Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Captain Nemo replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
That's just the normal Toys R Us markup--they rarely if ever sell anything at it's actual listed price; it's almost always more expensive. New sets at Toys R Us can sometimes be found for their actual price before their street date for sale however--but once that date comes (or soon after) they jack up the prices. Incidentilly this is why it's nice to finds new sets at Toys R Us, because (as in the case with these Avengers sets) they often end up selling them way early at their actual price, before they realize that (aside from the fact that they are not supposed to be selling them) and they increase the price to let stock sit on their shelves for months. Toys R Us logic apparently. --- In an interesting Toys R Us story, I recently about a week ago (so before the street date) bought the Hawkeye set; and as I came to the cash register, it rank up with an error (since their system does not want it to be sold! This happend a week before that when I bought the Hulkbuster); and the employee--clearly annoyed--radioed to his manager loudly, "the Lego thing again!" Obviously that was happening a lot, and when the manager came (who allowed me to buy the set), the employee said to her, "we just need to take these off the shelves, this is happening like every minute." Well I thought to myself at that moment--Toys R Us employees, don't put out 10 of every new Avengers set on the shelves and get upset when people want to buy them! Oh Toys R Us...it's always some kind if experience when you go there. -

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (Video Game Discussion)
Captain Nemo replied to The Joker1's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Ooooof. After playing the Bizarro and Squad DLCs, I can only say what a letdown. Both were incredably boring. Each had only three or so sections, and basically nothing was going on in any of them. I think I'm most disappointed in the Squad pack though. The level seemed at the start to be incredably fun, but it was actually just fighting a total of fifteen henchmen (or so) and opening like three doors...that was it. The apparent plot was a break in (by Killer Moth--not present at all) and you don't even have any kind of boss battle. --- I have to say after having the game for a while now...I think it sucks to be honest. The overall story is generic DC and terrible, and I have no interest in replaying it or wandering around empty Lantern planets. I'm at 75% or so, and I think that's where it'll stay. The DLCs are universally disappointments, with the only good thing about them being the characters--who many of, quite frankly, should have been in the game to begin with. And don't even get me started on the overused Batman 1 music and those horrid Tron levels. After playing the amazing Lego Marvel game, this DC one is just subpar in every way. -
Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Captain Nemo replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I do have to say I find it strange that they are only "indifferent" towards piracy--any smart nation interested in trade would not want to have to deal with pirates stealing their junk. Indifferent does not seem harsh enough. Other than that though, it's great to see some progress! -
Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Captain Nemo replied to adotnamedstud's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think the Dilophosaurus set will sell the best. It includes only two minifigures (In fact most of the sets feel like they could use one more figure), but the jeep is well designed and for sure that Gyrosphere will be enticing for many people--since it just looks so fun to roll around! Plus the Dilohosaurus is one of the nicer designed dinos, being both scary and colorful. And finally the price seems the best for what you get, considering the jeep is built well--it seems a better buy than the $20 Pterodactyl set (which strikes me as slightly boring) and the Raptor set which most find slightly overpriced. The Dilophosaurus set is for sure the first one I'm buying! In the aftermarket however...all those Dinos gonna be sellin' well! Or at least for a lot!- 1,412 replies

DC Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussions
Captain Nemo replied to Ezekiel2517's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm sure the Harley jester hat instead of hair is just both parts convenience and laziness. Obviously, it's easier for Lego to just use Harley's hat since it's already in production. It would cost more to use the new CMF hair mold (that would work well) as it would need to be re-painted. Regardless I think it's lazy to not use it--largely because the hat just makes the figure look terrible. I wonder how the Harleen Quinzel hair would look? Either way, it does come off as lazy. As I've said before, the success of the Superhero line depends largely on how well the figures are designed (because as we know, the characters are by far the most important part of the theme)--so Lego needs to keep up the great quality they had in the previous DC wave. Frankly it's really just the stupid choices like Harley's jester hat use and Green Goblin's horrendous leg printing that annoy me the most about the Superhero theme. I can stomach meh builds if it means we get amazing figures--but meh figures? -
Finally registered! I cannot wait--I had so much fun last year, and I'm sure I'll have more fun this year! But now the race is truly on to get everything built. I've already started cutting builds from my layout, but one has to keep building on regardless! Those giant robots are not going to make themselves! Woops that's a secret!

Hulkbuster Hulk does indeed have leg printing. I'm not sure why he doesn't in that picture though, since it seems like a finalized image. Granted, there are also issues with the offical Lego website images of Gorilla Grodd--there's no printing on him shown. I think Lego is slipping in some areas that they should have easily done right in the first place. But that's another topic. -

Thanks for the review just2good! The Hydra base set is really an iffy one for me. I do love the minifigures; and I actually like the tank too, since it has that Captain America: The First Avenger design, but it can also be easily recolored to fit with the comic Hydra vehicle. However, I hate just about everything else. That Hydra fortress just screams "part me out!"--and I think it's rather lazy that the exact same play feature from the Sinestro set is used for the entire inside of the base. Really this set doesn't scream too much of a value--especially if you compare it to the Hulk Lab Smash set from last year (which is still on the shelves), which had 100% new and exclusive characters (Including MODOK) plus a far more substantial build for the same price. I don't know...what I do know is that my opinion really doesn't matter in regards to Superhero sets, because I know I'll end up buying it anyways. Curse this lovely addiction! -

According to the box art sitting in front of me, it is Mark 43 in the Hulkbuster set. Mark 45 is used in the Drone set, although it is not stated on the box. The character sheet on the back of the comic included in the Hulkbuster set lists only two Iron Men, 43 and 45. So it looks like there's no 44. -

