Thanks for the detailed reply, but I didn't say that classic themes being timeless means that they better meet the demands of kids these days; just that it does for my kid; and that leads me to suspect that there is a good market for the classic stuff that Lego would do well to serve. The fact is that nobody knows how classic themes would hold up in today's market, but I suspect that they'd do better than some expect. I guess we'll get a taster next year with the Space Squad. There is no reason why a classic space inspired theme couldn't be updated to add more detail and/or colours, but yet still keep with the general feel of the originals. In my entirely subjective opinion and experience, the classic themes hold up better than their later counterparts, even when the later themes have time to age.

Honestly, I dont buy in to this idea of kids not being into classic themes anymore; they're timeless. It's not just baseless opinion either, since I can honestly say that my boy of 5 has loved the Lego Castle sets I have more than any modern theme for a couple of years now; with no push from me. He also enjoy my Classic Space collection when I allow him to play with them He's got sets from lots of new themes too, including Star Wars, Ninjago etc, so it's not like he's into it through lack of choice. It caused a real problem when he wanted a Lego System castle for last Christmas. Had to go to the secondary market or disappoint with Playmobil.

Yeah it is strange but I don't think there's any legal issue with using the name Robin Hood, but I could be wrong. It's public property. It was in the 1991 catalogue (UK) and was changed to Forestmen by the time that the 1992 catalogue released. Wolfpack were also called "Wolf People"; I guess because Wolf Men sounds a bit Hammer Horror haha.

More news for sure. If there's one thing a new Lego enthusiast is going to look for it's the latest news, in my opinion. Also, I personally would like to see an article on the member statistics. For example, I pay attention to the new member forum and noticed that there's been a few Australian members lately - well is that common or a new occurance? I'd like to see in graph and statistic form, where members are in the world and any other interesting information like that (such as the favourite Lego theme that everyone is asked when signing up - How many Castle fans are there???).

Welcome to Eurobricks, @timemail! Is the moc of you? You're not alone in wanting Castle to return but I fear that it may be a long wait yet. It's not looking good in 2019 for Castle so I'd dive into those old sets if I were you
-
I never realised until today that the Forestmen were actually led by Robin Hood himself! It makes reference in this wiki, but I was looking through an old catalogue today and the sets are actually listed as Robin Hood sets, such as 6066 'Robin Hood's Secret Cave'. I just thought that was interesting.

Well if you decided to do it, a sewer level could have a larger circumference than your existing baseplates, then raise up to surround it providing a 'lip' of sorts. Then you could build sewer drains into the lip for entrance (and exits) for the people.

Grazie, @tecnomod! Benvenuto su Eurobricks. Spero di vederti pubblicare qui spesso.

It's really good Henry. I think it's like a futuristic Mos Eisley from Star Wars; filled with all sorts of shady characters and aliens. I particularly like the futuristic Transport Truck. I could see have a layer below this city as a criminal sewer hideout.
-
I can only see a small low res version from work so will take a better look later, but even through those constraints I can see that this is great work. What immediately struck me was how the camera angle and lighting reminded me of 80s Lego brochures depicting scenes with various sets. It looks alive, if you know what I mean.

@Henry Bricklider would you like to join in this game?
-
I'm in. Bring it! :)

Thanks for the explaination. I will participate and sign up. And also thanks for your insight on the NK replacement. I know it's pretty bleak for Historical themes at the moment but I think the Lego Movie 2 CMF line could have at least some Western-like characters in it based on the apocalyptic scenes from the trailer. I'm about to start building 31084 Pirate Roller Coaster - looks daunting for the hour or two that I have to do it in
-
@BrickJagger Re: The game. I don't know what it all involves - is there a link to somewhere that explains it all? In regard to Nexo Knights; am I correct in saying that it is not carrying over into 2019? If so, I have not heard of a new original IP to replace it, and I find that kind of exciting. Lots of announcements lately with the Lego Movie 2 and the latest Star Wars/Ninjago 2019 sets, so maybe we can expect news soon. Any thoughts on that? I'm hoping for a Castle line, but I'd also be down with another Vikings line.

What I like about this is that it looks simple to build, yet also elegant. Now send them after the Black Falcons; you can trust our Wolfpack to look after your precious treehouse. Mwah ha ha ha.
-
I really like it; it gives me the abandoned castle feel and I particularly like how the foliage has grown over the rock and the ruined parts of the castle. Also, bonus points for your Wolfpack avatar. A person after my own heart.

Very nice work. The eyes look a bit sunken in but top job none the less. P.S. - For the Alliance! -
70615 The Lego Ninjago Movie Fire Mech for £36 from Amazon UK. It's probably got up in price now unfortunately.

To all of my yankie friends and fellow Eurobricks members, have a happy Thanksgiving. Stay warm, safe and enjoy yourselves. Do you get presents at Thanksgiving? If so I hope you get those sets you've been wanting

@Itaria No Shintaku tagging you here because I don't want to derail the other thread. What does, for example, "1HY" mean? I dont yet understand the acronyms from your post. I don't know what is replacing Nexo Knights but it surely needs to be replaced with something, but not necessarily a Castle theme. Big bang themes can be anything right? So probably an in-house IP but not necessarily Castle. I hope it is Castle though, with battle packs of the various factions including a full battle standard, standard bearer minifig and a 3D crest mounted somewhere in the pack. Pack would contain 4-6 minifigs. This is my dream. Also, tagging @BrickJagger as you were in on the convo from the Community forum.

Yeah I'd love to see that. Tag me if you do by typing an @ symbol and my username. I think it would fit in the Lego Action & Adventure forum like the regular Ninjago sets. Title your post with [moc] before the title, e.g. "[moc] My Ninjago Cyberpunk City". Happy building. P.S. - You've just gained a subscriber -
I had a nosey today at the thread you linked @BrickJagger and my my what a roller coaster that was! It started calmly enough, then fell into a gender debate, then a toy shop owner had early catalog access, then the mods got heavy handed, then then it was all a lie and toy shop "owner" got banned, then people really saw early Nexo Knights images and were heavily disappointed. It did make me wonder though - what *is* going to replace Nexo Knights now it's coming to an end? @Itaria No Shintaku - Any thoughts? You were heavily involved in that thread. I don't want to derail this thread though, so I'll finish by saying that although the discussion in above thread was all over the shop, it was at least entertaining/engaging, which I believe is what people are looking for and may be lacking at times now.

Hi Henry, welcome to Eurobricks! Are you working on any cool mocs at the moment?
