Wow, that Elektra is like crazy good. I was actually thinking about how to make her, but with a different hair piece--it would not have turned out this well. I didn't realize that the gypsy hairpiece is new with a red scarf--I don't pay enough attention to the new pirate sets I guess! It's the perfect combination. I do agree that you need some flesh legs though--the Supergirl legs look spectacular with that torso set up--now I just need to get that hair piece too!

Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Captain Nemo replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Lovely banner image. Banners like these would look great above a BoBS forum. I do think it might be better to make it more Lego-like though--like swapping out the realistic crown and coins for a Lego crown shape and lego coins. I think that would give it a more classic feel and it would blend well with the Redcoat and Bluecoat flags that I'm sure people will use. -- As for me, I'm sure now that I'm siding with the Pirate faction! Nothing beats freedom on the seas; taking what you want, doing what you will--none of that colony crap for me! Kingly taxes are for chumps! My crew will sail the seas under many flags and have fun doing so. Now I just need an arch-enemy faction--it's good to be a pirate with enemies! -
Scooby-Doo 2015 Rumours & Discussion
Captain Nemo replied to TheLazyChicken's topic in LEGO Licensed
A delay makes no sense. Does Lego even allow delays? I mean, come on, I've never heard of that happening before--because Lego would never tell us; Lego only shows off what will be coming out soon, never ever anything they are not sure absolutely sure will be on the shelves soon. Lego plans too much for this kind of thing to happen, this late in the game (of the theme). Lego would not delay an entire wave that has already been announced and shown off to the public in it's completed form--boxes and all. There's no way Lego would hold off on it now for a year; as they have everything planned out years in advance for their production schedules anyways. I just don't see it happening. Nothing but vile rumor says I!- 1,699 replies

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Captain Nemo replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
The color used on the exterior of the Milano is actually "bright light orange". I think the color works well and there's really not many better options. Orange seems completely wrong, as does regular yellow. I do suppose dark orange would look well, but it would make the ship look quite bland actually. Personally I think the bright light orange looks great and accurate. Plus it makes the ship bright and fun looking. -
Interesting. It does look like him. The new hair pieice is great. Although I have to say I'm personally disappointed that we are not getting Matt Smith instead--I'm not really a big fan of Capaldi, but I understand why he would be chosen over the other Doctors.

Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Captain Nemo replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
You're both right. That would create tons of story possibilities. I love the idea that the more civilized landlubbers don't trust or believe all the sea stories coming in from the sailors. And the further one sails from land the strangers the seas get! -
Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Captain Nemo replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
No, it is not possible to fit anyone standing with a hair piece (like Black Widow or Iron Man--anything other than a standard minifigure head height, and even then it's a stretch) in the back section, because the roof hangs too low in this area. Really, there is only a 4x4 area for standing too--and a middle/side of that area (2x2) is tiled, so there's no connection point in the center. Which kinda sucks. --- As I have both the Milano and the new Quinjet I think I can help you out with deciding. First, I don't think there is a high chance that this is the last we'll see of either ship. We of course still have more Avengers movies to come, and so I think it's likely we'll see something for the third film (Which I think is a two-parter)--likewise we also have more GotG films coming, and I think we may see another Milano there too. Really I think it may boil down to what you want for the ship. I feel the Quinjet has more swoosh-ability and it's a rather sleek looking design; it's also very devoted towards play features that represent attacking. Milano on the other hand doesn't have too many play features itself, but rather allows far more play within, since the interior is so well done--there's room for all members of the team (assuming you use baby Groot). Personally, I think I like the Milano more--it's larger, has room inside for tons of minifigures (which I always care about), and it feels more complete. Quinjet is great for sure, but to me it feels like it's just missing something. -
Interestingly enough, I was at Walmart today and in their clearance section they randomly had about eight Attack of the Warg sets priced at $35 and one Mirkwood spider set for $20. I don't know where they got them from, since they came out of no where and I've not seen Hobbit or LotR sets there for months; but apparently they've not sold them all--and these are from the last wave!

