Thanks I'm trying to improve, It's been awhile since I've built anything really. There are actually a few flowers behind the guards this isn't the best shot as it's really a profile build, plus I see Arlinsport as a dreary place. I'll add a different angle, not saying it's great though haha.

It had been about half a year since that fateful day when young Sebastion Clifton had acquired the Saucy Jack from the one and only Lord Pennington, Exchequer of Corrington. The Exchequer had seemingly spontaneously given young Sebastion a man of only 25 his very own ship with a fully payed license, with free rights to rename the vessel and enough money to fund a temporary crew. This transaction is one of the great mysteries of modern Corrington, how a minor noble barely able to get an audience with a government official managed to convince Pennington a well-known tight wad to give him a ship. DSC00419 by Paul Vogel, on Flickr THe rumors are abound as to exactly how Sebastion did it, some say Sebastion beat it out of him, others say he's a bastard son. When asked Sebastion will just say "Pennington has a thing for 'clean' rooms." and leave it at that.

Pennington has decided that the colonies are of top priority to the crown and as such has used his own money to start up a Bank for the people of Arlinsport to hold their wealth on their way to riches and glory. He has spared no expense making sure traditional Corrington foliage adorned the gardens in front of the building along with Ivy and Hemp to ensure it's regal statue. Being a busy man he sent his least favorite painter to the colonies to provide him a picture of the finished construction. DSC00407 by Paul Vogel, on Flickr DSC00408 by Paul Vogel, on Flickr Though, when questioned the painter is said to have told locals Pennington's actual words were, "Why would I ever want to go to that filthy rats nest of a colony with all the peasant.". The truth is still being debated.

The Empire of Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion
Scarst replied to SkaForHire's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A ships type is open to interpretation, the list it's self are templates of what you want your ship to be. That being said if you want to have a cog and call it a bomb ketch no one can really stop you but when it's said and done it's a cog. This may sound disappointing for some people that they don't get to min max their ships stats but the reasoning is to keep it simple at first as there is a decent bit of work each MCRA will entail and we don't want to drive all the leaders nuts. Maxim is right though there is always the ability to upgrade an existing ships license. That being said in the coming months we have plans to release a few new things that will hopefully make up for not being able to tweak your ships stats. Hope this explanation helps.- 897 replies

Challenge IV, Category C explained. RULES THREAD
Scarst replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
*Sorry accidentally posted in wrong thread, I have to many tabs open. -
*Edited to add two pictures and correct spelling (Counter to Lord Dan's and Goliath's Guerillas) There are many tales that circulate the sands of Kaliphlin, whether they be of the Desert King or Lost Vega they capture the minds of all Kaliphlinites. Though there are many legends known only to true Kaliphlinites, this is one such story. The merchants of Kaliphlin have passed down their knowledge to each new generation. All merchants in Kaliphlin know that the Oil Road can be a dangerous place. They know where and when to stop and where to avoid. One such place is where the Oil Road come close to the Arkbri River. Cynthia was a young women from a rich hunting village they survived on the Arkbri River by Trapping, they would often find a prize at least once a week, though with the civil war the game in the area had gotten more restless and therefore more careless, Cynthia’s village was more prosperous than ever. It was one such excursion where Cynthia had gotten separated from her escort and had bandits come upon her, before she could do anything she was quickly saved by a daring soldier who told her He worked for the desert king. Cynthia found this fascinating, she’d decided to make sure he was rewarded by her father the leader of her village. Cynthia: “Thank you very much brave soldier, if you’d escort me back to my village my Father will surely reward you.” Soldier: “Of course Mi’Lady it would be an honor to help you in your time of need”, He said thinking the woman’s father would make a great new ally. Cynthia: “Oh but first, you said you were a soldier for the Desert King?” Soldier: “Yes, the true king of Kaliphlin.” Cynthia nodded. Cynthia: “Oh but there is a group of dwarves over to the west a ways they’ve been on our land stealing resources, word has it they are from Ulandis, I’m sure you’d be able to handle a few small dwarves I’ll show you where they are.” Soldier: “I would be more than happy to deal with your Dwarven Scum problem, just make sure to stay behind me I couldn’t bare the thought of you being hurt.” Cynthia nodded as she guided the Soldier towards the Dwarven camp. DSC_2061 by scarst21, on Flickr DSC_2062 by scarst21, on Flickr DSC_2063 by scarst21, on Flickr Soldier: “Stop right there Ulandis scum!”, the soldier shouted as he approached the barren camp, the other dwarves had just left to haul off more oil. Dwarf: “Oi! If it ain’t a dust bag lover.”, the dwarf said in a gruff voice brandishing his sword getting ready to fight. Soldier: “You’ll regret the day you sided with those water logged devils!”, the soldier rebutted. Cynthia had decided this was enough. The two seemed more likely to stand there all day insulting each other than fighting, so she decided to take action. Cynthia: “Oh boys!”, she called out as both the dwarf and soldier turned. The soldier let out a loud cry and the usually overly talkative dwarf was stunned speechless. DSC_2065 by scarst21, on Flickr Their bodies slowly turned to stone as the Gorgons gaze took hold of them. DSC_2069 by scarst21, on Flickr DSC_2072 by scarst21, on Flickr As the transformation completed she gazed at her lovely new additions to her collections, her hunt had been more successful than she’d imagined. She’d just have to wait for the rest of the dwarves to come back and she’d have a complete set! damsel by scarst21, on Flickr

