  1. I keep on seeing people referencing the helmets being old style, but as far as I can see from the images they're not. The rim is thicker - is it just me seeing this?
  2. Well you'll never be hard up for new sets with Star Wars!
  3. There's no question; it is morally wrong to leak anything about Lego that they do not want to be leaked - BUT, only on the part of the leaker. There's no moral issue for me as a consumer to look up pictures of upcoming sets. It's my duty to myself as an informed consumer to know as much as possible before purchases. A good example of a "leak" thats had a positive effect is the recent Lego Movie 2 set names. I am *so* hyped for 2 of those sets that I can barely contain myself. Some companies would pay good money for that kind of hype from customers.
  4. Ok. Let me know if you need anything further after this. I recently got back into Lego and wanted to find a community to geek out with about Lego and my favourite themes such as Castle and Classic Space. The first thing I came across were Youtube videos so I started watching those and came across a random @just2good video that mentioned this forum by name, so that bought it into my consciousness. Sometime later I did a Google search for something like "Lego forum" and this and Brickset were the main two that stood out for me, and this one probably won out because A) I had that seed from Just2Good and B) I prefer the basic look of this forum and the layout. First thing I found when clicking on it was the Portal page, which was quite off putting to be honest, as blogs about MOCs and such isn't what I was looking for, but I found the forum link and hopped straight into the "Historical" section to see what was up with my beloved Castle. The first things I noticed was that a prominant member had posted a goodbye message and that it was overall pretty dead there, but with signs of past activity. That goodbye message really made me want to sign up and tell him that he's not alone in his thoughts on Castle, so I did. When I started to post my own topics, the major thing that stood out to me is that I could not post pictures as I had seen others do; only links. I've since learned that I need Flickr or a 3rd party account with Brickshelf (which frankly I cannot be arsed to setup) to actually post pictures because you don't host here. Would have made this post a lot better I feel. More recently, I've read the entirety of this topic and honestly it made me feel a little sad but also made me aware of where different types of people are coming from in relation to what they want to see here. The major one being MOCs. MOCs for me are cool to look at, but it's not why I come here. Infact, in my beloved Castle section, it's saturated with MOC posts and I feel that they should have a sub-forum of their own because finding discussion topics in there is harder for it. That said, it'd be rather dead at the moment - but I believe a new member is far more likely to dive into a discussion post if they can see it on that first page rather than being buried under tons of pretty MOCs. Another thing that came out of reading this thread is that I could post more often and stop being a lurker, so I've really been trying to make the effort lately. Thanks for reading and I hope that this was what you were looking for. Let me know if there is anything else specifically. And finally @just2good - Tagging you to annoy you. Peace bro.
  5. Welcome to a new era! Why not start by telling us what yours and your nephews' favourite theme of Lego is (such as Ninjago or Collectible Minifigures); that would be good. As an AFOL (Adult Fan of Lego), you may be tempted to buy loads of stuff straight away like I did. My advice would be to only buy on clearance unless you really can't wait for a certain set. Amazon are currently holding a Black Friday deal and I got the Pirate Roller Coaster for 46% off at Β£35, so bargains are out there if you keep on searching; and since you're from the UK too, I can try to help with advice where to start, if needed.
  6. Ah yes That 2 year bump message really threw me.
  7. If it's in the theme of classic space and it's not a total let-down, I'll be buying multiples of these sets. I am so hyped for these.
  8. EnchantΓ© John, thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself (even after 250 posts! lol). Your Castle collection sounds like it's been through quite a storied history indeed. My own collection was small when I was a kid but increased massively once I had a kid of my own Personally, I missed out on the Dragon Knights as I'd entered my dark ages by then, but I still have my Crusaders, Black Falcon and Forest Men minifigures and keep a special place for them. I think your castle looks great and it's nice to see it in display inside a glass cabinet.
  9. Well I guess that depends on the definition of a bargain. My haul above shows that you can get a deal, but generally I agree on the secondary market that it is harder. Although on the first day of the Amazon UK Black Friday deal, I got a new Lego Creator 31084 Pirate Roller Coaster for Β£35! That's 0.03p per piece.
  10. Welcome Godofninjas! Good to see a member from down under. What's your favourite Lego theme?
  11. Welcome back, Lego2016Lego! What a tongue twister that is! Why did you leave us? Hope to see you posting in future.
  12. Maybe you could post a picture of your town once you have it all set up? I'd like to see that and I'm sure others would too!

