  1. Gorgeous ship! Nice work. I've never used LDD/Stud.io before - can it do cloth sails?
  2. Agreed! The clamp and technic bricks work really well here
  3. Posted some BTS build process shots above. Like many of my other builds, this one started with Duplos underneath to fill space! Thanks! Yes, I wanted to incorporate that beach feedback into this build. I think the SNOT tan wall helps a lot! Thanks! The landscape was pretty much done before I really started thinking about the fort. I tried to make the fort buildings have plenty of fancy ornaments. Once I had built the main building I didn't want to build the fort walls too high because it blocked the view of the building! I built the building in one big push and by the time I was done it was 3am. You can see how the amount of ornamentation drops off the farther you go up the building as I got more tired - we can say that's because the Corlanders didnt want to have to break out the ladders to keep it clean. Because I was tired I didn't end up capping the roof sides with light bley tiles as I had intended, but I guess the little round studs add more ornamentation to the top! Thanks! Like I was telling Bodi, I stayed away from tall thick castle-like walls like @CapOnBOBS's builds so that you could still see the building. Less of a fortress, more of a fort. This made it look more like some of the sprawling forts I saw as a kid in Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia in the USA. Thanks!
  4. Fort Stockton, a large fort, evancelt
  5. Task 11: Strategic Outposts 3: Fort Stockton, Wullham
  6. With the growing importance of Wullham as the "Breadbasket of Corrington" becoming apparent, the Headquarters of the Corlander Armed Forces thought it wise to build defenses in the settlement. Named for a war hero from generations past (who happened to be the great-grandfather of Elsabeth Stockton), sprawling Fort Stockton guards Wullham Bay with 16 large shore batteries. The fort also houses barracks for a large contingent of infantry. Built for GoC Strategic Outposts, to be licensed by Corrington as a Large Fort in Wullham Some BTS shots:
  7. The 2x2 rounds on the front do a good job looking like massive logs. Great SNOT work on the entryway, nice ground texture too
  8. Fabulous work, @CapOnBOBS! The cannon shot and sloped walls are really stellar in particular
  9. @Kai NRG has a great breakdown of how she sorts her Minifigs in her new Brick Nerd post: https://bricknerd.com/home/sorting-series-peanut-butter-lovers-edition-2-16-2021
  10. Thanks for sharing! They look awesome
  11. Hi @Dutch Thriceman - I caved and set up a Flickr account! You can check it out here. Thanks
  12. Looking good, Ayrlego! Welcome to Wullham! Glad to see this one get posted up. Great job on the wedge-plate thatched roof. Looks like they found some especially lavender-y rock to build their house from - it's pretty! I haven't had much luck tracking down lavender quarter round or 1x1 tiles - cool to see those in the build. I love the surface roughness created by the upside down green round plates. I think I will use that on my next green-heavy build
  13. Nice job reworking the story!
  14. Looking good, @Brickwolf! This house has all of the hallmarks of a Wullham build (some lavender, thatch or slate roof, blocky roofline)! They have quite a flower garden. Glad to see this one posted up If I'm not mistaken, I think this build bumps Wullham up from a hamlet to the next size town!
  15. Looks cold! The dangling wisps of the sail are super cool.
  16. Gorgeous stained glass! Love the roof roughness and colors across the build
  17. Looks like a great torso! Thanks for the tip
  18. Another thing to consider is how much room you want the storage to take up. My method of using acrylic display cases takes up lots of room (the whole top of a bookcase), but the pro is that I can see them and be reminded they exist to use in MOCs. However, some times I need to make room on top of the shelf to put half-done MOCs. If your collection is fitting in that divided case, that might be great - doesn't take up too much room! You could potentially use ziplocs within the division to group things as needed. @TomSkippy I think the torso of the Toy Soldier is pretty good, but the blue legs, red hat, rosy cheeks, etc are all pretty goofy - so I changed them! Interesting tip about storing minifigs broken apart into torsos/heads/etc. I have ~150 minifigs but 300+ heads. I find I end up finding and using a head from one of the built together minifigs in a display case rather than rummaging through the overflow bag - helps it stay front of mind. Definitely good to have extra bags for different color epaulettes, etc though. I keep baggies of hats, epaulettes, muskets, swords, etc in a fishing tackle box. Broke some of them out recently for The Siege of Skull Island by Imperial Guards. Good point re: ability to find things. Probably best to weigh the following and come up with a ratio that is right for you: - Ability to find what you need quickly - Amount of space it takes up to store - Ability to see / display the minifigs if that gives you inspiration
  19. LOL it went from very good to awesome when it went to Redcoats
  20. I will see if I have some time today to take some pics of the organized cases. Would be good to see what @natesroom is trying to sort!
  21. I also find it helpful to have a 2-step case with my "go to" minifigs in it because it provides easy access. This is my current go to case:
  22. I've been trying to pin down a working organization scheme, too. I have ~150 pirate/imperial minifigs. I end up giving minifigs in other themes (space, marvel, etc) to my kids My scheme is centered around having the minifigs sorted so I can quickly find them to use them in MOCs. Current scheme is below: - Redcoats (an acrylic 2-step case for each) --- Classic Torsos (60x) --- Newer Torsos (12x) --- Imperial Admiral (10x) --- Newer Imperial Officers (12x) --- Toy Soldiers / Redcoat Cavalry (8x) --- Royal Guards (5x) --- Sea Captain / Royal Naval Intelligence Officers (6x) --- Dark Blue Officer variants for Royal Navy officers (16x) - Bluecoats (an acrylic 2-step case for each) --- Classic Torsos (20x) --- Newer Torsos (12x) --- Imperial Governor (4x) --- Bespin Guards / Bluecoat Cavalry (8x) - Greencoats (all in a single case) --- Thespian Torso (2x) --- Greycoats (9x) --- Hoodie guy w/ armor & dragon helmet (4x) - Pirates (case per each) --- Classic pirates (12x) --- Classic pirates that could pass for townsfolk (12x) --- PoTC (12x) - Others that can be used with pirates (single case) --- Native American minifigs (4x) --- Roman/Greek (6x) --- Highwaymen (4x) --- Girl minifigs / princesses (6x) --- Shakespeare (3x) --- Armada (2x) --- Castle Townsfolk (4x)
  23. Thanks! I'm going to give that technique a try. With it not quite fitting, do you need trans bricks holding it in place? Seems like it is so tight it might hold itself in place - will play around with it!
  24. Thanks for posting the hi-def pic links. How did you make the windows on the right building? They look great!
  25. Been looking forward to you posting this one! The buildings look great, and the tea plants are wonderful! Do you have higher-res photo links available? Would love to check out the details more closely Nice shout out to Wullham!