Just Hangin' Around (GA:C3 High Council Vs. Desert King
Scarst posted a topic in Guilds of Historica
Gregory Tumaldris was a simple man, he made his living in the the Wither Woods repairing carts that inevitably broke down around his home. He'd almost had it to a science the travelers would always overestimate the durability of their wagon and the reliability of the Oil road. He could have tried to fix the road but no one would pay him for that and besides that was Eastgates problem, when repair jobs were sparse he took to trapping, it wasn't glamorous but it fed his wife and kids. That was until the war came... Gregory could barely find a rabbit within three kilometers the Desert King had rose and with him so had Gregory's misfortune, he and many other folk of the Wither Woods started suffering under the armies of the Desert King occupying their land, eating their food, scaring away any business that might happen down the road. They'd had enough, Gregory and other folks like him decided to strike back! DSC_2027 by scarst21, on Flickr This was the third one this week for Gregory, He'd take any good he thought were valuable and pool them with a stash that a few able bodied men would take to Eastgate to sell to merchants for a bit of coin. Gregory wouldn't pretend what he was doing was right but it was just.- 7 replies

Petera saw Lord Kar’dani's plan as craven and Stupid, the High council had been supplying him with food, supplies, and protection for years and this was how he thanked them with a contest for his loyalty. Petera thought about just killing Kar'dani but thought better of this, He could use this. Petera called one of his most faithful assassins into his chambers. Petera: Ra'zeed, I have a job for you. Ra'zeed: ... Petera: Quiet as usual. Well no matter, Lord Kar'dani is selling his loyalty to the best fighter. Ra'zeed: ... Petera: I know, I don't care either. But others will, the Ulandians and the desert king will send many warriors to gain his loyalty. Ra'zeed: ... Petera: This is where you come in. You are going to kill them all destroy their elites before they can make it on the real battlefield and if we win back that cowards loyalty it's a bonus. Ra'zeed: As you wish. Ra'zeed is known only for his unique weapon, a spear with a chain, and the way he leaves most of his victims with a crushed larynx. DSC_2017 by scarst21, on Flickr DSC_2016 by scarst21, on Flickr

A King Reborn (Challenge IV Prelude, Chapter 18)
Scarst replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
As has been said The Desert King never actually took over Nocturnus he inherited it from his succession. What he did was try to stablize the three kingdoms. Really the only classification of monster he falls into is the literal kind as he is everliving, not dead but has been dead and by that definition technically ska's Dugal could be considered the same, and then there are the mountain mummies. But as far as rulers go most empires have defining leaders that brought them to a pinnacle, if not in one life time in a string of 2 or 3 rulers. -

