  1. That is all extremely well put, Aanchir. I too believe that sticker's aren't always as terrible as we make them out to be, particularly if TLG is gracious enough to include the better looking clear-backed stickers in a set. The unfortunate fact remains though that stickers aren't as durable as printed parts.
  2. Thanks for catching me-- I was only thinking of licensed themes.
  3. As happy as I would be for a LotR and Hobbit license from Lego, it's already difficult to narrow down my collecting focus to just 2-3 lines. My main focus will always be Star Wars, but PotC and the new Super Heroes line are very appealing. Darn it, Lego!! Too many cool licensed themes...
  4. As far as System-scale Falcons go, this one takes the trophy. I won't be buying it, as I'm working on piecing together a UCS Millennium Falcon at the moment. But I will be looking to buy the great minifigs. To me, if you combine 7965's minifigs (along with the droids) with 10179, you've got the ultimate Falcon.
  5. I'd be in for a B-Wing if it includes minifigs and is to scale.
  6. Cool that it's available! But I have no need to rush out and get it. It'll be available for a few years, that's plenty of time to wait it out for a sale.
  7. A bit off topic, but you're kidding right? Star Wars is Lego's biggest seller, with The Clone Wars series having a HUGE following in the 6-14 year old boys demographic. Lego Clone Wars isn't going away anytime soon. I personally hope PotC will stick around for at least one more wave, but my gut feeling tells me that the Black Pearl will be the last set of the line. It's a shame, there's still so much ground to cover. There hasn't been a single set from At World's End.
  8. I love looking at comparison pictures like that, it's amazing how far Lego SW has come in such a relatively short amount of time. The thing is, I can't really picture Lego SW looking any better 10 years from now. You get to a point where going any more lifelike would risk losing that unique "Lego-like" quality.
  9. Hm...very interesting! There's been rumors of a UCS B-Wing, but I'd be interested to see what the R2-D2 is all about.
  10. Over $11,000!!! Holy cow, possible the worst Lego-related scam I've ever seen. One for the history books!
  11. Definitely a scam!! The weird thing is the seller's been on Ebay since 2007...?
  12. Sorry, but we've got to put this one to rest (I've seen it mentioned elsewhere also). The Swoop bike does appear in ANH:
  13. That is absolutely AWESOME!!!
  14. Great review of a very underrated set, in my opinion! Considering the fact that it can be combined with prior Hoth Base sets, I think they'll look great together. Come to think of it, are there any pictures out there of this set combined with 7666?
  15. Awesome review! A remake of the Podracers was #1 on my most-wanted list for a long time, and boy does this deliver. Apart from the horrendous amount of stickers, it's an amazing set. You're wrong about Wald being an "unwanted minifigure" though. He's definitely a welcome addition in my collection.
  16. From my experience with Amazon, their discounts are pretty random. This set has sold pretty well for them too, so I wouldn't bank on any big discounts. I'd keep an eye on Ebay also. I was able to score my Death Star a few months ago for $370 shipped.
  17. One of the best reviews I've ever seen, well done BrickDoctor. This is a great set, and I was lucky enough to use Ebay Rewards to pick it up at a bargain price ($55 shipped). At first I didn't think the office was the best feature to have in the main body of the ship. But now I honestly think it's better than a simple hallway, which would have seemed too cramped in a ship this size. All in all a very good representation of the Tantive IV, perhaps the only System version we'll get (and I'm perfectly fine with that!).
  18. This probably belongs in the "Dream Licenses" thread. Not to mention a Lego theme based on a heavy-R rated franchise...?
  19. Those pieces are from Clone Wars sets, actually. I agree. I'm a big fan of Tatooine-related sets myself, and Luke's Landspeeder is one of my all-time favorites. For just $25, you get an iconic vehicle and several great minifigures.
  20. So I was just thinking about this set and it finally occurred to me what was off about it. Qui-Gon is in his normal Jedi gear, NOT his Tatooine disguise. Seriously, would it have been that hard for Lego to include a poncho and be accurate to the original scene? We already have a perfect poncho from the collectible Mexican minifig, just make it in tan.
  21. I give my support to Battle of Endor as well. Pick it up now at retail price while you still can, it's bound to soar in price once it's retired.
  22. Yep, C6 is still over a year away.
  23. That's a great looking diorama!
  24. Posted this in the 2011 thread also, but the regular version of the advent calendar is now available from Amazon here in the U.S.!
  25. Just a heads up, but the Advent Calendar is now available from Amazon in the U.S.
