Definitely go for the Technic connector with the slot; it was officially included in 10179 after the first run I believe. Same goes for the 6L "Umbrella stand" piece, it'll save you money.

Key word right there.

Oxus, are you trying to say that the set should be released again because it's gone beyond the $1K mark? It seems like a pretty moot argument to me to complain about the current secondary market price. There isn't anything we can do about that, as it's simply a result of current supply and demand for the set.

I think AndyC hit it right on the head. It's not that anyone is saying "Well, if you missed out then that's too bad - you're fault." Speaking from experience as someone who was in my "Dark Ages" during the release window for 10179. However, I just recently finished piecing the set out through Bricklink and Lego and, $600 or so later, can now say I'm a proud owner of the set. The bottom line is that if someone wants the set badly enough like I did, there are still ways to go about getting it. Is it more difficult? Yeah. But that's the nature of the collecting game, whether it's Lego, action figures, baseball cards, whatever. I don't think the high aftermarket price is reason for us to lobby for a re-release of the set. I was of the same opinion a year ago, when parting out the set hadn't even crossed my mind and I was convinced I would never have it. There are still lots of sets out there that I would love to have but never had a chance to buy. It's just the nature of the game.

I would be very surprised if 10179 is remade. With the current cost-per-piece ratio for most Star Wars sets pushing $.14 or more, it would be at least $700.

Nice review! Those are some great, crystal clear shots of the set as well. I'm hoping to pick this one up soon. Although it's one of the smaller sets of the wave, it's one of my favorites.

I scored the Black Pearl from Amazon yesterday! Between Amazon's 20% off discount, a $50 gift card, and some Discover rewards, I only spent about $24. -
Keep in mind that the original sticker sheet had a typo on it, so you might be able to just get them to send you the new "corrected" version. That's what they were willing to do for me.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

I agree as well. It's time to send out the Death Star and bring on a new "Ultimate" playset. Perhaps Lego can give everyone a 6 months notice, and then pull production on 10188 in July. That was everyone who wants one can stop procrastinating and get one. -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors

The summer wave sounds like it's going to be a hit! The only things I'm disappointed with concern Jabba's Palace: (1) the lack of more alien minifigs, (2) a Rancor Pit add-on doesn't sounding too likely, and (3) the use of the round tile for both the entry droid and thermal detonator. They should have done the same thing as last time for the gate droid: Technic ball joint. -
Do we know that either of the Batman polybags are Target exclusives? I assume that one of them is, but I don't recall hearing word either way.

From Death Star II to Minifig - a Journey through Scale

That is awesome!! It's fun to see how each model relates to one another in terms of sheer size. -
I scored the new Anakin's Podracer mini at Toys R Us today! My first 2012 Star Wars set.

Dang it...I'm pretty disappointed that this is a TRU exclusive. -
He said Amidala, not Padme. So he's right in that Queen Amidala has never been made as a minifig.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
The_Chosen_1 replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah I agree. The set is called "Palpatine's Arrest", which strongly implies the scene with Mace and the other Jedi, not Yoda. -
Yeah! I got mine directly from Lego also. I'm glad I'm not the only one who had that issue. I nearly bent one of the levers trying to get it off; it was quite a challenge to get them on straight the first time.
-
Are you implying that the Mortis arc was bad? I have to disagree with you wholeheartedly there. That story arc featured some of the deepest themes of the entire series. In fact, despite the political nature of some episodes in the series, the series as a whole has gotten exponentially better the past few seasons. George, by the way, has always been creatively involved in the series. I wouldn't take this announcement of his "retirement" from feature films to mean less of an involvement on TCW.

That's a great idea using the "Sleepy Kid" collectible minifig hair for Drake!

One thing I noticed about the light bluish grey levers that I used on my 10179 was how tight they fit on the studs. They were actually pretty difficult to remove at times. Did anyone else encounter this?

[MOC] A Jedi Exile's life after Order 66

Great idea! One of the best SW vignettes I've seen. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but there are some really powerful emotional undertones present there. -
Great observation! It looks like we've been able to do the OT one for quite some time now (at least with the minifigures, not counting the Death Star). But it only took 13 years after The Phantom Menace to do Episode I!

Haha! You've got me there. I forgot the important fact that TLG doesn't seem to care which minifigs make sense anymore (ala next summer's Gungan Sub w/ Queen Amidala). -
Funny commercial! My wife loves dogs, so she really enjoyed this. It's good to see that VW is carrying on with their Star Wars partnership.