The Loyalty of Gnomes: From the Field Report of Alfred Picklefield Blue Guards 2nd Company I'd heard the right flank grow silent, I wasn't sure what it meant but after whatever exploded on the left flank I was more than uneasy at any change in the status quo. I'd seen the arrows exchanged in volleys over the desert sand but with the mass of cavalry and an elephant on the road I had no way of telling if either ever hit their mark. I knew I'd have to concentrate on the line in front of me, even though I wasn't in the fight yet it was only a matter of time before one of my fellow blue guards would fall and I'd be taking his place, this strategy has been in place ever since Al'Leden took over control of the Blue Guard and I can't say I like it but I have to follow orders, even if they do mean our Casualty rate has rise from twenty-five percent to forty-five, I do question the decisions of who ever decided to allow him to buy this commision though. I didn't have long to ponder as one of my comrades fell before me I steped into battle next to a gnome wearing weilding a short sword, I'd been told by the others they were creepy but in that moment I could see past their weird behavior and see that they were giving their all for the cause they were hired. It wasn't long after I'd stepped into the line until I heard a scream come from a man only a few Yards away from me, I managed to see it was Torgonius, he'd been dealth a fatal blow, his men looked worried and defeated at the sight of their leader on the ground bleeding. I could relate I've seen many friends die and wouldn't wish it upon anyone, although I would have never in a million years have expected what happened next. DSC_3691 by skaforhire, on Flickr The leader of the gnomes about three men down from me heard the scream of Torgonius who'd employed him, and flew into a terrible murderous rage, he started swinging his maces around and beating into the helmets and skulls of the Red guard along the line, with in seconds he'd killed three and was at the man in front of me, and with a rather high pitched voice he barked out,"Help me or get out of my way!" as he beat in the skull of them man in front of me with surprising force. DSC_3711 by skaforhire, on Flickr With each swing of his maces he got faster doing things with maces I never thought possible he split the next man in line in half with the chain connecting the ball. He was a gnome on a mission. DSC_3712 by skaforhire, on Flickr He had single handedly cleaved through half the Red Guards line before his maces stopped spinning, I'd thought he had warn himself out but I was wrong he'd only just started as he began swinging them over his head jumping body to body as he made his way down the enemy line, He managed to kill three quarters of the line by himself before he stopped, He'd secured Torgonius' body as one of the scarlet ladies ran up to heal him, This gnome, Gibblestomp as I later learned his name, was covered in so much blood I failed to realize that a lot of it was his, while he'd managed to rout the whole enemy line he ended being stabbed several times, in his bid to save his employers life. DSC_3713 by skaforhire, on Flickr DSC_3714 by skaforhire, on Flickr DSC_3715 by skaforhire, on Flickr DSC_3716 by skaforhire, on Flickr A gnome that had nothing to gain from saving his employers life risked his, and broke the enemy line doing so, a more noble act I don't believe I will ever seen for the rest of my life. I heard from the other men after the battle they were not sure if Torgonius would make it, I hope Gibblestomp's actions were not in Vain. (Torgonius was dealt fatal damage at the end of the battle, which means he would technically be dead and need to be revived, by magic but as it was in the last few turns and a Scarlet Lady was near along with Gibblestomp wiping out anyone that would be a threat to immediately healing him, we decided that he was able to be saved, since you said he'd be allowed to die it's your call what happens to him Hammerhand)- 318 replies