    Lego "Sale"

So according to this article, Lego have announced some upcoming "Black Friday" sales, as below: Thursday: 30% off App-Controlled Batmobile Friday: 30% off Mini Cooper Saturday: 30% off Arctic Mobile Exploration Base Sunday: 30% off Mack Anthem Monday: 30% off Heartlake City Resort I'm focussing more on the Arctic Mobile Exploration Base because it's most of interest to me. Set 60195 is Β£84.99 on the Lego website. So take away 30% in the "sale" and it'll go for around Β£59.49, which works out to Β£0.07 price to part ratio for it's 786 components. 7p is around average and I'd hardly consider it a sale, but if you want this set badly then it's already Β£59.99 on Amazon, marked down from it's regular price there of Β£64.98. So if you're thinking of buying this because of a "sale", I'd consider waiting. I suspect that the City Arctic sets will be heavily discounted soon enough. I do want to end this thread on a positive note though and say that I really enjoy these Arctic sets. Such a unique colour scheme; it reminds me of Ice Planet 2002 in that way. Happy shopping.
  14. Ha! Did you learn nothing of teamwork from Fabuland? Come to think of it.... I don't remember many Octopi... Doesn't matter if you're a Knight.
  15. Well you can never have too many troopers, am I right? You gave them a nice home. I purchased a Lego tub from eBay that includes the CMF series 1 Demolition Dummy, amongst others. I really need the Hazmat Guy next from series 4.
  16. 欒迎 (Welcome) Angeou, I hope that I translated that correctly haha Pleased to see you on Eurobricks! If I ever need advice about generators, I will try to remember to ask you, thanks. What is your favourite Lego theme? Have you ever built a generator out of Lego? That could be a cool Moc.
  17. Wow you must have spent quite a lot of money of those sets already, but you've made some good choices to start your own town. Assembly Square would be my choice over the Pet Shop, but both are beautiful sets.
  18. Ha, I out-rank you all! Salute your AdmiralCuriousDog!
  19. Wow you had a great score! That lone Knight amongst all of those Pirates makes me uneasy though I think 10 years ago and more was a great time to eBay, but I was in my dark ages The only reason I got my score was that it didn't look anything special at first glance. I had to zoom in and really scan it over. I need to go to more Car Boot Sales; do they have those in Germany? In the UK they're like garage sales but in a big field and on stalls set-up at the rear of peoples cars.
  20. Haha! Do you like it? I think I'd like that.
  21. Hi @ks6349, How about an update on what you've purchased to ignite those old memories again? I'd like to hear about it, cheers.

    Hello

Helo Mike, Welcome to Eurobricks! It's always a pleasure to see a fellow Brit in the community.
  23. Hallo Hans, Welcome to Eurobricks! It's always good to see new members here and I hope to see your name posting in future. As others have mentioned, there have been pinball machines made entirely out of Lego. I'd post you a link to the video on Youtube that I watched of a great one, but alas I'm at work currently and can't do so. Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself.
  24. Hallo GLX, Welcome to Eurobricks! I really like your town set-up with the mix of Ninjago and Space. two very different themes that seem to fit well together on your shelf. Hopefully your shelf is strong enough to continue bearing that weight! I hope to see your name posting in topics frequently.
  25. The same naming convention is on Lego Ideas. I'm AdmiralCuriousDog. Sounds about right.
