  1. I'm not really surprised the theme turned out to be Scoopy-Doo, but I'm still a bit dissapointed that it's not a direct continuation of Monster Fighters. There was still a good amount of monsters that could have been made. From the list though, I think I'd only be interested in the Mystery Machine, since it's the most iconic "non-person." I kinda feel though that this theme won't have much legs for expansion after the van--I don't feel there's really that many costumed monsters or locations that are famous enough to warrant sets. I don't think I know a name of any of the villains, and there's really only two or so that I do recognize as classic Scooby-Doo foes by apperance. Still, I am excited for the figures of the gang--I've been dying to make Scooby-Doo & Batman team up MOCs lately. I even started looking into making purist "Scooby-Doo" figures (more so humorous knockoffs without the name, but we all know who they are!) to use instead; but I guess I'll have wait it out now!
  2. I have to say I like that there is a mix between the New 52 designs and the Classic ones, simply for the reason that I hate the New 52 designs. I think it would suck if DC insisted Lego could only the 52 theme that they seem to force everyone else to use. At least this way we get a bit of both, for those who like the classic designs.
  3. To be honest I cannot remember the levels of modding from this time or that time; only more specific instances where forums were temporarily benched. The problem we (apparently) have here is really just a lack of self accountability. It's first and foremost up to the user/poster to make sure their posts fit the topic; which seems to be the main problem here. The mods are not to blame for people who keep posting long wish lists and posts about trailers or posting "facts" acting as if hearsay is confirmed in stone (and then building more "facts" off that). None of that belongs here in the first place. The DC Rumors & Discussion thread is just that; for DC set rumors and discussion. People need to be self accountable for their posts. This is not the forum for wish lists (we do I fact have one of those somewhere; granted it's basically usless); people know that but post them anyways. This is not the forum for those "kinda of topic, yada yada yada" statements (if your typing that, it's an immediate red flag that the topic should not be here!--incidentilly just like this modding discussion which has no place in this forum whatsoever); people know that but post them anyways (kinda like I am, but that's not the point). What the point is, is, that as a community of posters we first and foremost must make sure we ourselves are actively working to follow the guidelines of the forums; especially in regards to what should be posted where. The mods are not the ones causing the problems here; it is we the community with the trouble posts and the best and most efficient way to stop this epidemic is by self accountability.
  4. Interesting that the Iron Drone heads have printing, but it may be because the same head is used on Ultron and his Ultimate/Prime versions. The dots are at the mouth level, and I've often seen Ultron's glowing red mouth depicted in part with dots. Mark 43 looks like more of the same to me, but with a new helmet print. At this point for me, all the Iron Men blend together, since they are so similar. Heck it's at the point where I cannot remember (or care to) all their equally similar names. But whatever--the other new figures of this upcoming wave are awesome nonetheless. Hopefully we'll also get some new Tony a Stark face prints too.
  5. Legion of Doom: Last Supper Room From the book of Legionary Doom:
  6. Looks spectacular, especially the snow. I feel the winter season is sorely underutilized in Castle builds; which is clearly rectified with this build!
  7. I wonder what kind of license restrictions are on the newer superhero pieces being molded. Actually, no, I'd be willing to bet there are some. For all we know, Lego cannot Flash's cowl with anything but DC sets--which means they can not use it for CA even if they wanted to. On the reverse there's also suggestions in the DC thread about using an Iron Man helmet repurposed for Deathstroke, which may have similar issues. I'm sure there are some contingencies in Lego's license that stops the crossing of licensed pieces. It's the same reason we never see say, Darth Vader's helmet, in anything but a Star Wars set. But regardless, in my opinion, I don't understand all the pleads for a "winged" Captain anyways. The wings are such a small portion on Captain America's costume I don't know why we even need a new mold or any type of extra headgear (other than potential printing) to represent them. It seems like it would be a waste of the theme's mold budget to upgrade Captain. The wings are not nearly as important to his costume (especially in the films) as say the bolts are to Flash's costume (which in Lego's version basically represent all of the yellow on him!). But that's my opinion.
  8. They basically had the same hair--it would have been passable for Lego to use the elf hair for Sinestro (which I think they should have done). But either way, in regards to Beast Boy I think it's unlikely to expect the elf hair--to me it seems far more likely that Lego will just use Joker's hair, since it is a piece already in production--it's far cheaper than molding a piece is a new color that also needs printing. Lego never seems to do what we expect with the superhero figures frankly.