Garret Hailfist's Battle Log: Men of Pride and Honor I'd heard of the turmoil in Kaliplin just two months ago the lords of Eastgate fighting fighting over the control of their city, the second brother betrayal of the eldest and the thirds attempt to win back the city, News to our island travels slow and without the standard Gear trade ships coming to harbor it got to us even slower. It all seemed rather bogged in politics, until I'd heard how Petera betrayed Dugal in foul magics. Even before I'd gotten all the details I knew I'd be joining this conflict on one side or another, Eastgate and Gear Co. helped us at Khordeem, and a man always repays his debts. I knew I'd be with Dugal and his men against Petera arguably the strongest Magic weilder in existance, I only knew of one person that could possibly help us when the time came, he'd been living in seclusion for nearly 10 years only coming to town once every few months for supplies and never talking to anyone, the last words he said to me were right before we rushed off to Khordeem as he gave our Mage a length of rope and told me he'd be able to perform the summonings alone with it's use, A most reclusive man. Rumors in Skaraen started to spread that I'd be leaving for Eastgate, Firo couldn't keep his damn mouth shut he's been Captain of the Guard for nearly to Years and doesn't understand the lethality of Gossip. Darren Longshot and his friends came up to me asking to come along, I could tell Darren was excited he'd heard Jakon would be there a few days earlier and had been talking about Khordeem since, I tried to persuade them not to come but I can't make anyone do anything these days it seems, with no official post since I retired my words only carry senority. Three of the town guards including Darren decided they were going to volunteer their services to Dugal, while it was noble I hope they don't regret their actions. I managed to sneak away from the town a week before departure to seek out the man most of the town calls an old hermit, the truth is something significantly different. As I approached his shack the door swung open revealing something beyond my imagination, a staircase leading down into a spacious series of corridors and rooms all with open doors, I'd manage to peek into each door seeing bedrooms, kitchens, armories, just before they'd close on their own as I'd walk past (I may make this MoC in the future, for now it's for story progression) each closing door causing me to walk further down the corridors until I would find a door that wouldn't shut to lead me down a different hall, after what seemed like an hour the halls lead me to a large study, and at the back of the room there sat the man his face in a book shadowed over by grand bookcases. As I took steps closer the man looked up and with a solemn look he said, "I've been expecting you." A week later I waited for him at the dock to depart, he seemed to know the prediciment better than I and argeed to help me, stating he had his own reasons for needing to stop Petera. fifteen minutes before we were to make sail he arrived, we we off to the mainland to make our way to Khaliplin. We'd traveled to the oil road through the desert, Darren constantly talking my ear off about all the things he planned on doing, the others anxiously fiddling with their bows hanging on his every word. Not fifteen minutes after we started traveling towards Eastgate did I see Dugals forces marching towards us, After I was met by a scout, I told him I needed to talk to Dugal, he kept trying to correct me by saying "Lord Dugal", but I told him to just take me to him and I have no time for titles. Fifteen minutes later Dugal came riding over to me Axe in hand, asking my business with him and why it was so urgent. I told him I'd like to talk alone with him, but he brought Paulos, I decided it wouldn't hurt, I told him I was their to help them and they told me about the upcoming battle with Petera's forces trying to pincer the seige, it was at this point the mage spoke up to Dugal, "My names Lucent Dreher and I'm going to help you win this battle.", he said as he pointed to the river with a smile and asked Dugal how many ships he thought could fit in the width of the River and which ones he knew of their locations. The sun was climbing the skies when we saw the first hint of Peteras forces I was placed along with my archers Near Jakons forces and some yeti's, And Darren wont shut up, he's gotten even more insufferable since he learned what part of the line he'd be on. DSC_1311 by skaforhire, on Flickr The onset of the battle was slow, but we were some of the first to see action due to one of the enemies mages dropping a whole division in front of us, before that only one of our rogue mages was in battle seemingly teleporting his whole company right into a group of berserkers known for being incredibly brutal. it wasn't long before these events triggered full scale charges on both sides. DSC_3385 by skaforhire, on Flickr We were in the heat of it, when I heard Lucent yell out to me I was needed else where, I called my horse and felt myself being spirited away by magic, and as soon as my vision cleared something caught my, a Sword I was all to familiar with, but it disappeared in the confusion as another division of footmen were on me, no more than a few moments later did I feel a familiar pull, I realized this must be what Lucent meant, I'd felt this before only two times and knew what it meant, someone was about to die. My vision cleared once again revealing the familiar dimension of death, a plane of existance which only purpose is for death, the man across from me was wearing the Kings armor, he yelled I'd killed his son, I vaguely recognized his voice one i'd not heard in nearly five years since Khordeem, before I could say much he Lunged at me. planar combat 2 by skaforhire, on Flickr We were embroiled a fight of not only swords but words. He blamed me for the death of his son that fateful day he decided to break flank. I do not regret my decision to not follow him that day as it would have been a fools errand. "You're the reason my son is dead", Cried Fenghen as he swung his sword, I parried and held it out of the way long enough to launch a bolt into his side. "Your own pride was the cause of your sons death." I replied to the angered Fenghen. "You have no Honor! You are no knight" Fenghen Screamed as he Swung his sword down at me again fighting only on anger. I took the opportunity to reload my crossbow as he failed his sword in rage. I unleashed a shot dislodging helmet lock from his breast plate. and swung to jostle him in his armor. "I never claimed to be a knight nor would I want that title, if it put me into a catagory with you." I replied, angering the already preturbed Fenghen, into a full on swing opening up his guard for me to launch another bolt into his side. "I will avenge my son!", Fenghan yelled as he swung again the ground ever crumbling and rebuilding around us as we did the dance of death in this crooked dimesion. We'd keep fighting until one of us stopped drawing breath. I saw my opening as his armor jostled while he madly swung another blow at me, I took it instantly running him through with my sword I replied, "No you're pride killed your son.", as I pulled my sword from his body and watched him fall to the crumbling ground. planar combat 3 by skaforhire, on Flickr I saw the life leave his eyes and shortly after his body vanish, knowing my body would leave this dimension soon enough as the dimension's wish had been granted. DSC_3540 by skaforhire, on Flickr As the Dimension faded away my vision cleared yet again to reveal that familiar sword once again. ~To be continued.- 318 replies

