nostalgic that I can't decide to keep it real or reimagine them in my moc-style. Creator: Parts house. Hero Factory/Bionicle: mostly Hero Factory. Might be the first theme I will complete. Busy busy bee here!
