DC Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussions
Captain Nemo replied to Ezekiel2517's topic in LEGO Licensed
I always loved Christo's version of Plastic Man...and that picture just reinforces that thought. I'm not sure why Lego went with the version they did, as opposed to the infinitely more famous classic version that Christo used. It's just weird. Ugggh. I'm starting to feel like my statement "I have no idea what Lego was thinking" seems to be becoming too common a phrase for our Superhero theme. -

Not sure how I feel about Wonder Woman. Her torso is spectacular, but I've never been a fan of the pants look. However; I suppose it's better they went with pants rather than only printing flesh on the front of her skirt legs and not on the sides. That seemed to be the case from the early pictures, and having flesh only on the front of the legs would have looked terrible. So I guess this is better than that. Now if only we could get some boots for Flash. -

Uhhhhh. Yes we all totally would rather have the obscure Batzarro instead of the infinitely more popular and important Bizarro. Good move Lego...again. -

I'm surprised by the lack of a New 52 Superman; but frankly I'm not upset about it--Classic always trumps 52, in style...and everything else. It is surprising to see Martian Manhunter with a collar piece however, which is a neat addition; but like so many other characters he's screaming for leg printing. I'm not sure yet if I like him more or less than the 52 one we got--I think I prefer the formers torso/cape and the latters face. So I may be mixing him up. Brainiac looks rather nice, but could use some leg printing--and maybe a more neutral face--but regardless I'm happy to get him. Supergirl is spectacular however! Although I prefer her more street clothes look (white "supergirl" shirt version; ala Animated series), this version looks great--I just hope the printing on her legs is top notch like classic Wonder Woman; since it would be a tragedy if she suffered from the "red tint" that often happens with pale colors on red Minifigure parts. And of course Braniac's ship is amazing. This is an easy buy set for sure. Also list me down too for wanting Cheetah! She seems sorely missed in this wave! -

Can't wait for my game to arrive--what with the added bonus of early figure images! I love Grodd, but I'm really iffy about those cybernetic dots printed on his head--I like it more when there's no indication that Grodd is anything but a normal gorilla (at which point he destroys you telepathically). So I'm going to be really considering removing them with an eraser...darn then I'll need a pristine extra one! Curse you Lego--you get me again! Speaking of which, I'll also want to pick up another Lex Mech set (which is surprisingly still for sale, although that may be ending). This may be the last time we see a classic fully printed Wonder Woman for a seriously long time; so I better get a safety extra! I don't want to pay aftermarket prices for her either--some of those early superhero figures (such as Deadpool) get really pricey once their sets go off the market. -

I checked my Toys R Us today (Rockford IL), but I didn't see any coons; or even promotion signs for them. Might be a bit early to start searching. -

Captain Nemo replied to Ezekiel2517's topic in LEGO Licensed
You may be able to put a head on the figure if you remove the top section of the helmet actually (So he's got a neck brace kinda), which is equally good. I don't see any other reason to make the mold that way. It would be less complex if they didn't want a minifigure head to be on the body; not more. Never mind. Either way I think he looks great! Cannot wait to get him--and Captain Cold (Tonight's Flash episodes just makes me want him more!). -
Way, way, way late in posting these here, but oh well! Gambit & Mr. Sinister Gambit is mostly purist, but has a custom trenchcoat by Christo. Sinister is 100% purist. Green Arrow and Black Canary Both are 100% purist. Enjoy!

I don't understand the desire for a Wayne Manor; and I'm a huge Batman fan. Aside from potentially giving us good new figures, what's the point of the set? Almost nothing interesting actually happens in the Manor itself; everything cool about it is that the fact that Batcave happens to be under it! There's no real play value to the thing either; aside from watching Alfred dust and maybe having Bruce Wayne sleep in the day. The former of which is most likely a good feature actually, since the thing would just end up sitting on people's shelves. There's just no reason to make a Wayne Manor set unless you make a Batcave to go under it--and that just adds a whole slew of problems at we see in the Cuusoo set; mainly pieces, price, and height (Seriously "Ground floor" is like 25 bricks high). Lego would be far better off building something else for their larger superhero sets. -
LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (Video Game Discussion)
Captain Nemo replied to The Joker1's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Yay! Killer Moth! Ok we have all the figures we need! Anyways, I'm sure we'll get those characters too, at least Darksied. If we get or have the physical minifigure of a character, I'm 100% they will be in the game--it's just all about cross -promotion. Lego wants to make sure that if a kid has the figure in hand, they can also play as that same character in the game. It could also be that we will get many more characters in the three yet unknown DLC that are still to come--maybe they're be a Suicide Squad one (Which would be really cool actually, it'd be like a villain level from Lego Batman). On another note, I think Zoom look pretty blah. Just a Flash recolor, who is himself pretty blah (Come on Lego give him some boots already!). Captain Cold on the other hand is amazing--I cannot wait to get the minifigure of him! -