You'll see it later it took two turns to bring in ships much like the portal with the army then the luck dragon, so the Rocket launcher ship actually came in on the second turn of summoning I just wrote a little ahead of the pictures, on another note we just finished the battle tonight, we have a lot of reports to write as we didn't write many main features including some deaths. I'd say there are at least 5 characters on Dugals side that will write at least one report and a few on Peteras, as the middle of the battle field hasn't been well covered. As well as some characters that were allowed to be killed surrendered due to overwhelming odds so we will be having prisoner of war MoC's, as the victors will revive anyone they deem profitable.- 318 replies

Sergio's Battle Log: Pt. 1 I was wrong about so many things, I wasn't expecting Petera to be able to open up a portal behind our lines, the only thing that has kept them at bay seems their need for wanton destruction, these chaotic little bastards of creatures. It was going well until that damned portal. At the beginning we'd advanced with the yeti Mark and Jakon pushing back waves of mercenaries by themselves Al'Leden's contingent we'd had edeployed over here taking care of the rising undead some bastard petera hired kept summoning, The Death Angels took heavy losses but kept going and dug into the line, as one would expect from their reputation, We'd all but won the line when the portal appeared, despite a puzzling development with that mage Garret brought, He hadn't said one word on the battlefield until this point, when He yelled to Garret, "You're needed in the East" and within seconds Garret and his horse were gone teleported away without so much as an explanation. To this point He'd all but deflected every spell that came our way shrugging them away like they were nothing, I have no clue who this man is but he can't be just some hedge mage Garret found. My suspicions were confirmed, only moments after the large portal closed, Dugal the Alleenriders a band of travelers who decided to join our fight and myself had advanced up to the line I'd yet to engage but the series of events to come would leave me no choice but to change that. As we were heading to the front line The mage started to move, away from the his position on the river, he then turned around and rose his hands slowly. DSC_3549 by skaforhire, on Flickr As he rose his hands a large whirlpool the size of four houses appeared in the rivers and out of them came four boats, The first was manned By the Fabled Ghost Stone Dwarves, I've only heard rumors of their abilities but if it's true their blades made of Ghost ore allow them to travel anywhere unhindered, and even walk through walls Their clan has kept the secret location of the mine hidden for over 200 years. Among them Was a man I actually know quite well as I designed his weapon, a man named Gillette, He's one of Gears elites, a master of Arms he came to me asking for a challenging weapon to master, so i built him the Three bladed Scythe each blade only a hairs breathe away from the next, with a powerful swing the weapon will trisect any enemy, I can only hope he's mastered it by now. DSC_1429 by skaforhire, on Flickr The second Ship Belonged to the Crescent Thorn Elves, and on it was a squad of archers and one of their enforcers, I can't say I know much about them but they are supposed to be good shots, I hope they live up to that reputation. DSC_1421 by skaforhire, on Flickr The third ship was an amazing surprise this mage had moved not only two transport ships but one of Gears most infamous ships, The Endora, the crew are some of gears Highest earning acquistions officers. And their ship is said to be one of the fastest on the seas. DSC_1423 by skaforhire, on Flickr The last ship was Almost more surprising than the Endora, I can only reason this is the result of the mages disappearance, The ship had a dwarven rocket launcher attached to the port side and a steady crew to man it, When I saw this turn of event I was filled with relief but that wouldn't last. I turned to Dugal and Asked, "Who is this man", And Dugal only Replied, "If we live the new Headmaster of the Eastgate College of Magic." ~ To be Continued...- 318 replies

I guess I should get Writing but to answer a few questions, most of your troops, TUB, are unconscious the wizard is up and alive and that's about it, if I can make an advance in the middle and retrieve guys there is a chance heisen will rejoin the fight, Gleambeam will not, as I can't risk another random teleport, that's not to say he isn't alive, just that he is better off unconscious. To answer the question of who's writing for who, I always am writing for Dugals side, while ska is switching back and forth. With that I'll start writing the next bit and hope I don't double post.- 318 replies
