LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
The_Chosen_1 replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
There are several good ideas here, most of which would make good sets. I'm not a fan of the "full size lightsaber" idea (not something I'd regret not buying at all, I've already got an FX lightsaber). Unless TLG finds a way to improve the chrome bricks, a Royal Starfighter just wouldn't stand the test of time. Most people I know who own the UCS Naboo Fighter have experienced the chrome chipping. I definitely wouldn't want that to any degree, let alone an all-chrome model. Jabba's Palace, Cloud City, and new sets from AOTC all sound great to me. I really hope that the "playthemes" referred to by Capt. Kirk mean that more location-based sets are on their way for the Star Wars line. *ahem* Tatooine!! *ahem* -

I don't think he means a Leia with a medal. Obviously that didn't happen, but rather a Leia in ceremonial dress. She's the only logical choice left for medal ceremony minifigs, although General Dodonna would be more than welcome. -

Attack of the Clones must-have sets: -Something from Coruscant (either a new chase scene, Dex's Diner, or the Outlander Club) -New Tatooine set (throw a hat on the new Watto minifig and dirty him up a bit: *voila!* new minifig) -Something from Kamino -

We definitely need some more AOTC sets. We haven't seen any System-style sets from it in almost 10 years...! -

I agree. To me it looks just "ok", the grey detailing is cool but I'm definitely not liking the half-circle cockpit. It sticks out way too much! -
LEGO's Comic Con Poster Details Padawan Menace Blu-ray

That little piece of history has very little to do with this minifig, though. Unless Han was flying TIE's as a 7 year old... -
LEGO Superheroes 2012 Rumours & Discussion

Only the Marvel minifigs appear to be movie tie-ins. The DC minifigs look very much inspired by the comics and animation, just like the old Batman line was. -
I agree, a staggered release of different scenes in the base would have been great. There's still the chance they could do that with a different location (ie. Jabba's Palace).

I may be in the vast minority, but I'm actually excited about this set. A "definitive" Echo Base would be difficult to make anyway, seeing as there is very little reference (if any) that shows where different areas of the base are in relation to one another. The features are pretty lame, but for trying to give us as much of Echo Base as possible in a $100-range set it's not bad. Just my opinion. I do agree with one thing though, these stickers need to STOP!!! I for one would be willing to pay the extra money per set in order to get rid of the darn things!

That looks different from official pictures we've seen so far. I'm thinking MOC on this one...

It's cool seeing the minifigs and all, but I also hope we get a first look at the DC January sets as well. That will be the main selling point on whether I get any of these or not. -

Can't wait for this! Only one more day! -
If Lego is listening, please, PLEASE just make the Iron Man helmet a normal minifig helmet!

MARVEL TOO?!?!?! Holy $#!*!! I guess we know which booth will be absolutely BUZZING with excitement this weekend. Lego is now set to take over the toy industry, mark my words.
-
This is INCREDIBLE news!!!! I was one who missed out on the original Batman sets as well, but I definitely won't make the same mistake again (assuming the sets are just as good). If anything makes me more excited than Batman returning, it's....SUPERMAN!! I've been considering buying a custom Superman minifig and neon green crystal (for kryptonite), but now it looks like I'll get the real thing instead. Awesome.
-
Very interesting! I'm holding out hope that we'll see a resurrection of not only the Batman line, but Indiana Jones as well. Batman especially is one that I'm sad I missed the boat on.
-
One can only hope!! There are so many possibilities for modular/location type sets within the Star Wars line. It's a real shame TLG hasn't taken full advantage of that yet.

[MOC] "Micro Collection" Death Star Escape
The_Chosen_1 replied to BaronSat's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Very cool!! That's a fantastic reproduction. It would be awesome to see Lego take a cue from something like this. Maybe they could design a future Ewok Village set, based on the original Kenner playset. -
The Toys R Us markups are absolutely ridiculous. Not as bad as some stores like ShopKo ($60 Wampa Cave? $100 Slave 1??? Please...) but it's still a despicable business practice. I wish LEGO would stop partnering with them and encouraging it.

That's great!!! Definitely a must-have. It reminds me of a Haynes manual AT-AT T-shirt that I once got from Next.

I have to agree with you, Stout. Gotta be careful when something gets too out of control, no matter what it is. The great thing about big sets is that they make an impressive centerpiece to a collection. I decided to get 10188 and did what was necessary (saving, selling a few other things from my SW collection) in order to get it. I still haven't built it yet, but was it worth it? Definitely....a set like that is worth the sacrifice of not getting smaller sets if necessary. Keep in mind this is just my opinion. As for my story: I'm 22, newly married (2 months!) and working toward a business management degree. I LOVED Lego as a kid, and was an avid Lego SW collector from the time they were announced to about age 16. I had amassed quite a big collection with a lot of impressive sets for a kid that age (Cloud City, UCS Yoda, 4483 AT-AT, etc.). I shared my collecting interests with Star Wars action figures, however, and eventually sold ALL my Lego in one big lot. I was happy at the time since it helped to fund my other collecting interests, but always kept an eye on what was new in Lego SW. Flash forward to about two years ago, when I was in the Times Square Toys R Us during a visit to New York. Maybe it was just the excitement of being there in the impressive Lego section, not having bought a set in years...something. But I picked up a few Indiana Jones sets. Slowly my interest in Lego peaked again, and I was back in. I now focus mostly on Star Wars, with a good helping of Indiana Jones and Disney sets sprinkled in. I've been selling off other pieces in my collection to fund my resurrected Lego hobby. We'll just say I've spent way too much over the past 6 months... All I can say is: It's good to be back!!! -

I've really been looking forward to this ever since word broke a few weeks ago. It should be awesome!! With an Emmy-award winner attached to the project, it should be good. -
Keep an eye on Ebay, that's where I got mine about a month ago for $370 shipped.

Excellent MOC! You did a fantastic job of keeping the proportions/angles etc. true to the original. I stick with the idea that Lego needs to make something Star Tours related. It would definitely sell.