  9. That's most likely what will happen. Lego will ignore the boot printing, and I wouldn't be surprised if they also axed the good ear hair, and just gave him Joker's green widow peak hair. Which would such, but it wouldn't surprise me at this point.
  10. For my favorite sets, I'll choose: DC: 10672 Batman: Defend the Batcave (Juniors) This was easily the DC set I had the most fun with. It really had a 60's vibe, and I love the new regular blue Batman that was included. Although there was a missed opportunity for a Cesar Romero Joker, everything else was great. This may come as a shock, but this was my favorite DC set. None of the other ones (bar the Penguin one) included any impressive builds, and even then I felt the minifigure selection was boring. This is especially evident in the lack of quality in the 2014 sets when compared to the new 2015 DC wave thus far. Marvel: 76022 X-Men vs. the Sentinel This was a tough choice, since I also very much enjoyed the Red Skull and Hulk Smash sets, but for me, finally getting more X-Men and their iconic jet along with an equally iconic enemy just took the edge. The jet is just so fun to swoosh around, as is the Sentinel.
  11. Yeah I too had to look up who Lightning Lad was---so I really could care less if I don't get him; talk about bottom of the bucket. If I see that cube on the shelves I may pick it up, but it's not something I'm going to search out on my own. I am interested however in Trickster, which is a great surprise. It's awesome that we are suddenly getting so many Flash adversaries.
  12. I managed to find the last two sets I needed today, the Brainiac and Grodd ones. I found the former at Target, and the latter at Toys R Us--despite Toys R Us.com saying they didn't have the set at the store I went to. Incidentally, I also picked up the new Lego Movie set, the smallest one, which provides us with nice new Batman face print. Both sets were great; although I did swap out Martian Manhunter's long blue new cape for the promo versions old style cape--which is the same fabric type as MM's short collar cape. I also gave Brainiac a dark bley hip piece, which helps transition his printed torso to his plain black legs.
  13. Yeah but that doesn't make them any less horrible! After getting some of the capes and holding them in my hand, I have to say I'm not happy with them. While they are incrediblely soft, they are very flimsy feeling--it's almost to the point where I don't want to touch it since I fear ripping it. They are very stretchable though, but I'm not sure about the strength of the neck hole, so even then I don't want to fool around with it. Although I still think my biggest problem is the overall look. I absolutely hate the neck scarf they give all the Minifigures wearing them.
  14. No, I totally understand! I was so upset when I didn't immediately see the new sets at the second Target I went to (well that and the second Target was in the complete opposite direction from the first, and separated by miles of traffic and construction, but I digress). I'm just super happy I got some, but of course I'm still going to check this weekend again for the last two.
  15. I managed to find three sets today; the Javelin, Manta, and Sinestro ones! I had to go to two Targets and a Toys R Us to find them however--and all three were at the second Target--the other two stores had almost no Lego sets on the shelves. It's also worth noting that I found the sets completely scattered across the Lego section, and it took five minutes or so of depression to find them. I spotted the Manta set first, on the opposite side of the Superhero area. Sinestro was found laying down with some other sets almost below my eye level. And the Javelin set was hidden in behind a Milano herd. There was no sign of the other two sets, and there was only one duplicate set, The Manta one--everything else was the only quantity of said set that I could find. The Javelin set rang up as $59.00; which was a surprize since I had the idea somewhere that it was $70. Manta and Sinestro were $39.99 and $19.99 respectively. Interestingly enough, I could kind of get a guess at was not selling--Hero Factory was literally in huge piles at Toys R Us (there was so much it was higher than the aisle stand!) while the Superheroes and Star Wars areas were a ghost town; and there were masses of Joker Steamroller sets at Target--although I did "sell" one, when I pointed it out to a customer who was searching (for the not-present Aquaman/Bat/Freeze set) that it was the cheapest set present with Batman (which in fact it was; there were no Penguin attack sets, but on the flips side loads of Electro sets). Just interesting to see what was gone and what wasn't.
  16. No. Those shows are too adult for the superhero line, at least Arrow is, and we can assume Supergirl will be too. However I think the larger problem is the fact that even though those shows are popular, they have nowhere near the amount of viewers to warrant sets based off them as movies or more general comic sets do; and with the lack of viewers means a lack of target market viewers, ergo children. Heck we don't even get sets based on all of the super successful Marvel movies. We could always get semi-tie in sets--we did get a Green Arrow figure this wave, as well as a largely Flash based set.
