It looks like the Daily Mail has taken over from the Sun, not such a bargain price as before but the Gandalf polybag might be worth the money! http://www.dailymail...s-The-Mail.html Cheers, Robin

I thought that it might be fun to have a Cloud City Community Build, there's so many different scenes to choose from....ok I'm probably a little biased i) Falcon & Landing scene ii) C-3PO being de-constructed iii) Chewie finding bits of said C-3PO iv) Encounter with Darth (and Boba) v) Han being toasted vi) Boba-Fett & Darth in corridor (He's no good to me dead!) vii) Carbonite Chamber viii) Luke arriving (well you'll need to use your imagination for that!) ix) Corridor duel x) Boba moving Han xi) Platform duel xii) Luke whining about his hand xiii) Luke in awkward position on aerial xiv) Lando calls Lobot for help xv) Chewie battling lots of Stormtroopers & C-3PO getting upset xv) Chewie trying to save Han by firing at Slave 1 that he's stored in...... It could even be expanded to cover the scenes before & after (asteroid field, Space worm mouth, Space worm escape etc etc!) and even some more generic Cloud City scenes (buildings, corrridors, mining, utilities, cloud-car platforms etc which weren't in the original film) It might be fun to try and create a 'Death Star' 10188 type model with each of the builders signing up to make a scene that would fit together....in theory!! We could even have two scale categories so that everyone could be involved, plus a further 'free build' category for the more generic scenes. Any thoughts? Cheers, Robin

For those of you that haven't seen it: (link here) Results of the LEGO Review for UCS Sandcrawler 2013.06.15 First and foremost, congratulations to mb_bricks for reaching 10,000 supporters a second time on LEGO CUUSOO, and toward everyone for all of the support of the UCS Sandcrawler™ project! The Fall LEGO Review has concluded and the LEGO Review Board has arrived at its decision about the three projects in review. This is a project of epic proportions; a Sandcrawler that could potentially dwarf even the Taj Mahal, currently the largest LEGO set ever produced. Unfortunately we can’t approve this project in the LEGO Review based on our ongoing relationship and collaboration with Lucasfilm on LEGO Star Wars. mb_bricks has been a pleasure to work with throughout this process. We also recognize the intense interest of all of you who supported this project, and we are sorry to deliver this disappointing news. I was really hoping that Lego might produce this, albeit at a reduced scale, not a happy bunny

I've just ordered 4 of the Endor Battle packs (9489), Amazon (UK) have them for £7.49 (link here). Lots of imperial goodness, now all I need to do is sell the rebels on Ebay!

LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles, Times Square-edition Press Kit
Lobot replied to BobaCon's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Nice work Mutley (and good to see you around!) I had a quick look at Lego PAB and they have the 1x1 plates in 'Tr Blue' (which I think is the darker blue) at a very reasonable price of £0.06 each, so that's always an option if they aren't available on Bricklink. Cheers, Robin -
Toys 'R' Us has 20% off everything this weekend with a promo code, so there might be some useful deals. It's both instore & online (link here). Cheers, Robin

The more I look at this set, the more I'm impressed by it To be honest I never imagined that I'd want to buy anything 'Ewok' based, but the design is excellent and it's going to be in my collection before Christmas. I can see this being a great seller for Lego and, compared to the RRP of Jabba's Palace in the UK, it's almost a bargain! If I'm being critical, I'd like the trees to be taller (and more tree-like) and for it to include another 500-1000 parts which would have taken it into 'stunning' territory. I just hope they make the dish & landing platform next year to add to it!
-
I'm finding this difficult to admit, due to my rabid hatrid of all things ewok, but I'm really quite impressed by this set! It's just a shame that the trees aren't a bit taller, and well like trees, but I guess that was wishful thinking. I'll probably grab one as soon as I see it on sale. I still don't like the new Biker Scout design, too much printing & black for me. I really hope that they do a new landing platform & dish to compliment the set, that really would look (and I don't often use this word being in my late thirties) awesome!!!
-
Nooooooooooo!!!! Not more ewoks!! In all seriousness I'll be interested to see what Lego does with this. It could be a really nice set if the use a decent number of parts, rather than concentrating on yet more 'exclusive' minifigures like they did with Jabba's Palace. I think that it will depend on the quality of the trees; if they use a decent design it could be on my list to buy....I have visions of a clone of the original Kenner SW playset (which was a lump of brown & beige plastic) and simply awful!!

