  1. Indeed, which is why I always switch to discover and filter only project ideas. Unfortunately the default ideas homepage can get flooded, and projects can get missed by the inexperienced/lazy/impatient viewer Glad this finally got there. It was almost as touch and go as a TV drama.
  2. It’s one of the contests running at the moment.
  3. Last pieces finally arrived today... Note: Cat and minifigure for scale
  4. Just a few more parts remaining to be delivered, but it is all working out perfectly. It is well balanced, and the modules connect well together:
  5. Superb choice here, all more than worthy of a mention in my opinion (and all supported too)
  6. I had somebody comment on the LEGO Ideas page of my modular starfighter suggesting that a miniature version would be great, so I took up the challenge:
  7. Buildwise it has been fairly smooth so far. I did make some alterations to how the wings attached to the cockpit as I felt the initial design was too weak. The only hurdles I’ve had to deal with are obtaining certain parts. I’ve been making the odd change here and there, swapping in more accessible items. This has caused the project to take longer to complete, due to reordering, and has therefore cost more than I anticipated, but it has been a worthwhile project overall. As a note, there are a couple of design features I have kept in that, at first could been seen as paradoxical from a build point of view, but I did manage to force the parts into place without much difficulty.
  8. A couple of progress photos. I'm still awaiting some key parts to arrives, but it is starting to take shape: The main reason for the live build was to iron out any design faults. There have been a few redesigns around the wings mainly for stability/sturdiness, but over all the entire structure is very sound. More updates to come...
  9. I decided to bite the bullet and pick one of the design variations from my Modular Starfighter MOC, and build it. I had to do a lot of cross-checking of parts on Rebrickable, but managed to come up with a solid design/style that I was happy with, and then went and ordered all the pieces on BrickOwl.com. This is the final design I came up with: There are some slight modifications to this design, mainly due to the restricton of parts, but the biggest change was the landing struts. I was never really satisfied with how they were on the original MOC design. With this ship the struts actually retract/rotate into the undercarriage as seen in this pic: I'll post some photos of the finished product once all the parts arrive. For anyone interested, the total cost of the parts (1084 pieces) was around £165 including shipping fees on Brick Owl. Some of the part modifications I made drastically dropped the price down. The original design was coming in at nearly twice the price initially!
  10. Quite liking this idea: Retro Space Hero's Spaceship
  11. I purchased the horizontal display case and am very pleased with it. I went a little further though, and decided to create a hangar bay theme to fit inside as well as an outer framework so it can sit perfectly within a coffee table: Design instructions can be found here if anyone is interested: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-16224/Scene/hangar-bay-display
  12. Thanks! :) I was sure someone would've posted this somewhere before me.
  13. This is an insane design with over 1 million pieces: https://www.topgear.com/car-news/supercars/behold-full-size-lego-bugatti-chiron
  14. Worth noting that this is the anniversary of the "modern" movable parts minifig, as the static minifig of the same scale came out in 1975 ;)
  15. Managed to finish my newest LDD creation which originally started off as a Bladerunner 2049 themed vehicle, but after some design blocks along the way I decided to change it into a Classic Space themed vehicle: PS: I've also uploaded this on LEGO Ideas
  16. If I ran TLG I would increase the variety of odd numbered studs. In addition to the 3 stud options, 5, 7 and 9 stud versions would be available because there is always that time when a larger odd brick is needed.
  17. Thanks for the memories of the classic stuff. I remember getting a lot of them for Christmas as a child :)
  18. Thanks!
  19. I've just set myself up a Flickr account and uploaded all of my module designs here: I've also designed a 3rd fuselage module to add to the collection. The original fixed canopy design is only a change of 3 or 4 pieces, so could be used as an alternative.
  20. I know a few people here are already aware of this project thanks to @Digger of Bricks linking the LEGO Ideas page in the Embassy section, but I wanted to create its own thread as it is still very much an ongoing project and I'm constantly adding new module design concepts to it. Here is are some images of the initial design concept for those unfamiliar with the project: My recent update to it has been splitting the cockpit and fuselage so as to allow for additional alternatives to the design: This has allowed me to design an alternative fuselage piece: As I was designing it I couldn't help but notice that I was including some of the Classic Space designs, so once I was satisfied I put together a full model using some of the modules I had previously created, and came up with this:
  21. I've spent a couple of days coming up with a new design idea for a large frigate / cruiser with some classic space themes built around it. It's not going that well tbh, but I am trying out some interesting concepts based on what I've seen here and on the internet in general. I was particularly interested in continuing a modular theme, and just from a few hours of tinkering came up with this: It's not much, but I think it has great potential for either a fuselage or even engines. Although not fully visable from the above image, there is the ability to create linking technic arms so that they can be easily linked/detachable, like this:
  22. Ah apologies, and thanks @Digger of Bricks I didn’t see that addition you made to that thread.. Thanks for the warm welcome, and for the link rerference :) Sorry, I avoid most if not all social media so no flickr, twitter, FB or anything related.
  23. Thanks :)
  24. Just been reading through most of this thread as I was also one of those to grow up with the classic space sets during the late 70's and through the 80's, and a few posts came up that piqued my interest - especially the one quoted above. It just so happens that I've got a couple of projects that cover this specific area which I recently uploaded to the Lego Idea pages: Hangar Bay Display Modular Starfighter The starfighter ideas is kind of a WIP which was inspired by the No Man's Sky procedural starships, and the hangar bay was something I wanted to create initially for my UCS MF, but later realised it could be used for any spaceship design.
  25. This is a test reply - that's like mixing 1980's technics with 1960's past time. I approve! I dreamed of owning this set as a kid. Now it appears to me in dream mode :p