Today I picked up the new Quinjet--and am rather happy with it. It's a nice set, despite the box art making it seem rather empty--I do have to say the cover for that set just looks empty; it's a very lengthy box with a rather empty looking street on it! But that's minor--the set itself is well designed, with a good number of technic tricks used inside largely for the motorcycle drop. I think that feature works rather well (granted the bike always crashes whenever it lands on the ground...), although it does take up an awful lot of space inside. There is a small section/area in the back with just enough room to fit a standing minifigure (without any hair pieces), but that's about it. I am happy however to see a fire extinguisher included again—I absolutely love that continued feature in the Marvel sets; obviously they care about safety far more than those reckless DC hooligans! I was a surprised at the size or lack of from this set though. This Quinjet is easily the smallest out of the three main Marvel flight vehicles, the old 2012 Quinjet and the Milano; this was a surprise since all three are rather similar in overall shape and in piece count. The Milano actually has less pieces but seems much heftier, which is something I miss on this new Quinjet. I never got a hold of the old version, but this one despite its wing span, clearly seems lighter overall. The colors however are spectacular. Either way, it's a great set. Happy I picked it up. Plus the new Black Widow is to die for. I was unsure about her hair piece, but in person its just amazing. -

I don't think so... One of Waller's first lines as narrator is: "Time to earn those expensive explosive collars I bought you all." She also ends by saying, "Believe me you don't want to wait for my "mind-blowing" motivational speech!" ...so a different kind of inhibitor. -
Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion

This is true. Crowbars can be attached securely to pole objects like lightsaber bars. There are actually two blue crowbars (new in that color I think) being used in a similar fashion on the jeep from the Dilophosaurus set.- 1,412 replies

Shipping a set that large (it's a big box) from Spain to the US would negate any value you'd save from the cheaper price. It would be better in that case to just buy direct from Lego and get a bunch of VIP points (what like $20 worth)--plus I think you'd get free shipping.

Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Captain Nemo replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I have to say I'm super excited about this (I keep saying that!). I've already started building me pirate crew (because you know, Pirates are the best!), and designing a ship for them. I do have some rather general questions that have been coming up in my mind though: 1) Speaking of ships, should we assume all players/members of need one? Just wondering. 2) Is this supposed to be a more fantasy pirate realm or a realistic pirate-like realm? Obviously we are not depicting actual locations like the Caribbean in the golden age of piracy, and we have imagined factions and what not, but how much fantasy are we allowing? GoH for instance can be seen as very fantasy castle, where there are all sorts of creatures running around the kingdoms. Should we assume there is some fantasy element to BoBs--like piratey fantasy; Mermaids, Krakens, tribal curses, etc. I mean I'm imagining my own pirates as both very realistic in terms of their ship (for instance I'm building it to allow as much cargo as possible; to hold not just gold but food for the crew, etc.), but in contrast also fantastical in their appearance and actions. Basically should we strive for storybook or documentary style? This is a question for anyone; it's more of a discussion really. -
Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Captain Nemo replied to adotnamedstud's topic in LEGO Licensed
Lord of the Ring was initially sucessful; and Monster Fighters was wildly successful. But it's always a challenge to try and understand Lego's ideas! I guess they are different! Didn't look up a picture, but they seemed similar in memory--regardless I think a game version would have been better. Having recently rewatched the first Jurassic Park, and having watched the darkened T-Rex attack those kids in that hurricane storm...ah memories...is it too much to ask Lego to make that scene accurate with a brown T-Rex?!- 1,412 replies

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Captain Nemo replied to adotnamedstud's topic in LEGO Licensed
Well those could be largely the same people voting for those Jurassic Park ideas sets... And none of those IP USC sets were made as a result of the similar ideas reaching 10,000 votes. Those were all in production for extended periods as those similar sets gained voting momentum (plus to be honest, none of those examples constitue anything "unique" or unexpected enough to not be chosen at some point by Lego themselves to make sets of--with the exception of the Helicarrier, all those ideas were actually sets years ago). I think in the Helicarrier video, the designer mentions that he was working on the set for well over a year or so. Lone Ranger may be responsible for the rejection of the Western town, but we can all see westerns in general are falling out of favor with the public. Long story short, I don't see any reason to expect a Jurassic USC--it is not an established theme, nor is it a sure thing; Dinos 2012 after all apparently sold poorly. This does have a big movie backing it up, but I doubt Lego would take the added risk of a massive set on such a new untested IP.- 1,412 replies