At my local Toys R Us I found the whole wave of the new Avengers sets on the shelves (In addition to the new waves of Elves, Pirates, and Ninjago fyi). There was a bit of a scare when the two Ultron Drone sets I grabbed rang up with a street date notice (the 1st), but the manager was nice enough to sell them anyways. Notably, the sets were hidden in the Marvel/Star Wars action figure section rather than the Lego isle--so if your out hunting for the sets, that's an area to check if you don't see anything in the Lego isles. Anyways, I bought two Drone sets and the Hulkbuster set. Both are simply amazing--and I think the Hulkbuster is my favorite mech Lego has ever built--it just blows my previous favorite (Lex's mech) out of the water. The scale is perfect I have to say. And I'm already having fun with the sets! "Lookie Lookie; We Found us a Nerd!" "There’s only room for one evil android in this collection—get em’ boys!" --- Also, a few pages back I remember some discussion about using the drone helmets for Captain America; and whether or not it would work/look good. Turns out it does, for the most part. I think it fits very well, the only problem would be that the helmet has a lower down nose section, that covers the Cap's mouth. I do think it's plausible that Lego could use this piece later on for a helmed Captain America--granted with a slightly different printed head to fit the helm better. -

I'm not super impressed with the Quicksilver figure--he's rather plain; granted his movie costume seems pretty boring to begin with. I am interested in his parts though--I bet that white hair would look amazing on Storm for a more modern/movie look. -

I have to admit I do want the Swamp Monster now that his face print looks so amazing. I was sure I didn't want the Lighthouse set; but now? And the face reminds me of like a Yeti or a monster from Samurai Jack. Well than and Penguin! I too hope the rest look like Batman villains in disguise! Ooo! I cannot wait to build Batman & Scooby Doo MOCs!- 1,699 replies

I have the same feeling. I really regret not buying any of the Dino sets; because now it's basically impossible to get any one dinosaur for anything close to what constitutes "cheap". I think I would be more picky on the builds for these sets if say it were for another theme--but really for me (and I'm sure many people), it's all about the dinosaurs! So any second chance I have to get some--especially the cool new dinosaurs, is a chance I'm going to take.- 1,412 replies

Lego--if Marvel would let them--could make sets based off of any of the movies; Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic Four; anything. This is because Marvel still holds all of the merchandising (ergo toy) rights to their properties. That doesn't mean however Marvel wants to be selling toys for a movie they did not make and don't want to support (Lookin at you FF). It's the same reason we don't see action figures based off say the X-Men movies--Spider-Man however is a top seller, so Marvel does allow somethings. I think it seems likely however that we may get some tie-ins with the future Spider-Man properties since he will be incorporated into the MCU. Granted it's all what Marvel will allow Lego to make. -

I will admit I never wanted a Raven figure...but now that we are getting the other Titan members, I need one! And Killer Moth. While we are on the petition phase, would it be too hard to add Killer Moth in the fine print maybe? Seriously though, I do hope we get a Raven--and that she doesn't go the way of Marvel's White Tiger--where we never get the last team member (I cannot see us ever getting a Tiger at this point--I hate the show, but come on, that's like leaving out Black Widow or Wonder Woman--ergo the only female on the team!). -
I think I may have posted this first photo when I made the creation, but anyways here's a second photo too, but with different results!

Stunning! For sure this is best castle I've seen in recent memory. The whole build has this effortless feel to it--it's simple and clean. Beautiful and bright--dark orange is a severely underutilized and underrated color. Very unique from the over detailed castles or storybook cottages that plague the sites nowadays. Spectacular!

Or! Or...Killer Moth maybe? I would by any set to get a Killer Moth or Firefly--any set. Really I think this set could have easily fit in new characters like Killer Moth or Mad Hatter and still kept the funhouse feel. I just hope this is the last time we see that same Ivy again. -

Hothbricks on Flickr says the set is € 59.99 for 405 pieces. Which is really really overpriced. I like the look of this set a lot; and of course it has two really important exlusive characters; but it'll be a tough buy at that price in any country! -

That seems to be the case. FBTB just uploaded some videos that show play features and in Mystery Mansion set, the man on the video (at the way end, and when the quality cuts out unfortunatetly--although personally that's fine for me, since I'd like to be surprised to see their faces when I get the sets!) is shown taking the Vampire's hair off (with a struggle! ) to show an alternative human face. Granted I don't know what'll happen for the Van monster--he's the only figure really that has a problem since he cannot have an alternative face (what with no hair to cover it). On another note, I'm so excited that the Mansion also comes with a coffin for the Vampire--especially one that's designed so well. Hopefully it's not just a lid though!- 1,699 replies

Overall I'm impressed with the new Marvel sets. All the Avengers sets are good; and the new images of the comic sets show promise too. Obviously the Carnage set is an instant buy. Great figures, decent build, super cheap price! I love the Shield Agent, whose torso could work well for a classic-ish Nick Fury. Although I will admit, I was kinda hoping that we'd get a minifigure version of those trophy Agents from the Hellicarrier set! Wouldn't it be cute to get a plain minifigure in all dark blue with a smile face and Shield logo! The Sandman set is also good. I don't think Rhino is amazing, and I know I'll be modding it slightly; but the more I see him the more I kind of like him. Sandman however is a slight disappointment, mainly because they decided to print sand on his torso, so we cannot have just a normal version--which is the thing we needed the most! Above all, I'm most excited to get my hands on the Antman set. I love the figures --they're perfect, and I also love the "large" Lego bricks. The ant design is also nice. It just seems like such a fun set. Green Goblin...I'm not a fan. But Lego will get my money eventually. They always do.