On another note, apparently those in Canada can get the new Rocket Raccoon polybag with a purchase of $30 or more at Toys R Us right now; at least that's what one of my Flickr contacts said after posting a picture with two of them (Granted he was lucky the employee gave him two after asking politely). I don't know how long this promotion lasts, but apparently the stores only got 50 Raccoons each, so you better act fast to get one. The same promotion will be going on in the US during November. -
Solar Suit Superman vs. Doomsday Donning his Solar Suit to enhance the sun’s rays and his own power, Superman flies into battle with his greatest and most dangerous foe yet: Doomsday! This was a commission build by Power Brick; a customizer team; who provided me with their new Solar Suit Superman (Bricklink/Ebay) to use in this creation. It is inspired both by the figure, and the figure’s source: that of the Death of Superman storyline from the comics/film. Doomsday is based off his apperance in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. Enjoy! ~Nemo

Oh I'm sure we will get her eventually, but I feel like this would have been the perfect wave/time to release her, what with the Legion of Doom/LB3 tie in. A small $12 set with Cheetah and Wonder Woman would have been a great way to get the characters and a great way to see how a non-Batman and non-male superhero set could sell. I also think the lack of a smaller end superhero set is a bit strange--I feel like the theme does best when there's a good amount of smaller sets (Lego excels at the $20 range)--it is all about the figures afterall (At least with superheroes). -

Wha? Why would you quote the picture that is literally right above your post? Citizen's arrest! Let's stop this epidemic please! --- Anywho, like expected Scuba-Robin is not super useful. The best part about him is his alternative "mask" face that I suppose could be used for some purist superhero/villains. Although we very much could have used another character, I do somewhat understand Lego's need to have a Robin in this wave--actually no I don't. What we need one more set; a small $12 one--with Cheetah of course. Really, just...just no. We don't need this Robin. -
Nice pictures! Even though I saw this in person, it's still impressive to see pictures of. It always amazes me how builders can keep things together for so long to--all my Brickworld builds were a pile of brick-dust the day after the event ended! And it's good to see all those sidewalks still standing strong! It is a bit disappointing to hear that there was little interest in viewing it though, at least in comparison to licensed/themed/non-animal builds. While I obviously sit on the side of licensed builds, I think it's disappointing that custom creative builds don't seem to get nearly as much attention; at least that's what I felt at Brickworld. Everyone would gravitate towards creations that were either instantly recognizable or simply massive. Some kind of visual story or moving mechanisms might help in getting views. That and maybe display signs--I think that's what I'm going to do next year since it'll just stop lots of ridiculous questions right out the gate. Most of all I think something crazy and attention getting would help--make something huge and crazy; build a giant massive tree with purple elf leaves in the center of the castle! Then thrown a monorail in there too--everyone loves monorails! Something like that would both draw people in and want to know what it is. That or free candy. No matter how cool my Batman build was, the Candy Push next to me drew all the kids' attention!