  17. Really? The 2006 Joker is practically 1:1 to the Batman Animated Series design. The only thing that may be off is the hair, but Lego was just using a re-color of an in-production piece. The 2006 Joker, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy were all 1:1 to their animated counterparts; which was awesome. I only wish Lego continued the line and adapted Justice League animated, so we wouldn't just be getting the League now!
  18. I'd much rather prefer a minifgure of Sandman rather than a brick built version. I mean, anyone could just build their own brick built Sandman (even right now), considering he's mostly just tan slopes; but it is impossible to make your own accurate custom Sandman minifigure (and accurate as in not using an old Lego soccer torso). I'm also iffy on the idea of a brick built Rhino, who I think would work better as a big-figure. I get the feeling that if we get a brick built Rhino, he would be way too large, like the recent images of the Hulkbuster. Most of all, I just hope there's a Marvel set hiding somewhere in the next wave with a Classic Green Goblin; who is sorely missed at this point.
  19. Wow! That's the coolest gift ever!
  20. Ahoy! I'm sharing with you today (In the Historic forums, which is really out of character for me!) a Middle Earth contest creation that I built for the Middle Earth Lego Olympics (2014-2015) on Mocpages. For Round 1, we were asked to build a creation inspired by one song from LotR/Hobbit, and I chose to build my rather abstract creation based on which you should please listen to while you are viewing this creation. The build depicts Gollum having acquired the One Ring by strangling his cousin for it, and then being enveloped in the darkness that lives inside the ring. Build Time: 2.5 Hours Enjoy! ~Nemo
  21. Not really enthused at the prospect of a Jokerland set--we already got a funhouse set which I thought was perfect, so it just feels like a redundant set idea. I get the feeling that it'll just be a larger version of the funhouse. Although I'd for sure buy if it included Killer Moth! Plus I think I'd rather get more iconic locations like the Hall of Justice/Doom now that Lego seemed to be heading towards a more Justice League focused waves (although this is only two sets after all, so we could end up with more JL sets). Batman water set? Also redundant; no doubt we would get another Batman water vehicle which would be what; the fourth one in less than two years. Again it doesn't sound too exciting considering we already have so many bat-boat-vehicles; but I suppose it's all about the figures anyways and that would be a great time to finally include a new Killer Croc, hopefully based of his game appearance; moving jaw and all.
  22. First semi-set images via Hoth Bricks on Flickr! I think the image looks great, and it seems that we are getting tons of cool builds--plus the best thing ever: a mosquito covered in tree sap!
  23. There may be some truth to this...because my Toys R Us does not have any.
  24. It would be a store exlusive...like sold only at Toys R Us or Target (or something)...not an exclusive exclusive, like from SDCC. Everyone will be able to get the set, assuming they get the set from certain places. It's nothing to get worked up about--the DC Brainiac also seems to be a store exclusive too. Store exclusive sets are nothing new in the Lego world. That's kind of funny! I think the old scepter was good enough, although it looked more like Odin's staff than the one Thanos gave him. The one now does looks very inaccurate however. Whatever, I really don't feel like it's that big of a deal; it's not like there's going to be tons of scepters in the movie that will make it a confusing piece.
  25. Having not read the books, but enjoyed the LotR films and the other Hobbit ones, I thought this last film was great! It had lots of action and emotion, and seemed more fresh. I thought the beginning (the first 10 minutes or so) was a bit too quick, since despite how the last film ended, it seemed like the Lake-Town attack was just thrown on--and so the death of Smaug did not feel like a big deal; but after that the movie picked up. The "dragon madness" was the hightlight of the film; it was portrayed in a spectacular fashion. The battles were not what I was expecting--it was just block formations with no stragtegy. In all honesty seeing that movie, the orcs should have easily won; they were the only one with forethought to think before they just ran into a dead end battlefield. They only thing they should have done was put all force on the main army instead of making two fronts. But the battles nonetheless looked cool; especially the fights on top of the ice river. But I don't get all the hate that the movie is getting from LotR fans--I don't know what you were expecting, but even with my little knowledge of the books themselves, I know the children's story of the Hobbit is not the same as the epic of the Rings. It was a good ending to Middle Earth for me, but I wasn't expecting it to be a line for line translation as some people might have been.