Thanks Bob, it's nice to be appreciated This is appalling and I've reported him too I hope that Ebay remove it and ban their account. For anyone thinking of buying Anio's instructions I can highly recommend them; I've got a copy for his UCS Slave 1 and they're really professional and look easy to follow......I really ought to get around to building it sometime!!
-
I do hope so!! It's been 'In Review' since 12th August, which is 280 days according to Excel; how could it possibly take that long to make a decision.... It's UCS, it's Star Wars, it's OT, it's iconic & will be massive so it's bound to sell well - what else is there to say? Count me in   Good to see you back StoutFiles

Thanks for the review I'm not usually a fan of PT sets, but this one is a must-buy for me. It's great to see a new Yoda & a non-CW Count Dooku The set looks quite nice as well.

I finally purchased 7879 - Hoth Echo Base yesterday, It's been on offer at TRU for a couple of weeks @ £74.99 and I managed to get another 10% off as the box was a bit battered. It's a truly awful set but I wanted to get it for the minifigures before it was discontinued.

If you haven't used Bricklink much before, I'd recommend starting on the Death Star II, and there's even a nice thread all about it (link here). In all seriousness, whilst the Falcon is amazing, it's a lot of effort & cost to build from scratch, it took me about 3 months of trawling through potential suppliers and then lots of waiting. In hindsight the Death Star was a lot more straightforward (fewer parts & individual types and most were readily available) and it looked great when it was built, although a bit on the wobbly side! I tried the ISD and sourced about 50% of the parts before admitting defeat. Reality struck when I realised it would be far cheaper to buy a complete used one!

I'm sure that there's some logic to the decision, but the 50% discount on the B-wing in the US has me really confused Obviously there are a lot of happy collectors across the pond, but I think that it will have a seriously negative impact on sales of it everywhere else. It's one of the consequences of the internet, everyone who's got more than a passing interest in Lego knows what happened, and the rest of the 'offers' weren't anything special which hasn't helped the situation. Personally it's not a set that's on my 'must have' list, but now I'm not going to buy it unless it's reaches a similar discount as a matter of principle! And back on topic, a decent sale is always good.... I buy Lego to build, not as a financial investment.

I like the font you use Empire, it's a nice change from the default EB one. It's quite sad that someone could critise you for that, perhaps they need to get some perspective....I don't know what can be gained from such a comment? I'm not the greatest fan of customs but these are some of the nicest that I've seen - it would be nice to see a shot of them taken in low-light. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Robin

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Lobot replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I've had the shuttle for a couple of years & it's one of the best UCS sets that I've built. It's incredibly well finished and borders on looking like a model, rather than a Lego set if that makes any sense!! The only down-sides I should mention are: the top wing does flex a bit, it's cream rather than white, it doesn't have a loading ramp and it's rather 'challenging' to dissasemble!! (the wings use lots of technic axles for stregnth and I had to resort to a Leatherman to remove them..... ) I'd go with the shuttle while you can, the X-wing should be around for a couple of years. I hope that this helps. Cheers, Robin -
Well I've been fairly underwhelmed by both Han (he needs a blue jacket!) and the UK 'offers' but I managed to put in two small orders today. One was for Palpatine's arrest (9526) and a non-SW (VW camper) and they both qualified for a minifigure etc. I made both orders by telephone as the website was a bit erratic; I got through on both occassions very quickly, and I got the impression they were very quiet!! Infact I put in the orders about 30 minutes apart and the order refs were only 3 digits apart.....!

This is beautiful, one of the very best Dagobah's that I've seen
-
This is looking really promising, I especially like the design of the tree roots Have you got any photos of the 'dark' cave I'd be interested to see how you did this! To be honest, the water is a bit too green, although I appreciate that it's very difficult to build realistic water/swamps in Lego! Perhaps a mix of dark greys and blues might be better, especially if you add exposed roots etc to the edges? Also, if you're looking to make it as accurate as possible, the other vegetation etc looks too green to me - if you look at images of Dagobah they're mainly dark browns & greys with very little green in them apart from traces of moss etc. Please don't take this as critism, as you've clearly put a lot of effort into it, and it's far better than I could do!
-
I'm probably in the minority here, but I don't really like the 8129 version. I ordered one just as it was discontinued and was very dissapointed when I built it; it just looked like it was an 'economy' version and could have done with another 200 parts to finish it!! It had a nice selection of minifigures, but was seriously overpriced and I quickly sold it on. 4483 is more accurate but I still prefer 10178...it might not be that pretty but it walks!!

Thanks for the review smokebelch, and the beautiful photos Nice figure, but it's a shame he doesn't have a blue jacket...........