Jurassic World 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Captain Nemo replied to adotnamedstud's topic in LEGO Licensed
I really cannot see us getting a USC set for the Jurassic line. Most people already feel the World sets are too expensive, so a USC Visitor center (with obligatory T-Rex) would be very expensive--I'm not sure how much of a market there would be for it. It would be cool though. I can see us getting some set with the gate at some point however, since it's easily the most iconic structure from the Jurassic movies. I think the most likely thing we'll get based on the old movies would be a John Hammond minifigure; since he's basically screaming to be the pre-order figure for the Jurassic World game. Speaking about the game--I have to say I'm upset the T-Rex we are physically getting is the old orange and brown rather than the far more accurately colored dark tan/brown/grey T-Rex shown in the teaser (the games always have better designs; it's basically a fact at this point). I never liked the Orange-Rex we were given from the 2012 Dinos; so it's unfortunate that we are getting the same one again, when all the other Dinos got a color swap--so it sucks we didn't get an accurate T-Rex. The problem (for me) now is that regardless of what color I'd prefer, I still want a T-Rex; and I know that if I don't buy that overpriced set he comes in (which is also easily the worst of the wave) I'll have to pay horrendous prices later on just for that iconic dino. Darn.- 1,412 replies

Awesome contest! I'm already in the piratey mood gearing up for BoBS, so adding a space element to that shouldn't be too challenging!

Brethren of the Brick Seas?
Captain Nemo replied to Admiral Croissant's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Those banners look nice; and they could easily be altered with the correct colors and saying. Even a black skull and crossbones version would look nice. But why do we need four banner? If BoBS is getting a special subfourm (like GoH has), it would still only need one banner, unless it'll change during the day. -
I understand why they put Maggie in again; it's because they put normal eyes Maggie in the Simpsons house rather than in the first CMF wave (with the other normal family versions). So unless you were one of the people who bought that set, you only have a scared expression Maggie, rather than a (presumably more desired) normal version. I'm not upset by her inclusion of anything, I just feel like Lego was covering their bases.

Show off your LEGO collection!
Captain Nemo replied to brickpreviews's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That Elves collection is indeed amazing. Is that a custom made mat the sets are placed on? It looks spectacular and blends the sets together in a great way. -
Oh that set looks amazing! But I still have to get the last one! There's so many great details, especially food products. And I absolutely adore printed tile pieces such as news papers and comic books (especially) so I'm just freaking out right now! I will say though that it doesn't seem like a $200 set. It seems much smaller than the Simpson's house. I also dislike the blue tinted windows rather than trans-clear ones; they look too much like the freezer doors in blue. Eeeek! Those the new CMF line is amazing---hopefully I can somehow win a set for free again like the last wave!

DC Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussions
Captain Nemo replied to Ezekiel2517's topic in LEGO Licensed
I just as easily could see us not getting her for a long time unfortunately. Lego does not have a good track record for completing our superhero teams. It took us what, three years to get Green Lantern, and he's a far more well known important character--plus during that time he too had a show on. Marvel has yet to get a White Tiger minifigure for their Ultimate Spider-Man team, and all expectations point to that female figure never showing up. I wouldn't expect Raven to show up in the next way, let alone for years actually. Unfortunately she does seem ripe for a SDCC figure. -
Batman Returns This build was made for the MocAthalon contest over on Mocpages. My team is Cheeseburger Standoff. Anywho, this creation was built for the movie poster category, and depicts none other than the sweet 1992 poster for Batman Returns starring Michael Keaton, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Danny DeVito. More images can be found on the build's Mocpage. The creation is based off this poster: Build Time: 10-15 Hours Enjoy! ~Nemo
