  1. Awesome! Looks like a new sword mold, indeed. I'm not as impressed with the facial likeness on Legolas as Aragorn, but he still looks good.
  2. I agree with your points, Lego-Freak. From a marketing standpoint, it doesn't make a lot of sense not to include desirable minifigures in expensive sets. Often times that's their biggest selling point. That said, I think there's a lot of potential for Lego to release army-builder type minifigs in a CM line (e.g., orcs, Rohan soldiers, etc.).
  3. Very nicely done! I especially love the customized computer displays.
  4. Looks great so far! Like someone said above, I would reduce the height by one plate. But the vertical alignment is just about perfect. I think the main problem with the System scale Falcons is the alignment between the mandibles and the body of the ship. Maybe that can be your next challenge...
  5. According to Brickipedia: At least one set based on the The Dark Knight Rises film is expected to be released in the summertime of 2012 as part of the Super Heroes theme. Take it for what you will, but I seem to remember a flier for TDKR a few months ago that featured the licensees, LEGO being one of them. Does anyone who knows what I'm referring to have a link to that picture?
  6. If I remember correctly, Padme was featured more heavily in the Malevolence story arc than Ahsoka was. So from a purely canonical point of view, it makes more sense to feature Padme in the set instead of Ahsoka.
  7. Personally, I'm hoping for the ring piece to be exactly that--a ring, preferably in chrome gold. It would be a shame for these to turn into "Lord of the Printed Round Tile" sets.
  8. If you're only interested in the minifigure, I agree with what Hollander says here. But the best thing about Lego in general is that an older set doesn't necessarily become obsolete once a newer version is released. You can just disassemble it and add the pieces to your collection! You're question is pretty vague. Are you trying to ask whether you should save money and buy 10188, or buy other, smaller Lego sets instead? As someone who owns 10188, I can say that it's well worth every penny I paid for it. If you're willing to sacrifice other Lego purchases for what is guaranteed to be a collection centerpiece, I'd say go for it.
  9. Nice review! I would have preferred a Mini Landspeeder with the new Tatooine Luke minifig, but the pod is well done.
  10. I picked up the T-6 Jedi Shuttle at Target this morning for $41.98 (30% off). Not too shabby, considering I haven't seen it on clearance anywhere else.
  11. I estimated mine at 70-79%. My main focus is Star Wars, but I also venture into other licensed themes from time to time. Currently I own Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Toy Story, Cars, Harry Potter, and (soon) Super Heroes sets.
  12. ...Only that's not a Weequay. It's a Klatooinian.
  13. Dang it.... The pod was my favorite of the 4, so I was hoping it wouldn't be a TRU exclusive. I guess we'll be forking over the additional $1 in "TRU tax" to get this.
  14. All in all I'd say these look pretty good! I guess I can live with the oversized Iron Man head as long as the detailing is accurate.
  15. If that were true, it actually *might* change my opinion of this minifig choice...
  16. Unless you're willing to drop that much cash on the manual, it's really not needed. I simply downloaded a PDF copy from Lego and had it pulled up on my laptop while building. Not only was it cheaper, but much easier to build the model without having a massive instruction manual to deal with.
  17. At least Santa Yoda had some kind of legitimate inspiration (the Ralph McQuarrie Christmas art), but now it looks like they're just pulling stuff out of their butts. The could have at least kept with the McQuarrie trend and done Santa C-3PO or holiday Jawas...
  18. Oops...I hope I didn't mislead anyone by my earlier post. I meant to say "lost parts" instead of "missing parts". Lobot is absolutely right in that TLG will send out an email telling you to contact the store for large missing parts order. You want to be sure and use the "Lost a Part" option.
  19. That sounds promising, Macoco! We can only wait and see...
  20. Lego usually responds within 1-2 days with a price quote for missing parts. The levers are used for the outside greebling, or about 1/3 of the way through the instructions. One thing I did was figure out which elements would be difficult to track down in as few BL orders as possible (i.e. if I would have to place orders from several different stores just to obtain all of one piece). I would then get a price quote on that piece from Lego. Sometimes Lego's prices are quite a bit higher than Bricklink, but sometimes not-- a few good examples being the Trans-Dark Blue 1x2 plates, 3x2 Light Bluish Grey wedges, or the Yellow Technic 5x5 Right Angle brick.
  21. This is terrible news, if it's true that PotC is done with. Looking at all 9 sets released so far, to me they don't represent what Lego is capable of doing with this line... So many important/major characters that we'll never see...
  22. How that old version could ever pass as an R5 unit is beyond me... Great pic, smokebelch!!
  23. I agree! It's a shame that we didn't see a single set released from TFU 2.
  24. Great review, thanks! This is a fantastic set, one of the best in this wave IMO. I would gladly pay full retail for this one, but will most likely wait for a sale.