Johnny Thunder: The Myth, the Minifig
Captain Nemo replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Great article! Adventurers was one of my favorite themes, and it's great to have something like this to show how far it has come--at least in regards to Johnny Thunder! I was very excited and happy to see him appear in the Lego movie (I think he also appears in the scene that shows the police hunting Master Builders, where he is sneaking around a billboard and is spotted by a searchlight--followed by the hat scene, by the way), and I really hope he gets a larger more important appearance in the next one. It would be hilarious to see Indiana Jones next to Johnny Thunder on the big screen! I found that you could get tons of unique information about the characters from Lego (Mania) Magazines at the time; I mean how else would you find out that Rudo Villano is superstitious or that Senor Palomar (apparently) gets "steamed" when kids confuse him for the ice cream man! (Lego Mania Magazine, Jan-Feb 1999) So need to start building Adventurers mocs!- 24 replies

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Captain Nemo replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm iffy on whether I'd like a USC/D2C Helicarrier or not; at least at that price. It starts to change from something awesome into something way out of my price range (And something that if bought, would mean I'd need to give up basically all the other sets of the wave). I guess I could see it happening, but I wouldn't expect many figures, or for it to be in minifigure scale. I'm sure that any notion that we'll get like 20 figures is just crazy howerver (The Death Star got so many figures because it was both a massive set and the wave had been making massive amounts of money for Lego for years previously). I think it would be more like the Tumbler set, with a few figures and a large build at a different scale--granted it'd be an amazing grey-parts pack! Although I'm sure I'll catch flack for even suggesting this (Just like I'm too afraid to suggest anything about Minas Tirith in the history forms! ), I actually always though a great Helicarrier could be made at a much smaller scale, utilizing something like a boat hull (Something akin to 70006 but a bit larger--it's idea of the thing really). It would not be anywhere near the scale of a movie version but I could see a more cartoon animated Hellicarrier working very well like that--it would fit very well with the other Marvel set's we've gotten, at least the comic based ones. It would offer stability for swooshability, a full interior, and most likely a far lower cost than a massive fully brick built one. I don't know, I'd be more than happy with that. -

No; it has been used in Black before in the CMF line. I have to say though, that piece looks spectacular in Black, so it's unfortunate that it's not used in that color more. -- Anyways, I think it's great that Rocket is a polybag--but of course now I need to find one somehow! I guess this means I won't need to buy the Knowhere set, since this Rocket seems far better that the set version. -

Thanks Lego, we all needed and wanted another ugly blue Electro rather than the more popular and iconic Classic yellow/green one. But on the plus side, this figure gets leg printing! Just like the last one! Good thing Lego gives it to the characters who need it the most! -
What was the last movie you watched?
Captain Nemo replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I just watched Gone Girl, with Ben Affleck. I was interested to see it, since well it looked good, and to see what kind of Batman we are in for! The latter of which I didn't get any idea on, but I did find that the movie was very, very, good--and super suspenseful. I've not read the book it's based off of so that helped add more suspense. This thing had so many twists and turns it rivaled GoT (Or at least a few episodes of it!). I will say it did seem a bit long, like really long; because of the twists there was no sense that it would end (This is not necessarily a bad thing, but there were times when you expected more common movie things to occur and signal the end is near); and that I didn't find the ending too satisfying. It's very surprising and unexpected, but not very satisfying. Still, Gone Girl is a great movie...although I'm still iffy on an Affleck Batman! -
[Petition] Save LEGO the Lord of the Rings
Captain Nemo replied to Trunkbass's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Just throwing my two cents on this subject; as a big fan of GoT, it'll never, ever, ever be a Lego theme! Game of Thrones is way, way, way too adult themed for Lego. I don't doubt that it would sell well, but the main problem is just the simple fact that Lego would not touch it with a 1000 stud pole. Granted, I think it would make a great theme based on the characters and locations; but oh well, we'll just have to stick with custom mocs (Which are surprisingly rare in the building community). ---- Not to beat a dead horse, but (being a negative-nancy) on this actual topic, I feel this petition has an equal chance of success as GoT becoming a theme. As sad as it is to say, Lego Middle Earth is done fore after the final Hobbit movie; it's clear Lego has no intention of expanding the line afterword. And the petition itself does not have the steam required to get anywhere near 10,000 votes; I feel like it would be more productive to get the votes on a Lego Ideas submission, since it'll actually be noticed by Lego (Granted even the famous Minas Tirith build took well over a year to finally get half the required votes). Even if the petition has any effect, the production schedule of Lego sets means it would be months after that we'd get a set, and by then all Hobbit steam will be over. It's the end of days in Middle Earth! Accept it people!- 298 replies
